CALLING ALL TROLLS
Come to me my babies - let me quell your pain.
Tonight is your night, this love is your love. You are part of us now.
Let this troll chow and kool-aid beverage of your choice signify a new reconciliation.
Lay down that burden and forget the old ways, brothers, and all the old hatreds.
Just close your glazzies and awake to a world of no more pain.
I Demand You Pay My Student Loans
Explains Melissa Horton. Because:
1. She's a Latina
2. She grew up middle class in Ft. Worth.
3. She went to small private college in Boston.
4. She racked up >$100,000 in student loans, cosigned by parents.
5. Subsequently she got a law degree at Southern Methodist University.
Sure all of her loans were taken out by her voluntarily as an adult, but you see her debt is Not Her Fault. So it's only fair that we all cover it:
This month Rep. Hansen Clarke (D-Mich.) introduced the Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012. ...Clarke's bill proposes forgiving as much as $45,520 of eligible student-loan debt after new borrowers have made 120 payments - equivalent to 10 percent of their discretionary income for 10 years ...Even better, the forgiven amount will not count as income, so debtors need not fear paying higher income taxes for 2012.
Genius marketing on the part of the Marines - and Katy. Although I believe the boobehs are allowed in the USMC as long as they're properly secured.
10 Amazing Old Things That Still Work
Some things just keep working and working and working - well until they get outlawed by the government.
The world's oldest light bulb has been burning for 111 years - so little wonder it has a fan club with thousands of members and its own website. The so-called 'Centennial Light' has been on almost constantly since 1901. It holds pride of place in Fire Station 6, in Livermore, northern California..The bulb was designed by Adolphe Chailet, who competed with the likes of the world-famous Thomas Edison to make the best bulb.
This is from Operation Buster Jangle shot Easy in 1951.
11 of the Best Customer Service Stories Ever
We always hear the horror stories but sometimes companies go above and beyond:
Lexus certainly knows how to take the sting out of that. Although previous recalls had been addressed by sending technicians to the affected customers' homes to fix the problem on the spot, when the Lexus ES 350 sedan was recalled in 2006, the company decided to ask owners to come on into the dealership. Instead of sitting in a waiting room waiting for their cars to be worked on, customers were given a brand new Lexus instead, no questions asked.
An Oral History of The Sopranos
TERENCE WINTER (writer, executive producer): One F.B.I. agent told us early on that on Monday morning they would get to the F.B.I. office and all the agents would talk about The Sopranos. Then they would listen to the wiretaps from that weekend, and it was all Mob guys talking about The Sopranos, having the same conversation about the show, but always from the flip side. We would hear back that real wiseguys used to think that we had somebody on the inside. They couldn't believe how accurate the show was.
How to Take Flawless Phone Pics of Your Naked Body
Look if you take a nude picture of yourself with a cellphone, it's guaranteed to end up on the internet eventually. So why not take the time to make your ass-shots be as good as they can be. As always lighting and perspective make a huge difference and don't forget to smile - no one likes angry junk.
No flashes. Ever. Ever. A camera flash will turn the most regal peepee or veevee into a blinding physiological hell demon, exploding forth from the screen. You should never look terrifying naked. A flash will clinch this.
Miss Universe Canada announced yesterday that 23-year-old finalist Jenna Talackova of Vancouver was disqualified from the Donald Trump-owned beauty pageant, but didn't provide a reason."She did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form," competition officials said in a statement. Talackova, however, says she knows exactly why she was disqualified
Something about a penis I'm guessing.

Aha! She's not going to pay and just let the collectors go after her parents and take their house away. Then, she'll appear before Congress in 2018 and complain that her parents were made homeless when her dad got a cold.

Many drugs can cause psychosis. See Wikipedia on "psychosis."
A scary thought - could someone have spiked something he ate or drank? I do not see this mentioned or even speculated about in the press.
Absence of obvious concerns like that in the MSM often means - be worried.

And that Canseco "poetry" is just hilarious. I saw Jose last summer right before my epic DL adventure, he stayed in the same hotel I did by LAX. Wasn't sure I was happy that I could afford to live his lifestyle or sad for him that he had to slum with me. In the end, don't really care either way, it was just a little strange to walk out and see him standing there. After the roids.

Actually I don't think they do. AFAIK Twitter hasn't developed a meaningful revenue stream from advertisers yet. Which is why they've been saving the last 20 characters in their messages (140 instead of text message limit of 160) for ads. Which hasn't happened yet.

