Obama's 2004 Speech
— Ace

More of the same sort of rhetoric we heard in the 2007 speech, only not as strident.

In this clip, Obama fleshes out his views on empathy, applying it to the divide between rich and poor. This analysis is revealing as Obama suggests that there is a class struggle underlying society in which non-violence is only one option. He doesn't spell out the alternative but he does suggest that "accountants and tax loopholes" are used to keep people down in a way that is reminiscent of the way police treated blacks during the civil rights struggle. He says at one point "I don't know if you've noticed but rich people are all for nonviolence. Why wouldn't they be. They've got what they want."

I find that very revealing. The rich only oppose violence because they've "got what they want" and seek a rule to defend it?

Does that not mean that those who are not rich are justified in using violence, as they don't yet have what they want?

He also suggests that non-violence is a sound approach only if the rich "have empathy" for the poor, by which he surely means cash-money empathy.

What if they don't? What if they decide they're paying enough in taxes? Is non-violence out the window, then?

I asked on Twitter, to the media: Since Obama has, by the media's own admission, not said what he'd do in a second term (except "Not be Romney" and also "Not be Obama from his First Term"), and since all electoral considerations will be lifted from him in a second term, shouldn't we be sort of interested in what really drives Obama?

12 Ace,  I have repeatedly asked reporters on Twitter if they think they will be protected when the country collapses.  They never answer.

So,  I am left to the conclusion that they have been promised special privileges by the Obama administration if things fall apart.

I just thought you should know I have asked them.  It is disheartening to me.

When I was a girl I once considered journalism as a profession.  My life sent me in a different direction,  by the grace of God, as I see now I would have either starved or been shot as an enemy of the state.

FWIW, his statement is fairly illogical anyway.

He talks about rich people "not wanting violence" because they "have everything they want" but of course in that case they'd not want change at all. While many of them don't he can't possibly explain those who do in his rubric, so he just handwaves with the squirrel of "rich people are evil."

Which does sorta lead to ace's point, is he equating violance and change?

Romney's problem tonight is not Obama, it's the moderators. They will avoid financial and job/economy questions as much as possible, putting them near the end when many have switched the channel out of boredome over birth control, abortion, gay marriage, racism and healthcare questions.

61 @Miss Marple, you want to know why they are all in for the JEF this time? Why they are so eager to have him reelected? Why they don't care what happens to the country?

This is what I posted on the last thread:

1) The major newspapers will be "bailed out" by the local cities and some states. They'll form a quasi-private corporation along the lines of PBS or Fannie Mae that will, more or less, make them officially what they already are: Mouthpieces for the state. It'll be a loan or bonds or something but, there will be taxpayer money going to the major newspapers. They will do it at the state and local level to avoid any constitutional questions. (and even then, that piss-yellow coward, John Roberts will be fine with it.)

2) The Fairness Doctrine will be the law of the land by May. I don't think I need to explain just how erronous and malicious this law is to any conservative. Short answer: No more Fox, no more talk radio and--because they will apply it to the internet--no more conservative websites. "Cut, jib, newsletter" won't be a joke, it'll be the only way you'll hear conservative opinions. Opps. Nope. Not even that will be allowed. Or did you think that "arrest" of the filmmaker was a one-time deal?

Yes, we are well and truly fucked in the ass if the JEF is reelected.

We will be locked down as tight as communist China when it comes to news and information. While the media elites will become a protected class as willing mouthpieces.
And this is not even taking into account gawd knows what is buried in his executive orders.

The idea that you didn't build that is the idea of historic inevitability and also that the proletariat owns part of the profits stolen from his work. Second, the immiseration, in that ... viva la revolucion baby. We can't get to stage 2 without stage 1, the violence justifiably done by the prole. So, yeah, the rich man wants peace because he's going to lose the class war.

77 After thinking about this upcoming debate thingy that's got the twitter-verse so hot and bothered, I've decided to jump feet first into the lucrative 'predictions' market:

1. Romney will be proclaimed by the press as to 'polished', to rehearsed, and artificial. Stiff, unresponsive, and recited his memorized lines with a dead-pan delivery, void of any emotion, or inflection.

2. Obama will be characterized as alive, eager, engaged, commanding, presidential. His verbal stumbles will offered up as proof that he is speaking from the heart, and not merely reciting overly rehearsed talking points.

