— Ace Video of the now-concluded press conference is here.
Bella is apparently okay.
...
Rumors on Twitter, but not confirmed, Ed says, by Fox and CBS.
A "senior adviser" confirms it.
epublican presidential candidate Rick Santorum will announce he will suspend his campaign on Tuesday at an event in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, a senior adviser to the campaign told CNN.
He's going to have a conference call with supporters telling them not to get "discouraged" and promising he'll stay "active."
But obviously once you take a big step like this, it's very difficult to un-take it.
The Big Feminism Post: I put it into draft. I like it, but it can't compete with a big breaking news thing. I'll put it back up later.

Well this should make for a interesting discussion at my Wednesday committee meeting.
I'm guessing he saw his poll numbers tanking in PA. I think he still wants a political career and knows that losing in PA would probably end it permanently.
I'm glad he's out. I hope Newt conceded today too. Newt's already 4.5 million in debt.
Let's just lick our wounds, move forward and prepare for the epic battle that lay ahead.

Posted by: Boulder Toilet Hobo at April 10, 2012 10:34 AM (QTHTd)
Seems like your initial premise is pretty-much fracked.
You started a wonderful diatribe about how she's beneath the notice of straight men who couldn't have any reason to pay attention to her because she's not in TV or movies lately:
"As a member of The Patriarchy in good standing, I did not know this. I did not know about her puffy face. Even if I had known about her puffy face, I would not have remarked on it, as Ashley Judd is not relevant enough for a guy to discuss.
She's not in movies or TV shows lately.
But she is relevant enough for the gossip blogs to discuss."
The thing is, the only reason she's being discussed is precisely BECAUSE she's on TV lately. The new series "Missing" started up March 15th with her in the starring role, where she plays a sort of Mom-version of Jason Bourne.
It's surprisingly good from my straight-male perspective. Some nice action sequences. The premiere picked up about 10 million viewers from what I found on the Intertubes. That's why "the Patriarchy" is talking about her, rather than just gay men and women.

1) polygamy - part of the huge problem between the US and Mormons. Gotten rid of for Utah. No longer practiced, really.
Barky - direct product of a polygamous family. First ever in the White House. By miles.
2) Mormon. They have a state of their own. Part of America (after they dropped polygamy).
Barky was raised muslim, so alien to America and Western culture as to be utterly jaw-dropping.
3) Mittens' dad wasn't a natural born citizen and tried running for the Presidency.
Barky is NOT a natural born citizen and is occupying the Precedency, currently.

It's not a question of "how much worse can it get?"
I think we all know the answer to that one. Four more years of SCOAMF would end up with the United States in such disarray, I'm not sure there would be any takers up to the task of fixing it.

I want a 'Hell Yeah' candidate.
"Will you take all reasonable and necessary steps to allow North America to be self-sufficient in energy production and refining, including onshore and offshore gas and oil resources in the US?"
Hell Yeah!
"Will you shut down six, seven, eight cabinet-level agencies to prove to the American people that its government is making a sincere effort to live within its means?"
Hell Yeah!
"Will your administration vacate the EPA's fraudulent CO2 endangerment finding, clean out the activists and restore honesty and scientific method to atmospheric and climate research?"
Hell Yeah!
"Will you work to ensure that this country does not fund its enemies abroad, starting with an immediate 50% cut in US funding of the United Nations and a reevaluation of our relationship with that institution?"
Hell Yeah!
"Is Afghanistan, to paraphrase Bismarck, worth the bones of a single Illinois Marine?"
Hell...uh...No!
But we are told by our betters that we need a candidate who will play nice with the middle, that we need to convince a quarter of those uncommitted formerly-Obama-voters that it's Not Their Fault(tm) that we've got a SCOAMF in the Oval Office now, that No One Could Have Known(tm) just how bad the Teleprompter-in-Chief would be.

Yes, I know that's the story, but is it true?
Posted by: Christopher Taylor at April 10, 2012 03:36 PM (r4wIV)
Yes, it's true, but for some reason I can't post URL links on here. Enter "Santorum defends robocalls in Michigan" & "usa today" into any search engine.
So why didn't you look it up yourself?

And, looking ahead now, how about a tin-foil-covered skull that goes out?
Real Journalists have books of that stuff, all ready to go.
And, they write their obituaries in advance, too. They're that professional.

Wait, he's not conservative? At all? He's basically Obama Lite?
Guess what? He will still be painted as an ultra-conservative by the MBM. He will lose. Why vote for Obama Lite when you can get The Real Thing™?

