Why Right Wing Blogs Like AoSHQ Never Talk About Jihad or Sharia
Because it's true - we just *never* talk about jihad or sharia anymore.
Well according to this article at IOTW it's only because Ace and the cobs have shunned Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs and sold out to the MSM.
What's the message received? If you want to move up in the caste system you better clean up your act, and that, you'll see, includes any uncomfortable remarks about Islam.
[long email quote snipped]While reading this I immediately had 2 bloggers in mind that would fit this description. The first was Ace of Spades. Ace was a Perryite who famously published a public attack towards Pamela Geller. He's also shown that he's willing to modify his act, and the reader's behavior.
Later the finger is pointed at Weasel Zippers as the shunful blog in question but still many ewoks and morons were dissed in the process.
Now I'm not saying that certain people's garbage should be routinely molested starting this very evening because of these slurs - that would be 'wrong' - but lets just say that both garbage and natives of Endor do have mutual needs...
Dallas and the Fall of Communism
Because who wouldn't want to be economically oppressed Dallas-style:
Dallas was the last Western show allowed during the nightmarish 1980s because President Nicolae Ceausescu thought it showcased all that was wrong with capitalism. In fact, the show provided a luxuriant alternative to a communism that was forcing people to wait more than a decade to buy the most rattletrap communist-produced cars. After the dictator and his wife were shot on Christmas Eve 1989, the pilot episode of Dallas - with a previously censored sex scene spliced back in - was one of the first foreign shows broadcast on liberated Romanian TV.
Thanks to Trulia you can see what your commute times would be like from a new home in most major cities. I remember seeing similar maps drawn as isochron lines for LA and noticing how the distance you could travel in 30 minutes steadily shrank all during the 30s, 40s, and 50s and then suddenly opened up again when freeways were built.
6 Brilliant Ways Hostages Outwitted Their Captors
In 1958, a group of Americans staying at the Hilton Havana in Cuba were playing a golf tournament when they suddenly found themselves surrounded by rebel soldiers pointing guns at them. As you probably know, Cuba was in the middle of a bloody anti-imperialist revolution, but apparently the golfers never got the memo. What the rebels didn't know was that one of those golfers was 54-year-old actor Johnny Weissmuller, best known for dressing in nothing but loincloths and swinging on vines. In the '30s and '40s, Weissmuller starred as Tarzan in 12 films and is to this day the best known actor to have played the role. When the hostile soldiers approached him, Weissmuller confidently said, "Me Tarzan" ... to which the rebels responded, "Huh?" Turns out that "Tarzan" is pronounced completely differently in Spanish (it's more like "Tar-zaan" ).
Since they clearly weren't getting the message, and for some reason still convinced that his celebrity status could save him from captivity or death, Weissmuller stood up to his full height, beat his chest with his fists and let out the trademarked Tarzan yell that he single-handedly popularized. In the middle of a golf course, with Cuban rebels pointing guns at him....Star struck, the rebels put down their guns and proceeded to freak the hell out, yelling "Tarzan! Tarzan!" and "Welcome to Cuba!" Apparently their anti-capitalist sentiment stopped at Hollywood movies. They not only released Weissmuller and his fellow golfers completely unharmed, but actually escorted them back to their hotel.
Karachi: Burning American Flags After Evening Prayers Each Week Nets Tidy Profit For Flagmaker
I had always wondered about this but yes there are local flagmakers who do well by providing the US flags to be burned at the weekly spontaneous protests:
After the weekly afternoon prayers on Friday, different hardline religious groups, many with political affiliations and some with militant ties, organize protest rallies with clockwork precision that range from a few hundred to throngs of thousands. But many rallies end in the same way: the burning of an American flag."We work hard for our product, and we get paid for our product," says Rasheed, clad in a camouflage baseball cap and seated behind a desk that takes up most of the space in his eight-by-six-foot office in Gulashan-e-Iqbal, one of the city's oldest working class neighborhood.
"So what if it burns? The purpose of the flag is to last for an hour. It's unfortunate, but if the demand is for an hour, then the supplier must meet such demand too," he says.
Isn't This Like 10 Years Too Late?
Well it is the collector edition so maybe it took a while to add the director's commentary.
Being that I'm one of the few movie writers around who follows the adult film industry as closely as I do the regular film industry (film is film, dammit!), the adult industry has been kind enough to return the favor. Which is how it came to be that I got this screener of "Hairy Twatter" in the mail. (Starring everyone's favorite newcomer, Jessie Andrews). From the enclosed fact sheet:
Greetings from Dreamzone,
We've all been there. You're at the witches' and wizards' academy and become disappointed with the pubic hair trends being observed by the ladies on campus. So, you do what you must and resort to magic to rectify the situation. This is precisely the scenario depicted in Hairy Twatter: A Dreamzone Parody, releasing in August from DreamZone Entertainment. The title is available for pre-order now.
Clever, AND correct use of apostrophes. You have no idea how rare that is in the adult video industry, where some of the most popular stars can't even settle on a consistent spelling of their own name.
Yahoo group. That is all.
And my Twitter spew.
Tonight's post brought to you by more douchebag alcohol:

