Congratulations - You Bought a New 2012 BMW M3 Coupe
Only you didn't get the car - just the debt.
The national debt has now increased by more than $64,000 per federal taxpayer since Barack Obama was inaugurated president.By the close of business on July 10, 2012, that debt had climbed to $15,885,854,755,351.47-an increase of $5,258,977,706,438.39.
In "Statistics of Income-2009 Individual Income Tax Returns," which was published this year and is the Internal Revenue Service's most recent statistical report on individual income tax data, the IRS reported that there were 81,890,189 tax returns filed in 2009 that reported taxable income.
If each of these 81,890,189 federal taxpayers were given responsibility for paying off an equal share of the new federal debt added since Obama was inaugurated, they would each need to pay about $64,219.88.
So here's picture of what you could've had. But no doubt the $64K the federal government spent on your behalf in 'investment' and 'green shoots' will give you just as much of a warm feeling. Chicks dig actual taxpayers, right?
How To Play in Someone Else's Band
Even if you're not a touring musician, there's still a lot of good advice here. And of course if you're familiar the Anka Rules, it's nothing new. These also apply to any situation where you're working and traveling with the same people for weeks at a time.
to determine if this article might apply to you, go out and look at the marquee of the club where you are playing tonight. is that your own name up there? if not, this article is probably for you. have you found yourself in a musical version of death of a salesman, and you're not playing the part of willie loman? is the act you are working with called stumpy bill mcknucklehead and you don't happen to be stumpy bill? read on.the principle rule to remember: your number one job above all else is to make the leader sound good, look good and feel good. {read that again. we will come back to it over and over. we will refer to this as the rule.}
...your path for achieving success is two fold: 1. play great. 2. in all things, be easy to deal with.
reconcile yourself to these facts every waking moment of a tour, or other business engagement of any kind within this scenario. if you forget the rule for even a very short time span, there's going to be static.
l. touring is a series of "what's nexts."
after the show, guess what? you will soon be going to the hotel. after that guess what? travel. and then.i don't know, a load-in, a sound check, dinner, and a gig. what's next in the series. while you are finishing up one thing, get your stuff ready for the next thing. move with ease. a,b,c, what's next in this series? d.
m. don't make others work harder through your own inaction, or inattention to detail or inability to grasp the overall schema.
when it doubt, stop talking and just look.
Oh and the guys get all get shirts. Always. And where the fuck is Joe?
The Flipside of 'You Didn't Build It'
Here Oleg Atbashian points out that there's a dark converse to Obama's 'You Didn't Build It' quote. Not only does it claim credit for people's success but it also implies that people's failures were caused by someone else as well. Here's the subtext of the quote:
If you have failed, somebody along the line ruined it for you. There was a lousy teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unfair American system that caused you to fail. Somebody benefitted from your demise. If you're a loser, it's not your fault. Somebody else made that happen. The Titanic didn't sink on its own. Corporations and insurance companies made a lot of money off of it, so they must be complicit. The point is, when we fail, we fail not only because of our individual shortcomings, but also because others have teamed up behind your backs. Vote for me - I'll punish the guilty and give you what's rightfully yours.
Can a 3 Year-old Open a Gun Safe?
Scarily yes - if it's one of the brands that uses common components with major flaws. Now the guy in the video may have coached his son on some of the techniques but still a gun safe should not be this easy to open.
We are providing a detailed report and analysis of eleven different popular gun safes produced by Stack-On, GunVault, and Bulldog to warn the public of the dangers inherent in some of these products because the manufacturers nor their major retailers will do so. In that report you can view eight different Stack-On models, one produced by Bulldog, and one manufactured by GunVault. A similar design defect is demonstrated in an inexpensive safe for storing valuables that is sold by AMSEC, a very reputable safe manufacturer in the United States. Unfortunately, their digital safe with their claim of a "state-of-the-art electronic lock" can also be opened (literally) by a three year old because of a common mechanism used in the industry that is subject to circumvention.
This is my son. He speaks Greek.
In 1957 while a freshman at Brown University future founder of CNN, Ted Turner, informed his father that he was going to major in Classics after being inspired by a professor. His father was not pleased, not pleased at all and responded with this letter. Now his father was no dummy and makes some good points in the letter. The fact that Turner later switched majors to Economics suggests he did take his father's advice after all.
My dear son,I am appalled, even horrified, that you have adopted Classics as a major. As a matter of fact, I almost puked on the way home today. I suppose that I am old-fashioned enough to believe that the purpose of an education is to enable one to develop a community of interest with his fellow men, to learn to know them, and to learn how to get along with them. In order to do this, of course, he must learn what motivates them, and how to impel them to be pleased with his objectives and desires.
I am a practical man, and for the life of me I cannot possibly understand why you should wish to speak Greek. With whom will you communicate in Greek? I have read, in recent years, the deliberations of Plato and Aristotle, and was interested to learn that the old bastards had minds which worked very similarly to the way our minds work today.
...There is no question but this type of useless information will distinguish you, set you apart from the doers of the world. If I leave you enough money, you can retire to an ivory tower, and contemplate for the rest of your days the influence that the hieroglyphics of prehistoric man had upon the writings of William Faulkner. Incidentally, he was a contemporary of mine in Mississippi. We speak the same language-whores, sluts, strong words, and strong deeds.
...Oh, I know everybody says that a college education is a must. Well, I console myself by saying that everybody said the world was square, except Columbus. You go ahead and go with the world, and I'll go it alone.
I hope I am right. You are in the hands of the Philistines, and dammit, I sent you there. I am sorry.
Devotedly,
Dad

