Swinging the 2000 Florida Vote
Either I never heard about this or it got lost in all the wailing and endless recounts.
How campaigns try to sway polling results: "In a close race, the operatives are trying to manipulate the turnout through their paid and earned media. The earned media includes lobbying and trying to skew the public polls. Historically the most egregious case was the 2000 Gore campaign's lobbying the networks' exit pollsters for an early, and wrong, call in Florida. This suppressed the Florida Panhandle and Western state turnout." (Polls close at different times in different parts of the state, because the state stretches into two time zones.) "In our post-election Florida poll, we found that thousands of Panhandle Floridians heard the call and although their polls were still open for an hour in a close national race decided not to vote. Panhandle voters went two-to-one for Bush. The CBS early wrong call nearly triggered a national crisis."
And what worked before will be tried again:
What Obama and his allies are doing now: "The Democrats want to convince [these anti-Obama voters] falsely that Romney will lose to discourage them from voting. So they lobby the pollsters to weight their surveys to emulate the 2008 Democrat-heavy models. They are lobbying them now to affect early voting.
Confused? Then use this handy-dandy guide to predict what time your polls will close:
Federal Judge Says No Right To Secret Ballot, OKs Barcoded Ballots
Arguello said activists had not shown the plaintiffs had suffered or would suffer any specific injury that could be remedied by a federal court. She said that even if a ballot could be traced back to a specific voter, it doesn't show that a person's voting rights were violated, saying there was no "fundamental right" to a secret vote in the U.S. Constitution.
This may sound wrong but she's correct - there's no mention at all of secret ballots in the Constitution. In fact they didn't become common in US elections until later in the 1800s.
Quote of the Day: Churchill on Appeasement
After the 1938 Munich Agreement:
[D]o not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time.
Prager University: Adam Carolla on Luck
Well a lot of people rely on 'luck' by just letting things happen to them rather than acting - and pretty much anything that happens to you without your choice is going to be bad. Here Adam explains why you're better off just assuming that you're unlucky.
There's a problem with piracy among magicians and Teller of Penn and Teller is unhappy about it. And even when Penn and Teller do reveal a magic trick, it's still a level two con.
Among his many works, Steinmeyer wrote Hiding the Elephant, his best-selling history of magic. In it, he writes that the best tricks are a "collection of tiny lies, in words and deeds, that are stacked and arranged ingeniously." Like jokes, tricks should have little plots with a twist at the end that's both implausible and yet logical. You shouldn't see the punchline coming, but when you do see it, it makes sense. The secret to a great trick isn't really its method; the method behind most tricks is ugly and disappointing, something blunt and mechanical. (When Penn & Teller have famously exposed a trick, they've almost always invented a ridiculously poetic method and built the trick around it; by making their art seem more intricate than it is, they force the audience to assume that the rest of their tricks are equally complex. Penn & Teller's exposures are really part of an elaborate con.)
5 Minor Chores That We Make into a Big Deal
Cleaning a toiletThis one seems dreadful but it's literally a 5 minute job. I think people are just grossed out because it's a toilet. Honestly just wash your hands when you're done it's not a big deal. We're talking 5 minutes, once a week here. Is that so tough?
Emptying a Garbage or Taking It Out
Everyone hates taking out the garbage. I know I do. I can't stand it. But why? It's a two minute job. It's really not hard. Replacing the bag is a joke. And yet all of us just let crap pile up day after day to avoid having to actually take it out. Man we are some lazy ass people. At least I am.
For some reason Mrs. Maetenloch hates, hates, hates vacuuming but I don't mind since it's pretty easy. So it only takes me about 20-25 minutes to hit the full house and I still get major chore points/nag waivers for this 'horrible' job. Win-win baby!
Chinese hospitals introduce hands-free automatic 'sperm extractor' for donors
Now why wasn't this developed in America - we're just as lazy and horny and technically resourceful. The sperm extractor gap must be closed!
Now entering the final week - hold strong my brothers!
The Yahoo AoSHQ group. Bla bla bla.
And my twitter thang.
Tonight's post brought to you by the glamour of vacuuming:

Um, China has what, 30 or 40 million extra young males who will never find a girl to settle down with because they were all aborted in the one-child utopia....so I guess that sperm extractor is the solution to how to keep those men from rioting in the streets.
Yeah how cozy, cuddled up in front of the fire with your significant sperm extractor and a cold drink. Happily ever after.

