— JohnE. A bit of a content-lite day. So, watch this.
I disagree a bit with Caddell's reasoning here. Romney did go hard on Benghazi, but the press went into a frenzy about his statement about it. I do not believe that this media sitiuation can be solved by simply having Republicans "be tougher". This is precisely what Romney did.
Anyway, this video is equal parts terrifying and infuriating. And it's got nothing to do with having to look at Caddell. Zing!

Hello, you future Muslims! It is, I, Hadji, the Muslim Comic.
As a professional comic, who is also of Islam, I can ask you this question:
What is the difference between Pat Caddell and a person who has daily intercourse with a goat, or a camel, or whatever mammal is at hand - so to speak?
Pat Caddell tells the truth.
Democrats - they fuck sheep. Among other mammals.
Thank you thank you thank you.
Give alms to the syphilitic waitresses.
Hadji, out.

The media rewarded this defiance by throwing their entire weight behind Mitt Romney. Who they immediately began to describe as being the unstoppable presumptive nominee, and who they regularly crowned as a debate victor even when his performance had been mediocre.
This is, of course, precisely what the media did with John McCain in 2008.
And then once Romney went from "presumptive nominee" to actual nominee, the media did precisely what they did to McCain in 2008, which was to immediately turn on him and begin to savage him.
And, just as with McCain in 2008, the Romney campaign staff were caught entirely off guard by this vicious 180-degree turn, and were hapless to respond effectually to it.
"Wait! The media are doing what? Making shit up? Smearing us unfairly? We thought the media were our _friends_! They sure acted that way three months ago."
It's almost as though Romney had picked a bunch of tired old McCain '08 campaign retreads to staff the Romney '12 campaign.
Oh. Wait. Romney DID pick a bunch of tired old McCain '08 campaign retreads to staff the Romney '12 campaign. There's that Harvard MBA brilliance for you.
Anyway, the GOP will continue to get taken aback by this rather obvious tactic by the media unless and until the GOP completely changes the way it campaigns.
A good start would be to put up slates of candidates who all, universally, realize that the media are the auxiliary wing of the Democratic Party, and who all, universally, are willing to constantly and vocally call the media out on their bullshit.
Playing nice and hoping to be liked didn't work for McCain four years ago and it's not working for Romney today.

Albert Peterson shot dead his wife
and two sons hours after going to church because he dreaded the thought
of Obama winning the election, a family friend has revealed.
A
confidante of the family for the past 25 years has spoken to MailOnline
about the strength and grace of the Peterson family, as well as the
torment that plagued Albert which drove him to shoot dead his wife
Kathleen and his two sons Christopher and Mathew at their suburban home
in DC on Sunday.
A
history of mental illness, the loss of a dear uncle, and a growing fear
of Obama winning a second term in the White House took its toll on the
mind of Mr Peterson, a wealthy defense contractor, the friend said.

I asked about a screen name that merged the tea party with terrorism, and just asked that person if he or she advocated terrorist violence. I didn't think it would be out of bounds to inquire.

In the early 1980s, journalist Joseph Kraft published an essay in "Commentary", in which he compared the media to, in his term, an "occupying army": a alien force that is inflicting itself on a population, to suppress and oppress it.
And so it is, blatantly so. But, thanks to the Breibart alt-media, we now can wage guerrilla warfare against it.

I've instructed my family that if I fall desperately ill before Election Day, and it comes down to a choice between urgent lifesaving measures and dragging my dying ass into a voting booth to vote against the SCOAMF, they are to get me to the booth stat.
That said, I'm trying to get reconciled to the possibility that Romney may actually lose.
And I'm increasingly okay with that. It's starting to look as though victory will be a poisoned chalice for the SCOAMF if he wins. Obama doesn't do well under severe outside pressure, and 2013 is going to be a year of the kind of pressure that'll squeeze a lump of barbecue charcoal into a diamond. His knob-polishing friends in the media will not be able to save him from it.
The economy is already at "stall speed" right now, as we speak. GDP growth is under 2%, with the population growing faster than that. The country is, on average, getting steadily poorer.
This is BEFORE all of the bad shit that's about to get uncorked in January. Consider what's on deck for just two months after Election Day:
(a) A whole raft of new Obamanomic regulatory nonsense comes into play.
(b) A metric shit-ton of tax cuts abruptly expire.
(c) Sequestration will cause mass defense industry layoffs.
(d) Energy and food are about to have double-digit price increases.
(e) Europe is economically collapsing in on itself.
(f) The Chinese "soft landing" is turning out to be the sort of landing that drives the landing gear up through the wing spar.
(g) War drums everywhere, never good for business confidence.
Absent anything else, I think we will have a global recession next year that is going to dwarf anything that's come before. Worse than the 2008-09 one. And it will hurt horribly here in the States especially, thanks to the last four years of bassackwards policymaking.
The clamor for Obama to DO something is going to be intense. What's he going to do? My guess is that he's going to spend half his time golfing and the other half jetting off to Marbella with the Mooch. Once he's secured re-election, his "place in history" is assured, his colossal ego will be salved, and he won't have to worry about the actual detail work that he finds so visibly irritating and tedious.
I can deal with an absentee President whose party end up taking the heat for his failings. Had a look at the 2014 Senate map? Democrats on defense across the board. If the economy spends two more years in dire trouble and Obama can't and won't fix it, the liberals will be slaughtered in the midterms as his proxy, the GOP will get all of Congress, and the administration's final two years will be mostly ineffectual.
There are downsides to this scenario. Court nominations, for one. And a whole lot of people who I know and love, and who you know and love, are going to get reamed economically. But if that's what America wants, that's what America will get.
Posted by: torquewrench at September 29, 2012 05:32 PM (ymG7s)
You probably don't speak for the group that you only "maybe" abhor violence, and you certainly don't abhor so-called "trolls" (I assume that means those who may disagree with your political views on the blog) more than terrorism. I can't, as a patriotic American, believe that.

