— Ace A surprise, I'd warrant, so that the press corps did not have a heads-up. If they had a heads-up, they could have thought of questions they've wanted to ask him for months.
In this nationally televised bullshit session, he claims, among other things, that he never heard of or knew of Senator Reid's "didn't pay his taxes" attack on Romney.
He also claimed his campaign never called Romney a felon. Via Instapundit, Drudge links...

Remember that about 47 percent of the population is going to vote for a Dem no matter what, and in some states more (Recall Massachusetts supported Teddy Kennedy for decades no matter what the scumbag did). This is dishonesty the old fashioned way.
It is technically true that his campaign did not call Romney a felon in two ways: First, it's one thing to commit a felony, and another to actually BE a felon, which requires that you actually be convicted of a felony. They suggested (which is not technically the same thing as an outright accusation) that he MAY have committed a felony, which brings us to way #2. The second way is that they left open the possibility that he is merely a liar, rather someone who has committed a felony.
So there was plenty of inuendo, which he conveniently ignored (surprise!), but no actual accusation. I'd say that Republicans claiming that there was an actual accusation, instead of what really happened, is less helpful than complaining about what really happened. But maybe that's just me, and John Q Public doesn't really give a shit about the difference.
So this isn't like that "out of context" ad he took out, that was an easily verifiable flat-out lie, that he not only said, but that he also spent millions of dollars to make sure everybody heard. That was more like the Obama I've come to know.
Posted by: Optimizer at August 20, 2012 02:10 PM (As94z)
The WH Press are lulling him into a false sense of security. Then in four years when he's announcing 10 million pardons one of them is going to shout out a hard question.

On the rape thing, he does at least admit that this is a MO thing, and doesn't try to associate Akin with Romney/Ryan. It's odd, though, how he focuses on "rape is rape", which apparently addresses the use of the term "legitimate rape", which he apparently is suggesting means "rape that's OK", when he should know damn well it means "actual rape, not just somebody claiming a rape that didn't actually happen in order to be allowed certain priviledges or benefits." The other odd, and kind of offensive, thing is the constant references to abortion as "health care". But that's how they are.
The initail Medicare claims don't smell right, and need to be addressed. It seems highly unlikely that they are spending less and magically getting more for seniors. Only the free market can pull that kind of rabbit out of a hat, at least in the long term.

BHO: "I'm not sure all those characterizations you've laid out there are accurate. For example, nobody called Mr. Romney a felon."
Um... She didn't SAY that they called him a felon, she said that "they have suggested that Mr. Romney might be a felon ..."
Then he ignores the question, which was "Are you comfortable with the tone your campaign has set," and pretends like he and his campaign are focused only on issues.
I'm actually impressed with how pricisely the report phrased the question. Again, Obama isn't technically lying here (even the "I'm not sure" stuff doesn't outright dispute what she says), but he instead chose to rephase the question to something that he could give a better-sounding answer to, while completely ignoring the actual question.
