Oh this is nice. Why Was There No October Surprise? Because Every Freakin' Day For The Last Four Years Has Been An October Surprise!
But in Barack ObamaÂ’s case, the situation is reversed: Everything heÂ’s ever done is scandalous. The reason there was no October Surprise for Obama is that weÂ’re all scandaled out. AnyoneÂ’s who been paying attention since 2008 has literally been in paralytic shock every single day. We spent October 2012 exactly as weÂ’ve spent every month of the last four years: Our jaws on the floor, aghast, stupefied, unable to breathe. Almost every single thing Obama has done since heÂ’s been in the national spotlight could have been and should have been a career-ending October Surprise. But the mainstream media, as we all know, has devoted itself to protecting him.Not a day has gone by since Obama took office when I didnÂ’t learn of some fresh outrage and say Oh. My. God. But weÂ’ve been traumatized so often that over time the scandals have all blurred together and fused into a single red-hot thought: Please let this nightmare end.
Do go to the link. There is a mighty long list to peruse through. Hurricane Sandy & Climate Change
Mayor "Nanny" Bloomberg should just close his yap and focus on taking care of people that have been devastated by Hurricane Sandy and stop wasting time discussing "climate change". Hurricanes And Human Choice: Connecting Energy Policy And Disasters Makes Little Scientific Sense. Well duh!
But to call Sandy a harbinger of a "new normal," in which unprecedented weather events cause unprecedented destruction, would be wrong. This historic storm should remind us that planet Earth is a dangerous place, where extreme events are commonplace and disasters are to be expected. In the proper context, Sandy is less an example of how bad things can get than a reminder that they could be much worse. To put things into even starker perspective, consider that from August 1954 through August 1955, the East Coast saw three different storms make landfall—Carol, Hazel and Diane—that in 2012 each would have caused about twice as much damage as Sandy.
While it's hardly mentioned in the media, the U.S. is currently in an extended and intense hurricane "drought." The last Category 3 or stronger storm to make landfall was Wilma in 2005. The more than seven years since then is the longest such span in over a century.
Star Wars

