Charts of Doom For Obama

Buck up lil' campers - with charts like going for us this we still have at least 2 or 3 solid chances left to snatch defeat from the maw of victory.

Ezra Klein: Paul Ryan is Obama's golem, or something like that

Yes because the Franken-Ryan is all part of Obama's 4-dimensional chess-basketball game.

But twisted as that is, it pales in comparison to Ezra Klein's latest effort, which is less colorful but decidedly more convoluted. In Klein's fevered imagination, Obama not only wanted Ryan to become the de facto leader of the Republican Party because Obama thought his views would be easy to run against (which Obama may indeed have believed), but the president has actively worked for several years to build Ryan up and then tear him down with this very aim in mind.

Therefore, according to Klein, Ryan is Obama's creation (the title of his piece is "How Obama Created the Greatest Threat to His Presidency"):

Here's the weird thing about Paul Ryan being named to the Republican presidential ticket: It's all part of Barack Obama's campaign plan - a plan that's working better than his strategists could have hoped.
You need to read the whole thing to get the flavor of it.

Your New Eco-Crime: Air Conditioning

Mr. Wargocki says that an office temperature in the mid to high 70s should be fine. The comfortable temperature for sleeping (naked) is around 84, Mr. Tanabe says, if a fan is on.

Those suggestions are a good deal warmer than the norms in the United States, which underlines a cultural differences in cooling preferences.

"The temperature many Americans find most comfortable indoors in summer - 70 degrees - feels uncomfortable to most Europeans, who find it too cold," said Mr. Sivak, who suggested that Europe's greater environmental awareness might make people more inclined to put on an extra sweater in winter or tolerate a bit more heat in summer.

Unfortunately many tropical places - including Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong - seem to have followed the United States' lead in cooling preferences, Mr. Tanabe said, holding cooler to be better.

You can have my AC remote when you pry it out of my cold, dead-cold hands. I'm not kidding about this. Seriously do NOT fuck with my air conditioning.

Christian Fundamentalists Hate Set Theory?!?

Okay I'm not really convinced there's anything here. About the only evidence is a blurb that A Beka, publisher of Christian-themed textbooks, has on their webpage:

Unlike the "modern math" theorists, who believe that mathematics is a creation of man and thus arbitrary and relative, A Beka Book teaches that the laws of mathematics are a creation of God and thus absolute. Man's task is to search out and make use of the laws of the universe, both scientific and mathematical.

A Beka Book provides attractive, legible, and workable traditional mathematics texts that are not burdened with modern theories such as set theory. These books have been field-tested, revised, and used successfully for many years, making them classics with up-to-date appeal. Besides training students in the basic skills needed for life, A Beka Book traditional mathematics books teach students to believe in absolutes, to work diligently for right answers, and to see mathematical facts as part of the truth and order built into the real universe.

Okay but it's not clear whether set theory is being skipped because it's not so useful at this level or because it's a Beelzebub-inspired blasphemy like irrational numbers and the number of their beast, aleph-one.

The 'Who's Your Daddy' DNA Truck

Genius:

The "Who's Your Daddy" recreational vehicle is selling DNA tests, mostly to fathers who suspect their children may not actually be theirs.

"They flag us down, they pull us over, they talk to us," owner and operator Jared Rosenthal said Wednesday. "Sometimes, because of the nature of the services, they want to be a little more discreet about it, but they do come or they'll call the number."

In this business, Rosenthal said he deals with all kinds of crazy situations all day, every day.

"We have people that want to get the specimen from their spouse without them knowing about it," Rosenthal said. "We deal with a lot of drama, it's constant drama."

I want to be so cold in the summer that I need a parka in my damn house. If the rest of you want to sweat, be my guest. I've done it, and it's not pleasant. Plus people overseas generally stink in the summer due to: no bathing and no AC. The AC will cut the stench to bearable. Without it, one could possibly vomit when a colleague comes into one's office. Right into the trash can.