1. boycott the media. Pick one and stop paying them any attention and if possible make your refusal known to them and their advertisers.
(go for NBC. they are the most fragile, most partisan and most in the red)
2. Contribute to or instigate a lawsuit against one or more media outlets over their Payment In Kind donations to the Democrats.
3. Start or contribute to those blogs and online news outlets that are either conservative leaning or definitively neutral.
They are desperate and have decided that electing Obama is worth taking monetary losses. Let's make them regret that decision.

It's not just violence, it's the pairing of the tea party and violence. If the media is mistaken, even libelously mistaken, then why would someone from the tea party faction absorb that libelous charge. It seems like you would be playing into their hands, and the silence from the blog seems to approve which, if the media actually did such a thing, would vindicate the charge.

Romney and Ryan are very good on the stump. Have an organized campaign and very enthusiastic volunteers. Their mistake, and it is one that needs to be addressed soon, is they are not treating the media as it should be treated, as an Obama super pac.

My husband recorded his grandfather's stories. He was quite a guy....alll Irish. Would break into an Irish brogue if it helped whatever story or joke he was telling, which was every time he opened his mouth.
An officer in WWI with lots of good stories. He was almost court martialed for allowing his men to drink beer in a bar in Germany. He managed to convince the higher ups that no German would poison beer.
Anyway, my husband's stupid brother took the tape and recorded music over it. I thought my husband was going to kill him.

My gosh, someone's nic on a web blog that is immersed in snark, satire and smart military commentary among people who all call themselves "morons", has connected their name to the TEA Party and "terrorism", after the Secretary of Homeland Security initimated as much some time ago.
Geez, it looks like even humor and sarcasm are double-plus ungood in the new speech protocols of the Obama Regime.
Thud!

I never said the tea party was a terrorist group. I'm not concerned with OWS protesters -- they may be terrorists or not. Why is this group not concerned with a name that links the two? It can't be for humor, because I think, from what I've read, the group as a whole generally abhors terrorism. The tea party has shown no militancy that I have ever seen, in the mass media or online. So where does this "joke" get its reference?

In response to Reader C.J. Burch writes....FREE KRATOS!: I have to say, there is a fair amount of snarkiness - not much satire, though. Just the opposite. All of the threads, except for the football ones, are dead serious and incisive. This is not The Onion, which is actual satire and parody. This is serious. Look at the condolences to your peer, Truman - they are serious, meaningful and touching. It's snarky, but it's also hostile toward me when I have been respectful and fair-minded. Hostility and accusations of fellatio and bestiality demeans an otherwise thoughtful group.

Is that what the tea-terrorist is doing? Stooping to the level of militant feminists and ignorant African Americans -- ie., "taking back" the terrorist moniker. I thought it was for humor. The "slut" and "n-word" is not for humor. I think I see why they might be relatable, but I don't think that's a fair analogy, really. I do see your point, though.

I try to warn you about the evils of the Brattleboro Republican Women's Club, who are all Sarah Palin-worshipping sluts.
I try to let you know about the important work done at the Brattleboro Womens' Free Clinic, and the Brattleboro Unitarian Universalist Church, and the Brattleboro Social Justice Coalition.
But I have not convinced any of you to let go of your racist hate for our President. We still live in a world where a short man in an Ewok costume has sex with celebrities' garbage. Therefore President Obama will have to use harsher measures with you in the next four years.