Star Wars Universe Dream Park now closer to reality? Hmmmm. It would seem that Disney and Lucas had an agreement where Lucas couldn't build one if Disney had a theme park in that country. That no longer matters. I sense that Ace will be moving to the Ewok village in the not too distant future.
Of course, now that it is known there are more movies coming down the pike, immediate speculation has begun on the next trilogy. Is this mysterious Disney sci-fi movie 1952 really the next Star Wars movie? Oh crap, Lindelhof is involved.
My theory is that 1952 is a codename for Star Wars episode 7, 8, and 9. Just as Blue Harvest was used as a working title to throw the media off when Return of the Jedi was in production.
Battleship
Hey SCOAMF, Battleship Does Matter.
the matter is that the old "Battleship" board game -- not the more recent movie flop that was somehow based on it -- offers exactly the right metaphor to describe strategic affairs in the information age. "Battleship" does so by capturing the distilled essence of naval operations today: the hider/finder dynamic. In its own abstract way, "Battleship" forces players to concentrate deeply on the business of "finding." Given his great confidence in aircraft carriers and submarines, President Obama should take careful note that the board game includes them, too, with the carrier being the game's largest and most vulnerable ship -- just as it is in the real world today, as the array of smart, high-speed weapons that have emerged in recent years pose mortal threats to these behemoths. The most valuable vessel in "Battleship" -- that is, the one that is hardest to find and hit -- is also the smallest combatant.
A-10 Warthog
Turn up the the volume. A little AC/DC and some A-10 action. Hmmm, hmmmm.
Schlong News
It is stories like this that remind you that you shouldn't mess with what you're given. In Turkey, a Woman Requests Legal Injunction For A Penis.
A transsexual living in Mersin who underwent surgery to become a woman has requested a change in regulations so that she can return to being a man by having a penis reattached to her body.D.K., a 34-year-old originally from the eastern province of Van who describes herself as a believing Muslim, asked the Directorate of Religious Affairs whether it was religiously permissible to receive a penis transplant from a cadaver, but religious officials said it was impermissible unless the penis originally belonged to the transplant recipient.
Or this one: Britain's Youngest Sex Change Patient Wants To Reverse It. Hope they kept the little guy on ice. Or hope that Apple is working on the iDick.
Caffeine
Don't let Mayor Nanny hear about this. Supposedly too much caffeine is being blamed in the death of a 14 year old girl So Just How Much Caffeine Would It Take To Kill You?
The answer is hard to pin down, in part because it happens so rarely, but it’s clearly a hell of a lot. In an email, Jack James, the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Caffeine Research, says that overdose for adults requires roughly 10 grams of caffeine. (People typically ingest just 1 to 2 mg/kg of caffeine per beverage.) A 2005 Forensic Science International article on two fatal caffeine overdoses in New Mexico pegs the figure closer to about 5 grams--an amount that would still require drinking more than 6 gallons of McDonald’s coffee. Whereas a normal cup of coffee might bring the concentration of caffeine in your plasma to 2.5 to 7 mg/L, the two people who died in New Mexico--a woman who might’ve used caffeine to cut intravenous drugs, and a man whose family said he ingested a bottle of sleeping pills--both had concentrations 100 times higher. (A web application called “Death By Caffeine” uses a benchmark around 6 grams per hundred pounds of body weight to estimate death, but it’s “for entertainment purposes only.”)So if a true caffeine overdose is so rare, why has caffeine--perhaps the most widely used drug in North America--been blamed for contributing to a handful of deaths over the years? Perhaps because it almost always works in concert with other far more nefarious factors such as alcohol or heart conditions. Indeed, the suit filed in California points out that Fournier suffered from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. According to the autopsy report, the cause of death was a cardiac arrhythmia that the caffeine brought on. But the arrhythmia was also complicated by “mitral valve regurgitation in the setting of Ehrlers-Danlos syndrome,” which affects collagen synthesis and thus multiple body systems, including the cardiovascular system.

Here in TN, early voting I believe is over. But no matter, I have a (loaned) car, so I can press the R lever on Tuesday.
Sort of encouraged by news...but, being a natural depressive, I am reminded by 2008. In that year, we had
Rev. Wright
Bill Ayers
"Bitter clingers"
Pick of Biden as VP
Joe the Plumber
After each of these, the right-o-sphere was all "this is it, Obama is toast."
But, in a shocking twist ending...he wasn't toast at all.
Yes, since that time, we've had Obama's actual performance, which only the brain-dead, I mean, Democrats, could endorse. So there's that.
There's also talk about blacks deserting Obama, to which I say, No. Blacks will vote the way the Revs Jesse and Al have shaped them to vote. (Woe betide any who awake from Jesse and Al's spells, but that's a different rant.)
Being a natural depressive, I await the results of Tuesday with dread. Because that's how I roll. I am slightly encouraged by the fact that I will be able to vote here in TN on Tues. But I want more ammo.
Also, I am pretty drunk. So yeah there's that.

Hi friends, I'm late to the party, we have a wedding in the family tomorrow so we've be doing some pre-wedding partying. I did manage to catch the Romney speech tonight, thought it was great. Also, I just saw this on my facebook, I'm sure you guys have already seen it, but just in case...
Rasmussen Reports does a better job at characterizing the race, so let's see how their latest polls stack up.
Swing states:
Michigan: Obama +7
Pennsylvania: Obama +5
Nevada: Obama +2
Wisconsin: Tie
Ohio: Tie
Iowa: Romney +1
Florida: Romney +2
New Hampshire: Romney +2
Virginia: Romney +2
Colorado: Romney +3
North Carolina: Romney +6
Romney 267, Obama 243 with Wisconsin and Ohio as a tie.
From Rasmussen Reports:
Voters in Ohio trust Romney more by six points - 50% to 44% - when it comes to handling the economy and by five - 50% to 45% - in the area of job creation. The challenger also has a three-point edge on energy policy, while the president has a two-point trust advantage in the areas of national security and housing policy