I believe if you are already logged into Hotmail or Live, it updates, but you can temporary reset it back. Check for a thread over at the tech blogs.
However, the existing interface for Hotmail and Live will be going away. This is ultimately a forced update. The old address will just redirect to Outlook.com.

Anne Hathaway
Rumor all the way back to 2008. Sorry, debunked:
actress reveals her love of the sex act in an upcoming article in Esquire magazine.
Turns out the article and the quotes are bunk. Gossip site Defamer contacted the editorial staff at Esquire, where spokesperson Rhett Usry said, "Absolutely not true. There is no interview with Anne Hathaway at all in the upcoming issue of Esquire."
After more digging, the rumor was traced back to celebrity blog Celeb.Dump that credit their source as "Miss M. from Esquire".

Update on Le Affair de Gellar:
IÂ’m also receiving messages from other sources that seem eager to share with me that this is not paranoia and is indeed a coordinated effort to stunt Atlas Shrugs. An editor of a brand new highly trafficked site informed a confidant of mine that Atlas Shrugs will not be linked. This made my eye go all twitchy.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer as primary references? Great job IOTW.
Pam thinks she's hot, she's not, she Vlogged in her bikini for hits, that's called "blog whoring." Not a perjorative, just a truth, It's called "Blog Whoring," Mesa used to do it all the time, it was actually a kinda funny thing. She also accused Ace of misogyny, which I think is what most would call, "bullshit."
Robert Spencer writing about Islam, when he was breaking down the individual portions of the koran were interesting, and ODDLY! He lost the majority of what little respect he had with a lot more shit than just blogging about Jihad, like Obama's a closet Muslim, a Manchurian, the whole birther shit, that Pam still insists her unnamed forensic document analyst source who "analyzed" the birth certificate, and that BC is a fraud. Could be, but I don't think Ace would bet all his balls on the veritas of a commenter.
Spencer and Geller are FUCKING WACK JOBS! Another thing that Spencer and Geller have in common? Charles Johnson back in the day was a big fan of theirs, and they of him.
Looks like the eggs hatched and fled the nest, but they are all that in common. Crazy, selfish conspiracies where everyone who doesn't agree with them 100% is an infidel. . . . kinda like the very people they oppose.

One of the first posts I ever read here was about Esquire saying that, not only did Anne Hathaway not tell them in an interview she loved anal, but that they didn't even interview Anne Hathaway in the first place.
This is the comment that sold me on this place. I think it was a takeoff of a form comment that some KosKid was using at the time.
I think I'm the only guy here who hoped it wasn't true. My 7-year-old
adorable daughter just LOVES Anne Hathaway and I didn't want to have to
break this to her when the interview came out.
I don't think I've ever seen such a look of misery and dejection on the face of my daughter as I just did a moment ago.
I sat down with her on the sofa and (as calmly as I could) tried to explain to her that Anne Hathaway might not actually be an aficionado of anal sex. I tried to keep my voice steady, but it became increasingly difficult - the rage and feelings of helplessness were just too much. I think my daughter could tell something was wrong. I found myself at such a loss for words - nothing made any sense; nothing makes sense anymore. I finally had to admit, "Honey, I just don't know - I don't know what's going on in this country anymore..."
When I finished her lower lip started to tremble and her eyes began to fill with tears, "Daddy" she said, "why doesn't Anne like getting popped in the squeakhole?" Well, that was it for me: I finally fell apart. She just fell into my arms and we both began sobbing for several minutes.

