That may be the consensus on the right based on some juicy quotes about his time as a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School - quotes that I've even covered myself.
But John Steele Gordon of Commentary commits journalism and goes to the source - the dean of the law school while Obama taught there who also happens to be Gordon's cousin - and gets the straight scoop:
...The idea that Obama had lousy grades is demonstrably untrue. He graduated magna from Harvard Law, which means that he was at least in the top 15 or 20 percent of his class at HLS. Most of the exams are blindly graded. I don't want to argue about the relevance of grades, but the idea that they weren't very good is just not right.
To say that some professors hated him because he was unqualified is mystifying. His credentials (president of HLR and magna) are completely traditional law professor credentials. His classes were consistently popular. He spent relatively little time schmoozing with faculty or hanging out with them (and this, at least in retrospect, has made at least one conservative colleague speak ill of him), but this is different from him being unqualified.
Someone who says Obama is not smart is someone who hasn't met him. I'm completely confident you wouldn't like him if you met him and you would think him ideological and not warm and fuzzy, but I would be stunned if you didn't think he was smart.
Now I've always assumed that Obama was at least fairly intelligent - but never quite as brilliant as he's made out to be nor the genius he sees himself as. But he's been able to skate by in life based on his verbal glibness, his race, and people's willingness to imagine great qualities (including brilliance) on what is actually a blank slate. And that's made him lazy and arrogant about his intellect.
As Gordon points out a rigid ideology and limited knowledge of the world are enough to make functional idiots of even the smartest people. So at a certain point it's no longer relevant whether he is in fact a mega-brainiac or merely Biden-esquely borderline average - his polices are failures and his judgment is foolishly bad and smart or dumb that's more than enough reason to toss him out.
Most of the 'solutions' that members of the political class come up with to deal with the underclass are based on a kind of naive optimism. If only we give them the tools to better themselves, they'll take them up with alacrity. Problem is, unless those tools are in a canvas bag in the back of a locked white van, they're unlikely to show much interest.
Book Review: Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual
If you've ever wondered how you would field strip the M41A Pulse Rifle, this book is for you:
This thing is detailed - frighteningly so. Even as a die-hard fan of the Aliens series, I am overwhelmed by the amount of information in Brimmicombe-Wood's book. If you've ever wanted to cosplay as Hudson, Hicks, or Vasquez, this book would serve as an excellent reference for making custom USMC armor and props.
I mean, if you absolutely must know what kind of ammunition an M41A Pulse Rifle uses ("10 millimeter explosive tip caseless. Standard light armor piercing round, why?"), then Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual is for you. It contains expansive descriptions and blueprints of the UD4L Cheyenne dropship and the 'Conestoga'-class spaceships (The Sulaco), both featured in James Cameron's Aliens.
Thanks to Russ.
The Cosmopolitan Tongue: The Universality of English
Here's a fascinating article by linguist John McWhorter on why it's not so terrible if languages die out and why English is likely to stay the world's lingua franca for a long time.
And notice how daunting the prospect of Chinese as a world language is, with a writing system that demands mastery of 2,000 characters in order to be able to read even a tabloid newspaper. For all of its association with Pepsi and the CIA, English is very user-friendly as the world's 6,000 languages go. English verb conjugation is spare compared to, say, that of Italian-just the third-person singular s in the present, for example. There are no pesky genders to memorize (and no feminine-gendered tables that talk like Penelope Cruz). There are no sounds under whose dispensation you almost have to be born as a prerequisite for rendering them anywhere near properly, like the notorious trilly r? sound in Czech.
And how English itself is likely to mutate and split into new languages:
For example, most Americans pronounce disgusting as "diss-kussting" with a k sound. (Try it-you probably do too.) However, some people say "dizz-gusting"-it's easier to pronounce the g after a softer sound like z. Imagine a language with the word pronounced as it is spelled (and as it was in Latin): "diss-gusting." The group speaking the language splits into two groups that go their separate ways. Come back five hundred years later, and one group is pronouncing the word "diss-kussting," while the other is pronouncing it "dizz-gusting." After even more time, the word would start shortening, just as we pronounce "let us" as "let's." After a thousand years, in one place it would be something like "skussting," while in the other it might be "zgustin." After another thousand, perhaps "skusty" and "zguss." By this time, these are no longer even the same language.