You nailed the answer, but not the reason. He thinks nazis were of the right.
That is because the left is driven by narcissism. If he were to admit the left were cousins of his ideology he would have to analyze what he beleives. The left feels they are superior to those that disagree with them in every way. They have a major, inhuman need to feel good about themselves. If they admitted they were similar to nazis, they would not be the good guys, they would not be our intellectual superiors, and they certainly would not be our moral superiors.

Posted by: BeckoningChasm at November 02, 2012 10:59 PM (i0App)
Well, there is a big difference between 2008 and 2012 is that we don't have a financial meltdown happening 45 days before the election. Remember, McCain had led in every poll up until September 15th, 2008, the day Lehmen Brothers collapsed, and the markets tanked. At that point, people were terrified, and this young guy talking about hope came along, and people bought that bullshit. Now, he can't sell anything other than fear, and the only thing people fear is four more years of him.

I had a "date" with my Romanian friend. it went well, we had a good time. only hugging, that is okay though.
but then I ran into this other professor, who quite frankly is hotter, and she mentioned "Yeah, we should do something at some point." and I was kinda turned on, frankly.
but I know she is just being a tease. I don't think she is sincerely interested, or even willing to give me nookie.
so which reminds me. what is the proper stage at which to begin hand-holding or something beyond hugging? I am not sure.

If they have mucho money to burn, one would think they would burn it in places that have a chance of flipping but aren't generally seen as likely based on past trends (i.e. Minnesota, Michigan, etc.). Or use it to sure up the vote in places like FL, VA, etc., just in case.
But WA? Hmm... Are there any close down-ticket races that could account for it, NWConservative?
Posted by: VAgirl at November 02, 2012 11:35 PM (U9x6W)
We have a competitive race up north between John Koster (R) and Suzanne Delbene (D). The district is 50/50 so toss up favoring Koster, almost won in 2010. Down south we have Jaime Herrera (R-inc) is running against Danny Heck (D) who will probably lose. Seat won in 2010. Norm Dicks is retiring with a Dem likely to replace. No other seats are competitive. We may end up with a 5-5 split.
The governor's race is competitive as are several of the other administrative positions. Inslee and Mckenna are outraising all previous competition with Mckenna coming ahead in fundraising.
We usually get D+3% here in Washington State compared to the primary. The primary had Inslee winning with 47% of the vote (with several dems splitting the remaining dem vote). I expected him to win in November with 52-54% of the vote. With Mitt Romney's PACs throwing money into Washington and the gay marriage on the ballot, Republican turnout will be at an all time high.

They stopped during the Clinton administration when homelessness was solved only to have to start back up when Bush II became President. Even though more people are still losing their homes, there is no mention of the homeless. When Mitt becomes President, I expect HBO to start Comic Relief back up.

It's interesting, what creative creatures we humans are, coming up with so many synonyms for sexual organs.
Penis, pecker, phallus, peter, putz all start with P. Just an idle observation.
Dick and cock end on hard consonants.
I wonder if the slang terms used depend on various regions of the country. Pecker sounds Southern, putz is Yiddish, peter sounds Mid-western...
Dick and cock sound British and probably extend back to Old English.

I hope it does pull them over the finish line. Isn't your state the one with the female governor who is a total liberal loon and dressed as Dora the Explorer for Halloween years ago? Or is that an ex-governor or gov. of a nearby state?
I remember a friend from another website who loved to mock said governor for that outfit. It's funny the things we randomly remember 4 years later! LOL!
Posted by: VAgirl at November 03, 2012 12:12 AM (U9x6W)
Yeah that's our governor, Christine Gregoire, who stole the election from Dino Rossi in 2004 and proceeded to make us just like California. Unfortunately for the Democrats, we have a lot of small government libertarians and Republicans up here. We don't have an income tax, and vote it down usually in the margins of 60-80%. We have a lot of reflexive Democrat votes here (usually older/Cali voters). We seem to be the opposite here in that the younger voters are more Republican than the older ones are. Matter of time until we turn back to competitive (unless illegal immigration takes us first, we let them vote here, don't let anyone tell you otherwise).