We sat at the bar and watched the oyster shucker work his ass off for almost two hours. This guy didn't stop! It was amazing. He was efficient, fast and good at what he did.
And, he was from Mexico or some other Spanish speaking country in this hemisphere...undoubtedly illegal, and an impressive worker. If I were hiring I would jump through hoops to get this guy on my payroll.
I am against illegal immigration, against easing the requirements, and all for sending these folks back. But....are there any Americans who would work that hard?

I work in a bidness casual office, about once a month, I put on a skirt or dress/hose/heels and bask in the nice attention all the day long from my male co-workers.
I do not understand the current fashion for high heels with no hose--ugly, fat, white, bumpy legs need hose. You have to have world class legs, buff them with an appropriate scrub, and then use the right oil/lotion to make them look nice. It is a lot of work and most women do not have a clue as to just how bad their legs look without hose.

He was ignorant: because in Columbus's day, they already knew that the world was round and they knew its circumference - from reading the classics, Eratosthenes as it happens.
He was stupid: because Turner-Senior didn't figure that the classics do hold practical value. They teach us about how other people thought and reasoned, when they did not have the contexts of how we think and reason.
He showed his stupidity also in this comment: "With whom will you communicate in Greek? I have read, in recent years, the deliberations of Plato and Aristotle". Really? How was that possible, not knowing Greek, but by benefit of someone who did know both Greek and English?
His son should have stayed in the classics. Instead of founding CNN, whose works make my life worse, he'd have translated and commented upon Hellenistic or even Roman/Byzantine literature, which works make my life better.

Yup. Yesterday, 3 Mexican kids showed up in a beater pickup to mow the neighbors lawn. They were sub-contractors for a bigger service (the official trucks for the service are new). There was one old enough to drive and two younger ones about 14, and 12. They were hustling to get that lawn done and on to the next one.

We have a guy that does work around here for us. He's Honduran....and legal. Works his ass off everyday. But the other day he and my husband were in the car going somewhere and they past some brand spanking new public townhouses that are going up. He turns to my husband and says....."This is America's problem....you give people things like this for doing nothing. Brand new homes. Why?" So my husband explained to him what political party gives people those things for nothing in return for their vote. He said, "If I could vote, I'd vote for Romney." I might see if I can take him to the polls in November. Why not?

Jane, pray.
I am not saying this to alarm you at all my wife who has two combat tours under her belt and a Combat Action Badge told me to tell you he will be fine in all likelihood.
We'll pray for your family, he needs to stay focused and he will most likely the most dangerous parts of tours are the first 14-30 days and the last 14-30 days and units are ordinarily loathe to ask for "just one more convoy" because once a GI has crossed that threshold of "RCAF Gander and home here I come" they can lose their mission focus.
You are a fine woman and I am certain your son will have great focus and acquit himself admirably.
God bless and be safe,

The company that built my house in 2002 used a lot of "Mexicans" as subcontractors.
Some of them did good work, some just OK. The carpenters that roughed in the house were all Americans, and they made one really stupid mistake when they were laying the floor joists.
Just sayin'. I don't hate the Mexicans for coming up North to work and make a better life for themselves. What I hate is the open illegality of it all. Everybody wants to kick this can all over the lot, but the illegality of it all and the conspiracy to break the law from both sides undermines the whole idea of the "Rule of Law". And of course, working guys get it in the back - shivved in the ribs. I think that's the plan, after all.