Not really, logprof. Against all odds, I am a huge Ray Lewis fan (and, birm, I don't give shit how many people he's killed) and that guy with the dead brother touched me, so whatever. But the refs, omg, I saw more helmet-to-helmet hits than I've seen since the 60s, more smashmouth, fuckyou football, and these guys, well, I don't blame them. But somebody at teh pub tonight said, where'd they get these guys, anyway? I said, they pulled 'em out of their ass. From that point on, my money was no good, lol.

What's the beater roller thingy like? Does it have brushes? My problem is hair winding around the beater thingy clogging up the works.
It has one, naturally, but the brushes seem less long, and less inclined to get into trouble, than any other vacuum I've owned. There are occasionally dog hairs that wind around the thing, but not that many. The thing is designed wonderfully in a lot of ways, including coming apart and back together really simply if you have an issue.
I don't know exactly why I have to pull entwined dog hair off the thing so much less often than with other vacuums, but I figure it's somehow because Dyson is a genius. I mean, the guy made a bathroom hand dryer that is actually a decent alternative to paper towels. He knows things about making airflows dance to his tune. Also, it's cool to watch the filth spin around in the chamber.

Ouch. Shivery bad flashback. I'm not a lawyer, but as native English speaker with more vocab I got pressed into a lot of "translation" stuff for my Mom, even though she was fluent. I remember having to read OUT LOUD TO HER her entire living will and trust setup. Pages and pages and pages. Interrupted with requested repetitions of paragraphs, attempts at clarification when asked and with discussions about notating what she wanted changed. My throat hurts again just thinking about it. I better get some ice cream from the fridge. BRB.

Dick Morris has been saying this for days...the polling is being weighted by Media Pollsters deliberately to suppress GOP turn out. There is no question when you see NYT and AP slanting polls Plus 13 Dem it is ridiculous. That is why people we must get away from polls from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PPP, Q-Poll and others. They are in every way manipulating numbers. Read that post on the Florida 2000 and read the pollster discussing the 2012 Polls it is amazing. There is no doubt when you see vote for the GOP reflecting numbers from the 1960s that is a MASSIVE RED FLAG!!
We all know in our hearts that we have the numbers yet the drumbeat since the DNC has been Mitt is in trouble.....BS!! It has not been the case....like RUSH said the pollsters will continue to manipulate the numbers to always show Obama ahead!! No matter how much they must manipulate. They only want the headline....NEW POLL...OBAMA UP 7 (never mind that plus 19 Dem sample...or record low GOP sample or oversample blacks or single women!!) Ladies and Gentlemen the fix is in....WE MUST STAY FOCUSED...we have the NUMBERS VOTE!!! We know we will win....Stop listening to the bias media...if this story does not tell you what is going on with 2012 then YOU ARE LOST!!
Goal suppress GOP and make us think Obama is Inevitable...LIKE HECK HE IS!!! He is in Wisconsin for a reason....Nevada, Iowa, Ohio and Virginia and Florida as well...
Ralph Reed on TV tonight is being employed by Mitt to work with Evagelicals and this man is a MASTER OF THE GOTV!!! He engineered Bush's defeat of Kerry when he energized the Evagelical Voters all over the place. He mentioned that he has already mailed 51 million copies of the 10 most important issues and where Obama and Mitt stand....He has been lining up callers, door knockers and mailings....this GUY is the BEST!! He shocked everyone in 2004 delivering states like Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and other for Bush. Remember the MSM was stunned in 2004 but the turnout for Bush!! Who was responsible...THE EVANGELICALS!!
Reed said in 2008 McLame had over 8 million Evangelicals that STAYED HOME because they did not like him...and who lost??? McLame did not use Reed in 2008. Reed said that will not be happening in 2012 and he said the overwhelming majority of Evangelicals have no problem with Mitt being Mormom....they are more concerned with Obamacare, the HHS mandate and the attack on Religious Liberty by Obama!
Reed said tonight...the MSM will be waking up the day after the election this year stunned by the turnout for MITT!! He said the same in 2004 and he was spot on!! This guy is a GREAT ASSET to MITT....very smart to see Mitt employing Reed....I very much like!!
Reed said ads will not change the game...stories will not change the game...what changes the game....GOTV!! the ground game, calling, knocking and taking people to the polls....and Reed is the BEST!!

It's getting fascinating, really, to see how far the media will humiliate themselves and their profession for him. I believe many reporters are hamstrung by their organization when it comes to reporting truthfully about O, but I'm surprised there aren't more renegades, people who will report anonymously just for the sake of being different or independent. Rebelliousness is human nature. Undoubtedly many are earnestly in the tank for O but not 100%. O is forcing the press to humiliate themselves on his behalf and some of them have to be resentful about that.

