Primary/Referendum Pre-Results Thread

Update: CAC, as usual (good man), has an election thread ready to go.

I'm asking him to publish that one and make this thread a "pre" results thread.

Mourdoch's campaign slogan was "It's time," as in "Time to go."

Earlier, Lugar had sought Democratic votes:

Â“So IÂ’m appealing to all of the people of Indiana Â— I emphasize all Â— to ask for a Republican ballot today and to vote for me,Â” Lugar added.

Hot Air links a poll showing it 48-38, Mourdoch's favor, when leanders are included (43-35 without leaners).

Chuck Schumer says he's super-exited that a Mourdoch wins open the possibility of a Democratic pickup, which it does, a little, just because guys like Lugar, once they get elected for 36 years straight (yes, 36 straight years) pick up an aura of inevitability about them.

But Mourdoch's not a bad candidate, I don't think.

Meanwhile, two other races of import:

[I]n Wisconsin, Democrats will choose a recall challenger for Scott Walker. LaborÂ’s candidate is Kathleen Falk but Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is favored; the contest is bitter enough that a post-election party unity rally has been canceled, so sit back and enjoy as Trumka and his pals in Wisconsin fume. The other big contest is the North Carolina vote that would ban gay marriage Â— and civil unions. If the last poll is right, the vote wonÂ’t be close: ItÂ’s 55/39 in favor of the ban in a state O won in 2008, which helps explain why heÂ’s keeping his head down on this subject this week.

Here's the Indiana Department of Elections for returns, though we might have a call well before a lot of votes are officially tabulated.

All of the city is liberal except for parts of Staten Island (not enough). Most of Long Island and most of Westchester is too. That's a big chunk of votes.

It's more than the godfather thing, according to what I read .... somewhere. Lugar was one of Daniels's original political sponsors. They go way back. Daniels likely feels obligated out of personal and political etiquette.

66 In all seriousness, I am well aware that this is a gamble, but in my opinion, it's a smart one. I think the reason I dislike Lugar so much is that his sense of entitlement grows with the whiteness of his hair. I watched John Warner go through the same thing, until terminal Senatitis consumed him, and he thought that the only thing that mattered was that he got to play the wise old man of the Senate.

I voted for him twice, but by the end, was reduced to spluttering rage every time his name appeared in the paper.

All the major cities are over 50% black and no one wants to live in them because of crime and a decaying infrastructure from decades of Democrat rule but those who have the answers won't be listened to or elected so they get shouted down and scourged if they try so everybody just moves away.