I am familiar with occupational medicine, fitness physicals etc. This one does not add up - no history of problems, then BAM - plumb nuts.
Either he took some drug, or someone slipped it into his food/drink...
From wikipedia- "Drugs that can induce psychotic symptoms include amphetamine, caffeine (which can worsen psychotic symptoms in schizophrenia and produce olfactory hallucinations at very high doses in normal volunteers), cannabis, cocaine, desoxypipradrol, dimethyltryptamine, alcohol (ethanol), inhalants, gammahydroxybutyric acid (and its precursors gammabutyrolactone and 1,4-butanediol), ketamine, LSD, mephedrone and methcathinone, mescaline and other phenethylamine hallucinogens, methamphetamine, MDMA (very rarely), opiates such as heroin, phencyclidine, piperazine-based drugs, psilocybin, and anabolic steroids at high dose"
Certain medical problems like a fast growing brain tumor could do it, too, but surely the pilot was given a CT scan or MRI after this incident.

Well to be seriously islamophobic for a moment, I'm not sure how it is at other airports but here in the Seattle area a large portion of the airport employees (baggage handlers, food service workers, gift shop employee, gas truck drivers) are either out an out clearly Muslim--based on garb etc. or are Middle Eastern looking enough that it's probably a good guess.
That being said, what's to stop them from indirectly doing things to the planes, like adding stuff to pilot & flight attendant food sources, changing the bathroom soap dispensers out on the planes for something else? Etc.
(There is a bit of cognitive dissonance that is allowing me to post this theory since I will be flying for 6 hours over water in 2 days...)

Fine by me as long as no taxpayer funds are involved. Hey, if professors and school employees want to give their services away for free, or alumni want their contributions used on deadbeats, so be it.
Of course I say this as a person who worked her way through undergrad (with some help from my dad and employer) over 10 years, then went back a few years later and took out a loan for grad school, and paid back every dime. So I have little tolerance for people who want a free ride.

Every single day, those employees go past security in to the "sterile" area (everything behind the standard TSA checkpoints think: in the terminal, must have a boarding pass to get there) and many into the "AOA" (Airplane/Airport Operations Area think: on the tarmac, loading luggage, etc.). Entry is gained with nothing more than swiping your badge or showing it to a guard. I used to issue those badges. Your concerns are well founded.

Trayvonification of Latinos can't be helping. From that standpoint I kind of like the repetition of hearing and reading "white Hispanic" over and over. Perhaps some Hispanics will think maybe it's not so great to be vilified as guilty of racism based on nothing but the color of their skin, and will think twice about voting for the Dems.

A 327 would have been the result of an engine swap.

Out here it's pretty much all Hispanic at fast food places. A friend of mine who used to own a franchise says he preferred them, too, because they work harder and don't whine as much as white kids about not getting time off.
Also, it's usually a second job for an adult, as opposed to a part time first job for a teenager. It's getting harder and harder for teenagers out here to get a job.

(Including how I chewed their ass out when necessary!)
People have no idea how much kids are taking in all around them.

When I was about 18 I got it into my head to try and memorize some the poems of TS Eliot. (I even put "Ash Wednesday" to a melody, I can still sing most of it by heart.) So on vacation in NY I recited vast swaths of "The Waste Land" sotto voce on the subways as practice. That was when I learned the best way of getting some space to yourself in this world is having people believe you are bugflick nuts.

Being immediately able to harrass people like Spike Lee and Alec Baldwin *is* having an affect on them. They still do stupid stuff, now they have to hear about how dumb it was *endlessly* until they give in and apologize. Sort of like the unjust judge and the widow in the parable.
Interacting with "names" in the conservative world, in real time, is pretty cool too.

I think the ridicule aspect is a huge factor. And we can bring the ridicule here at the HQ.

Drop in the bucket for a place like California. Plus the Lottery is part of the problem. At first, it's a bonus for education funding, the pitch it was sold on. But in very little time the politicians treat it as just another revenue stream and take it for granted. The budget grows and grows.
Among so many other things, we need a law that certain revenue sources cannot be assumed in the budgeting process and the budget proposed must be balanced within reasonable revenue estimates.

