Buck up lil' campers - with charts like going for us this we still have at least 2 or 3 solid chances left to snatch defeat from the maw of victory.
New campaign slogan: This will NOT be our new normal!
Ezra Klein: Paul Ryan is Obama's golem, or something like that
Yes because the Franken-Ryan is all part of Obama's 4-dimensional chess-basketball game.
But twisted as that is, it pales in comparison to Ezra Klein's latest effort, which is less colorful but decidedly more convoluted. In Klein's fevered imagination, Obama not only wanted Ryan to become the de facto leader of the Republican Party because Obama thought his views would be easy to run against (which Obama may indeed have believed), but the president has actively worked for several years to build Ryan up and then tear him down with this very aim in mind. Therefore, according to Klein, Ryan is Obama's creation (the title of his piece is "How Obama Created the Greatest Threat to His Presidency"):
Here's the weird thing about Paul Ryan being named to the Republican presidential ticket: It's all part of Barack Obama's campaign plan - a plan that's working better than his strategists could have hoped. You need to read the whole thing to get the flavor of it.
Also: Paul Ryan and the farce of liberal compassion![]()
Your New Eco-Crime: Air Conditioning
Mr. Wargocki says that an office temperature in the mid to high 70s should be fine. The comfortable temperature for sleeping (naked) is around 84, Mr. Tanabe says, if a fan is on.Those suggestions are a good deal warmer than the norms in the United States, which underlines a cultural differences in cooling preferences.
"The temperature many Americans find most comfortable indoors in summer - 70 degrees - feels uncomfortable to most Europeans, who find it too cold," said Mr. Sivak, who suggested that Europe's greater environmental awareness might make people more inclined to put on an extra sweater in winter or tolerate a bit more heat in summer.
Unfortunately many tropical places - including Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong - seem to have followed the United States' lead in cooling preferences, Mr. Tanabe said, holding cooler to be better.
You can have my AC remote when you pry it out of my cold, dead-cold hands. I'm not kidding about this. Seriously do NOT fuck with my air conditioning.
Christian Fundamentalists Hate Set Theory?!?
Okay I'm not really convinced there's anything here. About the only evidence is a blurb that A Beka, publisher of Christian-themed textbooks, has on their webpage:
Unlike the "modern math" theorists, who believe that mathematics is a creation of man and thus arbitrary and relative, A Beka Book teaches that the laws of mathematics are a creation of God and thus absolute. Man's task is to search out and make use of the laws of the universe, both scientific and mathematical.
A Beka Book provides attractive, legible, and workable traditional mathematics texts that are not burdened with modern theories such as set theory. These books have been field-tested, revised, and used successfully for many years, making them classics with up-to-date appeal. Besides training students in the basic skills needed for life, A Beka Book traditional mathematics books teach students to believe in absolutes, to work diligently for right answers, and to see mathematical facts as part of the truth and order built into the real universe.
Okay but it's not clear whether set theory is being skipped because it's not so useful at this level or because it's a Beelzebub-inspired blasphemy like irrational numbers and the number of their beast, aleph-one.
The 'Who's Your Daddy' DNA Truck
Genius:
The "Who's Your Daddy" recreational vehicle is selling DNA tests, mostly to fathers who suspect their children may not actually be theirs."They flag us down, they pull us over, they talk to us," owner and operator Jared Rosenthal said Wednesday. "Sometimes, because of the nature of the services, they want to be a little more discreet about it, but they do come or they'll call the number."
In this business, Rosenthal said he deals with all kinds of crazy situations all day, every day.
"We have people that want to get the specimen from their spouse without them knowing about it," Rosenthal said. "We deal with a lot of drama, it's constant drama."
Can you recognize them in any of their 17 canonical forms?

It is called a Caipirinha.
I have had these at bars, and enjoyed them, but making them at home to my exacting standards (lots of booze) has elevated the experience.
The best part is that the Brazilian cane liquor costs about $12/liter.

These last few days have been extremely annoying so I'm going to inflict my poetry on you all as my way of getting revenge on the universe.
Arachne's magic, without the frame
Circus colors flow through my fingers and over the golden hook
Building warmth, the joy of creation.
What happens when the world is so heavy I can't breathe and this small shaping has been taken from me?
I don't know other's nightmares, but this is mine.
Already my hands stiffen quickly and the world seems dimmer,
And I'm still young.
For now though, the color still flows,
The warmth still builds,
And the world is not (yet) too heavy.

