Congratulations Obama - You've Made Gas More Expensive Than It was in 1979

In real dollars no less. So that's one campaign promise kept.

Next step: A wind and Algaehol-based economy that will make European Greens weep with sustainable tears of joy.

The Adam Carolla-Dennis Prager Show

So two weeks ago I went to the joint shows that Adam and Dennis did together in Redondo Beach and had a very entertaining evening. I've been a fan of both for a while so it was like a custom-made show for me. They're a very well matched pair and the combination was a great mix of the profound, the stupid, and the funny.

Among the topics discussed was whether an atheist like Adam could go to heaven (yes - but only to Jew-heaven according to Dennis), why it's better to outsource your kids' theological questions to the Guatemalan nanny, how much pets cost including the cost of having your turtle's penis removed (A: $1800 in Santa Monica), and how radio is one of the few professions that appears laughably easy to do to other people when you get good at it .

Unfortunately I just flew in for the evening and had to leave the next morning so I had no time to socialize with any of the SoCal sub-morons. Crying face

Patterico Remembers Breitbart

I was there at the elegant home, and indeed, people spoke all night about the sharp contrast between the fun-loving guy who made us all laugh and the portrait painted by the left of an angry man who hated the left. I talked to leftists who said he had argued politics with them, passionately, and then would hug them afterwards.

And it wasn't just friends. I talked to someone last night who said that he would work with people who talked about how they hated Breitbart. When this person told Andrew about these people, he would say: "Invite them to dinner!" And Andrew would go out and eat with the haters. And the haters would inevitably say, afterwards: "I wanted to hate him. I came prepared to hate him. But he's a heck of a charming, funny guy."

One of the people speaking at the reception talked about the way Andrew would often end a phone call. He would be talking on and on, and when it was time to go, he would say, suddenly: "Okay, bye!" Boom. And he'd be gone.

And whoever it was who pointed that out (I can't remember who it was), they made the point that he died the same way.

Okay, bye!

And he was gone.

Diplomacy Now Threatening Airline Security

International airline security is only as strong as its weakest link. And that link seems to be the Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport which is now controlled by Hezbollah.

Hezbollah's aborted putsch in Beirut in 2008 involved, among other things, control over the lucrative airport. One of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's more short-sighted compromises was to agree to the Doha Accords which empowered Hezbollah in Lebanon's domestic scene in exchange for quiet. Along the way, Hezbollah regained sway over airport operations, even if its members wear Lebanon Army Uniforms when at the facility. It should give every American chills that many of the airport workers handling Lufthansa, Air France, and other flights which transfer luggage to the United States swear fealty to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.

Alas, Beirut is no longer alone. Turkish Air, a member of the Star Alliance and a partner to United Airlines and USAir, has initiated service to Mogadishu, Somalia. Bags checked in Mogadishu can now find their way to New York, Washington, and Los Angeles among other destinations.

The Lockerbie bombing occurred when Libyan agents smuggled a bomb onto a Pan Am feeder flight in Malta. The Malta leak may be plugged, but do American security officials truly believe the same is true in either Beirut or Mogadishu?

But no one wants to say anything lest they upset the 'fragile peace' in the middle east. And so the TSA keeps patting down little old ladies and confiscating your shampoo to maintain the security theater.

US Sharia Watch: MI Judge Judge Pressures Ex-Husband to Give Ex-Wife an Islamic Divorce; Court of Appeals Reverses

My view, for the reasons I mentioned as to the Jewish religious divorces, is that the trial court in this case was wrong and the court of appeals was right: Given the Establishment Clause, it should be no business of a secular court to try to pressure someone into performing a religious act.

LGF Now Embracing Louis Farrakhan

It's come to this.

"He also has a strong message of responsibility and self-reliance for young African Americans, and that is why [critical race theory proponent Professor Derrick] Bell described him as a hero."
"Farrakhan does have a positive, empowering component to his message."