I never actually took the tie out of the shipping package before hand and when I did I discovered to my horror that they sent the wrong color tie. It was too late to do anything about it. Fortunately the bride was a genius and had me switch with the groom, who was wearing a vest and would have most of the tie covered.
I got back home and emailed Macy's. Their response was great:
Posted by: Colonel32 at March 28, 2012 09:27 PM (dfQ4e)
I placed an order (718910327) with macys.com for a tie. I was a groomsman in a wedding and had been asked to wear a specific shirt and tie. The shirt was found at the Macy's at Brandon Town Center, but the tie was not to be found. Rather than try to track it down at another store in the area I decided it would be easier to order online.
The online order process was fine. I did not find any issue with locating the tie. I paid extra for two day shipping to ensure it would get here well before my flight out of town for the wedding. UPS delivered the tie and I decided to leave it in the shipping packaging until I needed to open it when I arrived at my hotel for the wedding. If I had known the issues that would have caused I would have opened the package and headed directly to the nearest store.
Upon arrival to the hotel after just under 4 hours flight time and another 3 hours in a car I decided to hang up the shirt, tie, and pants. The pants were already my own, the shirt was fine, but the tie is another matter. I opened the package and nearly vomited. This was not the fine Club Room Satin Solid Silk Tie in red that I had selected on the website. This was what could only be described as the Most Offensive Tie Ever Created, hereafter known as MOTEC. The website called it red. The package said it was red. If that tie was red I'm Jessica Alba.
I spoke to the best man and his fiancee. We determined the best course of action would be to tell the groom that the tie was green. This would serve to gauge a reaction to what he would actually see. True to our thoughts the groom flipped right out. When we told him we were joking he heaved a sigh of relief until he saw the MOTEC. The groom's eyes went wide, his jaw dropped, and before we realized what had happened he threw himself into the lake in an attempt to get away from the hideous thing. I placed the MOTEC back in its bag and a couple of the men had to go fish out the groom.
The bride's reaction to the MOTEC was no better. She is a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan. The groom, despite growing up in Detroit and following the Michigan Wolverines his entire life, caved into her request to do the wedding in red and white. She was thrilled and had picked out everything to be just perfect. She even knew it would be overcast durring the ceremony, adding the right touch of silver to the skies to match everything else. When the groom and I broke the news to her about the wrong tie being sent she looked like she was going to take it well. I had no more than 3 inches of the thing out of the bag before she shreiked. Tears started streaming down her face and she sobbed softly. Her perfect wedding was to be destroyed. I honestly believe that she would rather that I had put a rope around my neck and hanged myself from the tree in the backyard than put that tie on and ruin her ceremony. Fortunately we were able to talk her down from murderous rage and had her only slightly seething.
If you would like I will be happy to provide a picture of this abomination of silk, dye, and heartache that was shipped to me by your company. I still have the offending item, locked away for safekeeping so that not only will it not harm anybody else, but also that if an invading army should come up the Gulf Coast I can wave it at them and make them surrender, Geneva Conventions be damned!
Please let me know how you intend to fix this situation.
Thanks,
Andrew Jensen

Yeah, I did! It's pretty interesting, although it seemed lot different from your standard buy-and-play kind of game. Hard to tell what's actually available without registering. Last I checked, there wasn't any F1 content (probably rights-related), which was what I was jonesing for, so I didn't join up. I should see where they're at now ...

yeah, the game has F1 stuff. I'm in the monthly build tier and the game is coming along nicely, fucking gorgeous and the handling is great outside of a few bugs. Bell outdid himself with this one, can't wait for the final product.
That, rFactor 2 and the upcoming game from the Netkar Pro should hold myself off nicely for a few years

cheap wheels come with a shifter be it paddles or a stick (paddles are better) until you get into the pricier wheels where you can customize the setup

Robert, the one you said as a favorite is called Egyptian Quenn. the Al Gore one is Silver Warrior. Two favorites of mine (and everyone else's).""
Frazetta was a bad ass. My favs are Atlantis, Egyptian queen, The Death Dealer, Indomitable, Berserker, and The Galleon...to name a few.

Yep,, same here only a longer time ago.. I started with tractors and trucks at around 6... I've had 2 cars with autos, a '58 Pontiac that had a 4sp auto (which was real popular with drag/strip racers) that would burn rubber shifting into all 4 gears if you kept her nailed..
other was a newer VW Golf.. was nice but found myself shifting it even though it was auto...

So, I haven't read the previous 300 comments, so this may be a bad moment to enter the conversation. However, "Jack or Squat?". Huh? I've never tried doing both at the same time. It couldn't hurt. I mean, I've rubbed one out in weirder situations.
Hmm. Interesting question, indeed.

Cals end of term standings are sorely needed now and should be a benchmark of any "R" President.... sounds like a good read.