I have a theory. Brazilian chicks are too busy figuring out how to be hot to waste time training 10 hours a day. Brazilian dudes are surrounded by Brazilian chicks all day, and thus can't be bothered to waste 10 hours a day in training.
Priorities, people. You have to ask yourself - does this thing I'm doing make me money, or make me happy? If the answer is NO - then stop doing it. What kind of reasonable, normal person dreams of burning up his life training for international games that pay shit and are meaningless and quickly forgotten.

Just remember that most of the sub-continent Indians you have probably meant were Brahmins, the upper caste in society. They are used to being upper class and expect everyone to do their bidding. We had one old Indian PhD working for my old company and he would order people around to throw power switches on equipment on and off for him.
And then he got fired. Huh? (he called the president of the company an idiot and bum rushed him out of his office one afternoon)

It's obvious what the problem is; the problem is... it's Afghanistan. The whole region between Herat and Kabul has had nothing to offer the world, ever; it's been "the shithole you have to cross between Herat and Kabul" ever since Alexander the Great, until recently, when both Herat and Kabul became shitholes too.
Okay, Afghanistan has precious metals - which we're keeping safe for the Chinese to exploit. So, there's that. I'm actually rather looking forward to seeing how the Chinese handle the Taliban. I'm guessing "effectively".

His words not mine...I've got nothing against the classics as I have a liberal arts education myself. I merely point out that science and engineering are the foundation of modern warfare and manufacturing. The stuff of which Superpowers are made...The british, as well, are well represented. It took a Rolls Royce engine to make the P-51 Mustang the best fighter to fly in WWII. And of course, Frank Whittle designed and built one of the first jet engines if not "the" first. Didn't the Russians steal the plans to make the Mig 15?

-- Never be late. For anything. Meeting in the lobby, at the airport, whatever. Don't be late and hold up the team. Especially when traveling overseas, it can get really stupid if you get behind schedule. Hell, it was usually stupid even with everyone on schedule.
-- Bring enough extra whatever-it-is-you-absolutely-can't-do-without so that you're not bugging to constantly share their shit with you. On the flip side, be as helpful as possible when sharing your stuff if someone has some bad luck. This especially applies to booze, smokes/dip/chew, meds and any good spank material
-- Don't be a Drama Queen. Don't bitch about weird tasting food, shitty weather or travel delays. Same thing goes for any personal drama involving your crazy wife and your bratty kids. To quote Donald Sutherland, "Enough with the negative waves, Moriarty". Suck it up and be a man about it. Believe me, it can always get worse (and usually will if you complain out loud and tempt the Fates).
And always be prepared for The Blowout. On every trip I went on, there would always be at least one big verbal blowout where everyone got on everyone else's last nerve and just had it out. No fisticuffs, but damn near, on a couple of occasions. Then everyone apologizes and gets along great after the catharsis of getting it all out. Happened everytime, usually just past the half-way point.
Anyone got any good roadtrip stories? Most of mine usually involve things like people getting bitten by temple monkeys, almost shooting their toes off with old Soviet firearms or getting explosive diarrhea on small aircraft, probably not everyone's cup o' tea....

But without the classics the superpower cannot endure or build its self to begin with. You have to have both, working in harmony. The US is trying to get rid of both then complaining that not enough girls are engineers.

India had been a divided kingdom of many principalities, until the Muslims conqured it (The Moghul Empire). It took many years, but the Hindus finally shook off the Moghuls (as the Muslims fell into infighting and corruption), but the country was poorer and still divided.
And that's when the British arrived. As onerous as it was for the Indians to be ruled by the British and be part of the empire, the British at least taught them some skills in self -government, started to build the country back up again after the ruin of the Moghuls and left behind the thing that the British left in all their colonies, British common law. Which is a lot better than most other legal systems in the world.

Those 800 lb gun safes may prevent a kid from getting at the guns but if the guns are that locked up, how do they protect you in a home invasion. I remember being about that kid's age in the video and knowing that the hand gun on the bedside table was loaded and that if I touched it, I would go away and never come back or my mommy or daddy would go away and never come back. I had absolutely no temptation to touch that gun. Not every kid is that compliant, I know, but I think the most dangerous thing a parent can do is try to make their kids think a gun is "safe" either because it is "locked up" or worse "not loaded." Let your kids see you handling, shooting and caring for your guns and teach them the same, age appropriately, of course. Make certain they know to always treat every gun as if it is loaded, no matter what anyone says.

