Politifact: TRUE, WINGNUTS!!11!
Oh, my. Mitt really stirred the hornets' nest with his joke about Obama's promise to rein in those pesky sea levels.
Like they did with Paul Ryan's Janesville GM plant reference, the "fact checkers" are wetting themselves as they completely miss the point (and get the facts wrong at the same time).
They can't accept that every rational person outside their little Progressive/Media (BIRM) bubble views their Messiah's grandiose promises of environmental healing and a magically restored economy where every job is a green job as the punchline to a joke. A very bad joke.
The death throes of their fairytale are going to be ugly, but lucky for us they will be televised. Enjoy.
*(h/t Damn Dirty RINO for adding the Obama quote to the graph)

Obama Empty Chair. Anyone know where to get one? I'd like to own a piece of history. (Is that racist?) And it's better than the stupid Obama plates that they sold, and incidentally, more useful than Obama, the plate, and the DNC combined.
I'm actually serious.

NBC and the other broadcast networks cut their live convention coverage to an hour during prime time this year, which leaves barely time to show the main speeches, let alone analyze them. Yet NBC’s chief anchor, Brian Williams, has conspicuously avoided the most fractious MSNBC discussion panels. Those anchors who do make dutiful appearances, like David Gregory and Tom Brokaw, are badly needed but don’t stay long or join the fray — like piano players in a brothel, they don’t go upstairs.
Wow! that's gonna leave a mark.

Look up Rollback operations, it was discovered that the best way to undermine a target regime was simply reminding people and reinforcing the perception of the meaningless and inefficiency of the seat of power.

OT, but have y'all read about the fatal shooting at that NJ shopping center this morning? Here's the description of the gunman from an article at ABC Local in NJ (linked at Drudge):
The gunman was identified as a 23-year-old ex-Marine who worked at the supermarket for the last two weeks.
Authorities say the suspect left the store around 3:30 a.m. and returned a half hour later dressed in camouflage, armed with an AK-47 and an automatic handgun. He shot the two victims, both young adults, in separate parts of the store before turning the gun on himself.
First off, prayers for the victims. May they RIP.
Second, you know what this will be, according to the media? Another crazy military vet who decided to kill people. The fact that the guy served his entire two year stint in the military in California and never deployed overseas will mean nothing.

Among independents -- the precious, eagerly sought, oh-God-everybody-loves-them independents -- Romney leads Obama (this is a poll this week) by 15 points, 53 to 38 in independents. "He rushes towards problems....instead of running from them."
All those personal stories....the stories about Bain...the Olympics story....the stories of what he did as Governor....
Those were all stories of how Romney is a "go-to guy".
A guy who tackles problems.
He doesn't kick the can down the road.
He puts his shoulder into it.

After it emerged that Obama was still taking time to fit in a campaign stop in Cleveland, Ohio before checking out how clean-up operations are proceeding in the Bayou state, the Obama campaign abruptly cancelled that event.
'In light of the PresidentÂ’s travel to Louisiana to meet with local officials and view ongoing response and recovery efforts to Hurricane Isaac, President Obama will no longer travel to Cleveland, Ohio on Monday, September 3,' the campaign said in a terse statement.
Romney had changed his schedule to head to an affected town outside New Orleans while Obama, who has yet to visit the Tropical Storm Isaac zone, headed off to Texas to campaign.

I went to the first link, and it's pretty hilarious:
"...This 2010 paper published by Science magazine (paywalled), notes that over the past 20 years, global sea level has risen an average of 3.3 millimeters a year.
This is becoming a severe social and political problem because so many people around the world, and millions of them in the United States (including RomneyÂ’s Boston headquarters) are located along coastlines. Approximately 10% of the worldÂ’s population lives at elevations of 10 meters or less above sea level, the Science paper notes, and many of these places suffer from subsidence, erosion, and other problems that hasten their exposure and possible demise."
In engineering, we call an average rise of 3.3mm/yr over 20 years "66mm", which we also call 6.6cm, which we also call 2.6 inches. And it's baloney that it started around 1950, it's been going on for centuries. To do another conversion, we're talking about roughly one FOOT per CENTURY.
These clowns describe this, which has been going on for centuries, as a "Serious problem". Yeah, Romney's guys better hurry up and deal with the fact that their HQ will be 1 FOOT closer to being underwater when his great-grandkids might want to use the place to run for President.
PLUS, it looks like "10% of the world's population" has LESS THAN 3000 YEARS to pack up and move (and that's using THEIR numbers)!! Science!! Oh my!!
File that under "You just can't make this stuff up." What the hell is this doing on Forbes?

Its a sad state of the nation i must report...my children, my cousin's children, my nieces and nephews....never say, "It's a free country..." has anyone noticed this childhood comment absent in the current vocabulary of our youth. I've only recently been noticing it, and Ryan's speech brought it home. We used to say that several times a day as children...whenever anyone said we couldn't do something, "yeah i can! its a free country..." i remember my sister even saying that to my parents in her teenage years. Yeah...ef hutton has a sister you SCOAMF. Did i mention ef hutton is dead....hence my affinity to alice n chains...zombie music.

Or not so subtly, as in the case of their bogus Fast and Furious hit piece.

For the record, the above link does not adequately address the Janeville plant issue. Breitbart does it better. They say that most of the employees were laid off on the DEC2008 date, but that the plant was not completely closed until APR2009.
They add that Obama specifically said (later) that he "will lead an effort to retool plants like the GM facility in Janesville". Although the careful reader will note the weasel-word "like", meaning that he could say this and make Janeville think he would help, when he could live up to his promise by helping some other plant instead.
As far as accusations of lying, Ryan - if you read the actual text - only speaks of a prediction by CANDIDATE Obama in 2008 that "if our government is there to support you". So he was actually saying was that Obama had spoken in glowing terms about the government coming in and making everything wonderful for a century. He never actually claimed that Obama even made a promise - only a fantastical feel-good almost prediction ("almost", because he DID say "if") that (like so many others) didn't come true.
At the same time, Obama never lifted a finger to do anything, once he had the chance. The plant is officially on standby, and could be re-opened.
His point was that Obama threw around a lot of flowery language that suggested that things would improve, and they never did. The quote was accurate, and the point was valid.

It is using this logic that George Bush was blamed for Katrina.
But since the levies held, Obama kept his promise.
The article that goes with the picture clearly says in it's headline hte ocean is rising higher faster than expected.
By whom? And what did Obama have with lower the expectations of the rising?
Everything is unexpected when you are a liberal. It's sort of like they wake up every morning and are surprised the sun came up again... must be Obama who made that happen.
I just help there are enough selfish people left who will vote for Romney to save themselves and let the idealistic ocean watchers drown.

To wit: The graph posted above not only notes in its title the lack of acceleration but is directly preceded by
"If anything it looks like the trend is slightly decelerating:"
Obama promised that his election would mark the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow. Meaning exactly a decelerating trend.
While he is truly full of sh!t you guys have to work on consistencies.