22 Please, PLEASE don't take anything concerning A Beka seriously. They are marketed primarily to home schoolers. and used in really bad (and I mean BAD bad) Christian private schools, basing all their materials on very shaky and highly inconsistent theology, with a huge pinch of politics. Yes, I've dealt with their stuff before, it is almost painful to to read, and I *am* one of those Dread Conservative Christians. In fact, one of my "rules of thumb" about evaluating private schools is if they use A Beka or not. If they do, walk on down the road. Bad stuff.

Arachne's magic, without the frame

Circus colors flow through my fingers and over the golden hook

Building warmth, the joy of creation.

What happens when the world is so heavy I can't breathe and this small shaping has been taken from me?

I don't know other's nightmares, but this is mine.

Already my hands stiffen quickly and the world seems dimmer,

And I'm still young.

For now though, the color still flows,

The warmth still builds,

And the world is not (yet) too heavy.

And I can't find Arak (kind of like Ouzo) either.

The drinkupny.com people have a nice Arak, El Massaya, that I've had, and at least one other that I haven't. And they've got several cachacas (never had the stuff, so I can't make any recommendations). Plus, they don't seem to have Utah on the short list of states they don't ship to.

The Heatwave of 2003 killed nearly 15,000 French, mostly elderly.

Why?

Because most French retards don't have air conditioning.

As a side note. Most of France goes on holiday at the same time apparently so the elderly were left on there own, and died as a result.

Yeah we should emulate these people.

112 I find that for cooling, as opposed to heating, the best strategy is to not let the house heat up, so I keep it within ~6 degrees of what I know I'll need at night. It is hard to drive out the hot air. We had work done our HVAC last week and even though the system is working much much better than ever before (we put in zoned heat/cool and had the ductwork & air intakes redone), it still took a day to get the house equilibrated to a cool temp.

But that's not the  point. Akin doesn't understand that he's done. Palin is trying to make it clear to him. If he stays in, someone will run a write in campaign. She's trying to get it through his skull that he's done. If he leave the race via court order, then the RNC pays for the ballot changes and the State GOP Committee gets together and votes for a replacement.

The State GOP Committee members are elected during the primaries every four years in case any of you were wondering.

I'm just curious about what is a ballpark accepted policy regarding how driving fast without lights/sirens.

Today I was driving 45 (5 over the speed limit) when an officer blew past me (on a 2 lane street) doing probably ~60.  He came out of nowhere and I was just about to change lanes into him.

Seems if you're driving that far over the posted limit - if you NEED to get somewhere that fast that lights and or sirens would be safer.

Also: we really don't have to own the magical cervix goalie meme. Limbaugh said it was stupid. National Review said it was stupid. Romney and Ryan both said it was stupid. Even Akin walked it back. So we can honestly say that it is not what the GOP is running on in 2012, and that it will never run on that theme in future.

Yes. He forwarded the e-mail to the village manager who spoke with the police chief. I got a response, and that's all I wanted: a recognition that doing 60 in a small town without lights, going to an obviously non-emergency situation is a recipe for disaster.

My view of cops is a bit different than most. I think we are approaching a tipping point, where we enter what is for all intents and purposes a police state. So I am not a big fan of most armed government employees.

The Dems fatal mistake was taking 700 billion out of Medicare to put into O-Care. They basically surrendered the issue by doing that. It is hard for Obama to say "Well Ryan wants to give block grants to states inorder to cut out the Federal middleman and lower cost. And that's really bad because..."

The comfort provided by AC is partly due to the lower humidity it provides.

Much of the energy expended by an air conditioner when it is started up is due to the water vapor adsorbed into the walls, furnishings, books and papers, rugs, pretty much everything inside the house. The humidity of the air inside the house drops as water vapor is condensed on the cold coils and drains out the bottom of the unit.  But as the humidity inside the house drops, adsorbed moisture from the furnishings etc. moves into the air and replaces it to some extent. Eventually a new equilibrium is reached and the humidity stabilizes at a low value.

If you shut off the AC and open the windows, the inside of the house gets rehydrated and the adsorbed water has to be pulled back out again when you restart the AC. Supposedly there are scenarios where less energy is used by leaving the house sealed and the AC on at a low level as opposed to turning it off and opening the windows.

