— DrewM If this poll is right, it's Panic Time At The Obama Disco.
Two-thirds of likely voters say the weak economy is WashingtonÂ’s fault, and more blame President Obama than anybody else, according to a new poll for The Hill.It found that 66 percent believe paltry job growth and slow economic recovery is the result of bad policy. Thirty-four percent say Obama is the most to blame, followed by 23 percent who say Congress is the culprit. Twenty percent point the finger at Wall Street, and 18 percent cite former President George W. Bush.
...
Obama’s campaign, under the slogan “Forward,” has sought to steer voter attention less toward current and past economic performance and more toward questions about Republican Mitt Romney’s work in the private sector economy. It has launched attacks on the challenger’s role as head of the private equity firm Bain Capital, casting him as a jobs “outsourcer” whose firm shipped thousands of U.S. positions overseas.
The Hill Poll, however, shows the extent to which voters hold Obama responsible for the economy and reveals his vulnerability should the election become primarily a referendum on his economic management.
Obama, for obvious reasons, wants the election to be a choice between him and Romney, not a referendum on his administrations record to date. Clearly that's not happening.
Of course, if it comes to a choice election, Romney is likely ok with that too.
By more than 2-1, 63%-29%, those surveyed say Romney's background in business, including his tenure at the private equity firm Bain Capital, would cause him to make good decisions, not bad ones, in dealing with the nation's economic problems over the next four years. The findings raise questions about Obama's strategy of targeting Bain's record in outsourcing jobs and hammering Romney for refusing to commit to releasing more than two years of his tax returns. Instead, Americans seem focused on the economy, where disappointment with the fragile recovery and the 8.2% unemployment rate are costing the president.
This is getting ugly for Obama in a hurry (and beautiful for Romney). Of course, it's just the end of July, so no celebrating yet.

The Dems created this monster.
It was the Democrats who have worked so hard to establish the meme...that "it's the President's Fault"....when the economy goes bad.
Now, some of them are trying to roll it back, and say...."Well, the president really doesn't have much to do with the economy".
Too late.
At least, for this election cycle.

I love, btw, that the Obama admin has decided it really DOES have to try to appeal to the working class white vote, but not to win their vote. No no, they want to make working class whites SO MISERABLE with the prospect of Romney as President that they won't turn out to vote in November. Because assumedly the Obama campaign thinks that the working class whites who have been loudly demeaned and openly ignored by the Dems in general and Obama in particular are going to say, "Yeah, well, it's better than having some MORMON in the Oval Office."
Really, that's genius campaign strategy, guys. Seriously. Run with that.

The Associated Press, July 23 (thanks to Bill):
KABUL, Afghanistan—Three civilian police training advisers, two American and one British, were killed over the weekend by an Afghan policeman at a training academy in western Afghanistan, Afghan officials and a NATO official said on Monday.
In a separate incident, the NATO official said two service members with the U.S.-led coalition were wounded on Monday when an Afghan soldier opened fire on them in northern Afghanistan. No other details have been disclosed about that shooting....

This would be in holding with my theory that Obama is, in fact, an alien, spawned in the early 60's and then "placed" in Hawaii because it was a brand new, weird ass state with people who looked different from most folks on the mainland. That way it would be easy for his "otherness" to be dismissed as, "Oh, he's just from Hawaii. And his mother was a slut. But mostly Hawaii." Then, just to make ABSOLUTELY sure his strange, alien otherness was explicable in some earthly context, they got his "mother" to take young Barry around to every third world shithole on the planet, thus guaranteeing he'd be a fucked up mess by the time he grew up.
His alien overlords implanted a tracking and control chip in Obama's skull when he was still a baby spawn (hence the Frankenstein scar on his scalp), and they use it to control his actions, weakening the global power of the United States (the only country strong enough to defeat their advanced technology), thus paving the way for their eventual invasion.
Crazy you say? Well I'm sticking to it until Obama gives us something else to believe. We know so little about him and his history that I think my mini-biography makes about as much sense as anything.

Barring major (much bigger than the likes of Fast and Furious) scandal or life threatening health issues, there's practically zero chance Obama would step aside to let another candidate run.
He's a narcissist. Narcissists don't "take one for the team".

