We so dumb sometimes I can't stand us.

Dr. Spank,
"Final Score :
Texans : 70
Bengals : -2"
Seriously? The Texans haven't blown out anyone since Matt Schaub went down and that isn't likely to change today. Also never underestimate Gary Kubiak's ability to poorly prepare a team.

What do you recommend?
We'll only be there a couple of days (plus two days for his conference at some hotel there). We tend to like B&Bs or small inns. Not looking to splurge a lot on this trip. I would tend to not go condo since it'll be a short trip (and I won't feel like cooking; if it were for 5-7 days, that'd be a different thing).
We've been to Naples (also for a conference) and I was not super-impressed. It was sort of soul-less.
So the idea that Cape Coral might be a quaint town is appealing, but if you have a better recommendation, I'm all ear.

The last two debates (especially the last one) were the highest rated and he did well, but the opponents' supporters still drum on about the first three. So it is what it is. And, of course, the debate is broadcast so it's not about NH.

We had a bio prof who was one of the world's foremost authorities on snails.
His office was full of small aquariums full of snails. Most of them were cracked -- he'd repair them with some sealant and glass patch on their inside. And there were always snail escapees -- when you walked into his office the odds were 50/50 you would hear a crunch.
He wore old fashioned high top sneakers laced only at the top, because he claimed the optimum place to incubate snail eggs was between his toes.
He wore a filthy white lab coat to class and would erase the blackboard by grabbing the end of his sleeve and using his forearm as the eraser. He also wore busted up black plastic rimmed glasses repaired with various colored pieces of electrical tape. A piece of electric wire was taped to the arms so he could hang them around his neck.
A friend of mine was desperate to talk to him and couldn't make his office hours, so the prof invited him to come over to his house. When he got there there was a stripped down V-8 engine on bedsheets in the middle of his living room floor. He had a pointer and was lecturing his kids on the workings of an internal combustion engine.
Yeah -- he was kind of eccentric.
I could even tell you more strange stories about him.

I have tried to do those when I fill in. Finding "tasteful" stuff is hard. I've tried. Plus a lot of cheerleaders are kind of not all that cute when you see a close up.

So hey - If ObamaCare is so amazing, why all the waivers? Oh yeah - the rest of us get to pay for it, while the unions get a free pass.
This is why Colorado said NO thanks to tax hikes for "education". [the measure went down with over 65% voting against it] We know damn well the taxes do not end up helping the kids in the classroom. The taxes go straight to Teachers Unions, Bloated Union Pensions, Union Bosses and ultimately the DEMOCRAT PARTY.
In fact that is what modern tax hikes are: Money stolen from the tax payer and diverted into democrat coffers, democrat crony coffers, and are ultimately money wasted.

And in the meantime watched Faux News while eating. The "big story" this morning and still going on now is whining about that poor little scrunt who was "accidentally" deported and has been now joyously returned to her family.
1. She ran away from her home (and seeing her ugly mother I can see why)
2. She got caught shoplifting.
3. She gave a phony "Hispanic" name to the police. Turns out it was someone already on the deport list.
4. She was deported and never told police or ice real name.
She was not deported accidentally. She was deported because she was stupid. She thought she was in CA instead of TX and all that Street" learning about "free get out of jail for illegals" is for CA, not TX.
Now odds are her mother will sue the feds who will roll over and create another "pigford" boondoggle.

Nah! The only thing that rang true were the escaping snails. For me (as an undergrad) it was newts. Yes, newts. Slippery little suckers. I hypophysectomized 110 of them for senior project. That involves sedating them (in a bath of some sort of sedative) and then removing their pituitaries (accessed via the roof of their mouths). Then I chopped off their legs.
If god is a newt, I'm screwed.
I moved to molecules after that. Much simpler.

I don't blame the QB, they let Foster waltz into the endzone on that last touchdown.
That was a nice stiffarm on that run. I cut Dalton some slack, seeing as how it's his first playoff game and all.

Your doctor will understand. Take them with food, like the label says. And drink lots of water. As long as you start taking less of them in a couple of days, you won't get "in trouble." Your doctor will not want you to be in too much pain, although some is to be expected.

Unfortunately, a group of alumni has formed to go after the Board of Trustees. It's gonna get ugly.
Alumni have very little pull in those things. Nor should they, especially at a state school.

Penn State is a not a state school, although it does receive state funding. It's a weird setup. And the Penn State alumni include some very rich, powerful and influential people. I don't think they'll be able to unseat any trustees, but they do have the power to make this media disaster much worse than it already is. It'll be interesting (and probably painful) to watch.

I know they claim that in order to avoid releasing certain info, but it is a Land Grant school under the Morrill Act and the governor sits ex officio on the BoT which also includes several other government officials.

Alumni are like faculty -- mostly good at obstructing what the institution tries to do and doing damage.
PSU does have some BoT members who are elected by alumni, so I suppose they could go after them, but in my experience alumni who are donors act like donors, not like alumni. (In other words: not like spoiled brats.) So it will be interesting to see how the alumni BoT members behave.
The alumni that drive me nuts are the ones that have this sense of entitlement that by virtue of having attended the university 10, 20, or 30 years ago they somehow own it. They shoot their mouths off, damaging the university and forgetting that the folks they are really hurting are the current students.
There's some conservative blog, can't remember which one but I think there are a lot of lawyers at it, that has been waging this battle against Dartmouth for several years. All they're accomplishing is hurting the school they claim to love. It's really profoundly stupid.

Still my favorite