Hello, all!
I've been reading here and there about the goings on inside the Obama campaign. Not sure if I believe it all, but it's sure been delicious, even more fun than reading about the Hillary! campaign running off the rails 4 years ago. It should be no surprise to any of us that SCoaMF allegedly strongly believes it's not his fault that things are going to shit, it's his campaign staff - arrogant SOB. And, also no surprise, that hag DW-S isn't too popular, either.

The Heatwave of 2003 killed nearly 15,000 French, mostly elderly.
Why?
Because most French retards don't have air conditioning.
As a side note. Most of France goes on holiday at the same time apparently so the elderly were left on there own, and died as a result.
Yeah we should emulate these people.

But that's not the point. Akin doesn't understand that he's done. Palin is trying to make it clear to him. If he stays in, someone will run a write in campaign. She's trying to get it through his skull that he's done. If he leave the race via court order, then the RNC pays for the ballot changes and the State GOP Committee gets together and votes for a replacement.
The State GOP Committee members are elected during the primaries every four years in case any of you were wondering.

Today I was driving 45 (5 over the speed limit) when an officer blew past me (on a 2 lane street) doing probably ~60. He came out of nowhere and I was just about to change lanes into him.
Seems if you're driving that far over the posted limit - if you NEED to get somewhere that fast that lights and or sirens would be safer.

Also: we really don't have to own the magical cervix goalie meme. Limbaugh said it was stupid. National Review said it was stupid. Romney and Ryan both said it was stupid. Even Akin walked it back. So we can honestly say that it is not what the GOP is running on in 2012, and that it will never run on that theme in future.

My view of cops is a bit different than most. I think we are approaching a tipping point, where we enter what is for all intents and purposes a police state. So I am not a big fan of most armed government employees.

The Dems fatal mistake was taking 700 billion out of Medicare to put into O-Care. They basically surrendered the issue by doing that. It is hard for Obama to say "Well Ryan wants to give block grants to states inorder to cut out the Federal middleman and lower cost. And that's really bad because..."
Romney can just say: "You stole 700 Billion of Medicare for Obamacare. You admit it. The CBO admits it. Checkmate... motha fucka!" He shouldn't say that last part though.

The comfort provided by AC is partly due to the lower humidity it provides.
Much of the energy expended by an air conditioner when it is started up is due to the water vapor adsorbed into the walls, furnishings, books and papers, rugs, pretty much everything inside the house. The humidity of the air inside the house drops as water vapor is condensed on the cold coils and drains out the bottom of the unit. But as the humidity inside the house drops, adsorbed moisture from the furnishings etc. moves into the air and replaces it to some extent. Eventually a new equilibrium is reached and the humidity stabilizes at a low value.
If you shut off the AC and open the windows, the inside of the house gets rehydrated and the adsorbed water has to be pulled back out again when you restart the AC. Supposedly there are scenarios where less energy is used by leaving the house sealed and the AC on at a low level as opposed to turning it off and opening the windows.

First, forget all that crap someone told you about ventilation. If it's 95 degrees outside, ventilation just means you're blowing hot air on yourself.
So, step 1: get a powerful fan. At night, put it in an upstairs window blowing OUT. Let it run all night, blowing all the hot air out of the house, and sucking in the cooler night air.
Step 2: during the day, button up the house like there's a nerve gas attack going on outside. You can run small circulating fans indoors, but the goal is to keep the heat outdoors and the cool indoors.
Step 3: DON'T COOK INDOORS. If it's hot, the last thing you want to do is have a heat source going! Make salads, grill meat on the barbecue, eat cold dishes. It's fucking summer anyway.
Step 4: in the evening when it starts to cool off outside, get that upstairs fan going again.
I used that system here and managed to get through this very hot, muggy summer without an air conditioner. (I actually have a window unit, but I didn't want to use it.)

I restrict calorie intake. Keeping it around 1,600/day on average lets me lose weight and keeps the higher temp comfortable.
I've found the warmer temps help control overeating. When its warmer you don't want to eat as much.
The rise of the so called obesity epidemic correlates quite closely with the market penetration of A/C...at least to the level that I'll claim a pseudo-scientific "link".
Reducing the amount of warm/cold interfaces in a house where condensation would form limits the growth of toxic molds and such too. The whole toxic mold phenomenon appeared simultaneously with hyper-insulation and pervasive central A/C. That shit never appears in the old style uninsulated "Florida homes" with sun rooms jalousy windows and ceiling fans that don't have central A/C.

And Levin -- who's mad as hell about Akin -- tried to get Priebus to see that everything hinges on the November elections, all of them. The GOP says he's not getting a dime. Levin was dogged and Priebus said they'd wait till the 9/25 deadline to see if Akin is allowed to bail (if I understand correctly, he has to go before TWO Repubs and TWO demoncraps to get the okay). Odds are the Dem officials are not going to approve it.