Lizardoidia has always been at peace with East Farrakhan.

Okay I think most of us have got the first two rules of Fight Club down but do you know the other six rules?

The Ultimate Tattoo

It's been a month since Winston Kemp was struck by lightning, but the pattern of the electrical discharge is still visible on his skin. This is a Lichtenberg figure - the branching pattern made by electricity. Kemp didn't see a doctor at the time, but he feels fine, although he thinks that his skin will keep this awesome scar.

Cool story bro.

The Ultimate Sesame Street Quiz

How well do you really know your S. Street?

This Sesame Street quiz at PBS has 48 questions, which should be easy for those who grew up watching Sesame Street. I, however, was lucky to score 40%. When the results come up, you'll be able to watch clips that explain answers to many of the questions.

Modern Love: Man Breaks Penis on First Date

Ouch. But then there's this which may give you a hint as to what went down:

Somehow the conversation turns to Margaret Thatcher. Somehow Margaret Thatcher becomes a recurring topic. Somehow Margaret Thatcher becomes our go-to sexual depressant. Somehow Margaret Thatcher ends up sitting naked on a suburban fence, legs swinging and twirling a top hat. Occasionally Reagan makes an appearance, too.

9 Forget 'gas prices'.

Obama loses as voters become part of the $100 Gas Tank Demographic.

Truck owners already pay over $100.

4 door sedans have 20 gallon tanks, an $4.50 gas will convert them to the GOP.

Etc, etc.

Couple of Twitter questions just in case you have answers.

1) My kindle lets me "quote" a tweet as part of a re-tweet but I'm not finding that on either IE or Firefox.  Am I just missing it?

2) People I don't know are following me and I feel sorry for them because they're going to be bored to tears.  It looks like at least a couple are people I re-tweeted, is it okay if I don't follow them back?

----------------------

Like most cities, it's seen better days.  Most of the suburbs to the South and East are nice.  However, the North-West is having troubles with expanding blight.  We have a nice little dope war going on between to black criminal street gangs: most of the homicides and shootings are of misunderstood minority yoots.

As far as politics is concerned, the Democrats are pretty firmly in control and most people think the donks are for the "little guy."  That's why Dayton is no longer a manufacturing town.

I like to think of Twitter as the world's largest focus group.  For instance, add hastag #rimjobbing and your post is tracked by every sex shop on six continents.

101 91 If you don't use those hash tags then only those people following you will see your tweets. Say you retweet ace or reply with a brillant comment if you don't # or @ then no one sees it. You just add #breitbart for example when you have something nice to say. Hell I blocked all those anti-breitbart commentors but they weren't following me so it didn't matter.

When I grew up in Dayton in the 60's, it was still a pretty nice medium sized city.

Since then it has gone downhill in a pretty big way.  Most of the GM plants are gone, NCR is gone, most of the major manufacturing is gone, the quality of life and standard of living has probably declined.  Whenever I go back there (rarely now) it is just pretty depressing.

The major employer in the area is now probably the Air Force (Wright-Patterson AFB).  There are towns around the city that might not be too bad, but my cousin who just retired as a Dayton cop (required to live in the city because of residency rules) couldn't wait to get out of the city and moved to a house in Bellbrook (southeast of Dayton).

I grew up in Dayton and I wouldn't move back there unless it was a really great job and allowed me to live in one of the better suburbs (usually to the east or south of the city).

193 LGF = Little Green Footballs. Originally libtard spewings, after 9/11, became an anti-Islamist hawk. Famous for creating the Dan Rather "fake-but-accurate" animated picture showing that the memo was made using modern typography on a laser printer. About three years ago, started reverting to liberal douchebaggery, even going so far as to repudiate his previous stands on many issues. Now, the site is a laughable caricature of a DKos loon foaming at the mouth about "creationists" and "Muslim-haters." Has an unhealthy fascination with Pamela Geller. Sandra Fluke - is she? or isn't she? Only her bikini waxer knows for sure.