DEA Wants To Install License Plate Scanners on Interstates
"Everyone driving on Interstate 15 in southwest Utah may soon have their license plate scanned by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The DEA and two sheriffs are asking permission to install stationary license plate scanners on the freeway in Beaver and Washington counties. The primary purpose would be to catch or build cases against drug traffickers, but at a Utah Legislature committee meeting Wednesday, the sheriffs and a DEA representative described how the scanners also could be used to catch kidnappers and violent criminals. That, however, wasn't the concern of skeptical legislators on the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee. They were worried about the DEA storing the data for two years and who would be able to access it."
Because drugs are such a problem that we must start down the path of a police state to fight them. I'm sure the data will only be used for drug cases and never ever abused or shared with other agencies.
Touching The Void author faces angry teenage Twitter mob
Apparently many of them blame his book for why they failed their English GCSEs. Them fail Inglish - thats unpossible!
It is a tale of sheer determination in the face of almost unbelievable adversity - a mountain climber left for dead after breaking his leg and tumbling into a crevasse.Few who have read Joe Simpson's brilliant book Touching the Void, or seen the 2003 documentary of the same name, remain unmoved by the author's bravery and incredible will to survive.
But the 1988 work appears to have struck an entirely different chord with dozens of teenagers tasked with studying it for their GCSE English literature exams.
And Joe Simpson didn't drag his body down an entire mountain just to hear bunch of semi-literate teenagers whine about his story.
But the student hit back writing: 'i am a student who learn english; but you are a stupid who fell down on the mountain.'Another student wrote: 'Your book is s*** and you should feel bad.'
...But by Wednesday night the author appeared to be getting more than a little hacked off: 'A lovely day of children writhing in their hellish hormonal middens . good night vile innocents may you all seethe in bilious acid pus ...'
And yesterday he declared: 'Ok bored of this now so I'll either stop twitter or block all school kids - shame on the good ones - but the loathsome scroats can sod off!'
In fact his book is excellent and in a rare occurrence the movie is just as good. If the unhappy students couldn't find something enjoyable in it, then they're just retarded scroats.
What It's Like To Watch Porn For A Living
I know it sounds like a dream job for some of you but just wait until it's Wednesday afternoon and you've had to watch and evaluate Midget Gang Bangs 1 through 43 and there's still another twenty to go.
I watch porn for a living. More specifically, I manage a proprietary database owned by a porn company, making schedules for cable porn. My job is to watch movies and decide whether we're going to buy them, then write titles and synopses, and put everything into a schedule with plenty of variety. There are surprisingly strict rules for all those things.
...The rules for titles are really involved - there are a lot of words you can't say on TV. We have a whole folder at work containing all the rules. You can't say cock, so I'll say something like "big weiners" or "12-inchers." You can't say pussy, so I'll say "pink." I have to really have my finger on the pulse of what the current sex slang is. Lately I've been using "handy-j" a lot, for hand-job. Basically the goal is to have the title be as explicit as possible without breaking any rules. I prefer titles that clearly explain what happens in the film - like, say, "Horny Girls Having Sex."
The Yahoo AoSHQ group. Bla bla bla.
And don't forget about the Job Bank.
And my twitter thang.

There's this thing called undergrad. He might want to look into Obama's record there (in particular, graduating without any honors).
I believe Obama's reasonably clever. There's being smart as clever, though, and being being smart as in knowing a lot. Contrary, to popular belief, you really don't have to know a whole lot to graduate from a top law school, especially with affirmative action (and especially when there's not much in your undergraduate record to indicate you know a ton).

The problem with this is that we are not exactly going to be separate groups. The way the world works you're not going to have groups isolated on an island or separated by moutains modifying their original common language like you have in the past.