Mitt Romney is now for all practical intents and purposes: the Republican Nominee for President of the United States.
It is now ridiculously obvious that all remaining Romney-haters are effectively engaged in the campaign against Mitt Romney becoming President. (They can no longer cover themselves with the thin veil that they really just want to see someone else win the nomination. – That’s over.)
That essentially puts them in league with the Obama campaign.
And that's all we really need to know about them.
Posted by: _Dave_ at April 10, 2012 12:06 PM (2amQY)
It is ironic that they hurl the utterly irrational and lame insult that Romney supporters are trolls.
We are? Really? Trolls pretend to be something other than they are.
But consider that they are the ones who are verbally tearing down a man of significant accomplishment who has openly embraced the Paul Ryan Budget and who is solely challenging Obama for the Presidency. Attacking Romney makes them the trolls. – And from here on out, they should always be dismissed as such. Call them by their category: Obama Trolls.
And even more specifically: Romney Bashing Obama Trolls. (Or: RBOTs)
Posted by: _Dave_ at April 10, 2012 12:07 PM (2amQY)
When there was a chance that an alternative candidate could win the Republican nomination, we could give the Romney-bashers the benefit of the doubt.
But now those who continue to bash Romney have no excuse left. They are Obama Trolls bashing Romney - plain and simple.

Sure, they will claim that they hate Obama also. But thatÂ’s just the thin disguise they hide behind to give themselves the credibility to bash Romney. And now itÂ’s obvious.
They are Obama Trolls pretending to support weaker GOP nominees. - Just so they could get their jollies by ripping on the likely Republican Nominee who would eventually be challenging their precious, messianic Obama.
Their continuing attacks on Romney reveal their true agenda.
Yet they are stupidly shredding their own obvious disguises – exposing themselves for the nasty Obama Trolls they clearly are.

As a true concerned Christian conservative (I even voted for Reagan in 84), I can tell you that this site is NOT a conservative site. They are always talking about fapping, praising Dennis Hopper, and laying with women who are not their wives. Now they are making jokes about abortion, I am the ONLY pure conservative here.

Romney was (and is) at least as conservative as his two sane primary opponents, Gingrich and Santorum. Gingrich ran to the left of Romney on immigration and initially denounced Ryan's first entitlement reform plan while Romney embraced it. Santorum's voting record shows him to be a moderate and somewhat Big Government Republican, although his strong socially conservative views tend to obscure that fact. Point is, neither Gingrich nor Santorum are conservatives by the usual measure, yet the Not Romney, supposedly conservative crowd embraced them as their own because they were, well, not Romney.
Hypocrites.

It's hilarious that the ironic Romney-bashers actually think they are fooling people into believing that they are GOP conservatives rather than the incognito liberals pulling for Obama that they actually are.
I don't think they realize how obviously transparent and foolish they are.

Yep, Otis Crib, youÂ’re just another Romney Bashing Obama Troll. But in your spare time you double as an Ass Clown.
How does that pay, by the way? – You ought to let your buddy Barrack know because he’ll be looking for a new job in less than a year’s time. I bet he’d be almost as good an Ass Clown as you are.

Mittens wasn't my first choice. Off the top of my head, I can name ten politicians who I think would be a better president than he will. But as Mark Steyn says, the future belongs to the ones who show up: most of my ten politicians gave the race a pass, or ran shitty campaigns. Mittens did the work and raised the money, and he won it fair and square - or as fair and square as politics ever is.
Mittens is not the best man for the job, by a long shot. But he's infinitely better than the incumbent. At this point, that's all that matters.

Newt's face is truly puffy. I expect a half-eaten eclair to pop out of it at any second.
The thought of him mounting anything smaller than a Beluga whale is really disconcerting.

Somewhere in the past year I unfortunately saw a photo of Newt sunbathing. The image is still etched into my retinas. Beached whale did describe it. However! I do like the cut of his jib when he is messing with debate moderators. Otherwise, he is just hanging out to have a place in Tampa.

But sounds like you guys are really desperate. To have you candidate appear to most everyone but republicans and conservatives to be buying the republican nomination in plain sight....well almost, anything can happen at the convention. And remember, you all say newt is out of it but that's not what newt is saying at all. And if you look at the V photo, he's got a powerhouse behind him....so if I were mittens I might not be breathing a sigh of relief until I was the nominee at the convention. Anything can happen.....
I'm not a conservative, I registered republican to vote against mittens. But then I'll register back to vote as an independent again. The dems/libs scare me more than the republicans/conservatives. But you guys make my friends laugh with the things you say. But my friends are thinking there are more pro obama types masquerading as conservatives on this site than anywhere else. You are proving a fertile ground for my poli sci doctoral candidate friend.