More full contact = more injuries, especially with rookies trying to make the squad. We have a very small roster and it sucks when guys get hurt in practice. At the same time, the cost to society would drop significantly; but those costs wouldn't be passed on for a wile (hospitals, jails, etc) and might not ever. Government not spending as much would mean they had more money to play with. Its not like they'd give any back except to their buddies.
Still, its a net benefit.

The problem with ignoring Africa, is it forces you to deal with the Russians. There's a lot of "strategic" industrial mineral resource in Africa that's only available otherwise from the Russians. Chromium is one example. Industry comes to a grinding halt when shafts, sliding surfaces, etc can't be chrome plated for hardness/wear resistance.
New ceramics might change that in the distant future, but for now, we're a slave to chromium availability.

Well the used their captured Germans and captured German tech to which they married a British Nene engine. How the USSR got the Nene, the Brits promised them one and kept their word. So the Russians reversed engineered it.
Just like the Tu-4 Bison is a B-29 clone. Three landed in Soviet Asia and were interred because the USSR was still neutral. They took those B-29s apart and built the TU-4. One of the quirks of the TU-4 as the story goes is, the crew tunnel linking front and back in one plane was bare metal and other two were zinc chromate. The Soviets painted their tunnels half zinc-chromate.

Doctor Seuss for 2012: "I do not like Barack Obam, I do not like his health care scam. I do not like that sneaky crook, or how he lies and cooks the books. I do not like it when he steals, I do not like his secret deals. I do not like that metro man, I do not like his 'YES WE CAN.' I do not like his spending spree, does he not know that nothing's free? I do not like his smug replies, I do not like his constant lies. I do not like his kind of hope. I do not like it. Nope, nope, nope."

USAAC felt they would not need super charging so instead the -1710 got a single staged fixed supercharger for the P-39 and P-40. In the P-38 it got a supercharger but strangely in the ETO the P-38s tended to blow up engines.
Meanwhile Rolls-Royce built for the RAF the Merline, named after a small falcon. In the US it was built by Packard as the V-1650. It had a two-stage variable speed supercharger.
Some Merlin engines were put in P-40Fs but the airframe was such a 1930s throwback it did little to help the P-40. Then the British and Americans each built a Mustang with the Merlin. The British Mustang X featured a huge chin scoop and was ok. The NAA XP-51B was another matter and proved to be a thoroughbred of the highest order. The rest is history.
The final use of the V-1710 came with the F-82 Twin Mustang. After even more tinkering the right and left handed 1710s of the F-82 finally equaled their smaller Merlin counterparts thus saving the US Government the royalty it paid for every Packard Merlin. But by this time WWII was over and so was the era of propeller driven fighters.

The main reason I didn't believe the polls last time was because never before in the history of the United States had any candidate stood up and said "I want to raise your taxes, hugely increase spending, and redistribute wealth" and seen anything but massive, humiliating defeat. The polls were irrelevant compared to that absolute electoral history.
First time for everything, though. Like an utterly worthless incumbent winning despite low favorability numbers and a horrific economy.

Aside from the ad saying he destroyed welfare reform they just ran today? Romney has been attacking Obama, and its been hurting him. Romney has to establish that Obama is not the saint people feel he is, he has to make people believe that Obama is not the wonderful person he's been portrayed as first, and you can't do that by screaming "HE'S A DICK PEOPLE! OPEN YOUR EYES!!!"
So far the Romney campaign has been amazing, I can't believe how effective they've been the entire election so far. Its almost eerie like they have it all planned out to the minute.

Since there will be pumps handling both fuels and to prevent any large amounts of E15 destroying an E10 only engine, the EPA has come up with a great idea. They will require people to buy at least 4 gallons of fuel to dilute the residue. Still no answer on the loss of mileage and horsepower because of E15 or all the corn that will get used in this drought.

we dropped and ran like hell back toward SELA, too many people forget that the LA democrats basically asked to be fucked....Bush had assets on hold and was told "no we got this send 9 or 10 million bucks dude"....
so NOLA got the Ray "Willy Wonka" Nagin Memorial Bus Pool and the mules got a talking point......
remember back when the media standard for the President's responsibilities and ownership of all events in America went down to "must control the weather and use a time machine to go back to Camille and fix levees"?