If any subject involves an actual law of the universe, that subject is over his head and always has been.
Watching him try to write a legal description that actually closes would probably make you wince. He may be verbal, and he may to able to work well with opinion-based matters, but he is probably innumerate.

Remember: nobody is more racist than American liberals. Deep down they are certain that black people aren't as smart as white American liberals are (because nobody else anywhere ever in the history of the world is that smart). But they also want to see black people do well with their help, so they'll happily bend rules, facilitate cheating, and inflate grades to boost a suitably clean and articulate black student.

I'm coming around the corner at Madison and 45th about 2 years ago. I see a big crowd coming down the sidewalk and think "oh cripes who are these jerks gonna be."
In the middle of that crowd is Joe Willy Namath himself.
I stop and say "Broadway Joe!!!"
He stops. Turns to me and shakes my hand. I tell him he's always been a hero to me. He says "Thanks buddy."
You can't bad mouth Joe Namath to me. He was was tough as nails and one hell of a quarterback. If he had the benefit of modern medical science, his knees wouldn't have ever been an issue.

Obama may have gotten straight As at Columbia and Harvard. However...
In the fall of 2008 Charlie Gibson asked BHO if he still favored increasing the capital gains tax rate, even though there was statistical proof, no arguments, that raising the rate actually decreased government revenue. Obama replied that the rate should be raised because it was a question of fairness.
QED: He's an idiot.

Obama smart? In a way, he obviously is. He can be articulate at times (for instance, in front of a teleprompter).
But his actual thinking ability it hampered and cloistered by his lifetime of Leftist indoctrination. He has a limited ability to see beyond what he has been taught since he was a yout, and frankly he doesn't WANT to see any further than that.
I think it's interesting that the "dolt" Bush had actually read Obama's autobiography and could talk to him about it at one time in the past (around 2005 when he was a freshman Senator). George could and did think and read beyond his political preference, which is the sign of a confident and inquisitive man. Obama - not so much. I truly think that Obama's highest achievement WAS to graduate magna at Harvard Law. It probably took some work and sweat to do it, and is probably the only time in his life he actually had to put forth some effort to achieve something. And he reverted to form as President of the Law Review, where he did.......nothing.
Everything else has been AA for him. People handing him the golden Gong and he thinking he had hit another home run. Like that stupid Peace Prize award. If he was such a great teacher at Chicago, why did he leave, and not seek tenure either there or somewhere else? Because it would have been WORK. He would have to think and write as well as teach.

True. There's no question that this is legal and in fact many toll roads already do the same thing. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea or that drug enforcement justifies this kind of routine monitoring.
Frankly I'd feel better if it was the FBI doing it since their actions are more closely watched by Congress and civil liberties organizations.

There's a good reason that he's the only editor of Harvard Law Review never to write an opinion or analysis

My wife's cousin played for Alabama when Joe Namath was there. He didn't know Joe that well, but had a few funny stories to tell about him.
Says he was a helluva guy. He had to go to some kind of prep school off campus to get his grades up before he could get his scholarship and start playing. I guess Willy Joe wasn't a scholar, huh?

So, "smart" can also mean well-practiced and disciplined.
You know what else looks smart? Tic-Tac-Toe Chicken. If you don't see the levers moving and lights blinking, you might actually think you're losing to a chicken. In modern politics the chicken uses a teleprompter.

Sorry if I'm not buying the "journalism" that was supposedly "committed" on Obama's academic past. It's simple hearsay and nothing more. If we're going to objectively judge the man's intellect based on his academic credentials both as a student and a "professor", then let's see the measure of his performance as a student and his published papers.
Since - for some completely unfathomable and mystifying reason unknowable by modern man - we are not granted access to Mr. Transparency's brilliant body of academic work, we're forced to judge him based off of what we have observed from him in his time as an elected official. He hasn't demonstrated an ability to grasp basic things like cause and effect, responsibility, or rudimentary leadership. His complete inability to speak extemporaneously in a remotely cogent manner (SCOAMF) shows that his cognitive ability might not be all that great, but his ability to communicate on a level commensurate with his position just isn't there.
At best the man is of average intellect.