That's my scheme. Minimize damage during the day, maximize exploitation of night temp delta.
It also works in reverse during the winter months down here. Open up during the day when its warmer, close up at night when it gets cold. I've found that even on a fairly cold winter day in Palm Beach the attic gets warm, so I pump that warm attic air downstairs with a fan through the attic hatchway. The fan is dramatically cheaper than running an electric heater.
Last winter there was only a period of about a week when it was really fucking cold and I broke down and used a little space heater in the bedroom.

Unless you're able to drive the temp down to 68 and maintain that on a hot day, then it doesn't matter. An A/C system can only remove heat at a particular rate depending on various conditions(ambient, humidity, barometer, etc). Setting a lower target temp has no effect on that heat removal rate. Foster McCollum White & Associates, Baydoun Consulting and Douglas Fulmer & Associates, of Dearborn, Mich., questioned 1,503 likely Florida voters Friday and found Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, leading Obama 54%-40%. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.53%.
Although recent Florida polls have been trending slightly in RomneyÂ’s direction (+2% and +1% in the most recent surveys), the jaw-dropping 14-point gap is a shocker. Future polls will determine if this result is ahead of the curve or merely an outlier.
In the U.S. Senate race in Florida, the poll found Rep. Connie Mack IV, R-Fort Myers, leading incumbent Bill Nelson 51%-43%.

Spray bottle of water. Get nekkid and spray thyself often. An electric fan adds cooling power. I know this because my A/C sucks. Needs work or more likely, replacement.

No one will confiscate your air conditioner. They will simply gradually adjust the cutoff on your "smart" electric meter until you would need an unachievable SEER, or have to choose between A/C and, say, recharging your car, or posting on websites. It's easy. You'll cooperate.
PECO electric utility has installed 165,000 smart meters in Bucks Co. PA. So far only 15 of them have overheated critically, and just two have burned down the houses they were attached to. But they are working on it, and should have the whole scheme ready to go soon.
Let's not forget that the President promised during his campaign to break Americans' "addiction" to air conditioning. Promise...kept!

Re. on the road in a hotel room that has bad AC.
Oscillating fans with wet towels on the back of your neck will immediately cool the hypothalamus and allow for a good cool down. Make a jug of ice tea or if you are in the south, Sweet Tea and drink frequently. Also make sure you have gatorade for some electrolyte action.
And if that doesn't work, find a good restaurant with air and chill out there.
Also, who knows about the trick in getting a warm can of beer ice cold in 30 seconds? I will tell you. Fill up a bucket of ice and then spin the unopened can of beer on top of the ice and the beer can the contents inside will become instantly cold.
The pressurized molecules within the can transfer the temperature at a faster rate. That is my theory as to why this works but I will leave it to you engineers and scientists to give me the real reason why this works.

I read it (read American Thinker regularly) and it's disconcerting to say the least. If they tried to pull something though, I don't think the people would stand for it. I don't think the majority of the military would back something like that. I know a lot of officers are political hacks, but I've always heard its the NCO's who really run things.
Then there's Patreus at the CIA, I don't think he would let it stand and it's pretty well known he doesn't think very highly of Obama anyway. If he tried something it might get ugly for a short period of time but it would end with him in handcuffs.

70 degrees - feels uncomfortable to most Europeans, who find it too
cold," said Mr. Sivak, who suggested that Europe's greater environmental
awareness might make people more inclined to put on an extra sweater in
winter or tolerate a bit more heat in summer.

They are not more environmentally aware, they just can't afford air conditioning because their government taxes them at 65% so they can have "free" health care.

The one that I thought was most amusing was that "whiter whites" from laundry detergent commercials has an actual basis. IIRC, in most of northern Europe, Canada, and the US, "white" that is actually tinged a bit blue is considered more the "whitest white"; while in Central and South America, "more white" is slightly pink.

Get bent. It's the social cons who get good judges and justices and reject the insane ones since they demand people who are anti-Roe which automatically means that they are judges with some sense of logic and Constitutionality. Roe happens to be a very good litmus test which distinguishes between idiots who like to run roughshod over the Constitution and decent thinkers who respect law.
Try and make a little more sense next time.

When optical LED's were coming in regularly in 1999 for industrial machines, they were called "blue/white white" if I recall, meaning that it was a very, very blue, but they used optics to turn them white to serve as a functional projection for certain equipment.
The layering works, as long as there is airflow, but you can't sleep in it, since you aren't contributing to the airflow.