So far the Romney campaign has been amazing, I can't believe how effective they've been the entire election so far. Its almost eerie like they have it all planned out to the minute.
I really think that it could be beneficial to Romney to bring up that Reverend Wright ad. Just point out that they publicly stated their opposition to an ad like that and the PAC respected that opposition. Obama has shown nothing of the sort in his willingness to allow others to dirty their hands on his behalf. Its obvious Obama wants to run a campaign where the Reverand Wright ad would be an acceptable tactic.

They need to fire the entire campaign staff and bring in hired guns - people like Rove and Gingrich. They both know how to frame an issue that gets people's attention. Then they need to get down in the gutter and stay there.

I had friends tell me they were voting for Obama because of Bush's runaway deficit spending and illegally holding people at Guantanamo (remember that?) -- now, four years later, with the debt going up like a teenage boy's dick at a strip club and the cells at Guantanamo as full as ever . . . they still love Barack.
They love him because of a vile psychological cocktail of:
a) white guilt, because that shit never gets old,
b) elitism, because voting for O shows how progressive and smart they are,
c) fear, that not supporting O will let other people feel superior to them, and
d) team spirit, because a Democrat win means Democrats can momentarily feel better about their miserable fucking lives.
One result is that I'm shedding friends pretty fast right now. I've decided on a hard and fast rule: any time someone tells me a lie that we both know is a lie, I never want to see or speak to that person again. So when someone tells me that Romney wants to abandon sick people to die . . . sayonara, asshole.

Just as fair, the only thing saving Obama's campaign is a partisan media complex. Obama can't win without them period. Romney, has some things to work on yes, but he doesn't need us as a crutch as much as Obama depends on the media to rewrite and throw his gaffs down the memory hole.

I fucking hate them, especially on women. It's been a fad for 20 fucking years now. It's gotta end eventually.
I preferred it when tattoos meant you were either a badass marine or a low-life criminal.
And it wasn't terrible when douche started getting them. But when the chicks started it crossed the line.
A few years back I met a chick out dancing. We're hitting it off. Got out on a date. Things going well. Start to fool around a bit and find out she got a giant fucking tattoo across her whole stomach. What the fuck. She was an attractive woman. And she's tattooed the one part of her body that is guaranteed to be severely stretched out.
I honestly thought the piercing trend of the 90s would outlast the tattoo trend. I was wrong.

Compare what Grant did with the Union army with what his predecessors were able to accomplish.
Some of the time it is as simple as the wrong man at that wrong time. McClellan for example was a fine soldier, a good organizer, and a horrible general.

on completely non political sites. That has to say something too. I don't know if that translates into "so I'll vote for Romney" or not - that's what Romney has to tap into by showing he's a better choice with real ides - but it certainly means people aren't terribly fond of Obama as a cultural thing now.
And really, what else did he win on last time? Hate of Republicans (nothing like it was before, almost gone in fact) and the whole cultural movement of Obama as dear leader. He doesn't have that now.
Yet all the polling tell us he's neck and neck or maybe even in the lead? Something doesn't add up.

They must have rubbed Mayor Bloomberg the wrong way.
City officials pulled the plug on a vibrator giveaway by the Trojan condom company yesterday, disappointing potentially thousands of pleasure-seeking women who hoped to get their hands on some no-cost sex toys.
“I’m 57 years old. I should be able to get a vibrator!” declared Linda Postell, who was among hundreds of women (and men!) waiting in the heat on Pearl Street only to be left unsatisfied. “I have a problem with the smoking ban, and the soda ban — and now this!”
Trojan sent tingles of excitement across the city when it announced the giveaway of some 10,000 vibrating sex toys from hot-dog-style pushcarts.

The problems with playing dirty and getting down in the mud with the D's are:
1. They are quite good at it.
2. It turns a lot of people off (and this might be what the D's are playing for)
3. It distracts everyone from real issues ... like The Economy and Unemployment
The economy is a wreck, and it's mostly Teh JEF's fault. Pick a problem: either he caused the problem, or his fellow D's (Bawney Fwank, Chris Dodd, ...) caused the problem.
Unemployment ... the #1 priority for those who need jobs is to Get A Job. Teh JEF has done nothing; alternatively, he's made things worse.
Hanging the regular campaign lies by the Democrats upon Teh JEF is important, and necessary ... but it can't be Priority #1.
A 1 minute ad, quickly spanking Dingy Harry for failing to pass a budget, then seguing over to 40 sec. of Romney's esperience handling budgets, ability to lead, and generate jobs, should play well to much of America.
Fixing the economy, and getting people back to work needs to be Priority #1.