317 From ABC: After failing to appear on the ballot in Virginia and losing his chance at more than a quarter of the delegates in Ohio, Santorum now faces similar problems in Washington, D.C. and Illinois. Santorum will not be on the ballot in D.C.'s primary because the campaign did not pay the $5000 fee, nor did he request a petition for signatures. In Illinois, Santorum failed to file slates of delegates in a handful of congressional districts, similar to his problem in Ohio.

343 the earlier thread on critical race theory needs to be bumped to the top of the aoshq every day from now until the day after the election. then another ten years. we need to bang the critical race theory and possibly the critical race theory drum like that blonde from the big bang theory after you caught her stealing money from your wallet . it is important for people, especially people of good will, to know that they are dealing with people that hate them and their country and that there is no accommodating them. the blonde also needs a really good spanking.

353 @dave_in_fla on twitter

You can't get banned from twitter.  Trust me, there is almost nothing you can say or do that will get you banned.  Credible death threats and child porn are the only things I can think of.  Others can block you, and you can go to "twitter jail" if you tweet too much in a short period of time.  But you will be able to tweet again in about an hour.

As for etiquette, there are a lot of different ways it is used.  Don't expect the big names (including Ace) to answer you back.  They get so many mentions that you get lost in the noise.  But the mere mortals will generally strike up a conversation.  It isn't a problem chatting back and forth with a follower, since most folks don't see it, unless they follow both of you.

DMs are generally ok too, unless someone says something in their profile about them.  You have to be mutually following to DM though.

360 "it is important for people, especially people of good will, to know that they are dealing with people that hate them and their country and that there is no accommodating them."

My take on it is that it leads to antiwhite hate crimes. And antiwhite hate crimes are bad. (Shocking and controversial!)

That kid who was doused with petrol and set afire last week, in Kansas City? The teachers at his school may as well have lit the match.

The fall of Detroit, too, can be laid at the door of antiwhite racists. There were no "riots" in 1968. It was a pogrom. Read that again. The "riot" in Detroit, which Romney's dad failed to put out in spectacular fashion - it. Was. A. Pogrom. And it worked.

This needs to be spread around.

I don't care if it's viewed as extremist. Bell, Cone, and the rest of the "Afrocentrists" are spreading racism against whites; racism against whites kills and expels whites; and the loss of whites from a city ALSO HURTS BLACKS.

I prefer the honesty of his outright hatred to the way Sharpton and Jackson hide theirs and try and act self righteous about crap.

About the fibro, yeah, apparently a lot of these drugs were developed to treat epilepsy and turned out to be total duds, but then they ended up being terrific for other things, like migraines and fibro.

* That old joke about the man who goes to confession and tells the priest, "Father, I'm 80 years old, and I'm having a hot and steamy affair with my gorgeous 24 year old blonde secretary, and on top of that, I've become even more passionate behind her back with her beautiful brunette 18 year old sister."
The priest says, "when was your last confession, my son?" and he replies, "Oh, this is my first one."
"Your first one?? How come?"
"Well, Father, I'm Jewish."
"Jewish?! Then why are you telling me?"
"Oh, I'm telling everyone!"

385 Dunno if stuckonstupid is still around  but it sounds like twilightfan saved managment the bother of firing her. Unless they did and are trying to keep things quiet.

From the response he got when he asked if she was twilight fan and she said yes before realizing she had signed that on her death threat email and how things have gone downhill from there I would say she has quit or been fired by now.  Flipping out in a lunchroom full of witnesses isn't the most stable looking thing she could have done.

Cheboy probably has been spoken to about talking to sos by now as well, which would explain why he is reluctant to come near him.  At this point he has probably figured out that he is no longer shielded by his supervisor and his new one probably would like to see him go as well.

I would say that Heckle and Jeckle were friends of either cheboy or twilighttwit.