We have a standard onion grilling recipe. Take a sheet of aluminum foil twice as long as the width of the roll. Fold it over so that it's doubled. Form it into a rough bowl around your fist. Add cut onions -- doesn't matter what shape, so long as you leave off the core and skin.
Then add one splash of alcohol, one dab of fat, and seasoning. Things that work well -- white wine, butter, herbs; tequila, olive oil, chili powder; beer, butter, mustard/garlic/herbs...
Then close up the package with a twist. You want it to vent steam, but not easily. It'll look like a giant silver garlic bulb. Throw it onto the non-direct flame portion of the grill early, and just let it do its thing. Helps to serve it into a bowl, as some onions will inevitably burn onto the foil.

Well I spent a grand total of 15 seconds doing the search. And if you look carefully you'll see that it's set to only show 'sharia' posts from the last 12 months. So 2 pages is a fair amount for a blog not dedicated to the topic.
But hey - maybe the non-dhimmitude quota for blogs got raised and I missed the announcement.

The pop tart debate?
Frosted or unfrosted, the greater problem are the gaffes from the Great Overseas Adventure of Mitt Romney. When rabid Obama media poodles are shouting "Gaffe! Gaffe! Palestinians!", this is time to put aside the pop-tart debate, and unpack the ridicule trunk.
There will be plenty of time for pop-tarts when Romney is President. I think Mormons invented pop-tarts.

There is this lovely thing that you can do. It's called researching the archives here. But, you see, that requires effort on your part vs. just hurling out accusations. I can see why you would be loathe to do so.
Tell you what, you go through and read the last, oh, eight years or so of posts and then you get back to me as to whether or not you think your position is still true.
Oh hey I'll just glom onto Merovign's response "Besides, somebody sucks ass at searching, I got 12,100 results for jihad here, and 6,840 for sharia."
That good enough for you?
I have stated that I don't think it's deliberate.
Of course not. You just want to imply it.

Ahhhh the longbow. Ace posted this really long and really heartfelt and really serious thread about the use of racial stuff in comments and the like. It was Very Serious Indeed and, iirc, was after some pretty nasty stuff had been left in the comments. For the life of me, I cannot remember how it got started, but the thread devolved into this huge fight about longbows v. crossbows and then the Civil War got dragged into it. Meanwhile, ace starts updating the thread more or less begging us to stop it with the longbow shit since this is Very Serious Indeed. You've seen how well the Horde responds to directions. The obvious happened and ace lost his shit at us.
People got banned, there were recriminations and, looking back on it, it's completely and totally hilarious. Even more so since ace really did have a point about how serious the stuff he was saying was. That makes it funnier.
To sum up: ace posted something serious, we started talking about longbows, ace got pissed and the Horde never lets anything go.

AltonJackson, no worries. I'm a pro at using the olive oil while grilling.
Let me tell you about a side I once greated. I hollowed a green pepper, put a roma tomato in the middle, packed the rest of the pepper with sliced mushrooms. Everything nciely seasoned, oiled, and grilled whole.
Holy God, was it good. It solved that problem of losing the skin while grilling tomatoes too.
Sadly, I gotta go. I want to keep talking about food, but someone asked me to come over for some TALKY TALK TALKING ADVICE BLah. I'd rather be here, but I'm a good friend.

Helpful hint -- they take LONGER than the meats. You want them to be on long and slow, off the flame. You can put them on while the grill preheats, though.

The problem blogger being Breitbart would go a long way towards explaining why the name of the blogger in question was redacted.
The same for Horowitz. Geller has no problem attacking her friends if it will yield an extra hit or two on her blog, and with the redacted name she gets any number of others speculating and doing the work for her.
It's how she operates.