The ingredients are all mixed in:
1. Pass a massive union pay-off that is sold as a stimulus for shovel-ready projects to avoid increases in unemployment.
2. Pass a partisan top-down healthcare bill that has little popular support.
3. Continue to blame your predecessor, the oppossing party, the environment and other events for all your failures, but accept personal heroic responsibility for your one success.
4. Show your true collectivist colors by insulting every hard-working american who has ever built a business.
5. Preside over an economy that is at best stagnate.
The cake for Obama's defeat is in the oven, people are finally smelling the aroma - its starting to smell pretty good. There is just no way for Obama to avoid a huge loss in November. And it isn't because he wasn't prepared, it isn't because events conspired against him, it isn't because the GOP thrwarted him .... its because his ideology is anti to the American spirit. His way of governing is not the way we want to be governed. His ideology is not the ideology that made America great. Obama's America is not a city upon a hill. But to us, the voters, that is the America we want and expect. We will vote him out. He had an opportunity to lead, but he couldn't because his ideology prevented him. Eventually it is all about the message. His message is being rejected.

Whycome? I can understand your scepticism, but despite teh SCOAMF's Immaculation in '08, we're not a nation of drooling imbeciles yet. Too much bad shit has happened since then. People have a good memory about things like losing their jobs, their homes and their future. They can also see right through the bullshit that's being foisted on them by the MFM.
Now, granted, if things were actually getting better, I'd be more apprehensive that the JEF could get reelected. As things stand today, I can't see that happening. Take all the other polls that show O's handling of the economy in the negative: that's what they all show. Now compare that to the bullshit polls that show SCOAMF leading. Tell me you don't smell something.

But last night I went on, and tried to pull up ASHG and he whole puter went to shit. Any key I hit made the text get smaller and smaller and smaller. Was no bringing up to larger text I could half-way read. So, yeah, i've got some friggin' around with it to figure out what I have to fix.

(NY Slimes) - No one can accuse the presidential campaign of ignoring the American economy or the plight of the middle class. Yet the scale and the complexity of the problem are typically lost amid the charged back-and-forth between President Obama and Mitt Romney.
For the first time since the Great Depression, middle-class families have been losing ground for more than a decade. They, and the poor, have struggled particularly badly since the financial crisis led to a global recession in 2008. The idea that living standards inevitably improve from one generation to the next is under threat. Many of the bedrock assumptions of American culture -- about work, progress, fairness and optimism -- are being shaken. Arguably no question is more central to the country's global standing than whether the economy will perform better in the future than it has in the recent past.
The MFM has been bleating that things that better than you think, now recently, there are stories like this. Since I don't trust them, I wonder what their motive is

Ha! Well said. We just have to fight this out to the last day, assuming we could lose. There will be no opportunity for coasting. Then the election results will be what they will be, and that's it. HOWEVER - I do think polling data is useful as a guide to what works over what doesn't. When you launch an attack you want to follow up with recon to see if it was effective. Polls can help serve that purpose.

My formula for determining the outcome in November is a complicated one, employing polls, personal conversations with friends, tea leaves and the current phase of the moon. This is very similar to how I compute my golf score.
Despite my confidence that this will be a mild blowout, I'm not acting that way. I intend to do everything I can to persuade everyone I talk to to pull the lever for Mitt, or at least against teh SCOAMF. How about this. How about the guy's been having trouble sleeping since he murdered a dozen people and wounded dozens more, some of them still in critical condition. Maybe he's been hearing the chants for his death from his fellow county inmates, who don't take kindly to child-killers. Maybe he's been deprived of his daily dosage of Mountain Dew and Red Bull. Who the hell knows? I'm more interested in the fact that he's an asshole who killed good people for no reason whatsoever, except perhaps his own desire for notoriety. That whole element of the story confused me from the start. The story went that the mother woke up with no knowledge of the events in CO, then somehow someone from some news place called her up and she told them "you've got the right person?" How would the news know to call her when we didn't even get the guy's name until the early afternoon? If it was the police who called her, then did someone from the police leak that information to the press? If they'd leak that, why not just leak the guy's name? I mean, WTF? The whole timeline seemed incredibly screwy to me.