I think what drove them all overboard is that sos wouldn't back down and take the abuse.  Seems to always drive leftards nuts when they go out of their way to try and make you miserable and you just keep on trucking.

One other thing, if sos or Wolverine are ever in the Eau Claire-Menomonie are of Northern Wisconsin let me know.  I know a place that makes some really good prime rib on wednesdays and saturdays.

This account was suspended for sending multiple unsolicited messages using the @reply and/or mention feature. These features are intended to make communication between people on Twitter easier. Twitter monitors the use of these features to make sure they are used as intended and not for abuse. It is also stupid. Obama's father was a continent away from the tribes that were forced into Western slavery, and yet Obama is the same "race" as say Samuel L Jackson?

Or look at WWII. The Russians were distinctly more "Aryan" then the Southern Europeans who were a-ok with the German National Socialists.

388 A modern day cowboy has spent many days crossing the Texas plains without water. His horse has already died of thirst. He's crawling through the sand, certain that he has breathed his last breath, when all of a sudden he sees an object sticking out of the sand several yards ahead of him. He crawls to the object, pulls it out of the sand, and discovers what looks to be an old briefcase. He opens it and out pops a genie. But this is no ordinary genie. She is wearing a FEMA ID badge and a dull gray dress. There's a calculator in her pocketbook. She has a pencil tucked behind one ear. 'Well, cowboy,' says the genie... 'You know how I work. You have three wishes.' 'I'm not falling for this.' said the cowboy. 'I'm not going to trust a FEMA genie.' 'What do you have to lose? You've got no transportation, and it looks like you're a goner anyway!' The cowboy thinks about this for a minute, and decides that the genie is right. 'OK, I wish I were in a lush oasis with plenty of food and drink.' ***POOF*** The cowboy finds himself in the most beautiful oasis he has ever seen and he is surrounded with jugs of wine and platters of delicacies. 'OK, cowpoke, what's your second wish.' 'My second wish is that I was rich beyond my wildest dreams.' ***POOF*** The cowboy finds himself surrounded by treasure chests filled with rare gold coins and precious gems. 'OK, cowpuncher, you have just one more wish. Better make it a good one!' After thinking for a few minutes, the cowboy says... 'I wish that no matter where I go, beautiful women will want and need me.' ***POOF*** He turned into a tampon. The moral of the story: If the government offers you anything, there's going to be a string attached.

His wife is a member of the teachers' union. The Detroit School System is a complete shambles financially and academically. There are people out there who specialize in turning school districts around financially, and there are people who specialize in turning districts around academically. When it comes time to hire a superintendent or assistant superintendent, do they go out and hire these people? Of course not. The top requirement is that the administrator must be black. Everyone knows this and no one will talk about it, including the white teachers in the teachers' union who are against anything the governor tries to do to fix the mess. Of course these same teachers who won't support the governor would never in a million years send their own kids to that district. The worst thing about the teachers' union in Michigan is that they really don't give a rat's ass how bad the predominantly black districts are.

438 leftard, Go easy on Bill Mayher, he's not aging well and it has to be tough on him. I'm serious here. Looking like an old queen has to make it really tough to pick up chicks. And speaking of unfunny teevee personalities, I saw about 3 minutes of Letterman last week. Holy crap has his show gone downhill! I'm not just saying this because I hate his political views. He was soooo bad I can't believe they're still paying him. He was doing the same "funny dumb guy" voice that he did 15 years ago. And it is WORSE. The idiot voice and mugging for the camera is definitely not the kind of comedy material that holds up for 20 years. Maybe if he weren't banging his employees, one of them would actually tell him the truth about how bad his show has gotten.

440 PA, I recommend high intensity workouts for weight loss.

Go buy a medicine ball. Look some workouts up on YouTube and do two 20-30 minute workouts a week that make you want to die. In between them, do something that shocks your body--weird shit like yoga one week, running the next, free weights the next, etc...

I've found that mixing things up and keeping your body guessing helps you lose weight.