All right, all right. I've read this blog for years now and I'm finally dipping my toe in the water. What can I say, I'm committment-phobic.
On the one hand I can see where Gellar and Spencer are coming from. It's almost 11 years after 9/11. I think if anything, there's war fatigue. My brother did two tours in Iraq and he's of the opinion to just let them all rot - if anything I would imagine that is a highly prevalent sentiment around the country. They want a seventh-century society? Screw 'em, let 'em have it. Just keep them out of here.
So in that regard, yeah, sure, maybe we don't talk about jihad all the time. You gotta relax once in a while. My oldest kid is five, I'm not going to dedicate 24 hours a day to telling him how there are a billion people out there whose religious beliefs dictate that if he doesn't believe as they do he is to be enslaved or killed. Little heavy considering the sprout nearly went into hysterics during "The Lion King." (That said, I highly recommend Tom Kratman's novel Caliphate. Pretty bleak picture of what's likely in store for Europe should current trends continue).
Recall the quote - "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
Where I heartily disagree with Gellar et al ties in with that. I don't want us to be all jihad, all the time. We've seen what happens in those cultures and it's not pretty. Look at Palestinian kid's TV, for pete's sake. Obviously their demonization of the Jews is nonsense, but I don't want to be like them. Our victory and their defeat comes in living our lives as we see fit, not becoming jihadis for America. So Pam, Robert? Chill. I'm going to let my kids be kids, and when they're old enough, I'll show them United 93 and tell them what that day was like. I'll pull Infidel (Hirsi Ali), The Truth about Mohammed (Spencer), Caliphate, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (Spencer, AGAIN), and give them factual information when they are capable of at least semi-adult understanding.

It was the last thread of the night, there weren't always ONT's, and a bunch of us midnight clubbers would just use the most recent post to talk about whatever.
Ed Snate started the conversation, based on my sarcast reference to agincourt I think. Since Ed and I were the only ones at the time who knew certain things about eachother, he asked me if I would prefer the English Longbow, or the creten, I think creten, Crossbow. The foundation of the discussion, and it was a serious historical discussion at first, about the power of penetration, Crossbows, or the volume of fire and range that comes with the English Longbow.
It was less us ignoring ace, as just talking around him when he came back to the thread, after the thread was basically dead. I know me and Ed were banned.
Though quickly re-instated.

Haven't tried that, but it would probably work well (had sufficient bacon in other places on the menu). Probably counts as a "fat".
My theory is that the alcohol extracts the volatile organics from the flavoring, but dumps them into the fat as it mixes around and finally boils off. then, when the onions soften and go translucent, they pick up the flavorings from the fat -- which also helps them cook more evenly. I don't measure exactly, but about half an onion makes a nice bundle, takes half a shot of alcohol and about a pat of butter.

The foundation of the discussion, and it was a serious historical discussion at first, about the power of penetration, Crossbows, or the volume of fire and range that comes with the English Longbow.
That's also what makes it funny is because it did start as a fairly interesting side discussion about that topic. Then things went a bit, erm, sideways.

After some earthquake, a group of rocket surgeon imams decreed that earthquakes were caused because women were displaying their breasts in an unseemly manner. That resulted in the calls for a "boobquake" aka getting women to post pictures of their boobs (covered or no) in order to either cause an earthquake that would hit a 50 on the Richter scale, what with all that tittage, or, you know, no earthquake. There was no earthquake though there were numerous reports of extremely localized dislocation.

I think the short story "Visit to a Small Planet" was written by Gore Vidal that I read many years ago, as a child.
It was a satire on American politics and culture. Actually pretty funny. And a short story too. Before he got totally cynical and depraved and appeared in "Bob Roberts", and came off as a whiny old man. And wrote yet another penultimate book about "Lincoln", trying to reveal things that have already been revealed about the most written about President in US history.
If he would have aged less gracefully and become silly and grumpy like William Windom, then he could have played it for laughs and Craig Kilborn would have loved him.

Really cool idea i got from Popular Mechanics or something...go figure. Get some whole mushrooms - the standard variety works fine- and pop the stems out. Put the caps on the grill upside down and add a pinch of salt to each one. When the liquid starts to form they're ready to eat, and it's pretty hard to burn them. Makes a great appetizer if you like mushrooms.

Philly. You can find really hot sauce, but not at regular stores. They only have stuff that says "super hot" but isn't. More like tabasco, maybe a bit hotter. It's nice, but ... for the ladies
On a related note, for some reason, the spicy stuff for humus (s-choog) does wonders for heartburn. Eat lots of s-choog every day and you never have to eat any tums or whatever people take for heartburn these days.

I think what pisses me off about this little screed from Gellar-Spence-IOTW...about how Ace and WZ "don't talk about jihad and sharia enough".....
....is that around here, it's sort of a 'given'....a baseline...that sharia sucks, the jihadis are murdering baby-rapers....and islam is a totalitarian form of government, masquerading as a religion.
It goes without saying.
It's.....understood.
Most of us share in a simmering disdain for it.
So there's no need to be flogging it....night and day.
There's that.
And then...there's the fact that so many of the commenters here are either veterans, active, have ties to the military...or have family that are active duty.
So there is a large contingent of folks here who have actually paid some fucking dues to the cause.
So for these 'blog police' snobs to get their delicate sensibilities all in a dither about some perceived lack of mention....some sense of "not enough".....well, it just pisses me off to no end.