223 If you don't have AC, here's how to keep the place bearable.

First, forget all that crap someone told you about ventilation. If it's 95 degrees outside, ventilation just means you're blowing hot air on yourself.

So, step 1: get a powerful fan. At night, put it in an upstairs window blowing OUT. Let it run all night, blowing all the hot air out of the house, and sucking in the cooler night air.

Step 2:  during the day, button up the house like there's a nerve gas attack going on outside. You can run small circulating fans indoors, but the goal is to keep the heat outdoors and the cool indoors.

Step 3:  DON'T COOK INDOORS. If it's hot, the last thing you want to do is have a heat source going! Make salads, grill meat on the barbecue, eat cold dishes. It's fucking summer anyway.

Step 4:  in the evening when it starts to cool off outside, get that upstairs fan going again.

I used that system here and managed to get through this very hot, muggy summer without an air conditioner. (I actually have a window unit, but I didn't want to use it.)

Muslims who gathered for prayer to celebrate the end of Ramadan in a city park found bacon scattered on the ground, CBS 2’s John Slattery reported Monday. With Ramadan ending this past weekend, Muslims celebrated the end of fasting with prayer. On Staten Island an outdoor service was held Sunday on a New Dorp football field, attracting some 1,500 Muslims. But before most of the faithful arrived for Morning Prayer, it was discovered that someone had scattered a quantity of raw bacon on the field. “This has been determined to be a bias event on the part of our Hate Crimes Task Force,” NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters, including WCBS 880?s Rich Lamb.

227 There is no fucking way on earth I could handle those temps at night.

I restrict calorie intake.  Keeping it around 1,600/day on average lets me lose weight and keeps the higher temp comfortable.

I've found the warmer temps help control overeating.  When its warmer you don't want to eat as much.

The rise of the so called obesity epidemic correlates quite closely with the market penetration of A/C...at least to the level that I'll claim a pseudo-scientific "link".

Reducing the amount of warm/cold interfaces in a house where condensation would form limits the growth of toxic molds and such too.  The whole toxic mold phenomenon appeared simultaneously with hyper-insulation and pervasive central A/C.  That shit never appears in the old style uninsulated "Florida homes" with sun rooms jalousy windows and ceiling fans that don't have central A/C.

I'm betting that Priebrus (I probably spelled that wrong) is wargaming out all of the possible solutions to this Akin problem as we speak.

Reince was on Levin's show tonight.  He said the GOP had written off Akin.  And Levin -- who's mad as hell about Akin -- tried to get Priebus to see that everything hinges on the November elections, all of them.  The GOP says he's not getting a dime.  Levin was dogged and Priebus said they'd wait till the 9/25 deadline to see if Akin is allowed to bail (if I understand correctly, he has to go before TWO Repubs and TWO demoncraps to get the okay).  Odds are the Dem officials are not going to approve it.

256 I used that system here...

That's my scheme.  Minimize damage during the day, maximize exploitation of night temp delta.

It also works in reverse during the winter months down here.  Open up during the day when its warmer, close up at night when it gets cold.  I've found that even on a fairly cold winter day in Palm Beach the attic gets warm, so I pump that warm attic air downstairs with a fan through the attic hatchway.  The fan is dramatically cheaper than running an electric heater.

Last winter there was only a period of about a week when it was really fucking cold and I broke down and used a little space heater in the bedroom.

260 Much of the energy expended by an air conditioner when it is started up is due to the water vapor adsorbed into the walls, furnishings, books and papers, rugs, pretty much everything inside the house. The humidity of the air inside the house drops as water vapor is condensed on the cold coils and drains out the bottom of the unit. But as the humidity inside the house drops, adsorbed moisture from the furnishings etc. moves into the air and replaces it to some extent.Eventually a new equilibrium is reached and the humidity stabilizes at a low value. 273 My first house in Chicago was a new build, and we had a real debate about whether to get AC. When you are young, I think heat doesn't bother you as much. Anyhow, we opted to try it a while without AC but by year 3 we had it put in. I'll note that this is the smarter option in a way, because back then we were paying 13.5% interest on the mortgage. So a $2k AC unit costs about $12k over a 30 year mortgage.