No sets. No breaks in between exercises. Just go for an average of 30 minutes non-stop--one thing after another.

The Detroit Public School System had a competent black superintendent a few years ago. When she began delving into the system's accounting and spending habits, she ended up being forced to resign. Sadly, I have to report that Bachmann edged out Perry by 15 votes. Perry (with 64) was able to kick the asses of Gary and Jon by the resounding margins of 40 and 30 votes respectively.

She was getting closer to that, and revised it as she saw how things were proceeding, and as of last week, she is well-past XXX and isn't using YYY any more (how's THAT for a drastic reduction!). So to some degree we're in "safety zone / bonus"-land already. But what sweet, sweet bonuses there are.....

This program has defined phases -- the current phase is entirely synthetic prepackaged meals, and the next phase incorporates actual vegetables and fruits. It is well understood that there's not an "off the leash" sort of thing -- but the prospect of actual identifiable foodstuffs makes the next phase much more enticing than the current one.

I've read the scorecard.  Here's what's printed on it: "Individual Dems don't do wrong, they are just unfairly persecuted by da man.  Individual Repubs caught doing wrong are just an indication that every other Repub is just as evil as the one that got caught."

this line of reasoning always cracked me up.

old film of young wimmenz /= young film of old wimminz.

When I was in high school a teacher showed the Hunchback.  He asked what we thought and I told him that I thought Maureen O'Hara was hot.  He made some comment about her age and I told him she looked pretty damn good then.  We traded a couple more comments and then I told him, "I'm 17, you look like you're 40, do I really have to explain this to you?"

I spent the next hour at the principal's office.  My Dad just laughed.

57 States?

Posted by: jc at March 13, 2012 11:26 PM (ufJKx)

687 Brisket is the most common cut used for corned beef, although other cuts can also be used. Corned beef is beef that is cured in a salt brine, often with spices. Some meat-packers actually inject the brine into the arterial network.

The term corned comes not from the vegetable corn, but from the English term corn, meaning any small particle, such as the coarse-grained salt which was used for curing.

In your market, you'll most likely find the newer style of corned beef, a rosy red color, vacuum-sealed in a bath of brine. Old-fashioned corned beef is more grayish-pink in color and more salty.

Luckily, most of today's corned beef is processed without nitrates (saltpeter), which used to be used as a preservative against botulism and to maintain the bright red color. Some studies have shown nitrates to be a cancer-causing agent, so most foods are moving away from this preserving method.

From http://homecooking.about.com/od/beef/a/cornedbeef.htm -- who are much more helpful right now than the "internet people" delusions I have at this time of night.

690 Corned is one of those techniques invented before refrigeration. Them old days also gabe us yummy condiments like horseradish and hot sauce. Pickled, brined, jellied... who needs a fridge!

Posted by: vika at March 13, 2012 11:30 PM (sqVOl)

691 Which gets me back to my original problem -- all the markets are running specials on "corned beef", mainly using brisket, and I'm thinking of trying to make something edible out of it. What I'm seeing a lot of is "boil for 3-4 hours" or "crock-pot for 6-8 hours" and this sounds like a good way to get "soylent grey".

This is entirely driven by greed. It's not that I can't cook, or that I couldn't come up with a few interesting things to do with just about anything at a meat counter......it's that there are very cheap corned briskets for St. Pat's, and I'm looking to take advantage of that.

Hell, I convection-roast a mean tri-tip with a chili/garlic/mustard/pepper rub mixed to a paste with Olive oil and brushed on. But those are currently about $8/pound and can be 3 pounds -- and are much more than one guy can eat, even with leftovers.

Now I get it, sorry. Rinse the meat to get all the 'cure' off of it--might be worthwhile to soak/rinse a couple of times to desalinate it--then do your smoke/roast on it. HTH.