3. Romney will mention his kids. He'll be criticized for doing so.

4. Obama will mention his kids. He'll be lauded for doing so.

5. Romney will make numerous mentions of Obama's record in office thus far....he'll be accused of making partisan, mean spirited, and desperate attacks in an effort to save his fumbling campaign.

6. At some point during this debate, Obama will look personally hurt by Romney's harsh words. The cameras will zoom in on his tortured face....Chris Mathews will break down in tears.

In the end, the press will declare Obama as the clear winner...on points, on style, and on appearance.

The voters will disagree, and Romney will get a moderate boost in the polls.

116 It's weaksauce, impotent Marxism. I heard this bullshit all the time 40 years ago, as aging Old Leftists tried to keep an iron in the fire with MLK-style nonviolent New Liberals. "Isn't there anything that would incite you to true class-warfare violence?" And there wasn't.

So, the New Liberals are running everything now, and the nonviolent approach has, from their POV, been incredibly successful. They've given away everything in sight for Good Intentions, and all Whitey -- let's just call him that -- has really done is grumble. We're going over a cliff, sure, but it's all been for the best.

And yet, in the mishmash of old slogans this guy has roiling around instead of convictions, there's still a need to get-it-up once in awhile. Pitchforks. You don't meet modern state socialists who see any appeal in this at all. I think it makes them cringe because it reminds them of when The Cause was hopeless, not triumphal. They'll try to pass it off as that-was-then youthful exuberance, like the cars you burned after your team lost and then gave a power-fist and yelled "For The People!".

At the time Senator Obama made that Hampton speech in 2007, the federal government had given more than $110 BILLION Dollahs in aid to Katrina-impacted areas -- an amount much greater than that pledged to the victims of 9/11. The Stafford requirements were waived for New Orleans-related aid on more than one occasion -- but that was despite the "nay" vote of Senator Barry Obama on at least one of those occasions. Other fun fact: As president in 2011, Obama refused to waive the Stafford Act for the victims of the tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri (I guess they were too white to qualify for Barry's compassion).

Jon Huntsman is asking "where's our Republican Bill Clinton" with charisma?

Bart Gordon: all Obama needs to do tonight is look presidential. He will definitely win reelection, and maintain slight Senate democrat majority. Nervous, big stakes, business community to make demands from politicians after the election. Taxes, budget, all rolled into one bill. [God, not another "you've got to vote for it before you can read what's in it" comprehensive reform bill from hell.]

Bill Kristol: Tonight I won't beat up on Romney. Question: Where are the actual poll numbers? No worse than 2 weeks ago. Obama had a chance to pull ahead, but failed to close the sale. 3 pt. race now. Obama is vulnerable, poor incumbent figures, far below Clinton's at re-election, even below Bush was. Obama has provided Romney with running room.

Financial Times questions Kristol re: Romney adm. on Economy
Economic Reconciliation will pass with Republican votes given compromise.
John Boehner is NOT going to hold Republicans against a reelected Obama.
Crisis gives either candidate elected a stronger hand economically to shape the agenda.

@107 Respectfully, while you are right on one level, overall I believe you are wrong.

We are in a global economy. In my humble opinion if the God King is re-elected the entire world economy may be thrown into chaos.

No not right away but soon, we are the engine of consumption in the world.

Europe is a factor but not anywhere close to the US, we stop, bad things happen. Everywhere.

China is a house of cards, India too, they don't feed the world and its economy. We do.

I don't pretend to know what will result. I do have a very educated idea what may.

It will not be anything we have ever seen before. Comparisons to the UK and Rome are simplistic.

Too much has changed.

Mr Obama has tried, at every turn, to help undo the injustices of so many generations.  He is committed, to me, to helping those that most need help. those that need the lift, and the understanding of us who have so much. Who have TOO much, really.  Who have been given so much in our lives that we don't need.  So many others have not been borne so; they come into this world poor, beaten, and defeated- why should they be kept there?

At every attempt, the Republican party has kept those 'sacred cows' of the rich in their attempt to keep power- to keep their lofty status in life, and to prevent others from reaching and achieving the best that they can.  EVERYONE deserves a chance- EVERYONE deserves equal treatment for equal effort- we all can live together as one, as Americans.  In a land so rich with life.

