I know I already posted that second picture, but the contrast is so keen.

This is what the NYT calls a "draw."

26 I thought it was interesting post-debate how the Obamas
sorta glued themselves to the happy Romney family on stage for longer than was necessary. I kept wondering when they'd separate off of the Romney victory party. Clearly, they wanted to bask in some of that glow.

Then Mitt(probably wondering why the Obamas
were acting as part of his family) separated himself by going over to his podium(in pic).

Good move. Even the Obamas got the drift and left the stage.

I didn't click on it, but the NY Slimes appears to have an editorial saying that debates are Bad.

You think the American taxpayer can't afford to keep more of his own money than give it to the IRS??? Here's an idea, Mr. President. Why don't we raise the tax rate to 100% so everyone can prosper! I think that could've been a deadly trap to spring on TFG. The only people who debunk this line are Rush and Levin. And it is devastating.

60 I think that TFG's poor debate performance is being over-analyzed. All he knows is talking points and snippets from speeches. No one has ever challenged him on any of his continuous string of lies, certainly not the media. Once someone stands up like a man and calls him out with facts, he simply has no response other than uhhhs and umms and then goes back to the same talking points from his handlers. Not only did Romney expose him for what a clueless pillock he is, he exposed the MFM and their role in this. All in 90 minutes.

Yeah.  Very much.

That day I had just finished an 18-hour straight-through drive from Ft. Benning to Ft. Riley, KS at 6 am that morning.  The sky was grey, the earth was brown, it was cold and overcast, and the entire 1st Infantry Division was in Germany for an exercise, so there was this eerie feeling of "nobody is home"

Then I woke up at 3 pm and I watched my Pats get the epic beat down of the century after scoring first.

One of his biggest problems is that he has been falsely proclamed to be a genius when in truth he's not a very deep thinker. 151 I'll tell you why Obama lost the debate and whose fault it is: The press. Everything -- and I mean EVERYTHING has a price. Obama paid the price for a press coddling him for 4 years. Never asking a tough question. Never knocking him down so he can learn to get back up. If the press wants him to win, they have done him a great disservice over the last 4 years and Romney showed the emperor without any clothes last night. You're mad now there, Tingles? Hey you're like a parent who never lets their kid get hurt, never lets the kid go outside, protects and coddles... until the kid gets out into the real world and the real world clocked him last night. President Obama is a typical spoiled occupy Wall Street-er. Press, you are to blame for this performance because you never expected your guy to perform better, try harder. You instead protected him like a doting mother from all the mean republican bullies all his term. Price has finally been paid.

I'm just scanning the web (and listening to the TV commentators). Romney certainly seemed to be trying to win, and Obama was quite mellow. Obama dished out policy points and always sounded steady, if a bit tired at times, but I think he was relying on his famous likeability, occasionally flashing his famous smile (for little reason). Romney might have gotten too passionate, but he was bubbling with policy ideas, and the message was: Give me the job, let me work for you, I can help<<<<<<<

The democrats are furious at Jim Lehrer for not covering for their king, and bailing him out at every opportunity.  I, for one, think Lehrer did a   surprisingly good    job of staying out of the way and letting the candidates spar with each other.  Debates are about the candidates  debating their competing ideas, not about how the media can spin it   or throw 'gotchas' at the men.  Any journalist criticizing Lehrer is doing it because he went back to the old style of debate, ala Lincoln-Douglas or Reagan-Carter, where the candidates themselves are required to pick apart each others' arguments.

Every once in a while, at a critical time, Obama being pampered by the Palace Guard media comes back to bite him.  Like last night.   Romney seemed to know far more and to know Obama's talking points as well as he did.   Romney did something Republicans need to do far more often:

ATTACK THE TALKING POINTS

It doesn't matter if the facts are on your side if the Democrat drops some talking point like "he wants to destroy the middle class" "the policies which got us into this mess" or "he wants to give trillions to the wealthy"  and you just talk about the facts and figures of your tax plan, you lose.

Romney, on the other hand, clearly won last night's debate on the talking points and on the facts.

246 Although it is true that Governor Romney won this first debate, it is also true that I secured a strong second-place finish. Some will argue that only those who win should receive recognition and be declared winners. This is a fundamental difference between the two paths each of us would take because I have a profound belief that our country is big enough to ensure all candidates receive an equal outcome, regardless of effort and ability.

Look at everything Governor Romney has. Look at Ann versus Michelle. Is it right and just that this handsome multimillionaire with the beautiful blonde take the presidency from a big-eared African-American / Hawaiian / Indonesian kid with a funny name? He doesn't need one more trophy for his trophy case. He can buy his own yacht and doesn't need one subsidized by taxpayers.

I still believe in an America that will honor the less intelligent, less industrious among us who realize there are a lot of smart people out there. There are a lot of hard-working folks out there. Let them do their thing...and let me have four more years to redistribute it so everyone gets a fair share.