Doesn't take much of it either.....to lend the desired thickening and stick-to-the-meat texture to the sauce....without making it sweet.

I keep waiting for someone to come up with an economical way to separate Levose from bulk Dextrose...that will rock. Levose is a stereo-isomer of Dextrose (i.e. identical formula and molecular layout but a mirror image molecule). Humans don't have enzymes needed to to digest Levose, so it would taste sweet, act like Dextrose in cooking, but have no calories we can metabolically process.
All bulk Dextrose contains some small percentage of Levose.

You know what I meant (break it down and there is a shit ton of different sugars).
Personally, though there isn't supposed to be much different, HFC never gives me that full feeling that I get from something like cane sugar. And as for BBQ sauces, vinegar based sauces on the side are the way to go, not slathered on when grilling as that covers up the taste of the meat. On the flip side, it covers up the taste of the meat

I got an uncensored version. (Got it from TPB this morning.) It's sort of generic in the way that all Ecchi tends to be, using a quickly absorbed premise to get the sax and violins happening. But you could say that about most anime, that most of it can be slotted into a dozen themes.
In this case, you have the same theme as Evangelion, viewed broadly. Alien invasion being fought of by youth put through a grueling program to make them super-weapons. In this case we have teenage girls as the frontline warriors and somewhat younger males as their supporters who enhance their power. So this gives us Amazon fighting duels for rank and to bind the most promising Limiters (whose primary function is the eponymous 'freezing' against their enemies) in the school.
The lead character is the younger brother of the fighter who struck the decisively blow in the last big attack. The female lead is a prodigiously constructed student rapidly establishing herself as the most promising talent in the school but she has an aversion to being touched from some past trauma. Naturally, the two leads are introduced when he accidentally motorboats her amazing cleavage.
From what I've seen sofar, I can imagine production meetings with a dry erase board showing two categories to make sure everyone remembers where Ecchi ends and hentai begins.
So I like it in a way I wouldn't mention in many other venues.

I recall one place I did a contract stint at was merciless on people who did that. If someone sent a complaint to the entire global organization withing about five minutes there would be at least a thousand replies to the effect of 'I AM SPARTACUS!'
Towards the end, before they eliminated the option for all but a tiny number of staff, I'm pretty sure people were starting these battles on purpose to see if they could kill the mail server. Things were kind of slow and big layoffs were expected, so interest ran high in nihilistic sport.

I've had all sorts of critters lately, Soona....coming for water, mostly.
I think they must smell the moisture.
There have been big Hawks come in too....that sit for a while under the sprinklers.

This whole thing is pretty pathetic, as far as I'm concerned. But I guess that's what happens when egos are involved....

I always wonder about such 'good enough' statements. My mother is 83, has had cataract surgery on both eyes, and began watching on a $0" 1080p monitor a little over a year ago.
She now instinctively seeks out the 4xx range on the channel guide because that is where all of the HD content lives. She's no videophile but she knows which version of CBS has a hotter looking Simon Baker for her to admire.

I find that kinda shit incredibly annoying. It pretty much drives me away from any sites that do it. It shows a poor grasp of human factors, usability, etc. Some people are color blind and can't see things unless they're very contrasty...like ummm black on white, or black on light gray. People see garish colors in web page text as simply a distraction.
I have a red/green color blindness (which about 10% of the male population has), so I'm pretty sensitive to this kind of thing.
The occasional red/dark blue on white heading is OK as a highlight. It doesn't take much to draw attention, just be a little different or go a few points larger on a font.

