They don't have a GM; they have an owner who sticks his dick into every decision.

Fire Jones, and the Cowboys will return to glory.

That's the point.  Jerry is the GM.

Jerry the Owner is great.  Jerry the Celebrity is laughable.  Jerry the GM is spending too much time being Jerry the Owner and Jerry the Celebrity.

16 I love Tony Romo. The Cowfags fans and owner stick by him even though he's a slightly better version of Jay Cutler, and he always choked in critical games and loses. I hope he gets signed to a multi year deal this off season for millions.

It's nice Mitt loved his dad and all but let's not go overboard withthe hero worship. He was a big govt Rockefeller Republican. Glad he was a goid dad but not my first choice for Mitt's political eole model.

23 I didn't at this year. But my fool-proof system earned me second place last year literally without thinking about it. Call my hotline right now for the lead-pipe lock of the week, guaranteed to beat the Vegas oddsmakers. Anyway, I just received a cold solicitation call to come work as an insurance salesman for a company I have never heard of. That was weird, but even weirder was the guy who called me had an accent I can't identify, and I'm really good at identifying accents. He kind of sounded like he was talking while holding his nose closed, but there was an additional level of accent there too. It was almost unintelligible. Weird, man. I feel like I may have been pranked.

OT

I think that when future historians look back at this time (politically) there will be two big stories. One is that the middle class rose up spontaneously without any kind of organization, took to the streets, and dominated the election in '10 and '12, completely changing the political dynamic of the country. The other story is that both political parties and the media tried to pretend it wasn't happening.

37 I think the underclass in this country have reached untermenschen status--they are so averse to work, so incapable of self-improvement, and so lacking in critical thinking ability that they can no longer be considered sentient humans. They breed, they consume, they text, yet produce nothing of value....and they have exceeded in dragging the middle class down into their hellish oblivion.

56 They breed, they consume, they text, yet produce nothing of value....and they have exceeded in dragging the middle class down into their hellish oblivion.

I noted this in the last thread. In your traditional slave or serf society, the lower classes labor for the upper classes to live...not necessarily a life of total leisure (they do science and art and stuff), but they know they get to eat and stay warm and clothed without having to sweat for it.

Now the upper classes labor so the lower classes can live...not necessarily a life of total leisure--men can still make money dealing or pimping, women have to make babies, some states make you pretend to be looking for work or going to school--but they know they get to eat and stay warm and clothed and entertained without having to sweat for it.

Can't even make an Eloi/Morlock analogy, since we're not allowed to use them for food.

Anybody here making phone calls for Republican candidates?

I did it yesterday and it's pretty cool. Some will hang up, some will answer your questions, and some will want to keep you on the line talking about America.

We called nothing but Democrats yesterday, feeling around for any who might might be soft enough on Obama to be worth a follow up on election day (we did the same for down ballot races too.)

In my area volunteers can stop by anytime from 9a to 9pm. On Saturdays I knock on doors. It's suprising how patient most people are. Give it a shot, it's a good outlet and it really helps.

I also analyze the new NPR poll.

Romney's lead is widening in the average today, jumping almost a point from yesterday as some bad polls drop out and good polls come in.

118 Completely O/T.  This only just occurred to me.  Osama bin Laden was killed and the President immediately jumped on TV to let us know about it.  He didn't care much about intel that may have been compromised by the release of information.  Then, they gave movie producers access to sensitive material in order to extoll his virtue and wisdom in killing such a bad guy.  Now, the same administration is reluctant to release information in the "on-going investigation" of the (newly admitted) terrorist attack that killed Amb. Stevens because doing so could jeopardize said investigation.  I think this damns our media even more so than the administration.  Is anyone even asking questions?

"...they gave movie producers access to sensitive material in order to extoll his virtue and wisdom in killing such a bad guy. Now, the same administration is reluctant to release information in the "on-going investigation" of the (newly admitted) terrorist attack that killed Amb. Stevens.."

Good point.  Situation normal:  media biased.

Al Qaeda became more ideological movement and global long before the latest drone campaigns in Yemen and Pakistan. Claiming it was pretty much defeated was a huge mistake. When northern Mali fell to al Qaeda earlier this year, an area the size of Texas governed by al Qaeda linked groups, the Obama Adminstration was in full campaign mode talking about the end of al Qaeda. No White House media asked a single question about Mali that I am aware of.

When I heard Bin Laden was dead my first thought was it would lead to more terror in retaliation. Not that fighting back creates terrorism, just focuses the jihadi horde on the latest pretext. So long as Islamic clerics are preaching violent jihad there will be takers who seek out the front lines.

HuffPo reports: "Romney's team will have knocked on one million doors by the end of the week and it has made three million phone calls since May - more than in any other swing state, Romney officials said. An early voting event for the former Massachusetts governor on Tuesday in downtown Cincinnati drew roughly 45 supporters, among them was John McHugh, a 60-year-old former auto worker." Solid blue. 161 Jay Cost on polls (circa 9/26, before O's post-DNC bump had disappeared): Final thought: As I mentioned earlier, a big “tell” here is that Obama cannot build any kind of lead among independent voters. That suggests to me that his advantage is built entirely on Democratic enthusiasm, which right now is above its historical trends and clearly on a post-DNC bump. Nobody in the postwar era has won the presidency by carrying less than 49 percent of independents, and Obama is quite a ways below that mark, even if some polls show him at or above 50 percent nationwide and in the key swing states. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/morning-jay-are-polls-tilted-toward-obama_653067.html?nopager=1