The 40% who trust the media, who are they? We call them ... women. White women make up about, oh 90% of the media audience. Just watch morning news, you have to be gay or female to endure it (says the vet of early morning doctor appointments -- always on in the lobby). Bias is as feminine as the View meets the Talk. Anyone familiar with women knows at least 40% want a pretty lie rather than the ugly truth.
No, Romney and McCain did not go from pit-bull against Republicans to Mr. Bill against Obama. White women just (to a large extent) won't tolerate criticism of their dreamboat boyfriend. Period. Neither Romney nor McCain was ever going to get (nor will any Republican get) significant amount of non-White votes because Dems are the anti-White guy, AA, Civil Rights (but not for White guys) party. So Republicans start from White guys "plus" whatever White female votes they can scrounge up.
Newt Gingrich = two female votes, his (current) wife and mother. That's it. I love the pitbull approach, I'm a guy, but I'm already sold. White women WANT the lies, like the twenty plus weeks the Fifty Shades of Bondage pr0n on the NYT Bestseller list proved. Or Twilight.
Very few White women are interested in the truth about Libya: it was a terrorist attack, likely designed to blind the US CIA station there for an upcoming attack, Obama's hug-a-Muslim-Brother-Terrorist policy has failed, AQ is on the resurgence, we are going to get hit, hard, here at home, and we will have to submit totally to Islam or kill a great deal of Muslims abroad (and kick out many at home) at great cost in blood and treasure. When we can afford, neither.
Just like White women don't want to know the truth (nor do their beta male orbiters either) that the world economy runs on oil, not unicorn farts and rainbows, and their nice safe lives filled with convenience comes at a cost. At home AND abroad. That there is no magic speech, deal, "peace treaty" or any other Hollywood fiction that will "fix things" only a long brutal slog we likely won't see the end of. And that the choice is between bad and even worse.
AND THAT IS WHY THE MEDIA IS CORRUPT. Because a great deal of their viewership WANTS TO HEAR THE LIES. Since the truth is so ugly and depressing. The Media has lost White men, almost completely. Only coastal elite neutered male idiots and gays watch it. Yeah, rednecks are tuning into Glee for glittery fabulousness. But White women in significant numbers still EAT THAT STUFF UP like a double bill of Twilight and the Hunger Games with a Fifty Shades of Grey trailer.

While Romney may not be running the best campaign if you cannot count on the MSM to tell the truth, when they constantly say everything you do is bad and everything the other guy does is good you end up running around trying to find issues with traction.
Take Libya, you give your speech and say Obama lied and then everyone turns on the TV and sees nothing! Then you try another issue, the lower revised GDP and then the MSM does not cover it, of course the campaign suffers you don't know what to do or talk about.

It ends when all GOP candidates start treating the media as Gingrich did -- Enemies." (9/29/12 9:18 p.m.)
If...,then we must ask: Why 1988? Who are the crony corporatists (owners of the media) responsible for this treason to the fourth estate. It simply can't be the "reporters" or "commentators." Someone pays their salaries. (Although every lying one of them should be fired.)
I would like to see an in-depth investigative journalism piece that looks at Islamic money and one-worlder (essentially communist, even if not specifically Chinese or Russian) money. My take is that ever since we "believed" our natural resources, especially oil, to be eternally dwindling (1970s) and sent all those quadrillions of dollars out of country, the U.S. has spiraled downwards. The apex, Obama, who was selected and elected with "outside" money - which includes those crony corporations, especially the financial ones -- is supposed to deliver the coup de gras.
I am planning that we take our country back this election. I think Romney-Ryan and Republicans, (real) Democrats, Independents, and Libertarians will do it. All of us have finally awakened to the threat. The mainstream lamestream crony corporate media will never give an inch until the treasonous "foreign-owned" individuals are voted out of every office.
(I am very suspicious of the Bushes [at the very least, Bush the Younger] doing the bidding of "those" in the Middle East, even if also with a sense of patriotism and desire to protect America. Mostly wasted lives and dollars.
It only takes a "shift in funding". No more liars funded. That will empty television and cable. Also, imagine what will happen when all those pseudo-scientists on the CAGW tit are weaned. Talk about a higher education bubble bursting!

The next few years will be brutal and unless the press is not confronted every day for their bias and starts reforming, a Romney win will endure the same crap that George W. Bush had to take, with the press highlighting every negative and hanging it on Romney.
They need to be explicitly called out by name and challenged.

This is a good thing. It made the media look worse than it did Romney.
The media did this precisely because Romney's statement was effective. Had it not struck home and clarified for all to see just how incompetent and dishonest president Obama is, the media would have ignored or buried it.
But it was effective, very effective, and so the media wailed and gnashed its teeth and cried out "How dare you!"
Getting that kind of a reaction from the media is a GOOD THING. It makes them react to what Romney is doing, instead of the other way around. It lets Romney define what the media is going to lie about, not the media. In short, it gets inside their OODA loop. When the media is put into this position, they will panic and act like a trapped animal, making their corruption and dishonesty all the more apparent to the American people.
The only people fooled by the media's response to Romney over Benghazi are the people who will always be fooled, the sorts of people who read Pravda in the bad old days and believed what they were told. The sort of people who continued to buy newspapers in Nazi Germany.