I have no idea. Polling is hard to do when you want to do it right, and most of the people who do the polling have a vested interest in boosting one side or the other.
I'd guess Obama is doing worse then advertized because the Democrats find it easier to get bogus polling into the political discussion.
But if the election were held tomorrow do we know who would win? No. Which is odd considering Obama has made just about every mistake an incumbent could. Its like Hoover v FDR and seeing polls announcing Hoover ahead right next to articles about food lines...

I second that emotion. Yes, unfortunately, the negative ads being run by the Barky campaign are working. And they will continue to work until Romney fights back. But, he's afraid to fight back since his approval ratings are so low.
The Barky campaign knew going into this that Romney would be a weak candidate - and he is. So, they have no problem pounding him every day because they know he won't fight back. They are like the schoolyard bully picking on the 90 pound weakling. He knows the guy won't fight back, so he just ups his game. Same thing with the Barky campaign.
And what do the Republicans do? They go on all the cable shows and poo-poo the Barky campaign and say "Oh, it just isn't right for them to say these things about Romney". WTF?
I expect Romney to get a bump (small bump) after the convention. But, it won't last long and then it will all be downhill from there. Get ready for Barky 2.0 - without the rules.

I had an RV over at Shady lake RV ground we all lived in 36 footer....it was either gonna be whole or choped in half....

The RV was fine and by God he did come over and help me start moving the debris for the older people there.....
was a mess but a good thing in the areas that hung tough and worked together to get the rebuilding started.....have to admit when I decided three days without a REALLY hot shower or phone service was enough I went to Barksdale AFB and saw T-shirts that said "I survived Rita" that had me ready to brain the drama queens.....

Yep. Start cutting ads as to what unemployment was the day before Bambi went to Washington as a Senator. Then ask are you better off now or then?
Do the same thing with the debt and the deficit.
Run those in high rotation.
When Bambi start whining about them cut an ad blaming him outright for Brian Terry's death. Because he is.
When his response team flips to that, ask why he won't talk about the economy.

I agree with all of your post - for the most part. But, it's going to take more than the typical campaign ads to win against Teh Evil Bastard.
First off, Barky has almost ALL of the media in his pocket. So, none of Romney's generic ads are going to get any play in the MFM - not. going. to. happen.
Second, likely voters already know that the economy is in the tank - they don't have to be told again.
Third, Romney has to show likely voters that he is a fighter and that he'll defend himself. If he won't defend himself, how can they trust that he'll defend them.
Fourth, VP pick. This is probably the most important VP pick in the last 100 years. He has to pick a conservative and hopefully a conservative from a state where he needs help (Florida).

Yeah Pew had Obama up 10 , Fox has him up 9. Pew had +19 dems and Fox had +9 dems. Obama had +7 dems in 2008, we had +2 repubs in 2010.
The polls are liar polls right now. They give lib talk show hosts and anchors something to cheer about and they also move public opinion on there own.

Not true! The brightest white LED's are made right here in Durham NC. We didn't lose as many jobs to China as we did to automation, BTW, but entire industries (textiles, for example) went overseas because they couldn't be automated fast enough to compete with cheap Chinese labor. (Part of this you can blame on unions.) Automation requires an initial investment into expensive machinery.

596 Not an Artist
"Third, Romney has to show likely voters that he is a fighter and that he'll defend himself. If he won't defend himself, how can they trust that he'll defend them."
Yes. Clearly. But if a recent rumor posted at Ulsterman is true (deliberately leaked poll, Jarret went Hulk, Axelturf hid for 48 hrs.), the Romney Campaign knows how to severely disrupt Teh JEF. I choose to believe this rumor, and I expect more to follow.
"Dirty" is probably not the way to win, as there's evidence that Axelturf is hoping to depress turnout using "dirty".
But defense is necessary. Highlighting the various lies that the Democrats have spoken, simply by running comparison footage and asking the viewer if this is how elected officials should act, might go a long way to shutting down Axelturf.
Forcing the release of transcripts (I think Teh JEF did not graduate from Columbia), Fast and Furious documents, and noe Delphi Pension e-mails, should go a long way to end the attacks and force Axelturf on the defensive.
I think Axelturf can only win when he keeps his opponent ONLY RUNNING DEFENSE.
Once Axelturf has to defend himself, judging by his recent heckling experience (and the rumor that he hid for 48 hours from Jarret), he folds ... almost immediately, and very publicly obviously. This might be the key.