I mean, I'm sure the focus-grouped the hell out of it and got positive feedback but--as usual--they are ignoring reality.
$100 million on that and other ads and? Nothing.
Powerline has been hitting this pretty well: The only thing keeping the JEF afloat was his personal popularity. Attack ads--no matter how legitimate--always reflect negatively to some degree back on the attacker. That's why you rarely see the guy leading in the polls attack--they talk about the positives of their vision. (See, JEF circa 200
And that is why we are seeing these poll results: The JEF traded his personal popularity for some magic beans.
What if all the voters are taking away from these ads is: 1) "I don't get a positive feeling seeing the President attacking someone" and 2) "At least Romney knows how to run a business and--good or bad--we sure could use someone who know that."
Which leads them to say that Romney is better able to handle the economy.
Remember: Every election against an incumbent has two questions on the ballot, 1) Should this guy be replaced and 2) Is the other guy able to do the job?
The JEF already conceded #1 as the whole point of his attack ads was to scare the voters away from Romney as not only unable to do the job, but as dangerous, aloof and out-of-touch.
He failed.
Seems the voters have already answered 1 and now, 2 with "Yes."

So how do you feel about Obama trying to blame someone else for the sorry state of the economy?
And what does that say about Obama's character?

A prosecutor-pundit on Cavuto just made the point....
That for Murder Boy to get off on an 'insanity' plea, he will have to show the point in his life that he 'became' insane.
He'd been planning it for months.
Was he insane when he made all those purchases?
Was he insane when he bought all that ammo?
Was he insane when he rigged out his apartment to explode?
He said that it looks like it's going to be a really tough thing to do....to prove an 'insanity' plea.
Good.
I hope so.

=============
Except none of those are on the ballot.
Right, you could say those are stand-ins for "Republicans" but, the only problem there is the congressional preference poll (I believe) has the GOP preferred there.
So, we have an option that has added all those up as GOP stand-ins--and the GOP wins.
What you should take away is, even with 100% of the news coverage blaming all the economic problems on those three, the JEF has never had this high of a percentage blaming him.
And it is only going to get worse.
Despite the JEF throwing $100 million of haymakers, hooks and jabs, Romney dodged them and countered with some serious body blows that has the JEF unable to breathe in the corner.

Well yeah. I mean if you're such a loon you can't tell that killing people is wrong, then you are a particular candidate for being removed from this world.

I had a 50/50 shot.
And yeah, I kind of wish I'd have waited for that phone. But I guess with the speed of upgrades, that's the reaction to any tech you buy.

Actions have consequences, bitch. That doesn't mean you take up arms and go terrorize a city by murdering it's citizens. Dammit I hate people.

Excuse me? I was refuting Brians statement about being "forclosed" on. WTF?
And, no, you don't take up arms and go terrifying a city because of such.
Lets hope the good Lord or whatever folks believe in will get a good grip on people who jump to conclusions!
Bitch? Really? phew.

Well, I wasn't meaning you, so sorry about that. I was saying bitch to the killer due the fact that the douchebag was losing his apartment because HE chose to drop the classes that made him eligible for the apartment.
I meant no insult your way....

Pretty sure Sponge was referring to the homicidal drop-out, although it's not 100% percent clear due to the wonders of English.
If his apartment was from the university I'm surprised they gave him as long as they did. We had to be out either the day of or next day after when John graduated.

If you are talking about 'in term succession" due to a death in office then the man is Tyler, after Wm Henry Harrison died in 1840.

However, those that have done evil but are unable to recognize right from wrong aren't really (or at least functionally) human and therefore should be executed promptly and without remorse.

Thank you Sponge, and Polliwogett. I misunderstood, and apologies as well. Sometimes, on here, it's hard to grasp and understand what is being said to you directly, or to others.
Thank You for the clarification.

I don't want to be a "Debbie Downer", or anything, but I just can't salivate over the economic reality - and the public become aware of it's source - any more. People KNOW that this guy is a complete failure, as far as helping the economy - and they JUST DON'T CARE.
Maybe it's the media hype in his corner, maybe it's the phoney "he's black" thing, maybe it's the "likability". I dunno. Maybe it's just that the blacks and foolhardy youngsters will vote for him, regardless, even though THEY are the ones being hurt the most. I could easily see both groups admitting that he isn't helping - or is even hurting - the economy, and still vote for him anyway.