By year 3 we could afford to pay cash. Our next house in the same town had a finished basement, and we rarely used AC there at all. If it got too hot, the basement was cool and comfortable. We didn't turn the air on for 5 years.

In the South, it's a freakin' necessity.

284 the thermostat doesn't allow anything lower than 68 when on cool mode.

Unless you're able to drive the temp down to 68 and maintain that on a hot day, then it doesn't matter.  An A/C system can only remove heat at a particular rate depending on various conditions(ambient, humidity, barometer, etc).  Setting a lower target temp has no effect on that heat removal rate.  The system will work as fast/hard as it can until it reaches the target.

294 In the most shocking survey this election cycle, a poll released today finds Mitt Romney leading President Barack Obama by 14 percentage points among likely Florida voters.

Foster McCollum White & Associates, Baydoun Consulting and Douglas Fulmer & Associates, of Dearborn, Mich., questioned 1,503 likely Florida voters Friday and found Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, leading Obama 54%-40%. The poll has a margin of error of +/-2.53%.

Although recent Florida polls have been trending slightly in RomneyÂ’s direction (+2% and +1% in the most recent surveys), the jaw-dropping 14-point gap is a shocker. Future polls will determine if this result is ahead of the curve or merely an outlier.

In the U.S. Senate race in Florida, the poll found Rep. Connie Mack IV, R-Fort Myers, leading incumbent Bill Nelson 51%-43%.

299 Just as with a lot of car issues, we like to wave our big...guns around and yell, "Come and take it," yet when it comes it will be the thief in the night.

No one will confiscate your air conditioner. They will simply gradually adjust the cutoff on your "smart" electric meter until you would need an unachievable SEER, or have to choose between A/C and, say, recharging your car, or posting on websites. It's easy. You'll cooperate.

PECO electric utility has installed 165,000 smart meters in Bucks Co. PA. So far only 15 of them have overheated critically, and just two have burned down the houses they were attached to. But they are working on it, and should have the whole scheme ready to go soon.

Let's not forget that the President promised during his campaign to break Americans' "addiction" to air conditioning. Promise...kept!

Re. on the road in a hotel room that has bad AC.

Oscillating fans with wet towels on the back of your neck will immediately cool the hypothalamus and allow for a good cool down. Make a jug of ice tea or if you are in the south, Sweet Tea and drink frequently. Also make sure you have gatorade for some electrolyte action.

And if that doesn't work, find a good restaurant with air and chill out there.

Also, who knows about the trick in getting a warm can of beer ice cold in 30 seconds?  I will tell you.  Fill up a bucket of ice and then spin the unopened can of beer on top of the ice and the beer can the contents inside will become instantly cold.

The pressurized molecules within the can transfer the temperature at a faster rate.  That is my theory as to why this works but I will leave it to you engineers and scientists to give me the real reason why this works.

316 The air in your house does not hold much heat. So, in the Winter it is okay to exchange the stale air with fresh air for ten minutes every couple of days or so. You benefit from the fresh air and it will have no effect on your heating bill. The house itself does not cool down much at all and your furnace does not have to do much work to make the house feel all snuggly warm again. Could not ever get the wife or the kids to understand that.

324 W.T.F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PJ Tatler has obtained documents from the Justice Department detailing efforts to recruit attorneys and staff that have “psychiatric disabilities,” “severe intellectual disabilities” or are dwarfs. On May 31, 2012, Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez issued a directive to affirmatively recruit people with these “targeted disabilities.” This DOJ policy does not merely involve prohibitions against discrimination, but rather the documents reveal deliberate recruitment efforts to hire attorneys and staff for the Department of Justice suffering from psychiatric disorders and intellectual disabilities. Moreover, applicants can “self-identify” their disability by means of the “Standard Form 256, Self Identification Disability.” Those with “targeted disabilities” may be hired through a “non-competitive” appointment. That means they don’t have to endure the regular civil service competition among applicants, but can be plucked from the stack of resumes and hired immediately instead.