The SS Camille in Gulfport was a tugboat that Camille's storm surge carried a quarter mile inland. Instead of trying to get it back into the water, it was turned into a tourist attraction. And there it was until Katrina. Katrina's winds and surge caved in the rusty forepart of the superstructure and wiped out the gift store. They scrapped the tugboat soon after. Katrina also destroyed a concrete T-Rex at a goofy golf in Biloxi, it too had survived Camille. And outside Gate 7 of Keesler AFB the last original McDonalds golden arch sign was destroyed also. Finally in Biloxi St. Michael's Church on the beach was almost rammed by a large barge.
Of course the most surreal of the destroyed 'boats' of Katrina was the Treasure Bay casino barge... with its false hull ripped up, it did resemble a beached pirate ship with its ribs visible.

(Reuters) - U.S. regulators directed five of the country's biggest banks, including Bank of America Corp and Goldman Sachs Group Inc, to develop plans for staving off collapse if they faced serious problems, emphasizing that the banks could not count on government help.
The two-year-old program, which has been largely secret until now, is in addition to the "living wills" the banks crafted to help regulators dismantle them if they actually do fail. It shows how hard regulators are working to ensure that banks have plans for worst-case scenarios and can act rationally in times of distress.

Literature usually always stands the test of time. Art, not so much. IIRC, Don Quixote is the second most read book of all time behind the Bible and it is a book about a narcissistic loser who thinks he is something he is not and it was written in the 17th century. (Mind you, I am over simplifying the book.) Could have been written yesterday and would mean the same thing.

I think some of the food that people eat came about because chefs at castles and for the powerful ran out of ideas and supplies and tried to foist floor sweepings off as something spectacular. Snails, for example. Mais non! C'est escargot! Haute cuisine!

The money he is burning through is the money he raised for the "primary" portion of the election. You are able to donate $2300 to a candidate's primary campaign, then $2300 to their "general election" portion of the campaign. Right now they both are spending the "primary" money.
I'm betting that Romney will blow the last of his "primary" load in the week leading up to the GOP convention.

Kerry was up by about 3 points at this point in 04. It's kind of like the polls from last fall when the candidate of the day would jump up in the polls and become the latest that would take out Romney only to drop out of the race within 4 weeks. We are over 80 days out from the election, and a shit load will change between then and now. I did buy Born Again with Ian Gillan back in around '84 or '85, but it wasn't the same especially after RJD's pretty decent solo career.

Now remember, IC's still do the same thing that rectifiers used to do but with obviously much smaller components. Also, it doesn't matter how digital something is, sound is always analog. Digital is only high/low, you can't do that with sound.

I know, but the actual sound you hear is analog. You can always modify sound with digital precision since it was first done with CD's, but what you hear is analog all day.

And, you know, the Speaker of the House is right behind the VP in line for the Presidency. So, it's not even that big a line-jump for Ryan to go to VP.

Point being, digitally encoded music versus analog recorded music can be a debate for another time. I'm just saying that all sound is analog no matter what and digital is not always preferable. My point is that I'm older and getting drunker and prefer the old circuitry from amplifiers that I felt produced more truer sound than what is out there today. Kinda like the guitarists who prefer tube amps even to this day.

I think the GOP would be smart to "pass around" the Speakership instead of having one person holding it until they die or they lose the House. Doing that would freak the Dems out because they wouldn't be able to Alinsky that person as effectively.

Since you are more educated in electronics than I and digital is a more accurate representation of music than analog, (again, didn't want a CD versus LP debate) and the circuitry with IC's is way easier and more advancements in technology allows for obviously more innovations. I guess to turn this around, do you think that digital is the end all/be all or could you design some sort of CE amplifier with your knowledge that could sound better than digital? I know that's simplistic, but honestly I really want to know.

The marketing people have made a living for years hyping stuff that's beyond native human receptor resolution.
ex. "32 bit graphics!!!!" we're just able to discern that 64K color spectrum is a bit choppy, but 24 is more than enough. So cards just slosh around a lot of data that we can't tell the difference of anyway.

The music was "Hava Nagila", in honor of the athletes murdered by terrorists 40 years ago, the athletes that the IOC couldn't be bothered to honor because it might upset some poor, innocent Islamists.

Coby sells cheapy stuff for truckers and the like. They last about 3 years and then they are junk. But for a MP3 how could you go wrong? If you already have downloaded/paid for your music then it is nothing more than a glorified flash drive. I'd say go for it with the thought that it is a ten dollar item and it won't last forever.

