— Gabriel Malor Hi there. Yes, you. Hi. Oh, you're looking to kill time on the internet this fine evening? I can help you with that. Come right in. I've tucked a bunch of videos from my favorite musical YouTubers under the fold. Maybe you'll find one you like. If not, you could always tell me about it in the comments.
The absolute gold standard in musician YouTubers is Alex Goot. Here he is, along with Tiffany Alvord and Luke Conard, covering Fun.'s recent hit "We Are Young."
Goot's done quite a few music videos over the past few years, including some good originals. I particularly like his cover of Adele's "Someone Like You" (also with Conard and Chad Sugg) and his new cover of Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen's "Good Time."
If pop isn't to your taste, how about this killer rendition of "House of the Rising Son" by Jono with Tyler Ward:
Ward has managed to turn his epic YouTube addiction into a steady career helping young artists online. His collaboration with the brothers of Boyce Avenue will give you chills. Or, if country is more your speed, his version of "Dirt Road Anthem" is better than the original.
Mashups and medleys are big on YouTube. Here's Victoria Justice and Max Schneider's medley of Bruno Mars songs, directed by another career YouTuber, Kurt Schneider:
Woman's got moves. Victoria and Max just did another medley of Maroon 5 songs. The video that first got me watching all these people was an Adele medley by Goot, Justin Robinette and Michael Henry. Also worth a shot: this Sam Tsui mashup of "Love The Way You Lie", "Dynamite", and "Teenage Dream."
Long-distance collaborations are also pretty common. Like, for example, this version of "For Good" from Wicked by Sam Tsui and a eunuch in a toupee.
Another long-distance collaboration that came together was Alex G's acoustic cover of Nicki Minaj's "Starships."
Sometimes you can practically see the learning curve for these types of independent videos. Here's an early effort from Justin Robinette and Michael Henry, a heart-rending cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."
A similar video before Goot's videos got so professional-looking is his version of Katy Perry's "California Gurls."
Last one (in order not to make page loading times completely unendurable), try this cover of "Pay Phone" from the delightful Megan Nicole and Dave Days:
Finally, here are worthy originals from some of these people:
Alex Goot - "Breathless"
Chester See - "God Damn You're Beautiful"
Luke Conard and Landon Austin - "Superhero"
Folks dubious about supporting big label music might keep an eye on these musical YouTubers. I hope you found some music you liked and otherwise killed some time. Sleep tight!

I've dated a few trailer park chicks, the only thing skeerier than them are their weird ass relatives who are crammed into the trailer with them. Seeing 8 people living in one of those little things makes you realize why they do so much meth.

Downloading patch for FFXIV at the moment, talking with some friends. We ended up discussing political figures, and I said to my friends "Hey, I forgot his name at the moment... the one with a face like a rat. He's from California, I think I burned his name out of my head."
No one knew who it was offhand, so I Bing searched "US representative with a face like a rat." No dice.
Binged "ugly US representatives", and.... Henry Waxman's website was the second hit.

Maybe he can tell the education hacks to put some money into the classrooms instead of their office furniture.
Then try telling the teachers union hacks to protect their members from the gangbangers instead of chartering buses to the protest or political rally du jour
Tell the kids that actually knowing something other than NBA stats and standings isn't "acting white"

Truthfully, any shit that happens is going to be confined to the blue urban areas. Rural life will be undisturbed, and any uproar will be short lived. There isn't enough competent organization or leadership to cause widespread trouble.

Big ups for you for not pulling out the ridiculous "you don't have to aim" and "the sound of the action will send them running" claims. For the moe-rons not in the know, shotguns are not preferred for their spread. Rather, they are effective because they can deliver a devastating payload on the target *you are aiming at* at a level that pistols and rifles cannot, all things equal.

How long until other cities and even states join Boston and Chicago? And with a leftwing SC, I would not presume that the courts will put a stop to it.
OTOH, why aren't southern mayors discussing, for example, whether or not anti-2nd amendment businesses are welcome in their towns? Who wants people who enable crime local?

