— Ace Bumped for Tebow Time.

In case you think I'm biased by posting the Denver pic, I'll post the...
Okay I can't do it. I'm warning you, don't click on this picture of a Pittsburgh wannabe cheerleader. She's not svelte. Let's just say she's unscarred by the horror of anexoria and leave it at that.

Grantland Rice, the great sportswriter once said, 'It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.' Well Grantland Rice can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
—Gene Autry
I have never had much sympathy for the point of view, "it isn't whether you win or lose that counts, but how you play the game."

Winning isn't the only thing; it's everything.

from prior thread:
@282 : Just tell your friend you will be texting "Hist!" (Historic!) every time Tebow completes a pass. And tell him if Sexual Offender completes less than 3 passes to every one of Tebow's, your friend has to do 25 pushups in 35 seconds. And he has to produce video proof.

How could forget Rainbow Man who attended many NFL events in the 70's and 80's and was frequently on television waving his arms and holding up signs?

That seems a bit harsh. How about just a weekend with the Steeler's cheerleader and then he'll kill himself?
Can both teams lose? Is there anyway they can get Bucky Elway down on the field and break his leg, then shoot him? He is a bit of a horsey boy.

No, I think it's that if the team that wins the coin toss hits a FG, the other side gets a chance to get a TD to win. If the first team gets a TD, then that team wins.
I think.

I love to see a troll hating on someone who is successful--just because he dares to live a life that is different from the troll's. Nevermind that, as was pointed out, Tebow does more for charity than 99% of the population at large, and probably more than 99% of rich people as well.

Everyone was in a meh state of mind at best. The US felt like it was on the decline, we had an asshole president who kept telling us what losers we were, the economy was in the tank, and the press actually invented a misery index.
Then the US Hockey Team started to win. And win. And that game against the Soviets had everyone glued to the tube. And when they won, with the shouts of "USA! USA!" it suddenly seemed that we were back, and that the Carter Years were nothing but a bad dream. And that is when I think voters started to look at Reagan and decided "Enough of this crap. Let's have a president who likes the country!"
And that is what happened.
So Tebow, in his faith and humility, reminds us that people CAN overcome bad things, with a bit of faith and character. And people will remember this and think, "We do not need any more of this Obama crap."
Hope Denver makes it to the Super Bowl. We need him here to counteract Madonna and Alec Baldwin.

Excuses for the Steelers? They played bad defense at times, and especially on the last play of the game when their weak safety cheated and ran up to the line to support an expected run. There was no one back in his lane and Tebow hit his wideout in stride.
What a bunch of crybabies. Say what you will about Tebow, he played a pretty good game, made some big pass plays, etc. If the Steelers were so superior they should have beaten the Broncos easily.

The game was tape delayed, but the announcers had a huge crowd behind them chanting "U. S. A! U. S. A!" They let on that something had happened.
The goalie, Jim Craig, blocked an incredible number of shots on goal in the last few minutes to save the win. Like an impenetrable force field in a hailstorm. Unbelievable.
That game just guaranteed the USA a medal. They had to beat an even more formidable Finland team to win the gold. Which they did.

I don't normally go from one ESPN to another to see how those poor talking jocks are taking the end of a game, but this was worthwhile. On BOTH channels, there was obvious shock that the Broncos won and Tebow, who should not be playing in the NFL, did so well. I mean, SHOCK to the point of mute yammer-mouths.
I love this and hope they go all the way to the Super Bowl vs Giants (I love Mannings as well, this is in my DNA from sitting at my Daddy's knee, so I would not really care who won).
Tebow is the real deal, as far as being a good guy; and good guys need to win sometimes against all odds (see: ABO vs Obama 2012 or David vs Goliath).
Miss Marple, yep, the USA winning vs Russia in the 1980 hockey game was quite possibly the most exciting tv sports show, ever. Doubt that can be repeated in my lifetime, but Timmy might do it. I had lost my voice watching that Olympic game,as well as most of my mind. It was great. Tonight, hearing the crowd yell for Thomas, then the increased roar after he scored was very cool, as was his slapping off the Steeler defensive guys like a mosquito. The stupido announcers said Thomas was from "Central Florida." I looked him up and he is a Georgia boy from Georgia Tech.

They also pointed out that the Denver guy who drafted both Tim Tebow and Demaryius Thomas is now with the Patriots. His first game with them will be next week when they play Denver, with Tebow and Thomas.
Whoever said earlier that the Denver-Pittsburgh game is the best one we'll see in the playoffs is echoing something I said to my brother before the OverTime even started.

This many:
In 2010, a new rule for the next NCAA football season, dubbed "The Tebow Rule" by media because it would have affected him, banned messages on eye paint. During his college football career, Tebow frequently wore references to biblical verses on his eye black. In the 2009 BCS Championship Game, he wore John 3:16 on his eye black and the verse became the highest-ranked Google search term over the next 24 hours, generating over 90 million searches. Additionally, later, when Tebow switched to another verse, there were 3.43 million searches of "Tim Tebow" and "Proverbs 3:5-6" together. Tebow stated of the searches "It just goes to show you the influence and the platform that you have as a student-athlete and as a quarterback at Florida".

Fine, you heretic. We'll just have our own riot. Don't worry, though, you're still invited to St. Jude's Bazaar come August. Potato Pancakes. Halushki, Pierogi, Funnel Cakes, Kielbasa, Spaghetti and Chicken dinners, Clams and keg after keg of beer. Oh, and bingo for the seniors and a dunking tank for the kids - and the clergy.
And no one will make you smoke or drink. Eating, however, is a must.

True story. I was invited to a church event with my catholic friend when I was about 10. I had my eyes opened that night. I was shocked. Methodists just aren't used to such things. Church basement bingo. Priests were running around drinking beer and the swearing was epic. Cigarette smoke was thick as most everyone over the age of 13 was smoking. Like I said.... I was in shock. I went home and told my mother immediately after leaving. I think she burned my clothes as they were unsalvagable with "bar" smells.

IIRC, it was there already, just due to the fact that he and his whole family are unabashed Christians. That did rachet up teh h8, tho'.
There's a young lady at the heart clinic that I go to whose family is friends with the Tebow family. She says they're the real deal and the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.