344 An elderly man was arrested Monday night after a neighborÂ’s fart allegedly drove him to threaten him with a gun, police said. Daniel Collins, 72, had been involved in an ongoing dispute with the unidentified neighbor for some time, Det. Lt. Andrew McGurr told NJ.com. The neighbor told officers that Collins pointed a revolver at him in the vestibule of their apartment building at 694 Cedar Lane at around 9:25 p.m. Collins said he confronted the man after hearing him pass gas in front of his apartment door, but denied threatening him with a gun. He consented to a search, and officers recovered a .32 caliber revolver from his vehicle.

I read it (read American Thinker regularly) and it's disconcerting to say the least.  If they tried to pull something though, I don't think the people would stand for it.  I don't think the majority of the military would back something like that.  I know a lot of officers are political hacks, but I've always heard its the NCO's who really run things.

Then there's Patreus at the CIA, I don't think he would let it stand and it's pretty well known he doesn't think very highly of Obama anyway.  If he tried something it might get ugly for a short period of time but it would end with him in handcuffs.

413 ....the Democratic National Committee notified the town it will not pay police and fire overtime costs totaling $14,812. To paraphrase the NYT headline: Obama campaign refuses to pay for fundraiser costs; Women, children, and minorities small towns hit hardest Romney / Ryan should make it standard operating procedure that when they come to town, they put cash on the barrel-head up front. Pay the freight and tip the driver. Obama should be ashamed (I know, I know): A (supposedly) billion dollar campaign stiffing a small town over $15k. Shameful.

423 Here's a useful excerpt. Whom Does the Government Intend to Shoot?" That's the question recently posed by retired Major General Jerry Curry in the Daily Caller, in light of horrifying reports that the Social Security Administration is buying 174,000 rounds of hollow-point bullets for distribution to 41 locations in the U.S. According to Major General Curry, Social Security's ammo spree follows the purchase by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of 46,000 rounds of hollow-point ammunition. Will they be shooting fish in a barrel? Most terrifying of all, Major General Curry reports that the Department of Homeland Security ordered 750 million rounds of hollow-point ammunition in March, then subsequently ordered an additional 750 million rounds, including bullets capable of penetrating walls. "This is enough ammunition to empty five rounds into the body of every living American citizen," writes Major General Curry, who wonders what plan might require "so many dead Americans." I strongly suggest that you read Major General Curry's article for yourself, so you can appreciate the full horror of what he describes. After pointing out that Congress has done nothing to investigate these weapon purchases, Major General Curry, a 40-year veteran, concludes with these chilling words: This is a deadly serious business. I hope I'm wrong, but something smells rotten. And If the Congress isn't going to do its duty and investigate this matter fully, the military will have to protect the Constitution, the nation, and our citizens.

437 Trial balloons? USA Today reported that on September 27, 2011, Governor Beverly Perdue, Democrat of North Carolina, told a Rotary Club audience, "I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover[.] ... You want people who don't worry about the next election." When outrage greeted her suggestion, she retreated to the standard defense: she was just joking. What a kidder! Meanwhile, that same month, Peter Orszag, Obama's former director of the Office of Management and Budget, published an article in The New Republic titled "Too Much of A Good Thing: Why We Need Less Democracy." In it, he posited that the country was too polarized; hence, "radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic."

The one that I thought was most amusing was that "whiter whites" from laundry detergent commercials has an actual basis. IIRC, in most of northern Europe, Canada, and the US, "white" that is actually tinged a bit blue is considered more the "whitest white"; while in Central and South America, "more white" is slightly pink.

When optical LED's were coming in regularly in 1999 for industrial machines, they were called "blue/white white" if I recall, meaning that it was a very, very blue, but they used optics to turn them white to serve as a functional projection for certain equipment.

