Perfect Gaul: Obama Advises French Not To End Austerity Measures (???)

Austerity abroad, profligacy at home?

I can't wait for the French's response.

President Obama's spokesman warned the new socialist president-elect of France not to implement his campaign agenda of ending austerity measures, indicating that such a reversal could damage the world economy.
...
French President-Elect Francois Hollande called for an increase in government spending and taxes.

So France's new socialist President is looking for higher taxes and government spending -- which is Obama's plan for America. And he tells them they shouldn't do that, because it will damage the world economy?

I think Obama senses several interrelated dangers here.

If France crashes, it offers America a preview of where Obama's policies will take us, so he... doesn't want France to implement Obama's policies. He doesn't want that heads up. Not before the election.

In addition, of course, a second official recession would just about wrap things up for Romney.

The argument could be made there were many collapses in the 20th century beyond the three I listed.

A European collapse won't cause the continent and it's people to disappear. It will just be a major regression economically that will effect the rest of the glove.

Nope... GDP numbers are already fudged. If you take out the deficit Fed Gov Spending, and the Monetization from the Fed Res, which creates GDP movement without actualy producing anything??? We are still in the recession.

Remember, GDP is the measure of money movement... not of Productivity itself.. its like haveing a football game where you declare the winner by who moved the most yards (positive and negative), not on who crossed the Goal Line...

Nostalgia politics. Part of Putin's "charm" is that he's a throwback to the glory days of the Cold War, and saber-rattling is part of that.

Back in the olden days The Common Market and the European Economic Community were actually beneficial. They actually made trade between members easier.

Then some idiots thought they could go one step better by adopting a single currency. But along with that came a set of rules about the size of the U.S. tax code. For instance, selling things traditionally sold in english units was banned -- everything had to be sold in metric units. Then there were the rules about what you called things. Bordeaux wine, for example, had to be made in Bordeaux. It didn't matter if you used grapes grown in the Bordeaux region, if it wasn't made in Bordeaux it couldn't me marketed as a Bordeaux wine. Then there were other rules about how foods were to be made. They destroyed many small, traditional English cheese makers, leaving only the the large corporations viable.

Central planning does not mix with any market based trading system. You would've thought the Europeans might have noticed it from watching their USSR neighbors. But no -- they had to go full retard mode.

The Eurozone was built to fail by a set of clueless architects.
