Pennsylvania: Two Point Obama Lead
— Ace

And Romney isn't even running ads there.

I guess Obama really isn't either.

That may change.

Two percentage points separate President Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney in a state poll conducted for the Tribune-Review, even though the campaigns largely are ignoring Pennsylvania and concentrating on other battlegrounds.

Obama polled 47 percent to Romney's 45 percent among likely Pennsylvania voters, with 6 percent of voters undecided and 44 days until Election Day, according to the survey by Susquehanna Polling & Research. The survey of 800 voters, conducted Sept. 18-20, has a margin of error of 3.46 percentage points.

...

Fifty-one percent of the stateÂ’s voters approve of ObamaÂ’s job performance.

43 If PA were really a two point race (or anything close to it), then you would also see Romney winning FL by a decent margin, and he would also be ahead in VA and OH. None of those things are happening. Funny to see the flop sweat begin among the Romney supporters as they see the battleground state polls worsen with each passing day. I'm going to have a lot of "I told you so's" to hand out on election night! BTW, at this point in 1980, Reagan lead Carter by about 3.5 pts in the average of all polls

Another poll out showing Obama up 8 in PA.

D+10 poll with 52% Democrats and virtually no Independents.....

Obama can barely crack 50% with a poll of 52% Dems and a D+10 advantage!

Gravis has an Ohio poll D+10 showing Obama only up 1.

108 Obama is NOT ahead in NC -- I live here, I volunteer here knocking on doors & phone banking for Romney. No way is NC "slipping" from Romney (and technically that framing isn't even correct -- it is Obama who is not "holding" NC). The only people who say that Obama is ahead in NC and/or that Romney is "slipping" in NC are merely delivering pro-Obama psy-ops.

124 It's September 24th. The national race is a dead heat. Obama is up +2 in Gallup, +3 (2.6 to be exact) in Politico/GW, and +1 in Rasmussen.

Romney is down 4-5 in swing states but they always lag behind national polls. (It's easier to weed out bounciness with a bigger net - think of it that way). State polls will start moving toward Romney in the next week.

By the first debate, Romney will be up 1-2 points. And then he will whoop Obama's ass, and unleash the Death Star ad campaign.

And it's Game On!

An open message to the trolls:

Your mission is to discourage us, and you are failing.
Conservatives will crawl over broken glass to vote Romney/Ryan in November, and R/R will win.
Obamacare will be repealed. This is only the start. Romney, Ryan, and the Republican presidents
that come after them will erase the deficit, balance the budget, reduce entitlement spending,
make us energy self-sufficient, pass right-to-work laws, and beef up our military.

You know how you felt watching events unfold in Wisconsin? The horrified, world-turned-upside-down
feeling as Walker was elected, Prosser defeated Kloppenburg, the recalls of state senators failed to get Democrats
back in the majority, and Walker beat the recall? Get used to that feeling, because you'll be feeling it
a lot over the next few decades as the blue-model welfare state is dismantled. Everything you hold dear will be thrown down and destroyed.

The people here that insult or ignore you? Get used to that too. As America kicks leftist dogma to the curb,
no one will want to hear from sorry, sewer-level representatives of a failed ideology, and you'll spend more
and more time alone in your parent's basement, with tears of frustration in your eyes at how increasingly difficult
it is to masturbate your miniscule, flaccid member to climax to the fading Obama poster on your wall.

Eventually, you will die, embittered and alone, your Marxist utopia never having come to pass.
You will be forgotten and unvisited except for
the occasional stray dog lifting its leg on your grave marker.

161 Breitbart had a story last week breaking down Iowa. The state broke down into thirds, or D/33, R/26 and I/33. If Independents are being won by 4-6 points, (I think higher), there are some Dems, Reagan Dems defecting, then it would make sense that Romney wins Iowa. Why would other swing states not break down in the same manner? Another way of looking at it is this, we see the Jewish vote slipping from OZero, Catholics are slipping from OZero, Romney has the middle class by 14%, Security Moms, and Coupon or Kitchen Table Moms, are with Romney. Then factor in the very real fact the Black vote is also not going to turn out more than 98% of the vote, and is either not going to vote Obama by staying at home, or will vote for Romney, there is a problem for Dear Leader. Voter enthusiasm, and voter registration is heavily favored for Republicans, and as some have said, what has changed since 2010 when we had historic landslides. I looked at the unskewed polls website, and even if you half the numbers just for the wishful thinking factor, Romney is still winning. There is a chance we have lost the country. I started thinking about what Romney said regarding the number of people receiving benefits from the federal government. Some of us have a tendency to view that as strictly being welfare, but we have student loans for our skulls full of much receiving, soon we hope, college degrees. Pondering voting for Romney, who may, or may not stop, or curtail student loans, and with the kids being so close to graduating, there is no way, no matter what, no matter how much pain it would be to the little dears, would I consider voting for Barak Hussein Obama. Other voters may want to continue whatever they receive from the federal government, but I cannot help but think that people in swing states realize where the country stands. I cannot help but think coal workers, and manufacturing workers in PA, and other swing states believe they can live a better life, no matter the pain of cuts in order to have a free country. We Americans may be many things, Takers versus Makers, welfare recipients, or student loan recipients, but we are not European socialists, and we sure as hell are not a bunch of Fascists. There is a lot of stupid out there, but I am going to believe somehow our unique, DNA Americana comes through for all of us in November.

