Or more likely it'll make a lot of Chinese 'Golden Children' weep since it'll be their money that's gone forever. This is the estimated US national debt as a percentage of GDP. Anything above say 180% is pretty much unexplored territory for a modern First World country.
Dr. Phil Joins the Smear Parade
Before military veterans were portrayed by the media as victims of Bushitler! - now the new narrative is that they're all PTSD-screwed up ticking time bombs.
Dr. Phil, arguably one of the most popular talk show hosts on the planet, decided to feature this issue on his show this week. And while he could have taken a reasonable approach, he went straight for the gut instead. Titling the show "From Heroes To Monsters", he painted a picture of vets with PTSD as ticking time bombs of violence, describing them as damaged goods who "destroy families" and "dismantle marriages".One of Dr. Phil's guests, Matt, is a former Marine who struggles with PTSD. He speaks about how, while deployed to Afghanistan, he repeatedly stabbed an enemy combatant in the face, even after he was dead, to get his anger out. He also claims he saw "lots" of innocent people killed, including women and children. (His last name isn't given, so it's impossible to verify his claims of killing women and children while deployed to Afghanistan.) After Matt, Dr. Phil featured Mark and Heather. Mark is another veteran with PTSD who admits he has violent rages, says his life has been destroyed, and is afraid of what he will do to his family.

The Grillcube is basically a cardboard box o' charcoal that simplifies your lighting process. Simply light the box up via the cardboard wick integrated in the air flue, allow it to burn away, and your charcoal will be ready in about 10 minutes. There's no acrid lighter fluid or sooty bags of charcoal to deal with, just hot, fired-up hardwood coal begging you to pile meat and vegetables on top. The charcoal in the cube provides about 30 minutes of grill time

Then bring in the Schoolgirl Falconer:
The prefectural government of Saga, plagued by hordes of crows that attack trash and farms around their offices, has hired a high school student who is known as Japan's only "schoolgirl falconer", one Misato Ishibashi (17), a 3rd year at Takeo High School in Takeo City. Saga has entrusted Misato's falcons with ridding the offices of their crows. Misato, who freely manipulates falcons, often participates in competitions to expel avian pests and the like. After the prefecture received word of her getting top honors in a national competition, governor Yasushi Furukawa sent her the request. On the evening of April 4th, Misato brought her 7-year-old male falcon "Momotaro" to the prefectural headquarters for a test flight. When Momotaro was released, dozens of crows burst out of the trees and flew away or tried to hide in the shadows. After several such flights, their cries could no longer be heard. "They won't be back for a while," said Misato.
...Says Misato with an air of confidence, "The falcon is a divine punishment against crows. When their eyes meet the glare of the falcon, they will definitely not return."
But note that if you fly her in for some falconry, well there are rules:

I was in an H&R Block this morning getting my taxes done (last day of April for hoser tax returns) and in the lobby was a big all-caps poster reading, "Do new U.S. tax LAW$ affect you?" and there was a small index-card-sized card attached to my agent's monitor top reading, "The IRS requires U.S. citizens to file" in big letters and in small letters, "[...] even if you didn't earn U.S. income."
I said something to the agent and told him, "Luckily I'm not from California or New York state!" that elicited a chuckle from him.