That is exactly right. He has certain interpersonal skills that he uses to seduce equally vain "intellectuals", thus persuading them of his genuine abilities.
Michael Beschloss, another phoneybaloney intellectual, was persuaded of Barack's brilliance because he wrote "two books".
Did he, and were they really any good? And is that it? Two books and make him President. No other achievements to speak of in his life. People that are really brilliant are usually really driven to be creative and do things.

And, first hit on google:
Ever since Barack Obama's election as president, there has been anticipation among scholars at the University of Chicago's Law School that one of their own could be headed to the U.S. Supreme Court bench in the next few years.
"There's definitely extra buzz on campus," said Douglas Baird, a law professor who recruited Obama to the faculty. "They will be naturally on the short list, but not because he is sentimental about the law school, but because they fit the ticket."

graduated magna from Harvard Law, which means that he was at least in
the top 15 or 20 percent of his class at HLS. Most of the exams are
blindly graded. I don't want to argue about the relevance of grades, but
the idea that they weren't very good is just not right.
Is cousin the Dean describing the current standard at HLS for latin honors or is he describing the 1991 standard in effect when Obama graduated? The grade inflation at Harvard at the time Obama was there was massive and legendary. It was substantially reformed several years after Obama left.
Have any presidents of the Harvard Law Review -- an elected position -- ever graduated without latin honors? With a latin honor less than magna?
If cousin the Dean has the 1991 standard will he post them on-line? I've looked and cannot find the 1991 standards anywhere on-line.
Not likely cousin the Dean is going to fess up now to having hired an ijit, is it?
How does cousin Dean account for the fact that Obama alone among Harvard Law Review presidents never published anything under his own name?
How many other faculty has cousin the Dean ever recruited to a tenured position at U Chicago Law who had zero academic publications?
Did cousin the Dean ever actually require Obama to supply a HLS transcript when he was hiring Obama? If so, will he release it? If not, why not?

The key disconnect, is that Good grades do NOT indicate intelligence. They indicate an ability to do two things... Memorize facts... and parrot the Profesors Opinions back to him...
Origional thought is NOT really needed for good grades... and problem solving??? only needed if you are a math, medicine, or engineering major... which Obama was not.

Law geek here.
Under traditional 4th amendment jurisprudence, you have no expectation of privacy in what you choose to expose to public view. I don't think this means we should have to put up with 24/7 surveillance every time we leave the house.

Isn't there a "probable cause" issue for gathering evidence? I think, technically, that's what has to happen with radar. The officer has to "observe" you speeding before pointing the radar at you. Can't "search and seize" evidence without that.

To a point, I suppose. It's not a simple concept.
There is something seemingly more evil about someone with the capacity to plot, plan, and then methodically carry out an act such as serial killers do. That is, as compared to someone with an I.Q. of 80. The act of murder is, in itself, evil, and I know there shouldn't be degree of evil, but I think most would agree that some crimes defy imagination.

Everyone driving on Interstate 15 in southwest Utah may soon have their license plate scanned by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
----
A plate is scanned almost everywhere you go, but it's not logged yet that I know of. Going accross the state line the plates get scanned, and about 20 miles in there are always stories of seemly fellows being stopped by the highway patrol. I assume thats about how long it takes to be flagged, and pulled over after entering the state.
On that same note, I pity the people driving with expired plates, because its getting to the point that if a cop car is in sight, you're plate is being ran automatically.