Quibble: there's no mention of the Internet in the Constitution, but I don't think the federal government can (constitutionally) force you to 'Like' TFG on Facebook, either. If the secret ballot is a necessary part of maintaining a 'republican form of government,' it should be constitutionally protected, the same way the right to bear arms or the freedom of the press now include objects and concepts that did not exist at the time of the founding.

You can add to that the "heinous experimentation" of passing rules that shut down coal generating plants that use one of our most abundant natural resources to produce electricity. But of course "electricity prices will naturally skyrocket," so that one's OK.

Green Bowl Packer DB had far more possession of the ball than Go Tate did. One ref says touchback one ref says touchdown and both refs missed the offensive pass interference against Seattle. Groan.
This is the nightmare scenario NFL wags have been worrying about: A Game was decided the wrong way because of one or more mistakes by replacement refs that Roger Goodell and Jerry Jones think are just fine.
Not.

Whats really funny is that MSNBC recently did a story about how things would have been different with Al Gore had won. Which means they basically admitted that Al Gore lost. I know its been hard for them to get there, but they finally are getting to the truth.
Al Gore tried really, really hard to steal the election and failed. He was the world's worst sore loser. If there was any justice and any balance in the world, "gore" would be a verb for poor loser. Man, that guy really was a Gore. He sure Gored that up didn't he? Don't be so Goring.

I only use the premix stuff. The problem with a hand mix, even using a drill mixer head, is lack of sufficient shear force. That leaves agglomerates, or lumps if you prefer, in the mix. Even small lumps cause streaking and drag lines.

I never mix more than a small cereal bowl worth when patching up after electrical work. Usually I start mixing it very loose, then sift in a bit more powder to get the right consistency. Starting with a real loose mix seems to cut down on the clumping.

Besides, I doubt we could find any other constitutionally valid angle of attack other than those subject to FCC enforcement. It would be easily argued to be a core 1st Amendment issue: government suppression of speech.

The NFL is much more entertaining with replacement refs. It makes the game...a game. Bad calls always happen, even with the regualr refs. They just happen more with the replacement refs.
Now, if it happens to my team, that's the luck of the draw. Games are won and lost on the tiniest of things each week. I'll take my chances.
I watch games I would usually ignore (like tonight) just to see the refs. What will they do next? They hit the heights tonight. Great entertainment. That's what it is supposed to be, entertainment.

So imagine if the announcers didn't call out the refs on that play, and neither did any of the talking heads tomorrow, and instead everyone on TV and radio talked about Seattle's great play and how the Packers lost fair and square. Posted by: Adrian at September 25, 2012 12:23 AM (F4Szr)

Vedic astrology shows that SCoAMF will very likely lose.
He entered a 19 yr. Saturn period of his life right around the time of the "you didn't build that" kerfuffle (mid-late July.). He was in a Saturn subperiod of his life when he experienced the only political campaign loss of his career, to Bobby Rush.
Other good astrological omens for November 6th (you could see that in the above image if you could read charts): Neptune (the planet of Marxism) and Pluto (the planet of Fascism) are both well-aspected by Saturn (which is literally a "restraint" on those planets.) Also, Obama and a whole bunch of people associated with him have a real shit transit around 1-20-2013 -- they're not gonna be happy to say the least.

Ho. Ly. Shit.
Now my ultimate goal isn't where I should be. That goal will take a bit more work. But I believe the two aren't far apart at all.
Three months ago I would have told you I could hit my ultimate goal around February if I pushed it. Two months ago I was ecstatic at the notion that I could hit it by New Year's Eve...if I pushed it.
Let me put it this way. My goals are set in three week increments. My goal is ten pounds every three weeks. Usually I'm pretty much on the nose, BUT the past two periods I've exceeded those goals by three or four pounds (4.2 pounds this go around as a matter of fact).
Now I just started a new weight loss period. Three weeks to lose another ten pounds. Election day is six weeks away. Should this period and the next period go as planned that would be 20 pounds of weight loss. At present I stand 23.4 pounds from my ultimate goal.
I repeat what I said above...
Ho. Ly. Shit.

Yeah, I'm pretty expert at gaining weight. I've got this weight loss thing down pat. Soon I get to learn a whole new thing!
But when I hit my goal I'm celebrating with a pizza and a Mexican Coke.
Cause by golly I want me a pizza and I want me a Mexican Coke.

Whole grain carbs won't harm you, man - just sayin'. It's mostly added sugars and processed carbs that kill you.

Ever since I have started trolling #Obama2012, like this, I have been getting strange cell phone calls.
I think 'They' are on to me.
