— Ace Yesterday was Andrew Breitbart's funeral. Due to concerns about disruptions by the left, I was told not to say anything. They seemed to not even want the day confirmed.
I spent Monday packing and Tuesday traveling (and at the service).
I won't be blogging today, as it will also be a travel day. And also, I forgot my laptop's power cord. Which I hope will only require a trip to Best Buy to fix.
I apologize for the slack. But I felt I had to come out and say goodbye.
Thank you for understanding. And thanks to the cobloggers who keep this stupid blog running, despite my general awfulness.

Thanks, Ace.
In your absence, at least CAC has been kept too busy dealing with Primary results to start telling crazy ghost stories.

It's telling that they couldn't publicly announce his funeral because of worries about "disruptions" from the left. Yet conservatives are the violent hate-filled ones...
Posted by: Tunkhannock at March 06, 2012 11:53 PM (TLjqs)
I am, sadly, reprieved that the funeral time was kept private. I saw (and many others probably have too) a Kos diarist trying to organize protests at the funeral, hopeful of bringing Westboro.
A sad, sad world we live in.
Anyway, Breitbart is not replaceable... there was only one and this is a great loss, but a lot of people are inspired to try to be Breitbart by continuing his fight.

I wish someone would put together something for his family. Hopefully with his book sales really taking off, this will help them not to have to have the added stress of finances.
I ordered a "Breitbart is Here" T-shirt just because it was the only thing I could see to do to help them. They don't even make them in tall sizes, but I don't even care about the shirt.
With everything he did for us, it just seems like there should be some way we can say "thanks" and take care of the ones he no longer can.

What Monty said the other day...best place on the tubes...true, true.
And just remember, What Would Breitbart Do.

Pretty dang ate up when a man of Andrew's stature has to be buried in secret, for fear of what the radid left would do if they found out.
Shows we have a serious problem in this country.

With unemployment stuck over 8%, the Middle East melting down, eurozone collapsing, condom futures through the roof, etc., there is no way Obama gets reelected. I don't care who we choose, and from what I see, the remaining candidates look like they'll all be on board the defeat Obama train.

Ace, I am sorry for the loss of your friend and someone we all admired. Breitbart, you and all of us may have joked about only reading the comments but the truth is that you express ideas that stir people to think, comment and act. Andrew recognised a fellow warrior when he saw one.

Now that the funeral is past this should be make widely know so that Left in general and Kos in particular are given rightful attribution. They should not be left given an inch, not a moment of peace.
We think that this incivility and callousness is a new development when in fact it was there all along, we just didn't know about it or only had small and accidental indicators. They used to express their most vile thoughts to each other privately. Then along comes this new technology (internet, blogs, twitter, email) and they just can't help themselves, they wanted to share.
For so long they were cocooned in their closed communities and simply assumed that everyone is like them and those who are not are surely a small number and probably illiterate. They should be placed on notice that things will change and it's not the change the Left was expecting.

Yup, yup. I spent twenty years in that cuccoon. The primary difference between Dems and Reps? Reps say, "I'm right and I want to do it my way." Dems say "I'm right and you have to do it my way."

I kinda figured, since Greg Gutfeld wasn't on The Five yesterday and there wasn't a RedEye because of the primaries, so it made sense to do the funeral when nobody was paying attention.
I'm sure it was a beautiful funeral. God bless his wife and children. We will pick up the slack from here on out, won't we.

sure it is. does anyone know where Earnhardt Sr. is buried? hell no, because some dickhead would dig him up and try to sell him on e bay.

Ace,
You're doing the right thing for your friend. Take all the time you need, your friends and co-bloggers have your back and the moron hoard isn't going anywhere.
Take care of yourself and have a cold adult beverage of choice in honor of Andrew on behalf of the morons.

And thanks to you, too, Ace, for all you do.

The next time there's a Moron Meetup (I'll make one one of these days), what would be the appropriate drink to toast that magnificent bastard Breitbart with? I lean towards either the tears of the left or bacon-infused vodka with a pudding chaser.

Agreed. You made me think of my last comment. While I'd like to think it was taken in the spirit meant, I feel as thought now is a good time to mention what this "stupid" bit of pixels represents for me.
It's one hell of an attitude adjuster. I've posted under several nics over the past 4 years but mostly lurk. I love this place. Thanks Ace. I really do enjoy the space you've created here. It's something special.
Oh...I also just remembered that "Lace Wigs" was a "Like" - though just now removed - in my Facebook profile for years now. I think fondly upon this den of mischievousness as I contemplate the many people in my outer-most circle of friends that now believe me to be a cos-playing cross dresser.
*sigh*

They'd do it just on the basis of general prickery. Although if they did, I have an image in my head of Breitbart watching from the clouds with a videocamera and/or a laptop smiling and rubbing his hands with glee.
In all seriousness, thanks Ace for maintaining this community of idiots. It gives me both numerous chuckles (and an occasional need to wipe the liquids I spewed off the monitor) and a lot of food for thought.