My youngest (#4) son had a harrowing experience late last night/ early AM. He was working on a school project (heÂ’s a senior engineering student)at around midnight when he realized he needed a book from his car. So he left his apartment to go to his car. All of a sudden, he is surrounded by 3 black guys who started messing with him but never stated what they actually wanted. (Ay this point, please forgive me for any inaccuracies in hearsay, but maybe when I see the police report I can clarify/add more information.)
The lead guy kept pawing at him while the other 2 stayed behind him, and had managed t pull bruiser’s hoodie off (he probably wanted to get it over his head, but that move didn’t work). My son kept pawing back, trying to keep as much distance as possible. This is probably as good a place as any to say that (“I‘ll call him ‘Bruiser’”) owns hand guns but has not received a concealed carry permit yet. So far he has kept his right hand in his pocket on his keys, and has used his left to keep the guy at a distance. Finally, the sucker punch came and hit Bruiser square in the jaw. Bruiser used a wresting move and took the guy to the ground in a head lock, and since he was much bigger than his assailant, was able to get him in a suffocsting position while still keeping his right hand around the keys. The downed guy kept flailing at the back of Bruisers head, and one of the assistants joined in, thought he was hitting his buddy as many times just because of the geometry of the situation.
Finally, Bruiser felt his guy go limp. And he knew he has him subdued. So he lunged at the orther guy with a uppercut with the key in his right fist, and caught him in the neck under his chin. He said he could feel the moment when the key broke through the skin and enter his mouth cavity. This guy then ran off toward the car they arrived in. The fist guy was still limp on the ground, and the third guy finally tried to make a move to tackle Bruiser from the side. Bruiser is a pretty big guy, but not very tall. The tackle attempt didnÂ’t have much effect, and Bruiser was able to grab and twist the guyÂ’s arm into position where he could get his other arm into position to give a thrust under the guys constrained arm and separate his shoulder. Meantime, the guy on the ground had also stated for the car.
Bruiser now knew he had a decision to make. He had the upper hand. Two guys on the run, and one at his mercy. He say’s he think he could have taken out all three with his bare hands at that point, and would probably be justified. But then he thought of Zimmerman’s mess, and quickly decided he was in a no-win situation. So he then went pounding on all the nearest apartment doors shouting “call 911!” since his own phone was in his own apartment. Nobody was responding, the attackers were getting some bravery back, and started coming back at him, and yelling “If you call the cops, we’ll come back and killed you.” So he grabbed a quarter out of his pocket, ran close enough to their car to read the licence plates, and use the quarter to scratch the licence number into the blacktop. He knew by now they weren’t armed in any fashion, and shouted back, “If you come back, I have guns and I will kill you!”
A momentary standoff ensued, the guys got in their car, and Bruiser went back into his apartment, called the police, and gave them a complete account, including the death threats and letting the cops know that he is indeed armed in his apartment, and that the attackers were duly warned, again, because of the Zimmerman BS. He then called me and I spent the rest of the night and the next morning with him to help calm him down.
The EMS examined all BruiserÂ’s bruises about his face and head, determined that no emergency treatment was necessary. They only cleaned the the keyed guyÂ’s blood off his hand in case there was any chance of AIDS or other infection.
Current situation: No word from the cops, a hoodie and cr keys are missing, Bruiser is badly brusied around the face and head, has a black eye and the whites of his eye are red, but they they never did draw blood. Oh, and I am one proud papa. Oh, and being the youngest of 4 boys has its advantages (just like his dad.)

When I think of Blade Runner I can't help but think o Star Wars. There's a couple of versions of Star Wars and that sends the fans over the edge in a frenzy of stupidity. There's more version of Blade Runner yet the thing is continually hailed as some sort of triumph (nevermind it was continually ignored until five or six years ago or whenever the latest re-edit came out).
Also, Cube was a made for cable feature.
To that list I would further add Gattaca, which is such a wonderful movie and the best Uma Thurman movie not called Pulp Fiction.

Well you can look at that as a difference in what the different versions are. In Blade Runner it seems to be more of an editorial difference between the versions. So you are still going on what was originally filmed. In Star Wars, George Lucas is trashing what was originally there for new effects, and shooting altogether new scenes.

I think we hashed out the movie thing on the two prior posts. Some 25 year old's asinine opinions. I'm amazed he found even one movie older than 40 years to put on the list. When I wake up I click the movie channels to find some decent black and white film (usually) older than me to watch.

Thanks all for your congrats and concerns. This happened in Akron. Bruiser does not live too near campus (he didn't wan't the temptations, distractions, rent.) But he will be moving back in with us as soon as this semester is over. He has a couple courses to finish up, and he has had a couple other scary (though not physical) incidents before. We are truly blessed to get through this, and I'll be glad to have a really nifty fixit guy back at home.
However, I think the civility of our society has taken a major hit over the last few years. Especially sad, since (in my own little world) I thought things were actually starting to go pretty well.

I bought an old Dell laptop a couple months ago just to keep up in all things internet when my wife was on our home computer. Too damn often as I am typing the cursor will jump to a completely different spot, usually a couple lines back or som other stupid thing. It happens when I put weight on the lower part of the computer. Any ideas what is causing it.
Back to sex with dead wife. Did the Egyption say weather it was okay to warm the carcass in the microwave if it's cold?

that was a really interesting article. I have been verbally sparring with a friends brother and this pretty much summed up the man and all of his faults perfectly. whick is really sad. His sister has asked me to see if i coulld help his suicidal teenage daughter with some horse work and mentoring, and i would love to, but he must first be won over to see the utility of such activity for his child.
I cant very well say "She needs to be gotten FAR AWAY from you, YOU DOUCHE!!!" if i want him to trust me enough to let her spend time with me

Who kept a dead whore in his cave
There's some who might dread
At sex with the dead
But think of the money he saved

Yep, that's what my laptop does, right side of the touchpad scrolls and it's sensitive. There should be a way to turn it off or turn the sensitivity down in the touchpad/mouse settings.

Most touchpads have this it seems. My Dell Laptop had it. And so does my Acer. My Dell didn't really have an indicator on it that it existed but my Acer does
They should bring up an icon with the cursor to let you know when they are behaving as a scroll bar though.

