— andy You can file this under "liberals are so stupid" I guess, but last night Obama's campaign manager sent out an email that said of Paul Ryan,
He lied about Medicare. He lied about the Recovery Act. He lied about the deficit and debt. He even dishonestly attacked Barack Obama for the closing of a GM plant in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin — a plant that closed in December 2008 under George W. Bush.
We all know the spin they put on Medicare and the spendulus, but let's talk about that GM plant. First, the "fact check":
The Janesville plant stopped production of SUVs in 2008 and was idled in 2009 after it completed production of medium-duty trucks.
So no, Messina, it closed in 2009. Furthermore, according to that JS piece, it has been sitting there idle waiting for the economy to recover, which is the exact point Paul Ryan was making, as you'll see when we roll the tape on Ryan's speech.
President Barack Obama, came to office during an economic crisis, as he has reminded us a time or two. Those are very tough days. And any fair measure of his record has to take that into account. My own state voted for President Obama. When he talked about change, many people liked the sound of it. Especially in Janesville where we were about to lose a major factory. A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that G.M. plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said, "I believe that if our government is there to support you, this plant will be here for another 100 years."That's what he said in 2008. Well, as it turned out, that plant didn't last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that's how it is in so many towns where the recovery that was promised is no where in sight. Right now, 23 million men and women are struggling to find work. 23 million people unemployed or underemployed. Nearly one in six Americans is in poverty. Millions of young Americans have graduated from college during the Obama presidency, ready to use their gifts and get moving in life. (emphasis added)
The plant is a symbol for the failure of Hope 'N' Change, and Messina knows just how powerful and easy to visualize the image of a closed plant is ... especially in Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio.
So he sent the Obama fanboys on a mission to quibble over the date it closed to distract attention from the fact that it still sits there shuttered, a victim of President Tee Time's failed policies like so many other parts of our economy after his flowery rhetoric of 2008 ran into the cold, hard wall of his incompetence.
Doc Zero has more on the saga of the Janesville plant. On a related note, AC/DC fan Paul Ryan just released a summarized version of the Romney/Ryan budget:
Obama® Brand red ink sales hardest hit.

Snipped:
Two other GM assembly plants in Spring Hill, Tenn. and Janesville, Wis. were also under consideration to build the future small car. Spring Hill will be placed in standby capacity status in Nov. 2009, as announced earlier this month. The plant could be brought online at some point in the future should GM require additional capacity due to increased market demand. Janesville was placed on standby capacity in May 2009 and will remain in that status.

Canals, bridges, and railroads were built by European and Chinese immigrants, because you didn't have to invest any money up front--if they were killed, you went out and got another one with no loss to yourself. If your slave was killed, you were out hundreds of dollars (purchase price, food/clothing over the years, etc).

Obama took over GM and he DID NOTHING to reopen that plant in Janesville!! How can anyone on the left have the nerve to say that Obama could do nothing. It closed in 2009...he had his stimulus, he had the Senate and House, he had taken over GM and he DID NOTHING to honor those words in 2008. The nerve for liberals to pitch a fit over the date....ARE YOU KIDDING??? One person said....GM is a capitalist company that made the decision to close the plant....DUH!! Obama was running GM and owned it as the head of the US Government...he fired the CEO, kept certain pensions and then you tell me he could not say...I PROMISED THE PLANT in JANESVILLE back in 2008 that I would keep it open and that is my order??? Who at GM could have said no???? GM is no free market company it is a crony capitalism story of the worse kind. In a capitalist market it should have gone through normal bankruptcy and gone from there. Obama ordered and changed that....he did not lift one finger to re-open that plant!
It is called Government Motors for a reason...we still own 30 percent of the company...Obama could get off his golf cart tomorrow and call the CEO and tell him to open that plant or he is gone!!
Obama lied in 2008 to get the vote and Ryan nailed him on it last night!

Ace said the election is over in the last post. I hope.
Someone smarter tham me check this out and tell me why it won't matter. The trend goes back to at least 1992:
Analysis: Lagging faith in Romney is GOP challenge
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Mitt Romney may have a bigger problem than his low likability and favorability ratings. Even among voters who support him, many say he will lose to President Barack Obama.
Pollsters say that's a serious handicap that deserves more notice than it's receiving. Republican image-makers, focused on trying to make Romney seem warmer, might be wiser to try to make him more plausible — as a commander in chief and as a politician who can defeat a seasoned campaigner like Obama.
Americans like winners, pollsters say. The "who do you THINK will win" question has a strong — but certainly not infallible — track record of signaling where an election is going.
The numbers are startling. Poll after poll shows Obama and Romney roughly even when people are asked the "horse race" question: who do you support for president? But Romney trails Obama badly when the same people are asked: Who do you believe will win?