487 I spend long periods of time in an un air conditioned metal aircraft hangar with only fans to cool me. I sweat my ass off in South Louisiana during the summer when it gets over 100 degrees inside the hangar and thats not factoring in the high humidity. Ya know what makes it bearable? 3 things. 1) Im getting well paid to sweat. 2) I can come home to a house that is about 73 degrees. 3) it doesnt get that cold here so i dont have to run the electric heat much either so it balances out. I have also invested in a programmable thermostat which helps with the electric bill. But ill be damned if im going to sit home and be miserable when at 1045pm its still in he high 80's in both temp and humidity outside to save a few dollars. My saying is that you can only take off so much clothing. You can always add a sweatshirt if you are cold. A/C rocks your face.

I've got what sounds like an Owl chat going on in the trees behind my house.
There's at least two of them.
It's actually pretty cool.

The two summers previous we had a family of owls living in our neighborhood, and mostly in our trees at night.  Very cool

On another topic, Ulsterman has a post up about Biden going to the RNC convention all of the sudden.  The Insider guy thinks the Dems might be trying to set up a false flag operation to smear the Rs and turn Biden into a sympathetic figure.

One of the commenters posted a link that talks about the OWS, Code Pink and other even worse assortment of anarchists and lunatics that will descend upon Tampa.  There's some interesting stuff about the tactics of these groups and their "negotiations" with law enforcement since the 1999 WTO in Seattle.  If you're interested the link from commenter Kev at 2:57 am (yeah, the times look screwed up since it's not that late yet) and it's the first article up at Ulstermanreport dot com.

Whether you believe in the insider stuff or not, it's unfortunately not hard to believe Obama might stoop to something that low.  Some of the commenters on insider articles are kind of loony, and there was a time I would have been certain this is all tin foil territory, but the lines have been blurred so much it's hard to be sure nowadays.

Agree. Some of these SoCons come into office and start taxing and spending like liberal Dems because they think they are doing "God's Work" (see GW Bush). Then you have the FiCons who turn their back on abortion at every chance they get. But, we need both. When we have the majority in the Senate, we set the agenda. When we don't, the Dems get to decide what is voted on, and what never even sees the light of day. That was/is why we need the majority. DeMint's fantasy of "40 conservative GOP Senators is all we need". No, the Dems still set the agenda, we don't. You can hold up some legislation, but you still get bulldozed over at the end of the day. 51 is what we need. If we get there, we may even get a couple of wobbly Dems to jump ship.

About that 'natural born citizen' thing?

I didn't know until last year that Romney's dad was born in Mexico.

His dad ran for President, back in 1980....and I don't remember the subject of 'natural born citizen' being brought up, at all.

Reagan and Bush got more votes.

But Romney was in the primaries for quite a while....and it wasn't mentioned.

After I learned that...about Romney's dad...the way that the R-establishment acted about Barky's mysterious past has made more sense.

They don't want to talk about it.

And I think 1980 might have something to do with it.

Another trick is to have a fan pointing directly at you as you are in a state of undress, then use a spray bottle set at it's finest level of mist, and spray water at the fan.   Like they way they do it in vegas and during hot days at verious sports events.

It's not much more than a beefed up version of the union goon squads they sent out against the bank execs - the ones whose bonuses they had guaranteed, themselves, in the porkulus, the same ones that Barky said, "It's only my administration between you and the pitchforks," to.  This adminstration is nothing short of full-out criminal.  They are certainly going to try to light every city on fire.  That's been clear since 2008.  People forget that Barky's junta had actually proposed that Bush step down in Dec and let Barky just take over, even though there was no Constitutional mechanism for anything like that and just the idea should have been enough to have Barky and his gang of criminals taken away in chains.

We've been warned.  Over and over and over and over ...

553 : If Bush had stepped down in December, Dick Cheney would have been President for a month. Barky was Constitutionally prohibited from taking over until Inauguration Day.