Are you certain it did make money? Do they include promotion of the film in the "cost." I mean usually they only talk about the cost of producing the movie. I wonder if they include the advertising. And if that makes some films that technically make money are actually still in the hole.

I agree that we can win given the right circumstances (2004...grumble), but then I feel a little queasy when there's ads for Mitt in King County. Ideally you'd want to filter your ads through Portland (Vancouver) and Spokane and leave the Seattle market alone for a statewide race, wouldn't you?
Maybe this is focused more on Koster, Herrera, and any other competitive west-side races in the suburbs?
Agreed on being stuck with Cantwell...I was really hoping we'd knock off Murray in '10. Oh well.

I think a lot of that goes back to ancient Roman words...such as Priapus and Priapeia.
As far as the "p" words for penis.
Dick and Cock probably have some roots in Nordic languages.
Cunny, on the other hand seems to have roots in a lot of ancient languages.
Cunny, quim, coo, cooch.
Kunta is an ancient Norse word...for pussy.

john cusack, doing a Rush movie.
Scenes one two and three, blowhard, drug addict, and racist, sexist. End movie.
Thats my guess.
True Rush Limbaugh, started out as a dj, not rich. started to talk on the radio, and people responded. People Love him because they finally had a voice. not someone who told them what to think, but who thought like them.
Like the msm tries so hard over the years to put out there.
Rush Limbaugh is the reason we have talk radio. And the reason the msm hates him so much, is because he has kicked their ass so much over the years.
Bet this movie wins sad ass awards from Hollywood. I don't care.

There are very few places in this state that I wouldn't keep my car running and run in and do an errend. Most the times I leave my purse in the car while doing so. We do have a few sections that are reservations and most likely wouldn't pull that there but other than that it's a very safe place to be.

443...On top of that, did you see how Christie wants to basically commit insurance fraud? Forget contracts, forget honoring agreements. Sandy is a hurricane when he wants to get his state FEMA relief, but it's not a hurricane when he is trying to get his citizens out of paying their insurance deductible.
---------
Eh? ...No, hadn't heard about that.
I dunno why Christie is playing footsie with Captain Clusterfuck.
Maybe he got threatened with something?
Like withholding funds for NJ?
Or maybe...Christie is thinking ahead to reelection.
But the National Weather Service fucked over the NY/NJ area...by downgrading Sandy to a "Subtropical Cyclone", right before it made landfall.
The NWS didn't issue Hurricane Warnings.
Even though it was still, of course, a hurricane-strength storm.
The NWS did that, because the core temperature of Sandy went below their precious little parameters for what constitutes a 'hurricane'.
Yeah.
Rick Reichmuth, Fox's weather guy...was really pissed off about it.
He ranted about this about three or four times, the night the storm was hitting the coast.

I never liked nor trusted Christie. I mean, I was thrilled he won in 2009. He can be entertaining at times, and he has done well with some things. But I still never trusted the man.
His behavior this week has only mildly surprised me. Personally, I think he is looking to his own 2013 reelection bid, and/or hedging his bets for a cushy appointment from Obama if Romney loses. Outside theory-- he is acting the way he is solely BECAUSE it is bothering people, and he likes annoying folks. Which is dumb, but would also not surprise me.

I am so completely over giving Chris Christie the benefit of the doubt. Major dbag moves all around today.
Did anyone see his most recent tweet? It was 3 hours ago, and it was a picture of him on the phone with the President. This has to be on purpose now. This has gone from a governor doing what's best for his state to a man that is sticking the knife in and twisting it.

