Polls Show Ohio As a Toss-Up
— Ace

CAC writes:

PPP has it now Romney +1 37-36, leading amongst those who decided in last few days. Numbers currently only on twitter (@ppppolls) but should be up on their main site soon.

Larry Sabato, I think correctly, pegged Romney carrying 6-7 states on Super Tuesday.

But Rasmussen has Santorum +1. ARG has Romney +7, and Qunnippiac has it Romney +3.

Of course that is current sentiment. But people have been casting early ballots for weeks.

Among such voters, a Suffolk poll says that Santorum has a seventeen point lead.

According to the survey, 13% of likely voters have already cast their vote. A seventeen-point advantage could be decisive, especially if turnout drops off tomorrow and that percentage of early voting ends up being larger than 13%.

A Marist poll has Romney up 3 among early voters. Which I think is wrong. It makes a lot more sense that Santorum would be.

In any event, the smaller the subgroup you're looking at, the higher the Margin of Error.

6 I think OH will be just about what they figure, a 50-50 split.  GA will go full Noot.

What I am more anxious about seeing is turnout. I expect OH to be high, maybe not so in the others.

If turnout remains low it does not bode well for down the road.

I don't know. Just a week ago, I think, Santorum was up by 7 here.

There haven't been a whole lot of Santorum ads (or maybe they weren't interesting enough to remember) but there have been tons of Romney ads and a bunch of not-Gingrich (Winning Our Future) ads that are kind of funny.

Just based on what I hear, at least in Central Ohio, I'm guessing Santorum will win.

17 And who could miss that all important Fox News Latino poll which shows "Latinos" going for Obama 6-1.  Not one iota of data on the poll at all.

Are they mainly sampling SW latinos of the Mexican variety or have they mixed it evenly with the South FL Cuban variety? Because experience has show the SW Mexican variety are pure Democrat gimme voters.

In addition, how many of these sampled were illegals or former illegals who were amnestied in previous crap actions?  Of course they would be for the DREAM act and amnesty where as citizens who went through the full process to obtain citizenship would not be.

But all in all, one wonders what ax Fox is grinding with this poll, other than the fact that they have always been in the amnesty camp.

43 I have long debated with myself the smartest way to handle bullying.  In this case I refer to the way the left and its media bully conservatives.  The dynamic can apply to everything from healthcare to gun rights legislation.

There are a few schools of thought

-only pick fights you can win, losing a fight makes you look weaker
-surrender to a lesser bully to take on a bigger bully
-make them earn every inch no matter the conflict

I am now quite convinced the "make them fight and bleed for every inch" no matter the situation or how right or wrong you are.  I came to this conclusion watching the left hand us our ass on an issue after issue where they are totally out of the mainstream, lying, and against accepted principles.  How could they get dealt a pair of two's but still take us on?  Simple they ignored everything we said and just started accusing us of hyperbole with a vague sob story on top.

Breitbart taught me in politics even the greatest defense is no substitute for even a crappy offense.  We need to start putting an accusation and a face out there one after another.  Our current system is we just dump the whole issue at once.  Breitbart also tought us to break the issue down to one headline/face a day and push that.  Next day while they are trying to research or whatever we are already ramping up the next accusations.  This certainly could be exploited to ill intent, as they have thoroughly proved,  but our current situation is such that they are up to so much corruption and malfeasance I assure you, we can fully truthfully accuse them of 365 things per year.

85 8 How does Ohio award delegates?

> The delegate math: In Ohio, most of the delegates (4 are awarded winner-take-all by Congressional district. Note, however, that Rick Santorum does not have not have full delegate slates in some districts and will not be eligible to win them there. Another 15 delegates will be awarded proportionately among candidates winning at least 20 percent of the vote statewide — unless one candidate gets an outright majority, in which case he wins all 15. Finally, Ohio’s 3 super delegates are unbound by the results of the primary.

