— CAC Oh wait. That's PPP.
While trolls and lefties delighted in the MuLaw poll released the day of the debate showing Obama up 11 points...
Apparently that gap shrank drastically in the 48 hours since (and to compare apples to apples, Romney trailed Obama by 7 in the last PPP poll two weeks ago, so still a clear, obvious drop).
All of Obama's gains in the purple states through September have been wiped out by a 90 minute ass-stomping.
To the moron horde, I ask that you use lotion when that thought fully sinks in.
I ask you get a Costco-size when you think further: Ryan debates Biden in 5 days.
Updates: Poll finds Romney in positive territory on approval rating for the first time ever- 49/48, an 8 point bounce. Poll finds voter sample of 34D-33R-33I, very believable. Poll finds indies breaking to Obama. Poll finds non-whites splitting 24-4-72 Romney/Und/Obama.

As Ace himself pointed out at the time, Biden lied his ass off repeatedly during his 2008 debate with Sarah Palin, and got away with it.
And the enemy-dia will be absolutely desperate to spin this as a loss for Ryan, who if anything, they hate far worse than Romney.
Ryan was really *the* first individual during Obama's presidency to get right up in the face of the SCOAMF, in person, and tell him quite clearly that he was full of it, and the Palace Guard will never forget or forgive that act of _lese-majeste_.

At this rate Wisconsin will be gravy, with Florida, Virginia, Ohio and Colorado trending toward Romney, Obama BARELY clinging to life in Nevada, and New Hampshire and Iowa yet to be polled post-debate (Rasmussen's most recent IA/NH polls in mid-September already had Mitt ahead in both).

@Mama Winger,
That may be enough to. Ol' Joe will make a fool of himself given enough frustartion. Ryan just to has to stay on the fact attack. (Not necessarily a juglar attack.)
Biden had it easy last year, Palin had to appear legitimate, meaning the pressure was on her to show her chops (and thus Biden basically got a pass.) Ryan doesn't have that problem.

My Wisconsin Badgers has been just the opposite for the last 15 years, they run the ball down your throat for 4 quarters. They always have an incredible offensive line that just wears out most defenses. To beat them you have to be going into the second half with a minimum two touchdown lead. But like WV, it wins tons of games but will never win a national championship.

The difference in this one will be, Ryan won't knows every subject inside out (maybe not quite as strong on forgiven policy but still leaps and bounds ahead of Biden) and Biden won't be able to just make shit up when his mind goes blank. And I know Biden is going to lose control at sometime, his self righteousness will demand it and at that point Ryan will embarrass him by pointing out either the fallacy of his statement or the ridiculousness of it. From that point on Biden will just appear like the fool he is.
It's a fucking joke this guy holds the office he does and he'll show the world again that night why.

He enjoys it, whereas the Big 0 (plainly) does not.
And the man will lie like a rug.
So I think it is no certain thing that Ryan will wipe the floor with him.
Ryan is smart, however. What he needs to be careful about is relating to the mainstream. He needs to poke holes in Biden by attacking the current record. It's a target-rich environment. Wonky is good, but not too wonky.
On another subject, I was in a phone conversation with a former Obama supporter--contributed to him even. And I think she had a great point about the upcoming foreign policy stuff. Romney (and Ryan) need to tie everything back to the economy. I was concerned that FP was not in Romney's wheelhouse, and she pointed out (rightly) that it didn't matter if he pushed everything back to the economy.
China as a military threat? No, China as an economic threat.
Egypt and the Middle East? Why are we giving them billions of dollars?
Obama can talk about American image and nuance, but heartland voters want the focus HERE. We are about to fork over more than a billion to Pakistan. That's the kind of thing that most Americans are going to side with the candidate questioning, rather than the candidate apologizing.