Understand that Mr Obama is the first one to be so close to achieving this goal- to understanding what it is going to take to get there, and to try to make it happen.  He will fail at some things, but he has succeeded in many many others.  He has helped to bring us together in ways we have yet to realize- but given another term, he CAN achieve them.  He CAN do it.

We can transform the selfish, elitism that America has become to show.  He understands, from his varied life around our world, how we can set the example, and succeed where all others fail.

He will give, where others only take; he is boldly going where no other politician dared travel, in hopes that America can be, and achieve, the greatness of our people.

Give him that chance.  Listen to what he is saying.  And believe.

We do.

@145 It's actually a great place. Little primitive in off the cayes which makes it ripe for a Moron takeover.

Ace would have to shave his fur though; little humid.

But plenty of garbage for him to sex up.

166 if you can find the hulu of the SNL doing the 2008 DNC debates where they were completely subservient to OBie, that's about on point. Remember, the polls are lying, it's Romney 60, Obama 40.

This kinda sorta allows us to see that Barry really is a puppet of a fifth column.

Doncha love it, how the media is totally silent on all of this shit.

Kinda sorta makes you wonder about them...

How they kinda sorta allow all leftist based activites to go without comment, or a full fledged PR campaign replete with spinners and media advisors.

Kinda makes you wonder.

Lot's of 'other politicians' have traveled where he is going.

190 @168, this is the problem with the 40% of Americans who are going to vote for Obama. Some are on the take. That's cool, they're in it to get paid. So's Obama. Other's are racists, not cool. or is it because they're racists for blacks? I forget, I guess it's only a unidirectional thing. Then there're useful idiots like you who have no idea what they're talking about. Go use your one square of toilet paper while the ruling class you mindlessly elect fleeces you and everyone else to live like kings.

191 MICHELLE OBAMA ON The TOM JOYNER MORNING SHOW: Well, weÂ’re understanding that, you know, you can have a president you love, but if you donÂ’t have a congress thatÂ’s willing to work, you know, you wind up stalled in so many ways. And I think that Barack has done a phenomenal job working around a congress that has never been willing to help move the country forward on so many different issues.

192 I just want to applaud the timing on the release of these tapes by the Daily Caller.  For four years we have stood by while Obama lies, cheats,  subverts, and lies more.  If the Daily Caller had these videos a long time ago, bravo to them on holding them until now.  Had they been released a couple of years ago it'd be old news now.

Hope there are more damaging things to be released over the next 34 days.  Is it just me or does it seem like everything's beginning to cave in on him now?  The timing could not be better.

Before the first election, Ace and Drew were all too happy to label any who brought this stuff up as "racists" It's great that you're all getting it at 11:55 PM, but the damage you helped cause by attacking your own (birther much?), help greased the skids more than a bit...

197 He made a veiled threat that if Federal money was not forthcoming fast enough or in sufficient amounts for post-Katrinare-buildingthat riots would be justified. The guy has the psyche of a street punk. The whitewash of Obama, his history, and his core beliefs on the part of the MSM was historic...

It would have been nice in 2008 if anyone in the media had the curiosity to find out what a "community organizer" did.  Could have been easily explained with two names, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson. Community organizer is just a glorified title for race hustling shakedown artist.

Posted by: Mayday at October 03, 2012 03:31 PM (F3s39)

198 @201, finally someone else gets it. The liberal pathology is curious, it does not allow for counterargument, it relies on its own feedback loop of prejudice informing worldview, and it hates everything that does not conform. Plus, like you saw above, it has to argue by shotgun scatter approach so that no one thing is ever seriously considered.

201 O/T question:  has anyone running for office campaigned with Obama?

I can't think of anyone offhand, but I haven't paid that close attention to congressional races.  Maybe Fauxcahontas.

If few or none have campaigned with O, isn't this very unusual for an incumbent POTUS?

207 Obama didn't only justify poor people attacking rich people but also Black people attacking White people. His dichotomy is: poor, Black, wanting more, justified in using violence when it's useful; versus rich, White, have everything they want, and objecting to violence only because they already have everything they want. That's an incitement to anti-White racial plundering.

That's the anti-White theory. Flash mobs, polar bear hunts and knockout king are the anti-White practice.

Plus anti-White job discrimination and other anti-White legislation of course; whatever plunders Whites is good, whether it's legal or non-legal, violent or non-violent.