Posted by: Generic at March 14, 2012 03:48 AM (szPD/)

This is kind of what I'm thinking. "De-corning" a cheap corned beef, then preparing it in a tasty way. I didn't previously know that I'd have to do anything to affirmatively de-corn it, but the salt-cure and injected language is sounding like I'd better. Hmmmm....

Alternatively, they're running a special on Irish beer.....maybe that'd be the better investment.

718 Why would you avoid the best solution? Personally, I would rather use the smoker. Anyone got half a boar? How about ox on a spit?

719 Oh, BTW -- Cuisinart is discontinuing some colors for their CSB-76 stick blender, so I got one in dark blue at a sur la table today for $23. Oddly, they're discontinuing one of the two colors that don't make my eyes hurt. On Amazon, the CSB-77 has more negative reviews than the CSB-76 despite costing more -- evidently, they have an odd tendency to strip teeth and go dead.

Greed.

721 .....although greed has its limits. The whole "pink slime" stuff is getting on my nerves.

722 US Considers Holding Trial in Afghanistan. Fucking imbeciles. He should already be stateside. You would think we want to fan the flames.

723 Good luck, cthulhu.  Hope your Roasted/Smoked/BBQ Brisket is a smashing success!

Posted by: Generic at March 14, 2012 12:14 AM (szPD/)

724 I'd consider having the trial for our guy over there right after we have a trial at Guantanamo for all the Afghans that fragged our guys.

A hamburger with a nice thick slice of ham and a fried egg to top it off. Heart attack city here I come.

But a yummy way to go.

727 Don't eat the bread, G. It will be fine.

728 Well, guys, you've wasted a perfectly useful night hanging out on the ONT. I, myself, am shambling off to a well-deserved slumber. See y'all tomorrow night!

729 Don't eat the bread? LOL Got to eat the bread. Dont  want to get the mayo, sweet baby rays, and ketchup all over my keyboard. Was gonna throw some honey on it too but we are all out.

730 Were they any similar but Republican? Or do the Democrats truly have the patent on that kind of institutionalized corruption?

Lots of corrupt Republicans.

733 Did I mention I hate kids and spring break?

I think Rick Santorum should take the focus off  borth control and put it on the social evil that really needs fixing...this weeklong hedonist ritual we encourage the chilluns to engage in.  Get rid of spring break and I guarantee teen pregnancy rates crash.

Posted by: Robert at March 14, 2012 12:31 AM (4ixH5)

734 Note, I'm not coming out against hedonism.  Any sexy 'Ette is free to come over and spread hot melted chocolate all over my  belly.

At this point, I think I'll vote for a steaming pile of horse poo as long as barky has to choose between kenya or indonesia on Jan 21, 2013

Where should I send the burger?

741 Chocolate is not sexy. Women spend a lot of their lives cleaning smeared shit off of people.

742 You need to switch to a better grade of chocolate.

745 Go smear it on your man and consider it a rehearsal for old age.

Uh, I don't have a man, I am a man married to a woman. If I smeared chocolate on her I would be a divorced man.

Im old already. Not elderly but old. Does that make sense?

Caramel is good, too.

Should I smear it on myself?

Posted by: fluffy at March 14, 2012 01:11 AM (vRSeu)

749

Never have like caramel. Stuff just taste wrong to me.  I think I'll pass on smearing stuff onto anyone.

Especially those that dont want stuff smeared on them.

750 Police diffused a bomb in Kandahar city about forty five minutes ago. On a motorcycle. Good job! Keep it up.

755 Good Morning ONT Morons.  My question on the MI judge is why hasn't he been disbarred yet?  I know this is a rhetorical question since it takes lawyers to disbarr lawyers, which is a clear conflict of interest.

But some acts should be so egregious that they be immediately disbarred. You can bet that if a judge has called for imposition of Talmudic law he would have been immediately disbarred.

756 Whats up with Samoa and Guam and Peurto Rico having primarys anyway? Why should they be allowed to select a candidate they can't vote for in the general election?
------------------------------

But they are American citizens and the DO get to vote in the general elections.