Stealing is stealing, to paraphrase the great and powerful Oaf.
On another topic, Ulsterman has a post up about Biden going to the RNC convention all of the sudden. The Insider guy thinks the Dems might be trying to set up a false flag operation to smear the Rs and turn Biden into a sympathetic figure.
One of the commenters posted a link that talks about the OWS, Code Pink and other even worse assortment of anarchists and lunatics that will descend upon Tampa. There's some interesting stuff about the tactics of these groups and their "negotiations" with law enforcement since the 1999 WTO in Seattle. If you're interested the link from commenter Kev at 2:57 am (yeah, the times look screwed up since it's not that late yet) and it's the first article up at Ulstermanreport dot com.
Whether you believe in the insider stuff or not, it's unfortunately not hard to believe Obama might stoop to something that low. Some of the commenters on insider articles are kind of loony, and there was a time I would have been certain this is all tin foil territory, but the lines have been blurred so much it's hard to be sure nowadays.

Agree. Some of these SoCons come into office and start taxing and spending like liberal Dems because they think they are doing "God's Work" (see GW Bush). Then you have the FiCons who turn their back on abortion at every chance they get. But, we need both. When we have the majority in the Senate, we set the agenda. When we don't, the Dems get to decide what is voted on, and what never even sees the light of day. That was/is why we need the majority. DeMint's fantasy of "40 conservative GOP Senators is all we need". No, the Dems still set the agenda, we don't. You can hold up some legislation, but you still get bulldozed over at the end of the day. 51 is what we need. If we get there, we may even get a couple of wobbly Dems to jump ship.

About that 'natural born citizen' thing?
I didn't know until last year that Romney's dad was born in Mexico.
His dad ran for President, back in 1980....and I don't remember the subject of 'natural born citizen' being brought up, at all.
Reagan and Bush got more votes.
But Romney was in the primaries for quite a while....and it wasn't mentioned.
After I learned that...about Romney's dad...the way that the R-establishment acted about Barky's mysterious past has made more sense.
They don't want to talk about it.
And I think 1980 might have something to do with it.

If it's humid, there's not a lot you can do. If it's dry, you can try soaking the mattress with water. Used to do that in a place with no aircon that ranged between 115 to 110 day to night. If you're in a place that's too fancy to throw water around, you're paying too much to be uncomfortable. Pay for better conditions, or aim lower. Bare concrete and foam mattress low. But, i'm not really a moron. More of a cretin.

It's not much more than a beefed up version of the union goon squads they sent out against the bank execs - the ones whose bonuses they had guaranteed, themselves, in the porkulus, the same ones that Barky said, "It's only my administration between you and the pitchforks," to. This adminstration is nothing short of full-out criminal. They are certainly going to try to light every city on fire. That's been clear since 2008. People forget that Barky's junta had actually proposed that Bush step down in Dec and let Barky just take over, even though there was no Constitutional mechanism for anything like that and just the idea should have been enough to have Barky and his gang of criminals taken away in chains.
We've been warned. Over and over and over and over ...

There is no question about Mitt's 'eligibility'...at all.

Exactly, but they were already signalling that they wouldn't be bound by any laws, at all. And then, even after the miserable, ineligible, piece of shit retard was inaugurated he couldn't even put a cabinet together, which was about as patehtic as one could imagine. Remember the jokes about Barky and Jesus - "at least Jesus could build a cabinet".
But, still, even after this crap and the Decemebr calls for erasing our Constitution and just "installing" the Indonesian Dog-Eating Retard, we still had so many on the right who were calling him "intelligent" and a "nice guy" and "trying to do what's best for America". It took Rush to finally say that he hoped the asshole failed and that led to the same people on the right launching into anti-conservative tirades as we get to this day from them.
Having watched this stuff happen day after day, right out in the open, and seeing the right side sit by and do nothing ... it's been about the worst thing I've ever witnessed in my life.

They are criminals and domestic enemies who need to be dealt with as such. I doubt it will happen. People just want to close their eyes and pretend it will all just go away - and act as if it never happened. They don't realize that what has been done in our nation cannot be undone. Either it has to be addressed and punished or the American Socialist Superstate is just the start of something much worse to grow.

Barky was a co-sponsor of that ridiculous Senate Resolution that examined McShame's documentation and dclared him a natura born citizen (not within the power of the Senate to do, of course).
It wasn't the just the RINOs who hopped crazy all over anyone who mentioned the eligibility issue (and Barky was OBVIOUSLY ineligible, just from teh dual citizenship he admitted to, let alone the birth questions and likely Indonesian citizenship and possible use of its passport or claims of foreign nationality for schools, etc). It was a lot of the exact same people who launch into tirades against people on the right at the slightest whiff of anything. People who act as if they give such a shit about the Constitution, now, when they were happy to intentionally ignore it then ... because it made them feel a bit embarrassed.