It's clear that the JEF isn't particularly smart: he went to Occidental, where, as per a pervious Ace commenter, those who can't hack college go, where, as per Iowahawk, a deep and complex bullshit reigns supreme. Proof: no transcripts, and it's been three years. How tough is getting a 3.8 in Marxist Bullshit?
JEF was admitted to Harvard Law on the request of a black radical. It can't have been for any other reason; which other Occidental grad made it to Harvard Law?
The intelligence in the current administration is in the advisors, specifically, the ones provided by the power brokers that wanted their man in the WH. The JEF was the one that simply happened to get an incredible streak of luck.
If Romney pushes the correct buttons, specifically, Romney manages to divert debate questions to discussions on the economy and the rest of the JEF's record, the speechwriters and coaches won;t be able to prevent the inevitable meltdown.
The JEF has lost only once, to a Chicago local where there could be no "fix".
If Romney refuses to play exactly by the (assumed-to-be-fixed) debate rules, then the JEF will have to think on his feet. He is unable. It is beyond him. Without a wire, the failure will be catastrophic, and on national television.

Obviously it's a classic bell shaped curve. But assuming that there is some minimum intelligence requirement for serial killers is irrational. Maybe serial killing is on par with some hard-wired behavior like being able to curl your tongue under or juggling. And...we don't know all murders that are the result of serial killing because it is entirely possible that some serial killers have patterns that we simply do not see.
There might be a killer who has been murdering for 30 years and has hundreds of victims under his belt, and can't pump his own gas or cook his own food because he is stupid in all other respects!

It's a good measure of "cognitive ability." There's no general consensus as to what "intelligence" is, but certainly at higher levels it is a lot easier to correctly abstract general principles from observed data. The lower down you go, the more concrete and rule bound a person tends to be, which can be disadvantageous for independent thought.

I know/knew a man who is presently on death row. Tommy has an I.Q. of about 80 and hung out with the crappy crowd of druggies and drug dealers that my mother associated with when I was a teenager. They all treated him like an imbecile and he continued to hang out with them. Then, a couple of kids didn't pay their drug bill and were killed. Afterward, another woman, having nothing whatsoever to do with the the murder of the two kids, was also killed.
There were 5 people involved in the murders and only one, Tommy, got the death penalty. All the others served a few years and were released. Tommy was terrified of the others and would have done anything they told him to do yet each of them turned states evidence and blamed the murders on him.
What he did was evil, pure and simple, but what they did was more evil in my opinion.
Let's put it this way. Tommy was such an imbecile that after the murders, once he became a wanted man, he came to my house to ask my mother for help and she persuaded him that if he would go to the police, and tell them that she had convinced him to tun himself in, she would collect the reward money and get a lawyer for him.
He did, and she didn't.
Someday I'll tell you the whole shitty saga.
BTW, Tommy is still on death row and attorneys have been fighting his sentence for 30 years due to his mental capacity.

Going back to the Monty with the goatee -- if Monty always gives you the option only when he knows you have the car, then you should never switch. If he always displays a goat and gives the option, you should always switch. If he sometimes displays a goat whether or not you've chosen the car, and sometimes attacks you with a bat'leth during the show, you should probably avoid being a contestant.

IQ tests show your ability to learn and integrate new information, and then use it on the fly. In the case of the SCOAMF/T, it's not that useful a measure, in my opinion. The willingness to learn is not measured, and no account is taken for the ideological marriage to certain ideas. The smartest man in the world, if he is ideologically and intelectually uninterested or inflexible, is no smarter than his fellow travelers. If you have a 400 hp brain, but make your mind a car that limits itself to 65mph and can only turn left or right, all that excess brainpower dies on the vine. You have blinded yourself to outcomes oustside of your expectations, based on a belief sysstem that has failed consistently for over a century. If one is able to completely disregard the 20th century, the 100 million dead as a result of collectivist policies, and the suffering of the survivors that was a result, yet still come back to the same old and tired ideologies, I think that demonstrates a refusal to learn, which negates any natural intelligence advantages a man or woman might have in their favor.

Speaking of young killers, two boys were arrested in Tacoma and will be charged as adults for murder, they are 16 and 14. They killed another kid--in their own house--after that kid came by I guess to sell them marijuana. Their mother came home while they were cleaning up the mess and they told her that the mess was chili. She went upstairs, found the body in the tub, went to the police station to report it (one does wonder why she didn't just call 911) and when she returned home the boys had put it in the recyling bin and wheeled it behind the house (totally would've been busted in the end anyway, everyone knows that bodies go in the compost bin, not the recycling bin). The police asked the boys where the body was and they told the police where to find it.
Sadly, I assume that given the poor track record of our court system here they'll be back out on the streets making chili again in no time.

