Obama's Very Bad Week, the Sequel
— Gabriel Malor

Last week, fresh off the awful jobs report, with bad fundraising numbers just about to be released, and while President Clinton rushed around the country "helping," Obama campaign manager Jim Messina sent a special video message to Obama's supporters to reassure them that everything was going according to plan. Messina insisted that the campaign always expected the race to look so bad for Obama.

Yesterday, David Axelrod continued this desperate pleading on the morning shows. Axelrod claimed that Obama's awful week, capped by the President's idiotic and out-of-touch claim that the private sector is "doing fine," "will be of little consequence." Not even the MBM is buying that:

Taken together, the beginning of June 2012 may be remembered as a time period that shook the pillars of the Obama reelection effort. If nothing else, itÂ’s shown the 2012 landscape to be so different from 2008 as to make assumptions based on four years ago seem worthless.

The Democratic base, while still solidly behind Obama, has shown signs of atrophy, as the failed recall of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker displays. Former President Bill ClintonÂ’s comments on RomneyÂ’s business record and how to handle expiring tax cuts, meanwhile, show fraying of party unity in a way Democrats find all too familiar.

On the other side, the Republican Party and its high-powered allies have clearly improved in terms of organization and focus since 2008 and even 2010. The Walker victory was a psychological boost, and it gave deep-pocketed GOP allies a chance to flex their still-flush wallets.

Plus, the speed and breadth with which Republicans pounced on Obama’s “doing fine” comments show a marked improvement on the communications front. Financially, operationally, and strategically, Obama’s Chicago team is clearly facing a formidable match in Romney’s team in Boston.

Formidable. I like the sound of that.

9 I know it's impossible to separate politics from job performance at this point, especially when so many more people are paying attention to Obama's actual job performance precisely BECAUSE we're in the middle of the political season. They just look incredibly inept at this point. I never had any confidence that Obama was anything other than a figurehead, but I assumed there were some smart people behind him. Now I'm not so sure. It looks like they have no idea what to do, because people aren't just looking at the surface anymore. I'd like to know if anyone went into the audience of that high school graduation at which Biden spoke, the one where he talked about plants that don't water, soil or pesticides, etc. Were high school graduates laughing at him? The floodgates appear to be just about ready to break.

McLame wasn't even going through the motions of running for President.  I think he wanted to reach across the aisle and the great racial divide and ensure that we elected a black President (by giving us virtually no choice, and even then it was a reasonably tight race.  Just think what might have happened if the Repubs had run a real candidate last time out (although Buuuush was a factor).

It was much more than psychological.  It was tangible. Real results.  Wisconsin voters really and tangibly gave a vote of confidence to conservative reforms that said NO to union entitlements and big government, and YES to fiscal responsibility and smaller government.

That is more than merely psychological.  That is real. That is a pivot point in the mind of the electorate. They are saying ENOUGH.

It's easy to sweep into office on an economic meltdown, especially when your opponent is not just weak, but self-destructive.

It is a lot harder to explain why 3.5 years later, the economy is worse than when you started.  There are a lot fewer people who will continue to buy the excuse that it's the last guy's fault and in in fact, are now embarrassed to hear that same excuse repeated.

One thing that has really impressed me with Romney is how effectively he put together his organization (which is truly an executive skill).  At times in the eternal primaries I questioned having fossils like Sununu on board but they've all been completely on message and we don't have the loose cannon shitheads like Schmidt and Wallace that sunk McRINO's leaky boat.  I think there's a lesson in that for the Palin fans like me.  I also think that having Reince Priebus running the Republican party gives us a decided advantage.

Exactly, I was railing about the circular firing squad and I still think the primary season is too damn long for people who wish politicians would just leave them the fuck alone.  But I can't argue against the wisdom of what the process produced.  And I was in an "anybody but Romney" mindset throughout most of it.

I do love that   ABC    couldn't write this piece without adding a little dig at 'pubs, though.   "On the other side, the Republican Party and its high-powered allies..."   As if labor unions, Hollywood     Ritchy Riches, and every grievance industry    mouthpiece   aren't "high-powered" allies on Obama's side.  Like he's the little guy duking it out against the Koch Brothers or something.   It's like they don't even realize that the Koch    brothers mean absolutely nothing   to 85% of Republican and/or conservative voters, and that George Soros    has much deeper pockets.

Here's a question:  when is SCOTUS supposed to hand down their verdict on Obamacare?  Because I suspect that will be another nail in this admin's coffin (though I'm trying not to count my chickens before they've hatched).

When I turned from being a Democrat to a Republican, it was during Reagan II. I'd always voted Democrat but, somehow, I paid attention one day and thought "Reagan is a grown-up, and the other guy, Mondale, is even more childish and clueless than me." So I stopped getting stoned and drunk long enough to vote for Reagan. And better things started happening to me from then on. Cause and effect? I dunno. I just started taking life more seriously.

But then again, I stopped being such a zero, so maybe you need that first, eh? OWS - it's life, for losers.

113 Obama really stepped in it with his "private sector is doing fine."  I do think it may be the beginning of the end for him.  There's really no way to rationalize this statement other than the fact that he is completely incompetent and out of touch.  Romney will use this one statement to great advantage....and it will work.  It's hard to believe Obammy really believes what he said, but he truly does.  Not many people in this country will truly believe the reason for our predicament is the lack of gov't workers.  He really did it to himself this time.

One and done for this bastard.  Thing is, we had to deal with him at some point.  If McLame had won in '08, the Indonesian Imbecile would've been waiting in the wings.  There was no way this country was not destined to be savaged by an Obama presidency.  Either '08 or sometime in the future, he would have been elected (with the current state of the msm).  Hopefully, this plague is just about over.

134 It's amusing to see the loopy media having a moment of clarity, so to speak, about this year's election cycle. For the reality is that one would have needed to have had one's head firmly ensconced up one's own arse not to realize that, although Obama certainly still could win reelection, the landscape in 2012 is as different from 2008 as nighttime is as different from daytime. Incumbent presidents presiding over horrible economies by definition are quite vulnerable to being ousted from office. 1+1 = 2.

146 Begin with Chicago’s population decline during the 2000s, an exodus of more than 200,000 people that wiped out the previous decade’s gains. Of the 15 largest cities in the United States in 2010, Chicago was the only one that lost population; indeed, it suffered the second-highest total loss of any city, sandwiched between first-place Detroit and third-place, hurricane-wrecked New Orleans. While New York’s and L.A.’s populations clocked in at record highs in 2010, Chicago’s dropped to a level not seen since 1910. Chicago is also being “Europeanized,” with poorer minorities leaving the center of the city and forced to its inner suburbs: 175,000 of those 200,000 lost people were black.