Good point about old bolts.
A lot of people like SA's but most people don't have the experience or training to use one properly.
Bolts are usually cheaper as well, especially old milsurp stuff.
Posted by: catmman at July 25, 2012 11:12 PM (C8XlI)
and yet it works in reverse...by the time you have a 91/30 or a Finn M39 or a 6.5 Swede (or best of all a K98...someday, I will own one) you're already a gunny. Nobody starts with milsurp stuff. If I were in the market for my "one" rifle, I'd probably pick up the Ruger Gunsite Scout and put a long eye-relief 4x on it. Col. Jeff knew what he was talking about. Luckily we don't have to own just one.

"I don't eat at Chick-fil-A and I encourage others not to eat at Chick-fil-A.* What I don't do is deny Chick-fil-A's right to do business with other folks. If these mayors had their way, they'd go so far as to deny Chick-fil-A's right to exist. That's oppression. That's wrong, and we should say so."

Sure, but that's independent of the rifle itself. If you could only have one, and have it cover as many potenial uses as possible, that's the way I would go. Like I said, all us gunnys are glad we don't get just one. FWIW, my 2nd place goes to the plain old Ruger 10/22. It will do most of the things the Scout does at a fraction of the cost.

Amen. I'm just tired of seeing outright falsehoods presented as advice. At 30', an open cylinder will only pattern at about 4" out of a 20" barrel...and if the bad guy hears you rack the action, that's a mistake. Don't point a gun at somebody unless you truly intend to pull the trigger if necessary. The last sound they should hear is the safety clicking off. If you intend to scare somebody with a gun, don't point it at them, and please keep your finger off the trigger.

Collins at a sporting clays facility and he let me go for my first sporting clay round ever with his slick, sexy Beretta double barrel 12 gauge. That thing was so well balanced and easy to shoot I went 23 for 25.

Because I live in commie Cal I have a mini 14. It is not subject to the "assault rifle" regulations. They are not as in-accurate as people say, especially the new ones and you can shoot them until the barrel melts with no problems.
I have a P94 Ruger 9 MM with 15 rd pre ban mags.
I have a Remington 700 in .30-06 with a leupold scope.
I also own an 870 pump.
These are my plain vanilla guns. All very reliable and durable with readily available ammo.
I own the mini in 5.56 and the Ruger in 9 MM because they are standard military rounds. When the military changes their ammo I will buy reliable guns chambered in the same thing. I hope that it never comes to it but if the SHTF I want to be able to harvest ammo of of bodies.
I have lots of other guns that are more recreational

That's a good point.
I never really thought of shotguns as anyhting different, because I shot them when I was just a kid.
But....my sister just got a Mossberg 20 guage for home defense and asked me to show her how to shoot it.
She was really intimidated, and I don't know why. I even showed her that I could fire it one-handed, and the recoil was managable, but it didn't really work too well.
She'll figure it out eventually, but I expected it to be trivial, and it wasn't!

Evening y'all.
Was away from computer all day.....doing shit out in the 103 degree heat.
The hubby and I were finishing up our last erand together....and it was about dinner time.
So, I said:
"Honey, I'm melted. It's too hot to cook....and I have been craving some Chick-Fil-A chicken the last few days."
Him:
"That sounds good. Works for me."
So we pull into the Chick-Fil-A....and there is a line of cars for the drive-thru, all the way around the building and out into the street.
Every parking space is filled.
The overflow is filling up the parking lot of neighboring businesses.
Hubby says:
"Woah. What the fuck is going on...are they giving it away today?"
Me:
"I guess it's because of all the stuff in news about them."
Him:
"What stuff?"
So I filled him in....my hubby, bless him, has a low tolerance for the general bullshit in the news these days, so he doesn't really keep up....for blood pressure reasons.
After hearing about the current bru-ha-ha.....He says:
"Well shit. I suddenly have an intense craving for some Chick-Fil-A, too, honey. .....I was going to say, fuck this, lets go somewhere else. ....But hell no. I don't mind sitting here and waiting in line."
It was delicious. ....And the waffle fries were hot and crispy....as were my chicken strips.
So I finally check in here....for the first time today....and there's a thread about Chick-Fil-A.
Oh well, at least Gabe said it was "wrong" to persecute someone for their beliefs.
Something tells me that Chick-Fil-A is going to do just fine, though.
They may have to go to being open 24/7 though.