I can imagine. The sad thing is many of the clueless wonders surrounding me actually buy it. They actually fall for it and elect these clowns. It's like tonight-- I heard the biggest joke of a radio ad for Cantor's opponent, with this dumb sounding guy using an exaggerated Southern drawl yammering on about how the Dem isn't really a Dem, but a Republican and how conservative he is. Yeah. Sure.
Your method of ID-ing them makes sense too. I would assume there are few exceptions to that rule in the politician world. For myself, in little ol' VAgirl world, the mere thought of dating, let alone marrying, a lib makes my head hurt. I have enough aggravation in life without adding that type of problem to the pile.
Posted by: VAgirl at November 03, 2012 12:54 AM (U9x6W)
Out here in the western part of the Commonwealth, the local Dems radio ads always have some kind of bluegrass music playing with the Dem candidate talking about how he is some kind of "Old Timey Democrat". It is the Dave "Mudcat" Saunder's campaign, and that is who is running Cantor's opponent's campaign. He ran Edwards 08 campaign and likes to package his candidates as being southern and conservative. He keeps failing, but the Dems think he has some kind of winning strategy.

Like withholding funds for NJ?
====
Well, I do remember seeing a comment just before Sandy's landfall that every applicable state was pre-approved for their disaster relief status except for NJ, and there was wondering whether TFG was going to pull a Tennessee NoSeeUm on Christie for having the audacity to be an R and speaking at the convention. I wouldn't put it past the vindictive rat-sucker, maybe Christie didn't either and thought it best to Lie Back and Think Of Jersey.
Christie will do what he thinks will help New Jersey. Some of his ideas along those lines happen to fall under the Republican tent, but that doesn't make him red to the core. I like Christie myself, but I'm heartily glad he resisted any VP temptations -- he's good where he is, but I think ONLY for where he is, and should never go national.

I try to avoid his show on FNC on the weekends, but when I have seen it, it's full of bad production issues - cuts to commercials in the middle of a sentence, Jerry castigating his staff on air, videos not cued up, and then there's "brother Craig" - I figure it's either his production crew hates him and does whatever they can to sabotage the show, or they are all as incompetent as Jerry...

Saunders thinks that this year he is setting up Cantor for defeat in 14. He really thinks that he is tearing him down for the rematch. He did that out here, and the guy lost by a larger margin the 2nd time. He is a folksy guy, and sounds good on the interview shows, but he is more about his self promotion than promoting his candidate.

This would require being able to count to 10,000.
I don't think Chamberlain can do that.

No, he really wasn't. And anyone with a brain knows that just sucking up to Barky doesn't get you jackshit. With Barky it's purely pay-to-play. Flattery goes nowhere with the Indonesian and good faith is not something that barky engages in. If money came from Barky to NJ you can bet your ass it will be turned off right after the election, no matter what. (...)

But of course the spigot will turn off after the election. That means one week after Sandy hit.
After the crucial first days that rescue people from devastation and death.
After Christie can get enough of a footing on the situation that state resources can take it from there.
Christie knows TGF is a shitweasel. But Jersyites learn how cope with shitweasels (since so many of them belong to the species).

Bloomberg is a Dem who switched to R in 2001 to run for Mayor then switched to Independent once elected. It was the only way he would have won following Guiliani in NYC was to run as a Republican. Plus he self funded, and that played into the equation for the GOP to support him. But he did what shitheels do, he stabbed the GOP in the back and has done so since switching.

If they're both on the same channel, put them on different channels so the drivers/motherboard can issue requests to both simultaneously.
Ive build machine with 3 SCSI host adapters where each drive had its own adapter. It made quite a difference.
In a memory constrained system that's doing a lot of paging, it helps to keep the page file on a dedicated spindle and tweak the minimum file system allocation size to at least 4k (or more) to reduce book keeping overhead. I often setup a swap partition with 64k allocation granularity. Defaults for general use partitions are often 512 bytes which creates a lot of book keeping/index overhead.

