Meanwhile: A blah blah blah, Texas Governor's house bombed, YAWN 2008 RNC bomb plot, "Mostly Peaceful," oh whatever bricks and pipes left on rooftops to injure or kill 2012 RNC convention-goers.
Occupy has plans to invade the RNC as well, featuring maps of residences, hotels, and businesses to target. Mostly peacefully.

I'm seriously pondering taking a step I have heretofore denied myself since leaving security/investigation/personal protection work 18 years ago and getting my CCW back. The last time I had a permit it was a far harder qualifying process, and a hassle to keep updated so I surrendered it when I moved to Texas. The RNC should give serious thought to allowing CCW holders to gather near their non SS protected sites for just such occasions.
I'd also get working on setting up a dedicated party security company if as I suspect they actually do go "recreate 68" in Tampa.

Decent. If the breakers are 3/4" wide its a QO panel. If they're 1" wide, then it would be a Homeline.
All the QO's have copper busses (best). Most of the Homeline's have Aluminum busses (tolerable). The QO and Homeline differ only in the buss stab interface. The breakers have the same internal trip mechanisms.
A 30yo installation in stock condition will be substandard(by current 2008/2011 codes) on GFCI and arc fault breaker coverage. You're not required to retrofit. If something was legal when installed, its still legal, until modified.
A 30yo install probably is substandard on bathroom receptacle wiring too. It was common back then to put a single 15A GFCI receptacle in a garage, and use its protection to feed downstream bathroom and outdoor receptacles (all the places in my development were originally wired this way). Today, the code minimum is for a dedicated 20A bathroom receptacle.
If you're having problems with breakers tripping when a hairdryer is used in the bath(s) along with power tools in the garage or outside, then your joint would be wired like mine was back in 89'.
Its usually not to hard to drop a dedicated 20A circuit into the bathrooms. You can leave the old 15A in place and just refrain from using it. That's legal, or you could take the 15A receptacle out and put a blank cover on. Either way today's current code minimum would be met. Having two - a 15A and 20A exceeds the code, which is never a problem.
Your bedrooms and other "habitable rooms" won't have arc fault breakers either. AFCI's try to prevent electrical fires due to arcing. They're usually a pretty easy retrofit if you want some added safety. I put'em in all over in my place because I'm paranoid about electrical safety.

I kind of like the two position scheme better -- when the thing is off or tripped its more obvious because the handle has clearly moved to the other side of the breaker.
My fav residential panels are the Cutler/Hammer "CH" type, but your QO would be my next choice. Both are very good with no known failure modes.