Oh, great, now I am all fired up. This fuckin' office we're in, they use paper towels the likes of which I have not seen since I last used a gas station restroom (decades) and the toilet paper? don't' even get me started. The problem is, ever time I wash my hands, I automatically roll off 3 paper towels, because they are such utter crap. And the toilet paper, you need about 9 yards of it to do the same job 6 inches of the good, cushy kind could accomplish. Green = stoopid. I'm about to start talkin' like a pirate and the cats don't really get that. sigh

One of the items I picked up when they let us back in after the fire was my strongbox where I kept all my personal info and my passport.

Mero came to visit!!!! I had to work tho so he got to meet the horses, one of my clients (also one of my best friends) and Grim! It was very cool that Merovign and Grimmy got along and like a LOT of the same thing so they had plenty to talk about, and the cats LOVED him, especially my little hairless one. She crawled onto his shoulder and just camped out.
Currently the Famous Ellie is in trouble. Day after Mero left town she had a panic attack working with the new trainer and bolted through a fence and caused a big wreak. This also caused the trainer to be evicted for tearing the place down. *SIGH* her first words to me were "Now i know why the former owners wanted to put her down."
But it was kinda awesome to have a moron hang with grim while i worked horses. Also i saw last night he said some rather kind things about my stallion and the nice appearance of my hooved quadropeds. (im still blushing)

My kitty used to hang back and lurk until I opened the door so she could rush at the door and escape to the outside. I lived in an apartment house with a screened-in porch so she usually didn't get outside, but if one of the apartments on my level had an open door she'd run inside their apartment. Silly cat. I tried to keep her in the apartment because I'd had her front claws taken.

She would die if left out longer than a couple hours. well longer than 10 minutes where i am. Dogs, cars, owls, feral cats and UV rays as well as disease and god knows what else. Just the thought is freakey. her little fuzzly brother would likely be in as much trouble but probably wouldnt have the sense to hide. My feral cats are wise thought and after a certain hour they hole up in the hay barn, and they DONT COME OUT. My barncat is big and badass and could give a rip. She just does whatever.

Go to the market and get yourself a box of 20 Mule Team Borax. Get a broom. Fling it all over the damn house, then scrub it in with the broom, carpets, cracks, furniture, everywhere. It will smite your fleas in short order. Non-chemically, it's got little sharpness to it and it abrades their exo-skeletons and they can't live. I've done it, several times, and it works. {{{{{}}}}}

Though i keep laughing at how grossed out people are when i stick the hose in That horse's eyesocket, im really proud of how easy he is to handle despite being half blind. Seriously, its so much grosser if its not clean, and even the horse acts like it feels really nice when i do it.

You have to wait a couple of hours (or a day, I forget), then vacuum it all up really well. But, I've done it with asthma-kitteh in the house and she was fine with it. The flea-chemicals would have killed her. You might want to try it. Lock the little darlin's in the bathroom for a bit, they really shouldn't breathe it. Maverick 88 shotgun (budget Mossberg) and a Marlin model 795. Yep, a .22 rifle. No gun collection is complete without a good old semi-auto .22 rifle (fer skwerls and such).
Once you have those two, you can take your leftover cash and either invest in a Saiga .223 and a Tapco catalog or you can start buying an AR-15 one piece at a time to make your Evil Black Rifle.
Also...Mosin Nagant. Bolt action, large caliber, cheap ammo.

The whole argument falls apart when one realizes the 'common wealth' only has value in proportion to individuals who bring about economic activity and innovation.
And how many cases are they of a government at any level building a stretch of road past undeveloped land in the belief that entrepreneurs would take up nesting there when seasonal migration brought them around again. Maybe it's just me but I cannot think of a single instance of this happening. Ever.
Every case I've ever seen of such investment was for the purpose of serving things that already existed or in response to private capital's proposed plans for the location. And often as not that private capital has to pick up much of the cost of that construction, too.
And by the way, George. Where did the knowledge of how to create infrastructure items like roads, electrical and water distribution networks, etc., come from? Government? Please. Government can at best sponsor prizes (using other people's money) for those bringing forth new technologies that are specifically desired but ultimately the advances come fastest form private enterprises competing to offer the best product and win the business.

Watch out. They'll promise whole fantastic Shenmu wardrobe. You'll get deeply invested, both financially and emotionally, but they'll pull the plug on further releases and leave you nearly naked.