My mom told me a story about how my grandfather was out in the Minnesota woods hunting, and was walking back to his vehicle at the end of the day when he felt like his shirt was wet. He looked down and saw quite a bit of blood coming from his chest. He apparently had been hit with a stray .22 bullet, and not only didn't hear it but didn't feel it when it hit. It lodged 2cm from his heart.
A kid I went to high school with lost his father during hunting season, when a stray bullet hit him in the head...while he was in his car driving on the highway at 60mph.

behind one of three doors. The contestant picks door number 1. Monty
then reveals a goat behind door number 2. He then gives the contestant a
chance to change his mind and pick door number 3. What is the chance
that the car is behind door number 3?
---
The seductive answer would be 1 in 2, because there are two doors left, right?
Not so fast... you have to be clear on the nature of the game.
As mentioned earlier, I also figured the real chance on the TV show was related to whether or not they felt like giving away a car, or a lifetime supply of slightly brown bananas, and that the prize draw was essentially manipulated.
But let's talk about a fair version of the game where there *is* a car, and it stays behind the door it was behind when you picked door 1. Given otherwise even odds, the chance of the car being behind door 1 is 1 in 3, and nothing will change those odds. If you picked door 1 a hundred times, about 33 times you'd get a shiny new Yugo, regardless of any goats or pink thong underwear or anything else that may be shown to you behind another door.
Now, it would make for bad TV to open the door *with* the car to show you that you basically just lost, so in this scenario we can assume the host selects one of the not-car doors you didn't pick to reveal. In this case it was door 2, but lets assume that if the car was behind door 2, he would show you door 3 instead. The question that helps us drive away that wonderful piece of socialist manufacturing mediocrity is now how likely are you to find a car behind that door you didn't pick and haven't seen.
There are two approaches to that question that point to the same answer- one is simply in a situation where you know the probability of one of two choices, you can interpret the remaining choice to be the remaining probability. The other is that you can interpret door 3 as the sum of the probability of either door 2 or door 3 being the car door, with door 2 ruled out now thanks to the giant trail of goat crap leading away from our example- the goat wandering off in the time it takes to explain this.
In either case, that probability is 2 in 3.

Not him.
People are smart would have known by spring of 2009 that that course of action was a political boomerang assuring a one-term presidency (I did, and I'm no genius.)
Not him.
Obama isn't that smart (by Presidential standards), and on top of that he is ignorant and incurious. His bitter clinging to Marxism is merely an inevitable symptom of those two characteristics - he is Nietzsche's archetypal Tarantula.

I'm reading reviews of Prometheus by regular viewers and they are cheesed off. Its lame, irrational, contrived, derivitive, and poorly scripted. Its like a knockoff of Alien by someone who sort of remembered the movie, with really great visuals, according to these reviews.
Just a heads up.

The average communications major vs. the average engineering major is a different story.
---------------
Maybe so -- which is why the over-generalization was challenged. But Carter wasn't even an average engineering major -- he was a superior engineering major.
Why Communications majors were ever injected to this is something kdkabear has to reply to. He said:
"Jimmy Carter was a nuclear engineer*, certainly* requires a much higher IQ* than a communications "
* not a nuclear engineer
* "certainly" not
* the notion that "IQ" measures intelligence or aptitude equally in all fields has been debunked a long time ago.

Let's not get cocky. We are still in the shadow of an existential danger. That said, we have something today that makes things infinitely better than they were in the late 70's.....we've seen things break for the worse, but we've also seen them break for the good. If Ronaldus Maximus had never been, we might be trapped in a hopeless dystopian nightmare where the only question was how fast we were sliding into totalitarianism -- the direction seemed fixed since FDR. We now know that we can summon the will and the spirit and reverse that downward slide....if only for a time.