Exactly, but they were already signalling that they wouldn't be bound by any laws, at all.  And then, even after the miserable, ineligible, piece of shit retard was inaugurated he couldn't even put a cabinet together, which was about as patehtic as one could imagine.  Remember the jokes about Barky and Jesus - "at least Jesus could build a cabinet".

But, still, even after this crap and the Decemebr calls for erasing our Constitution and just "installing" the Indonesian Dog-Eating Retard, we still had so many on the right who were calling him "intelligent" and a "nice guy" and "trying to do what's best for America".  It took Rush to finally say that he hoped the asshole failed and that led to the same people on the right launching into anti-conservative tirades as we get to this day from them.

They are criminals and domestic enemies who need to be dealt with as such.  I doubt it will happen.  People just want to close their eyes and pretend it will all just go away - and act as if it never happened.  They don't realize that what has been done in our nation cannot be undone.  Either it has to be addressed and punished or the American Socialist Superstate is just the start of something much worse to grow.

Barky was a co-sponsor of that ridiculous Senate Resolution that examined McShame's documentation and dclared him a natura born citizen (not within the power of the Senate to do, of course).

It wasn't the just the RINOs who hopped crazy all over anyone who mentioned the eligibility issue (and Barky was OBVIOUSLY ineligible, just from teh dual citizenship he admitted to, let alone the birth questions and likely Indonesian citizenship and possible use of its passport or claims of foreign nationality for schools, etc).  It was a lot of the exact same people who launch into tirades against people on the right at the slightest whiff of anything.  People who act as if they give such a shit about the Constitution, now, when they were happy to intentionally ignore it then ... because it made them feel a bit embarrassed.

Yeah.  That was utterly shameful.  The GOP "felt pressured" (which femnazis claim is "rape") because the Indonesian retard couldn't get decent, qualified people for a cabinet and they were scared that they were going to be called "obstructionists" - which they really should have been, if they had any fucking brains or love of this nation.  The Holder confirmation was about the worst one could imagine.  But, GOPers were just trying to help Barky as the "loyal opposition" to a guy who held our nation, our institutions and our society in utter contempt.

No, they were mostly in nursing homes running on skeleton crews during the month when everybody in France goes on vacation. Many of these places are quite old and lack any AC, and on top of that had inadequate power to run AC appliances and fans in the numbers needed. This could have been dealt with if enough personnel were available to respond.

Those still living in their own apartments were generally capable of getting to an indoor mall or other climate controlled location and camp out if need be. It was the entirely helpless who made up most of the casualties. (A lot of my IT job clients are the US equivalents of these places but they are private businesses and have things like generators to keep the AC going in a blackout.)

I have no doubt there is an accountant in the French government who has tallied up the expected lifespans of the victims and what their costs to the government would have been in their remaining days; and found this was a big money saver with more of the same recommended if they can keep most of the public in the dark and/or approving.

"Come on, little fella, I just want to hear the good news!" *Screams of terror* Posted by: Robert's Invincible Rape Sperm at August 22, 2012 02:04 AM (4ixH5) Yeah, I know. But I'm a Church of Christ preacher's kid. When those guys came to my door, I felt a certain identification with them, because I've been where they are. I always talked to them. Always. You know what? When you talk to them, you find out that they're pretty fucking awesome kids.

Scobface, yet many Jews continue to vote for Dems.  If every Jewish person spent just one afternoon on the Dem sites, they would quickly learn that liberals despise them.  They're more misguided and afflicted by battered-wife syndrome than blacks in America.   90% of Jewish people have values directly inline with conservatives, and no matter what the Dems do to them, they keep coming back for more.

Don't forget the 'no criminal activity' part. The abortion crowd loves that preemptive strike approach. Because apparantly life doesn't begin at conception but a future as a criminal does.

Of course, another problem they neglect to note is the 'no economic activity' part. There are costs to everything. People who don't exist don't need resources but then they don't buy anything either. Nor produce any goods or services.

I'm waiting for the first ad campaign based around a declining birthrate and aging population.