I believe you. I really think the MSM is doing their dirty work to cover up voter disgust with the Obama Administration and trying their best to paint a glowing picture towards Obama. There are way too many people mad everywhere in the country regarding the economy, people being out of the workforce for too long and not counted anymore, food inflation, gas prices, COLA, etc. And yet the Marxist in Chief wants to transform the country radically with his cabinet willing to do so as well. The energy secretary doesn't care if gas is 5, 6, 7 or even 15 dollars a gallon, he wants people off gas right now.

Yes, I'm in Fulton County, which hasn't voted for a democrat since John Kennedy, and before that was sometime in the 1800's. If they go Romney, that would probably mean he's the conservative choice overall. Of course the polls probably already show that.

200 Sometimes it is harder to get a handle on early voters because people who intend to but haven't will often say they have.

But it would be surprising for Santorum to have such a lead among those voters when Romney is the only one with an organized effort to get them.

Posted by: toby928© Perrykrishna at March 05, 2012 05:50 PM (GTbGH) ---- LOL. http://tinyurl.com/3lkfasu As for my parents' divorce, I can remember when they told me. It was the spring of 1980. AD FEEDBACK I was 13 years old, and we were about to leave Fairfax, Va., and drive to Carrollton, Ga., for the summer. My parents told my sister and me that they were getting a divorce as our family of four sat around the kitchen table of our ranch home. Soon afterward, my mom, sister and I got into our light-blue Chevrolet Impala and drove back to Carrollton. Later that summer, Mom went to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for surgery to remove a tumor. While she was there, Dad took my sister and me to see her. It is this visit that has turned into the infamous hospital visit about which many untruths have been told. I won't repeat them. You can look them up online if you are interested in untruths. But here's what happened: My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested. Dad took my sister and me to the hospital to see our mother. She had undergone surgery the day before to remove a tumor. The tumor was benign.

222 I still haven't decided who to vote for in Ohio's primary tomorrow.

Newt comes the closest to being my candidate of choice.  He's smart, he's grounded in our nation's history, and he could wipe the floor with Obama in any debate.  But----as we've seen, he tends to be swayed by his own brilliance and he goes off the rails.  At this point, voting for him is like tossing my vote away.

Santorum, on the the other hand, spent his entire presentation the other day in Ohio dealing with social issues.  Not Obama.  Not the economy.  Not what he would do to bring the deficit under control, but basically reproductive issues.

Romney is a nice guy, but how is engineering a prototype for Obamacare a good thing when it comes to being a conservative?

All three of our candidates have been so busy clobbering each other that they haven't presented a coherent plan to balance the budget and reduce the size of government.

By now, I should be able to repeat their plan to right the ship of state.  I can't.

I'll vote for one and then support them because another Obama term isn't even a choice.

But I keep thinking, at this important juncture in time, we've been presented with second tier candidates when history demands our best.

Anyone care to make an impassioned case for either Gingrich, Santorum, or Romney to help me make pulling the lever for one or the other a bit more palatable....

Posted by: Jeff B. supports SMOD/Coldcuts '12 at March 05, 2012 03:16 PM (hIWe1)

228 I don't know that "palaeoconservative" has an internally-consistent meaning. If we're talking about restoring one of the Divine Right monarchs then "royalist" is just simpler.

Other than that, in an American context it *should* mean rolling the Progressive project back to 1865. So, no slavery (slavery's for royalists) but also no 14th Amendment.

This is obviously an idealist platform. For instance, I think there was an income tax in the late 1860s, even though it was later found unConstitutional. I don't think there was a gold standard in the late 1860s, even though the palaeos would want one. People on the (local) government dole could vote, even those the palaeos would want to restrict the franchise.

Being against neocons, though, is fine. Because the neocons, like McCain and Graham and the various Bushes, are still out there. I contrast neocons with Zionists; Zionists are the good guys IMO. The neocons were cheerleading the Arab Spring especially in Libya - which is increasingly looking like a disaster.

Earlier someone was commenting that palaeocons hold grudges against neocons. An ordinary person (or, well, a weirdo like me) would break it down to first-principles on what palaeos and neos actually stand for. Then he'd look at why a palaeo might not approve of a neo.

And then along comes a palaeo to give HIS side - and it's the OHNOEZ FIFTH COLUMN meme.
