— Ace Let's just get this on the record so everyone notes it.
While the media continues insisting that Republicans cancel their convention, or at least greatly neuter their "tone" as regards Barack Hussein Obama's many failures, due to the as-of-yet hypothetical Victims of Isaac, they don't mind that the guy who actually oversees FEMA and commands the Army Corps of Engineers is out politicking.
What do Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Ann Romney, Ron Paul, and Scott Walker have in common?
None of these men has any position, formal or informal, in FEMA's command structure.
What else do they have in common? They are all victims of a media campaign to "moderate their tone" in a political convention.
Meanwhile, the guy who actually does have a formal role in the management of federal emergency relief is permitted to politick in peace, without any suggestion from the media that he ought to "moderate his tone."
Will the hypothetical Victims of Isaac be harmed by his partisan campaigning? Apparently not. Apparently they'll find succor and strength in his soaring, healing new catchphrase, "RomneyDoesn'tCare."
Chris Wallace says the media should stop with this partisan "nonsense" (only the "nonsense" is his word), and I agree.

The Education President is actually causing schools to be closed because he's in town.
The University of Virginia chose not to cancel classes to accommodate President Barack ObamaÂ’s visit, but the Charlottesville City Schools wonÂ’t have the same luxury.
The city schools will shut down around mid-day Wednesday due to travel disruptions expected to accompany ObamaÂ’s campaign event at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion, school officials announced Monday.
With the leader of the free world speaking at the heart of a city that spans just 10.4 square miles, school officials expect buses to have a hard time getting around.
“The road closures will significantly affect our ability to transport students home,” read a statement from schools spokeswoman Cass Cannon.
Classes for 3 year olds will let out at 11:30 a.m.; Walker Upper Elementary and Buford Middle schools will let out at noon; elementary schools will let out at 12:30 p.m. and Charlottesville High School will let out at 1 p.m. All after-school activities are also cancelled, according to the announcement.
The Obama campaign approached UVa about holding the event on Grounds, but university officials declined, citing the “extraordinary disruption” it would cause on the second day of the school year.
The frenzy of activity will now be focused downtown, which will cause multiple closures to roads and buildings near the pavilion.

The press is so targeted on slamming R's - who aren't even there - they'll end up putting R's on to defend this shit.
So, don't -defend-. Attack!
"Well, Obama looks worse than Bush on this issue too."
"You're upset we're having a party while black people drown. Obama is fundraising - and he's the guy you all think is in charge."
Posted by: Al at August 28, 2012 02:49 PM (MzQOZ)
Of all the absurd distortions and inventions of what used to be called the press - and of all the indefensible (and formerly career-ending) examples of outrageous slander and irresponsibility by what's left of the Dem Party - the entirely fabricated hysteria about Katrina and specifically the federal response may have been the worst.
Though I very very rarely even attempt to tweak, humiliate, or (gasp) edumucate the sea of ignorant, clueless, NPR-level idiots that surround me, I did once in a mischievous mood confront a friend's wife who drooled a sarcastic "Heckuva job, Brownie" during one of her illiterate anti-Bush rambles.
"Hmm, I worked in disaster relief for a few years - what specifically did FEMA or the feds generally fail to do in the Katrina case? I mean, just remind me of a few balls dropped, important things with consequences."
Silence. Blank look.
"Oh, that's right, I remember now. The FEMA and federal response to Katrina were excellent. In fact they went pretty far beyond their technical and legal authority to help, in order to compensate for the unprecedented, disastrous general collapse and failure of local and state govts. - which have 95% of the funding, legal responsibility, and authority to deal with things like Katrina. Navy pilots defied orders to rescue people in places with real trouble - uh, not New Orleans - but in Mississippi, places actually hit hard by Katrina in a life-threatening way. Oh, for some reason, that state didn't need to be literally rescued by the feds going way out of their normal lane just to avoid catastrophe".
Silence.
There's no hope for the country as a whole, but it would at least have been entertaining during the Bush years for the admin. to eviscerate and humiliate the "press" and the 60% of the public that is stunningly ignorant and stupid (esp. the "educated" coastal clueless) about one of their many hallucinogenic paroxysms of slander and distortion.

One reason there's no hope for the country - even at a place like this, probably more than half the folks have absorbed the nonsense about Katrina and the federal response. So maybe I should throw out the very basic line I used to humiliate and silence my friend's idiot spouse: what did Brownie or FEMA fail to do in Katrina that is a normal, funded, authorized, and appropriate thing for FEMA to do?
Just one thing. Not three hundred.

Good one, Al. In any case you nailed the sense of it, and my point obviously was that the "mission accomplished" distortion/lie was another huge slander that contributed to the growing national disgrace and hysteria in the 2nd Bush term.
The misinformed and ignorant who predominate in the country and imperil it have no one but themselves to blame, but it's sort of irresponsible for adults (as in the last admin.) to not even lift a finger to fight the cretinization and degradation. Even though they are probably too advanced to effectively correct, now.
(sorry runninrebel, though I can easily see a mega-wave election transpiring this Nov., the rot is too wide and deep - look at the massively pernicious farce the SCOTUS has become, just for one example - I just don't see anything more than a grim and depressing holding/delaying action on civil society and public policy being possible with a populace and electorate as, effectively, "un-American" as the one we live with today).

Katrina: Dem mayor, Dem governor, Repub Pres: Bush to blame.
Isaac: Dem Pres, Dem Mayor, Repub governor: Jindal will be blamed.
never fails. Like betting with people who think that pro wrestling is real.