I love the "We Are Hungry" parody. I think the "Healthy Hunger Free Act" was another one of those "we have to pass it to see what's in it pieces of legislation. It also once again proves that the Democrats really suck at the law of unintended consequences.

Hungry kids at school perform worse, not really helping their demographic get better educated now are they? Also, hungry kids come home ravenous and don't make smart meal choices at that point thereby ingesting more calories. Plus, when they swapped out the chocolate milk for only 2% suddenly a lot of kids who were getting their only dairy for the day in that chocolate milk (vitamin D, calcium anyone) stopped drinking any milk.

189 This is the second poll in one week in PA where the two are within the margin of error. The Susquehanna guys are very upfront about their methodology and state that they are using a combo of 2004 and 2008 partisan ID models, which is conservative. PA is completely Republican at the local level, and Obama is poison in Western PA (with the exception of downtown Pittsburgh) due to coal and tracking. Philly turnout will be down due to the likely upholding of the voter ID law (final decision on 10/2). This is coming down to Erie and Bucks county. PA just may surprise. If I'm R, I wait for the voter ID decision on 10/2. If is is upheld, I'd have Rove spend $5-10 million here. It's time for a shocker, perhaps. I live in Pittsburgh, and I can tell you that the usual Dem blue collar counties outside of Pittsburgh loathe O big time. Will it be enough this year?

Cook County Illinois need 500 election judges.  If you live in Cook County, are a registered Republican (voted republican in past primaries) and are willing to work on site at a polling place for the whole election day for $170.00,  go to www dot Electionjudges dot us to apply.

Sharon Meroni is fighting the Dem Machine and the Illinois GOP cocktail party ennuists.  She needs you by THIS THURSDAY, or all the unfilled election judge spots go to Dems as usual.  500 sounds like a shit-ton, but Ms. Meroni, a suburban Chicago mom has gotten farther in fighting against the ChicagoWay than anyone, and this can make a huge difference...maybe even history.  Be a part of it.

If you have questions about qualification, call  312-242-1818

D+6

In the 2008 election PA was a ~D+10 state for Obama.  In the 2010 elections, PA had a Governor and Senator up for election.

The Republican WON both of them handily:

I am very concerned. Virgil Goode, former VA Democrat turned Republican congressman, is running for President on the Constitution party. (Yes, Virgina, there really is a Constitution party.) Goode is an ardent gun rights advocate, a supporter of big tobacco, and a vocal oppenent of gay rights. So I'm concerned Goode will cost Romney both Virginia and North Carolina. If the GOP had nominated a real Socon like Huckabee (coff, coff) or Santorum (coff coff coff) or Rick Perry  (haruuuuumph), Obama would be so far behind that the Dems would have just given up by now. So, like I said, I am really very very very concerned. Also a little constipated.

I'm in north-central PA --a heavily Republican area, BTW. My TV stations come from Corning-Elmira and Binghamton, New York. That said, I've seen quite a few Obama ads on the tube. Mostly during football games or on USA. Whether these were local or national airings, I can't say. Still, Ads in PA and NEW YORK?

Something tells me this election will be a huge disappointment for Obama and the MSM syncophants.

Posted by: joated at September 24, 2012 06:35 PM (EdAif)

502 I'm not mad at the country-club elite types right now because they're the ones who got hoodwinked this time... they accidentally gave us a candidate who actually wants to win!

Romney has been a far better candidate than I was expecting. He doesn't "correct" supporters who describe Obama as "treasonous". He's not being overshadowed by his brilliant VP pick. He even makes fun of Obama, and lets his staff make fun of things like dog-eating. He wants to defeat Obama and be our President; after 2008, that actually means something.

He is so not McCain.

Posted by: Prothonotary Warbler at September 24, 2012 06:36 PM (RLZvP)

503 Proof positive that Oblame-oh's internal polls show him way behind Romney: He's been running TV ads in Illinois - ILLINOIS! - for weeks now. That is not the action of a candidate who has this election sewn up. Not by a long shot. A Sure Thing doesn't waste money in states he has in his pocket. He spends it in battleground states.

Posted by: Dick Nixon at September 24, 2012 07:21 PM (VrVBw)

506 So lemme see if I get this... Romney is down 1 or 2 points, nationally; the most reliable tracking polls confirm this on a daily basis. He's down 20 or more points in 3 of the most populous states in the country: New York, Illinois and California. And Obama's supposedly up by 5-10 points in all of the following battleground states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada, while also being down at least 10% in Massachusettes, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Connecticut. I'm sorry, those numbers are bullspit. Romeny would have to be winning by about 80/20 in the small Red States in order to be down only 1 or 2 points nationally. So either he's not down 1 or 2 nationally, or nearly all of these state polls are 99 44/100ths percent bullspit.