Ryan himself has said that Biden doesn't make gaffes during debates. (Although I'm praying he does this time.) I don't think Ryan is treating this as a cakewalk.
That said, I'm not buying the argument that if Biden manages not to embarrass himself, that means he wins. Much of the country still doesn't know Ryan. He's been portrayed by the Obama campaign as a mean Randian who wants to push grandma off the cliff. When Ryan shows up being polished and affable as well as in command of math, looking like the midwestern boy next door, he's going to impress people. Just as Romney demolished the "callous rich guy" persona constructed by the Obama campaign, so too will Ryan destroy the image of the "cold numbers wonk." He doesn't have to be mean to Biden (which would be a mistake), although he does have to raise the BS flag when Biden lies. Ryan will do a fine job being Ryan.

And let's reconfirm one point: the Volt is not an electric car. It's a series hybrid.
The Nissan Leaf is an electric car, and it's the current object lesson in what happens when you try to build an EV down to a price point.
Most EVs have actively-cooled battery packs (water or air circulated through the pack, controlled by a temperature-monitoring system.)
Nissan cheaped out. They decided they could get away with a passively-cooled battery pack.
The problem is that while they were running around advertising a 100-mile range, a real-world best-case is more like 65. And, because of the passive cooling, conditions outside that best-case (high or low temperatures, extreme current draw, etc.) both drain the battery faster than would be the case with an actively-cooled pack, and shorten the pack's life considerably.

His nature IS not to change his nature. My guess is he'll tinker with some variable -- say, using someone else than Kerry as his sparring partner -- and think that'll be the thing that changes everything, so no need to prepare harder than before.
I remember back to my NPD father, how he'd always want to schedule one last big blowout talk that would, naturally, be the one that would convince me that He Is Right And I Am Wrong. So we'd have it, and it would never come out like he thought it would, so there would be a Next "ultimate" talk demanded...
Sometimes they would involve a psychiatrist he seriously thought would be the "referee" to declare that He Is Right blah blah blah. One of them was a talk-show psych prominent in California at the time. He came out of that session saying "he put his shoes on the table! damn hippie, no use...."

BINGO! It's funny to hear people say "oh, he just doesn't get challenged enough by the people around him." Well , whose fault is that? He could very easily go out and find conservatives to act as advisers and challenge him on his policies. He chose not to do so. If you and your neighbors and your kids are out of work or underemployed, that number doesn't mean squat. And when you factor in sky-high food and gas prices, it really isn't relevant.
Greg also might consider that some of the papers and TV people, who have been carrying Obama's water for almost 4 years, are probably pissed that after all the help they have given him, he didn't even bother to show up on debate night, standing there like a complete idiot (which he is). It made them look like fools. So the next few polls might not be weighted quite so heavily for democrats.

A new poll shows Mitt Romney flipping a 5-point deficit in Colorado before the first presidential debate, which was held on Wednesday in Denver, to a 3.5-point advantage later in the week — another signal that Mr. Romney's comparatively strong debate performance has started to translate into rising poll numbers for the Republican.
A poll from Gravis Marketing, conducted Oct. 3-4, shows Mr. Romney with a 49.4 percent to 45.9 percent lead over Mr. Obama. The president had held nearly a 5-point lead in a poll conducted Sept. 25, at 50.2 percent to 45.5 percent.
Mr. Obama's job approval numbers are also significantly underwater in the new poll: 40.5 percent approve, while 50.9 percent disapprove. Just 36.8 percent of voters say the country is on the right track, compared to 53.5 percent who think it's on the wrong track.

I've seen R/R signs in unlikely places - the East Side and Shorewood. Reminds me of the Walker recall. But I'm not seeing a whole lot of bambi signs.

>> D+1 and Indies break toward Obama, yet Romney is down 2?
Anyone else see that as odd? <<
Given Romney has 92% of Rs, SCOAMF 89% of Ds, and the I vote is 51%-42% SCOAMF,....
The recent polling, both in Wisconsin and nationwide, was supposedly showing a Pubbie enthusiasm gap, with SCOAMF winning more Ds than Romney winning Rs.

I don't think Obama is up that much with Indy's in WI. I think Wisconsin comes down to the crossover vote in WI-01. I think Romney will do well enough in WI-07 and WI-08 to offset WI-03.
So will the good people of WI-01 vote twice for Ryan or will they vote for Obama. That is the question.