No, from the stories I heard, Eddie is/was a major league dick with a major league drug problem. The only thing that got snipped off was part of his mouth and tongue.
They put on some great live shows back in the late 70's early 80's. Anthony was the glue that held that shit together because Roth would go off the reservation to do his schtick, Eddie would get caught up in trying to be "rock god", and Alex just thought he was the legend that Eddie was. But Anthony, man did he just keep it tight. Pretty sad what Alex and Eddie did to him so that they could just keep more of the revenues that the band was generating.
I guess

Well we didn't have power, all we had was a radio, so we "heard" about obama's visit and a few soundbites of christie.
My take is this. Christie has to run for reelection. He is going to play this with that in mind. The bottom line is christie made a lot of smart moves in the lead up to the storm. People see him trying his ass off and he's doing pretty good. The power is coming back pretty quick because he already had power companies from other states ready to roll. Btw, a crew from Michigan has been working my area and they are kicking ass. We see bloomberg totally fucking up over there in NYC. Staten island is in deep..deep shit, really bad, as bad as the jersey shore. Christie is handling things better. The attitude on the ground seems the feds aren't doing shit, obama's visit had no impact, and most didn't see it anyway because there was no power, and christie probably won reelection. Nobody is talking about obama.

Any benefit that Obama got from the photo-op has quickly evaporated. He's now been reduced to giving petulant speeches about revenge in front of dwindling crowds. The pollsters' latest attempt to gin up "momentum" for Obama was simply laughable, the "concern" from some on our side absurd. The media can't embargo this story, it's right in their backyard, not in Benghazi or the Mexican border.

We have some millions of people in NYC who voted for Barack Obama 4 years ago. How they are going to vote this year is anybody's guess, if they happen to be without power, water, waste disposal, gasoline, etc. If you live on Staten Island, for example, voting is the last thing on your mind.
These people are already angry. They are angry today.
Now, if by some chance - remote though it may be - Mitt Romney wins the election on Tuesday night, and these people wake up and hear that their messiah has lost - and they didn't get to vote?
This is unpredictable, of course, but there's an outside chance that these already very cranky people are going to boil over.
I've just gotten power back. I took what seemed like a seven hour shower, and as soon as I could get my hands on some real food I cooked a feast (it was risotto, actually). I *cannot imagine* what it's like in the high rises, without working toilets, no way to get back up to your house (other than a 50 flight climb). I cannot imagine what it's like to see your house with six feet of water in it.
If Obama loses - and I pray fervently to God that he does - is there any chance that Mayor Big Gulp, Governors No Gas (both of them), and the National Guard (which, amazingly, is not deployed) are ready for what might happen?

Wahabis are the problem not the solution.
They like to destroy old stuff calling it idolatry.

If Obummer doesn't lose, I'M going to riot. I am not sure how exactly cuz I haven't been to training yet. But dammit, some hopeless futile and insane gesture will have to be done and I am just the moron to do it.

He's a bit farther than 15 miles. The millington I know of is north jersey. I haven't heard anything about that area flood wise, so chances are at worst he probably just lost power, and probably some trees. We didn't get internet until some hours after getting power back, because comcast was down, so your friend not having email doesn't surprise me. He isn't all that far from westfield, and they lost 1000 trees up there, so chances are he don't have power yet. Its probably a mess.

yeah we lost some trees. I had no power for 3-4 days. The generator saved my ass. We didn't get much rain, probably not even an inch, so the sump pit was bone dry. In my area it was wind damage knocking over trees left and right that were taking out power lines, and a shitload of transformers blowing up. I made it through OK, but alot of stores don't have perishables yet, and gas is getting scarce. Still better off than the people by the shore. The shore areas were just about wiped off the map.

This POS knows that he's lost and this is the surest sign yet.
And if there was any doubt whether this communist fraud was going to go out with grace, there's a preview.

No, I have an unhealthy level of hate for that jugeared piece of Marxist shit and his ugly bitch wife. I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual.