508 YOUR HAND_DANDY BOT DEBUNKING CHEATSHEET:

"He got healthcare reform passed" - Obamacare is a jobkiller that is hurting our economy and raising healthcare costs.

" the stimulus bill passed" - added a trillion to the debt but didnt work. more than $1 million in cost per job created, net result was negative.

" the auto industry rescue passed that saved hundreds of thousands of jobs" _ Laughable BS. It saved nothing but the fat union pensions, by taking $25 billion of taxpayer money and use it to shore that up, while ripping off Chrysler bondholders. Auto jobs depend on auto sales, and nothing Obama did increased final auto sales. OTOH, his overall economic mismanagement decreased it.

"Thirteen straight quarters of positive GDP growth" The weakest recovery in 75 years! Half the AVERAGE growth since WWII (inclusive of recessions). Whereas Reagan's recovery had 4.5% growth in 1984, we are suffering under a mere 1.5% GDP growth in recent quarter, and growth is projected to SLOW in 2nd half 2012 and 2013. It's getting worse!

" 30 straight months of positive employment growth"

'positive'? It should be 'pathetic'. It's pathetic that job growth is not exceeding the population growth. Average jobs gains are only about 120,000 per month, it needs to be almost 200,000 to exceed merely the population growth; we had months of 600,000 - 700,000 job gains under Reagan recovery. and now unemployment claims are trending UP. Unemployment still over 8%. And we have more long-term unemployed than every before in our history.

Obama's been a failure on jobs.

"housing prices stabilized and rising, DOW up 100%"
Credit the Fed for pumping trillions into the economy, pumping up Wall Street, but main street is still hurting due to Obama's bad policies.

"corporate profits at record highs, corporate cash on hand at record levels" All due to companies operating OVERSEAS and realizing they cannot repatriate it without paying high corporate income tax rates - so it is stranded.

", Iraq War ended" Yes, he drew down troops according to the overall plan and timetable that Bush laid out and which Obama originally opposed. But a collossal FUBAR by Obama led to NO Status of Forces Agreement, so our opportunity to secure and maintain the gains that cost much in blood and treasure are LOST as Iran moves in to become the power broker in Iraq.

" OBL gone forever, Khaddafi gone forever."

Al Qaeda is Alive, our ambassador is dead.

And Obama's Cairo speech and his claims are now a joke and his mideast policy a shambles.

Obama doesnt under economics, leadership, American values and 'peace through stength'.  Obama's cluelessness has hurt us at home and abroad.

People complain about Romney's 'specifics'. Well, the only specifics Obama is proposing are repeats of his failed policies of the last 4 years.  4 more years of Obama's failed policies will lead to disaster.

Posted by: Harry P Ness Reid at September 24, 2012 07:42 PM (WhCZZ)

509 What if Romney bought 30/45 second ads that just had him saying, "This election matters but it shouldn't drive you nuts. Here's 30 seconds of a sunrise with nice pastoral music. And vote for me." Then he shuts up for 30 seconds. Stupid or crazy stupid awesome? =========== My opinion: If he says the word "pastoral" it's beyond stupid. Otherwise it's just stupid.

513 I suspect PA and several other blue states will be closer than expected, but that doesn't mean it makes sense for Romney and his PACs to rush to spend a lot there.

If we have even a long shot at PA, which hasn't gone Republican since Bush the Elder's first run in 1988, we're winning in a landslide.

Posted by: Adjoran at September 24, 2012 08:06 PM (ZHQvg)

514 In Chester County, I've seen as many Hillary bumper stickers in the past week as I have Obama stickers.
Does that tell you something?
Oh, and while the better half and I were out with friends tonight, I saw a couple of Romney ads on Comcast SportsNet (the Philly sports channel).
---
There are things that are happening under the radar that lead me to believe that PA may actually be in play for a change. It's not gonna be easy, but it can be done.
---
One of the outshoots of tonight's socializing is two ex-Dems in Romney's corner now... our friends, who were the kind of congenital Democrats PA has in droves in the heavily Catholic areas (Philly, Pgh, Scranton), are now committed anti-Obots.
Anecdotal, to be sure, but it's gonna take a friendly ground game to git 'r' done.

517 Late to the party as usual. I've noticed something interesting about the PA races. I haven't seen any local Romney ads, and it appears that he's keeping his PA message, such as it is. in the coal areas of Western PA. I've seen the Clinton-Obama ad a few times, but just that one. But Tom Smith, the Republican running against Casey the Lesser for the US Senate, has been plastering the airwaves with ads. (I guess when your name is Tom Smith it helps to get as much exposure as possible). Rasmussen just released a poll showing Casey ahead by only 49-42...outside the MOE, but much closer than I expected. If Romney can somehow pull off a win in PA, he might be able to pull in this Smith guy with him. Casey doesn't really have anything going for him except for that pesky (D).

Meh, probably just wishcasting. But what the hell.