On this one thing they saw public outrage and caved. Guess they figure they may want a few votes in flyover country.

for anyone who wants to seriously consider poly households one need only think about all the crappy shit girls play in High School. Now think of those girls in your house, running (passive agressively ruining) your domestic life, playing all of those "Pay attention to ME, NOW!" and "No, i wanna be the most special, SHES A BITCH" games and you CANT GET AWAY.
and they are cooking your food.
its enough to make you understand why someone would prefer their wives dead. and like having an option to beat them.

In Brave New World Huxley actually saw the stupid as being necessay for the funcioning of an orderly society. Thy were actually cultivated through embronic ethanol applications, and were assigned specific funtions within the Utopian society. Maybe Huxley wasn't as foresighted as todays thinkers to see robots as fulfilling the nasty and dirty jobs needed in a funtioning society.
So now we overpay overqualified people to do these necessary jobs as technology continuously fails to provive the automation dreamed of by the progressives. So we pay double, for the overqualified to dot these jobs, and by paying the qualified to do absolutey nothing in order to avoid dregrading their humanity.

***sob*** When will we get links back? And formatting?
If we can get an AcePac together with the expressed written consent that it will be used to buy new 40W full-spectum fluoescent fixtures and NOT be squandred on Value-Rite, liquid smoke, dehydrators, and blogcon dues, thenI think we have come a long way in righting thid so-called ship of state.

I have the exact same problem on a Dell 1525 model. It was also noted on a lot of other model from the same era that used similar design. All too often the reference platform will originate within a company contracting to Intel or the company that does a lot of the manufacturing work, like Mitac. So a flaw can find its way across many brands.
The only cure I know is to disable the touchpad and use a mouse. The body around the touchpad isn't rigid enough and registers your palms as inputs. If you look around you'll some laptops were advertised as specifically not having this problem, a sort of 'this should never have been an issue in the first place but we can claim it' approach to marketing.

I get blue screened a lot on this dell studio lappie.. seems to happen as I move or touch the screen..I now wonder if that's touch pad related?

Could possibly be cured by pulling apart and making sure every connector is well seated.

Yeah, done that Epo,, stripped the board and proc, new ram, it's also the second one with the same problem. The guy gave it to me as he was sick of dealing with it.. I only use it for internet so no big deal if I reboot once in a while. anyhoo Dell replaced the first one after first fixing and having the same problem. then the 2nd one started 124 error.

Try doing a "custom" windows update (instead of the "express" that runs by default) and seeing if there are any newer drivers.

Have you searched around for any evidence this is a common issue for the product? If so, and it's still under warranty, you may be able to get Dell to exchange it for a different unit. This can make for a cheap upgrade to a newer generation.
Posted by: epobirs at April 26, 2012 11:50 PM (kcfmt)
That's probably the problem as it will not show for a long time then a winblows update will set it off again. I'll have to start reverting drivers,, but not today..
Posted by: beanervt at April 27, 2012 12:03 AM (KZLoo)
Yes and tried all the suggestions, other then board replacement.. which didn't help the first one. At some point I'd like to put linux on it to see if that has the problem..

The 670 will likely be a cut down version of the 680. In other words, the exact same chip with a few fewer function units. Where do you suppose those come from? Yep, defective 680s. It take a while to build up some inventory of chips that didn't quite make it as full spec but are fine with a block here and there disabled.
A time honored tradition going back at least as far as when an Intel manager found himself wondering what could be done about the portion of 80486 chips with bad FPUs. Lo, and the 486SX was brought unto the world.

Indoctrination 101: Duncan Approves of Schools Teaching Protest Techniques
EAGnews.org brought you footage of Black Star Project community organizer Phillip Jackson teaching students in Chicago Public Schools' Jones College Prep the finer points of non-violent protesting--and positioning the students to achieve a particular result. The dean of the school, Grace Moody, explained that students should be taught how to protest effectively. Moody also explained how Jones' "Social Justice Week" was the result of a botched "Gender Bender Day" earlier in the year.
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan's opinions on the matter were given at Al Sharpton's recent National Action Network conference in New York City.
Arne Duncan: "I think whether itÂ’s, you know, children in elementary school, middle school, or high school, or college, getting our students engaged in the civic life of our country is hugely important. So getting young people engaged--protest being a part of it--but creating clubs, participating in service, giving back--not just being recipients of service but being the givers of service...The more our young people are actively engaged, I think the more weÂ’re going to have a strong and vibrant democracy. And so, I think, having young people at the earliest ages doing things that are somehow non-traditional, IÂ’m a big supporter of."
