President Obama Flashes Gang-Signs In Oval Office
— Ace

Well, Vulcan is a gang. In a way. If you think about it.

livelongandstumble.jpg

Barack, I knew Mr. Spock.

I worked with Mr. Spock.

Mr. President, you are no Mr. Spock.

That's the timeless Nichelle Nichols, of course, and by timeless, I mean 80.

I guess I gotta say that she looks pretty good for 80.

Via Komplicated.

It is usually mentioned that way, but there were others before it.

The episode features a kiss between James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and Lt. Uhura (Nichelle Nichols). This is often cited as the first interracial kiss depicted on a scripted television series,[1][2] but took place after Sammy Davis, Jr. had briefly kissed Nancy Sinatra on the variety program Movin' With Nancy in December 1967;[4] and an interracial kiss on Emergency Ward 10, a British drama series, in 1964;[5] a kiss between Asian American actress, Victoria Young and David McCallum in the 1966 The Man from U.N.C.L.E episode, "The Her Master's Voice Affair;" and a kiss between multi-racial actress Barbara Luna and William Shatner in the 1967 Star Trek episode, Mirror, Mirror.

199 The chompers thing was more of a videogame thing (Star Trek was too cheap to build expensive heavy moving parts). But it was referencing the general need of drama (especially episodic TV drama) to make things much more difficult than they should be, for dramatic purposes. Accessing a part of the engineering section should not be difficult. And yet so often there is some contrived difficulty to do something that consists essentially of hitting the "OFF" button. I'm overthinking this. Hey, did you guys notice that Tony Shaloub was written stoned but then they, I think, took out the part establishing he was high, I guess to make it safe for kids?

213 About 21 years ago, while I was teaching H.S. choir, our school had a huge science symposium for 3 days. It was over a year in planning and one of the 'lighter' offerings was to be Nichelle Nichols speaking to a large group that was going to be held in our choir room. For the kids, this was interesting, but for those of us teachers who grew up with Star Trek, this was exciting. Now, as a female myself, I did not perhaps share in looking forward to Nichelle's hotness, but I had been a huge fan of the show. Well, unfortunately, Nichelle was not able to make it, but she sent items from the show and also sent her manager who has been with her for years to come and speak. He was actually quite good. And then about 2 weeks later, the school got a very nice letter from Nichelle, who apologized again and said that she and her manager wanted to donate the speaking fee he had received to the choral music department. This amount was not large, but the thought was quite wonderful. So whilst Nichelle is not keeping good company here, I still think quite highly of her. And, damn, she looks good!!

There she had an unexpected and private meeting with a rather important fan. Dr. Martin Luther King. When she told him she was thinking of quitting, he talked her out of it, commenting on what a great thing it was to have a future where a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-national, multi-PLANETARY crew could zoom about space making the galaxy safe for decent people. When I click in to a nice picture of the president and a 80 old year woman who also happens to be one of the foxiest actors of her generation, the first comment I read is "She still voted for that Obamanation, so screw her."

In other words, your subliminal message to anyone out there checking out this feelgood picture is "F&%k your grandma if she voted for Obama". Now, this may just be a bad cooincidence for this blog, but I read things like this all over the republican and mainstream blogosphere. The president isnt just wrong politicaly, he is a secret muslim from hell. The ones who voted him in are not your respected opposition, they are traitors and communists, anti-semites and sodomites who propably burn children at night in churchyards. Its becoming an imageproblem, youre profiling yourselves as the party of the neanderthals.

So, back to lurking.