Yeah. That was utterly shameful. The GOP "felt pressured" (which femnazis claim is "rape") because the Indonesian retard couldn't get decent, qualified people for a cabinet and they were scared that they were going to be called "obstructionists" - which they really should have been, if they had any fucking brains or love of this nation. The Holder confirmation was about the worst one could imagine. But, GOPers were just trying to help Barky as the "loyal opposition" to a guy who held our nation, our institutions and our society in utter contempt.

But I see ABC is announcing their upcoming "Special Report on Mormonism" (key eerie music now). "Join us, as we look behind this mysterious religion. ...and find out what they really believe!"

No owls big enough to eat him. Neighborhood cats and hawks on the other hand...
We had rabbits living around us a few years back. They loved to eat miniature rose bushes, right to the root.
Had to put a chicken wire barrier up, and predator pee around that to keep them away. Fortunately, humans are predators.

I do not agree with the religious beliefs of Mormons.
I have yet to meet a Mormon who wasn't a good person. Posted by: Scobface
Agree, only in my case it was Jews. I remember making a joke, when I was doing something with some friends of mine while on break that was technically illegal, and we were the cool kids, and I said, "WE DON'T TAKE YOUR KIND HERE!"
The person trying to come in happened to be a jew, and I felt guilty as shit. I said the wrong thing, but we were friends before and after, he knew it was just me telling a joke.
I knew mormons, never really knew them, but they didn't really have a temper, at all.
At ALL! and that's a rareity in south chicago.

We get some of those around here in OK too....longer ears and legs.
Get the other ones with shorter ears/legs too.
I think they are co-mingling and breeding, though...because I see some that it's really hard to tell which kind they are.
The drought has been hard on them...driving them into people's yards, where there are green things to eat.
I throw out lettuce and things, to try to keep them away from my flowers.
Dumb thing to do, I know.
Because when they get food, they breed more.

The fiery kyonyu (large bust) beauty known as HITOMI (Hitomi Tanaka) dives right into her largest bukkake performance with the Das. Inside, she has over 4 steamy segments lined up to cater to our perverted nature in a dark underground setting filled with semen themes. Everything from her having semen shot in her mouth, being fondled by multiple men, luck AV actors who get to do nakadashi creampies, and plenty of gansha with semen being plastered over her face for a wild bukkake extravaganza. 240 mins.

No, they were mostly in nursing homes running on skeleton crews during the month when everybody in France goes on vacation. Many of these places are quite old and lack any AC, and on top of that had inadequate power to run AC appliances and fans in the numbers needed. This could have been dealt with if enough personnel were available to respond.
Those still living in their own apartments were generally capable of getting to an indoor mall or other climate controlled location and camp out if need be. It was the entirely helpless who made up most of the casualties. (A lot of my IT job clients are the US equivalents of these places but they are private businesses and have things like generators to keep the AC going in a blackout.)
I have no doubt there is an accountant in the French government who has tallied up the expected lifespans of the victims and what their costs to the government would have been in their remaining days; and found this was a big money saver with more of the same recommended if they can keep most of the public in the dark and/or approving.

Don't forget the 'no criminal activity' part. The abortion crowd loves that preemptive strike approach. Because apparantly life doesn't begin at conception but a future as a criminal does.
Of course, another problem they neglect to note is the 'no economic activity' part. There are costs to everything. People who don't exist don't need resources but then they don't buy anything either. Nor produce any goods or services.

I believe that it is.I think the Dems put it in immediately after Obama's "Groundbreaking Evolution". But you'll notice that he hasn't mentioned SSM since...it remains very unpopular among large segments of the Dem base, particularly minorities. Cynically speaking, that's probably a good strategy, many gays now believe that Obama is some champion of their "rights" while most minorities can pretend it didn't happen. And we really can't get caught up in attacking them on this, as it is a wedge issue and a distraction from the major issues.

The gay marriage thing is pretty damn "extreme".....it requires that we re-define a basic element of society that has been in place for thousands of years.
It's more "extreme" than considering a baby in the womb...is a life.

I agree completely.

Very, very beatable.

No immunity against spouses having to testify against each other.
No recognition of marriage in the tax code.
Eliminate spousal considerations from Social Security.
etc, etc.
Let each state go their own way and negotiate their own reciprocity agreements if they want to.
Call their bluff. Play chicken with them and see who swerves first.

Not if the moisture can't evaporate.
UIp above, somebody said that those who want to take our A/C away should be sent to live in a humid hellhole the rest of their lives. I'd agree, except they'd probably get sent down here to Da Swamp. No thanks; it's crowded enough now.