Honestly, Mormons are hard working people who are very successful.  I'm sure they're pissed about being viciously attacked over polygamy while this insane pretend gay marriage is pushed like the Earth would explode without it ... even though nothing like it has ever existed on Earth and people would be put in a loony bin for even proposing such an idiotic and worthless idea not 20 years ago.

656 We don't have AC here (except in places with a lot of bodies, like stores and restaurants), it's just not hot enough. And in India I used to get colds all the time from the ACs because I wasn't used to them--but certainly did appreciate the wonderful, cold nights they provided! I don't think this is going to go very far, especially if it's the rest of the world this joker is trying to impress. Places like Saudia are so spoiled with their AC and they aren't giving it up anytime soon, plus they like it cold. (The joke: You know you live in Saudia when you put a sweater on to go INside.) Think of this: I had a friend from Jeddah who told me of a power outage they had a few years back; it lasted six hours. The roads were the most congested they'd been EVER because everyone had the same idea: crank up the car ACs and go for a drive. Six hours!!!

I believe that it is.I think the Dems put it in immediately after Obama's "Groundbreaking Evolution". But you'll notice that he hasn't mentioned SSM since...it remains very unpopular among large segments of the Dem base, particularly minorities. Cynically speaking, that's probably a good strategy, many gays now believe that Obama is some champion of their "rights" while most minorities can pretend it didn't happen. And we really can't get caught up in attacking them on this, as it is a wedge issue and a distraction from the major issues.

Posted by: Robert's Invincible Rape Sperm at August 21, 2012 11:59 PM (4ixH5)

715 Marriage as a concept has for the bulk of recorded history largely been a religious or non-governmental general societal concept.  Its only relatively recently that the modern nation states started screwing with thousands of years of precedent making it their business and embodying it in the national legal systems.   Clearly, this was initiated to reduce the influence of religions and promote the influence of the state among the populace. (exception is Islam where religion and state are indistinguishable in the Koran)

It seems clear to me its a grave mistake to infuse a nation state's legal system with the concept of marriage.  Its caused way more problems than its solved.

Posted by: wheatie at August 22, 2012 03:49 AM (mtRB0) And to think, just five years ago, all we wanted was civil unions. Civil fucking unions. And as soon as it appeared that the country would accept civil unions, we would no longer be satisfied with civil unions. Don't you dare accuse us of being petulant queers. We'll be married petulant queers, or nothing!

It's more "extreme" than considering a baby in the womb...is a life.

I agree completely.

736 SSM remains unpopular across a wide swath of society, as the electoral results show every time it comes up for a popular vote. Not to mention the reaction to the Chick Fil A thing. This is why Obama is not pushing it on the campaign trail. But the consensus, around here anyway, seems to be to save the social issues for after the election.

And with that, I bid you all a good morning.

743 "Marriage Equality" This is simply fucking ridiculous. No one argued for "marriage equality" before this election. No one. NO ONE. Are we simply going to ignore this?

Posted by: Scobface at August 22, 2012 12:47 AM (IoNBC)

744 I'm all in favor of "marriage equality".  Remove all references to marriage from Federal law and at the Federal level treat it as if it doesn't exist.

No immunity against spouses having to testify against each other.
No recognition of marriage in the tax code.
Eliminate spousal considerations from Social Security.

etc, etc.

Let each state go their own way and negotiate their own reciprocity agreements if they want to.

Call their bluff.  Play chicken with them and see who swerves first.

745 I can only hope that the United Nations steps in and George W. Bush is captured. He needs to stand trial before the enlightened nations of Europe at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. America is the ultimate rogue nation. The Wall Street machinery of international "bankers" funds the Pentagon war machine and right-wing hate against innocent brown people around the world. The machinery even attacks our beloved and wise multiracial President, Barack Obama, who I support completely. THIS MACHINE OF HATE MUST STOP!!!!! BUSH MUST SEE JUSTICE!

*SPIT!*

Not if the moisture can't evaporate.

UIp above, somebody said that those who want to take our A/C away should be sent to live in a humid hellhole the rest of their lives.  I'd agree, except they'd probably get sent down here to Da Swamp.  No thanks; it's crowded enough now.