Wha?
You'd think they'd at least support 720p. Is that the resolution they're really doing on the consoles? The Xbox has a dedicated scaler so it's easy to trade off resolution for complexity but trickier on the PS3. OTOH, you shouldn't need to drop below 720p on the PS3.
Considering the first game was PS3 only, you'd think that was the core platform for the sequel. OTOOH, it's a lot easier to port from the Xbox to PC with both using DirectX calls.
Most decent GPUs can handle scaling. I'm amazed they wouldn't at least allow the use of 1080p, which is an easy scaling target even in software thanks to the math.

different engine compared to Demon Souls (it's a stop gap multiconsole engine). That is the resolution of their assets. Sad part is that the previews say that the game still chugs which is a bit shocking as it wasn't uncommon to get single digit fps in Blight Town.
They were pretty upfront about that the port wasn't going to be good when it was announced as they have no experience at all when it comes to PC gaming though. Hope they don't throw in the towel if/when this bombs as I really would love more games from FROM on the PC as their games are always ambitious but the fps take a dump on consoles. They really need a team they feel comfortable with to farm out the PC versions

Believe me, I was taking notes.....and this is going to be entertaining.
I'm phobic about being punctured. When I'm having blood tests, it's like a live rattlesnake sitting on my chest until the needle is out. I've had multiple dental crowns done with no anesthetic whatsoever because I'd rather experience the pain than the needle.
And before anyone launches in crossways -- I know what a phobia is...it's an irrational reaction. So if you discuss it rationally, it doesn't help. I'm the most rational person I know -- if I could have talked myself out of it, I'd have done so already.
For the BH, they established an IV drip and later introduced a sedative. For me, if you don't want extreme reactions, you need some sort of sedative BEFORE establishing an IV. If I ever wake up from a traffic accident with an IV, I'm very likely to be collapsed in a fetal position clutching the spot where it was pulled out and about 40 feet away 10 seconds later.

Nah. You have represented clients at audits before. You've seen lots of people get the scope without the dope.

That I recognized.
'Cause it was me, six months before.

since you are sharing you need to be aware that I am just the kinda bastard that will flip you massive amounts of shit about it.
I adopted the policy after a friend of mine visited me in the hospital after a surgery on my face. I had a cast on and a lot of swelling and it hurt like hell every time I laughed. I was also on a metric shitload of some kind of medication so laughing was really hard to avoid. He must have sat there for 20 minutes flipping me shit and making me laugh. after that -- no mercy for anyone. you got a funny, embarrassing situation -- I am gonna fling some shit you way.

first, you are asking for too small of a number. no one takes you seriously for less than 1/2 billion. open a bullshit alternative energy company and call Obumbles and Chu -- all the money you want for just a small campaign kickback.

I find it amusing -- in some ways -- myself. I have a totally rational side regarding medicine, and then I have this quirk. You'll note that the 2-1/2 crowns got done.....I can make an objective determination and endorse a treatment plan.
On the flip side, if an autopsy suggests that I offed myself with an overdose of self-administered intravenous drugs, everyone can have a fine laugh at such a ridiculous scenario. Ain't gonna happen.
Furthermore, there ain't a lot of man-card issues -- and I'd suggest that anyone contemplating such have a tooth prepared for a gold crown without anesthesia. I've done it twice.
So, go ahead and flip me shit.

I really believe in doing good by donating blood, but have reluctantly had to give up on it myself because there's so much drama in the process. I've even looked into ways of donating blood while unconscious.

I was one of the rare people who really liked the King's Field series. Tried Shadow Tower and it was just to hard from the get go. There were remakes on the PSP and PS2 but no US release.
The asset resolution is no surprise. Very few current console games are natively 1080p. But they scale post-rendering tot hat res just fine. It's bizarre that they would not let PC gamers, who are quite used to it, decide for themselves if they're getting adequate performance at their display's native resolution.
All of the other sites I've ever looked at for torrents were awful in their organization compared to Demonoid. I hope they come back within a couple months because I'll start running out of reading material around then, I estimate. TPB is OK for comics but that is only a small portion of my reading interests. For instance, I was really hoping to find that new book about Frank Marshall Davis.
I may actually have to go to the library again.

Can I get a government sponsored Yvonne Craig? I'm entitled, damn it!

If that's the new hotness, then I'm entitled to a gov't.-sponsored Nicole Kidman. Or Sofia Vergara. Or . . .

Hell, I'm afraid of melatonin. Stuff gave me a creepy dream where I was walking around with the back of my head cracked open like an egg, and in the mirror I could see my brain looking like the yolk. Brrr.