Rather, swatting gone too far.
Blog Swat Effect
Revisionist-PC right wing blogs unite to promote IslamoPC vs. the scholar Robert Spencer, target the take down of agitator Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs.
Why is she so bent on Sharia's denunciation? Most obviously, she sees the Islamic onslaught v. female gender. Women as second class citizens must be grateful that they are not simply still mere property.
And the male Republican response remains STFU, "who the fuck cares what she thinks" old shit. As if that self defeating response doesn't feed the GOP WAR ON WOMEN mantra. You want to get Obama out of the White House, expose his administration's wars as determined genocide of every weaker population, that includes the "survival" of victimized Middle Eastern women and children via the Islamist slave trade. There's plenty of innocent blood spilled there from Obama's administration's hand. But that has nothing to do with 2012 electoral campaign?
If it's victory we're all intent to achieve, then don't attack an ally in order to feel justified in the ignorant mindset of ONE VOICE Obama's way. Spencer has his hill. Support his rights; support your own. At least don't sabotage an ally because his specialty is beyond your brain to comprehend, appreciate or even TOLERATE.
As far as popularity contests go, I don't put much stock in beauty pageants. If the shoe fits, enjoy wearing it, Cinderella.
...
iOwnTheWorld, Big Fur Hat:
Robert Spencer’s, position is that the top level blogs are slowly buying into the notion that we have to watch what we say because insulting “moderate Islam” would mean we’re unhinged and we have “gone too far,” a phrase I saw a lot in the AoS comments section.
UPDATE 3- Robert Spencer confirms my suspicions. This is distressing.
Weasel did not participatie in Everyone Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day, the name Brett Kimberlin and Weasel Zippers do not appear together in a Google search, nor does the term SWATing or Swatting. Using the search feature on his blog doesnÂ’t produce any matches for either entry either. That sounds like a guy interested in making a career from blogging. No need for his blog to get on a serial litigatorÂ’s radar, letting all the other schmucks do that story.

Yep, the most immediate threat to the nation isn't Islam, its the jackass in the WH. If he wins another term, America won't need to worry about Islam anymore...because it won't exist long enough for Islam to be the biggest problem we face.

I gotta say I like Pamela Gellar personally. I've corresponded briefly with her a few times in the past regarding (in both instances) Israel-related foreign policy topics, in which she is (or was) extremely knowledgeable. The reason I was booted off Charles Johnson's LGF is because I spoke up for her in some kind of weird attack thread he had going over there. (This was just before it became evident to everyone that Johnson is seriously mentally ill: paranoid, grandiose, and hopelessly neurotic.)
Both Pam and her mentor, Robert Spencer, see Sharia and other expressions of radical Muslim influence everywhere now. Maybe it's because they're so immersed in the issue they can't see anything else. I don't know. I keep thinking about James Jesus Angleton, the great CIA counterintelligence chief, whose job by definition required that he suspect enemies everywhere. At one point, Angleton grew so paranoid that he came to believe Henry Kissinger, then Secretary of State, was a Soviet agent or under KGB influence. Kissinger heard about it and was more personally concerned about Angleton's health and state of mind than any damage to his own reputation.
Same thing here. I like Pam Geller. I worry about her. I don't, however, like Robert Spencer. He strikes me as a self-important little asshole.

Recall the 'Support Michael Yon' mantra that subsequently went overboard with 'Michael Yon's Insane' as soon as Yon criticized a General, and Yon's journalist expositions revealed the established specific corruption within our Military Brass protocol. Where's the support here for our troops, giving his mission more visibility, to provide the wounded access to helicopters reserved and idly awaiting an injured OFFICER?
If you're into scholarly research, or scientific experiment, personality is the determining factor in comprehending relevance of information? Again, beauty pageant. Only in politics. It's an idiot and lame brain who feels threatened that someone within their party takes interest in a specific aspect that directly affects their life much more so than it affects yours.
The need for homogeneity in ONE VOICE enforced by Alinsky/Marxist tactics is not Obama's monopoly, but exercised across the board.
Moat/Beam. If the points made by Pamela Geller or Robert Spencer are insignificant and/or distractions, THEN IGNORE THEM. No need to attack them because you either don't like them personally or you couldn't care less about what they care about. Geller or Spencer haven't a monopoly on obsessing. Those carrying on warfare rather than tolerating have their own contentious natures to tame.
And when it comes time to researching a topic from within the Koran, I don't care if Robert Spencer is an asshole as long as he's accurate on scholarship. Same goes for any "great" teacher. If you go through studies only working with "nice guys" you aren't challenging yourself to grow from conflict. Personality is icing on the cake, but you study from the academically best professor in order to learn what that professor knows and to see things from that perspective within the context of the course.

go figure
A major problem with your comment: It is Geller and Spencer who are attacking those who don't kneel at their feet. Even worse, they're using IOTW as their proxy attack dog. Those who don't pass the Atlas Shrug's purity link test are labeled sellouts.
When the messenger become more important than the message, all credibility is lost.