I'm not. I want toelect Mittens and then impeach him and throw him out right after the inauguration. America is itching to impeach and toss a President, to redefine the strict limits of the office that the Indonesian Mutt Muncher has absolutely made minced meat of.
But the single most important action that must be taken after Barky is finally driven from the Oval Office, is that he and his junta are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and receive commensurate punishments. Without that, nothing will be fixed.

For a while there in the 1980s-early 1990s, grade inflation made it a lot easier to cop a magna cum laude at Harvard Law School. I think in Obama's time it meant something like top 25% of the class. After Obama's time they changed it so it wasn't pegged to a specific GPA number; instead, magna would require a GPA in the top 10% of the class, whatever that was. (These days, hell, I don't even think they give real grades with letters, pluses and minuses at HLS anymore. Kagan did away with letter grades as Dean.)
Nonetheless, top 25% at HLS is impressive on its face.
But that prompts an interesting question. Since his law school grades were quite high, why haven't we seen Obama's HLS transcripts?
After all, that would seem to be a great way to instantly put a lot of suspicions about him to rest without having to show us his college transcripts (which I suspect were garbage). His supporters could say, "who cares if O partied and slacked his ass off in college; look at his law school performance, he obviously is sharp and got his sh*t together. Move on."
I have a strong hunch the reason we haven't seen Obama's law school transcripts is because they would tell us what courses he chose to take.
I suspect that Obama took a WHOLE LOT of squishy, blatantly left-wing race/gender/critical legal studies/etc. classes in law school. That they are all over his transcript. Which would (a) tend to strongly confirm the view of him as a budding hard-left identity politics radical, and (b) would tarnish his magna honors, because a lot of those fluffy ideological classes are small enrollment, everyone's tight with the prof, and there is major grade inflation in them compared to the "core" subjects like Federal Courts or Corporate Tax.
So the law school transcripts are kept under wraps.
BTW while Harvard Law does have blind grading of exams, upper level seminars (including the lefty ones that I speculate Obama loaded up on) have you write a research paper, and those are not blind graded.

For an indicator of why this election is so important, consider this: America has only ever held a gubernatorial recall election twice in its history--in 1921 and 2003.

Heading north, as soon as I get the car packed. I won't be able to join the fun, but I do have some pudding for tonight.
I might get snowed on tonight or tomorrow night: http://tinyurl.com/7cdcuv5

If you want to broadcast someone's evilness then you must say it loudly and often.
Who will be affected by this shutdown?
Not Congress (unless people write them but that doesn't require a shutdown nor does a shutdown facilitate it.)
Not Brett Kimberlin et al. He's loving the idea.
NO ONE WILL CARE. Except for those that already DO care.
This is doing something for the sake of doing something.
An action that if liberals did it, we'd be mocking them.
Ace is WRONG about this having much effect and may actually have a negative effect. It certainly will cause many people to browse elsewhere and THE MESSAGE WILL THEN FAIL TO BE HEARD.

I agree. Ace might as well just hold his breath until he passes out, it would have the same effect.
None.

l'il barry never graduated from anything. His whole life was and is a cereal box diploma from the mailbox. The difference is there were multiple payments and he may have actually walked across a stage in a gown. BUT
There's no proof of anything. Perfessor says he graduated magna? PROVE IT!
This is just crap filling oozing out of a crap sandwich.
And another thing: mornin' 'rons and 'ronettes.

This being the case dear professor is really making a false appeal to authority in that those honors had been trivialized when / if Obama and anyone else at the time received them.
Sorry one professor making such a claim hardly amounts to accurate sourcing, how about verifying the data instead of going by the word of mouth of yet another likely liberal educator.

There is no need to search for hidden proof of what is so manifestly obvious.

"Under a system implemented three years ago that first took effect with this year's class, Harvard Law said it will limit magna cum laude degrees to the top 10% of the class. The next 30% will receive cum laude degrees.
The policy for summa cum laude, the highest honor, is unchanged. One summa degree was awarded this year, Harvard Law School said.
Under the old system, 76% of Harvard Law grads earned honors, the school said."