In the narrowest sense, they can say that Paul Ryan was not completely accurate, and parse every word and sentence that he said.
In the larger sense, Ryan was absolutely right about a great many things, and nothing that Obama's apologists in the Massive Bullshit Media can change that.
We are in economic trouble.
We have ridiculously high Federal budget deficits
We have too many people dependent on the Federal budget
The Obama Administration wants more people on the Federal payroll, by destroying private insurance companies, and getting Federal employees to do that job. More AFSCME and SEIU members. Magic. Democrat voters.
The 10 year reduction of 750 Billion from Medicare was a financial trick to get the OMB to score Obamacare better - less deficit making. Everybody winked that the Congress would go back and fix it (the "Doc fix"), yet there it stands. Obama, Pelosi and Reid are liars.
A lot of the structural problems with GM and Chrysler were not fixed after the bankruptcy, and will yet come back to screw up GM. Very shortly. The Obama Regime interference was an example of grotesque government over reach and the "takings" of the Senior Bond Holders was unconstitutional.
The whole Obama interference with GM and the following mismanagement of GM has been like dropping a bomb on a lot of GM factory towns in Michigan and Ohio. I can't speak for Michigan, but there are a lot of people in Ohio that really hate Obama because of this. They may be GM/UAW workers, but they aren't complete imbeciles.

1) you take 500 from your paycheck pay your visa 500 bucks use the visa to get 500 bucks cash and pay your mastercard...."I paid 1000 dollars in bills"
2) that "controlling cost by paying providers less" will result in ANYTHING other than a reduction in care provided
3) that tying the Obamacare cookie jar to medicare's cookie jar will double the amount of care provided at reduced cost.
Economics and MATH! are laws not suggestions.

Fact: Obama stated that it was his belief that if the government were there to support the plant, the plant would remain open for the next hundred years.
Fact: The plant is closed and has been closed for several years. Even if you want to debate the specific date the plant closed it is immaterial to the fact that the plant closed and has not reopened.
This leads to one of two conclusions. Either (A) Obama's government did not support and still does not support the plant, or (B) Obama's government was powerless to stop the closing and is powerless to reopen it.

At this point, I have no idea how honest anybody's polls are. They can come up with numbers and jigger the results with some "statistical" weighting fudge factor, and get the desired results. (Sounds like the "math" behind Global Warming science.)
I know that large segments of the Massive Bullshit Media are jiggering with poll numbers to present to propaganda line that Obama is "winning", "ahead", "more popular", etc. And they do it to influence the low motivation voters who just can't seem to make up their minds.
Harummph!
I am not voting for Mitt Romney because "I like Mitt". I am voting for him because Obama is a disaster as a President and executive, and is incapable of leading or making difficult decisions. He is a failure as President and if re-elected will be a disaster for the country. We are about to go over the edge financially (California, Illinois are just about there now), and his lack of leadership on the budget has led to "sequester".

I agree about poll reliability. I can use that as a fallback option to dismiss the AP article. This is the part that got my attention:
"A recent AP-GfK poll found Romney and Obama essentially tied on the question of who they would vote for if the election were held today. But 57 percent of voters say Obama will win in November, while 33 percent think he will lose."
The same poll that reflects the general consensous in the first question shows a huge disparity in the second. Weights and sampling bias can't explain away a 24-point gap. I'm not trying to be Davey Downer. I'm pumped. But want to keep my head on straight.

Every time I see some poll result that shows teh SCOAMF tied or barely ahead, I remember all the other polls that show him in negative territory WRT his handling of the economy, the overwhelming 3-to-1 majority that thinks the country is on the wrong track, and all the others that show JEF losing badly to Mitt.
IMO, Charles K is spot-on when he says that polls are used to drive the MFM news, and are not a true reflection of public opinion. Far too many won't tell pollsters much over the phone, due to the suspicion factor. I don't blame them.

Ayn Rand did not invent the American Dream, American Rugged Individualism, or Self Determination. She was drawn to America because of them.
Those aspects unique to Ayn Rand were never Paul Ryan's "roots". Ryan promotes compassionate conservatism (Social Services) that Rand eschewed. And given his model, I doubt that Ryan's mother was a Rand fan, or that the Ryan family worshiped "Self" as Rand philosophized.

Kind of the same theme, but different line. Not as easy to do a riff on "The Private Sector is Doing Fine" and make it fit on a banner. So, thanks Barry!

You know a good way to hit at Obama would be the math route something like - for the first time in the history of mathematical caculations Obama has made it possible for 2 x 4 = 0. As in a second term (2) of four years (4) will equal zero (0) in terms of job creation, a surplus budget, respectibility, or any other measure of success for this country.

That was an awful line. I know it plays to the school choice crowd, but that's short-sighted. Once the good kids are able to move to another school (most likely in the same zip code) there will be plenty others left to fail. Or, the bad students just follow the good and make the choice school shitty.
Liberals would LOVE to blame zip code. More fuel for them take control of schools from communities (zip codes) and states and nationalize it. It's not zip codes, it's parents.
