Romney 46% Obama 45% in Texas
— CAC

This is for Texas, right?

clearly Texas so no troubles for Obama implied

Texas is the state with Detroit, Flint, and the upper peninsula, right?

Because otherwise I would say it is very, very bad for the President to be trailing in a state he won solidly and hasn't gone to the Republicans since 1988.

The Blue "Wall" no more.

How is this possible?

Oh well, I shall commence with the bwahahahahahahahaha.

21 Obama appears deadlocked at 45% all over the place in rational, normal polls, in most "swing states."  Except, the swing states of OH, NC, FL, VA don't appear to be the swing states anymore.  Those are red.  The swing states are now MI, CO, NV, PA, IA, NH.  If Romney can make a dent in THOSE, we're looking at a 53-45% 320 EV drubbing for "tha ONE."

Posted by: SantaRosaStan at June 07, 2012 08:23 AM (Dll6b)

23 Even if Romney doesn't win Michigan, it being a battleground state means that Obama will be using a LOT of his remaining funds to play defense throughout the Rust Belt.

If he loses Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and/or Pennsylvania, he's pretty screwed.

If he loses more than one of those, he'll likely take a lot of Dems down with him when he goes.

Obesity in America: To Win, We Have to Lose Government

Caught this headline today and thought that the piece missed the metaphor.

We have not just a fat government, but an “obese government.”
You don’t fix an “obese government” with “binge spending.”

I believe the story of the 2012 election will, ultimately, be a repudiation of one person: BHO.  It won't be the Scott Walker show, nor the Mitt Romney show, or anybody else for that matter.

One of the contants of the D party is that their loyal voters are and remain loyal D voters.  For BHO, the tingle is gone, but eventually the next one will come along, and the tingle will be back.

THIS.

Republican voters tend to take their ball and go home if their candidate is not reflecting their views. So the Republican party tends to be a bit (only a bit) more self-correcting that the Dems.

Dems will vote for a brick as long as it's a Dem brick.  They don't even have to do anything for their district.  It's tribal.

179 I am not surprised in the least by this. I've long considered Michigan in play for this election. The GOP cleaned up pretty well in 2010, and it's not like the president's policies are having a demonstrably positive impact on the state. I say it's a likely Obama state, but Romney has a pretty good shot at winning. Of course if Romney does win Michigan, it will be part of a larger typhoon that carries him to victory. I don't see it is a state that puts him over the top, but rather something that puts him in the mid 300s with regards to the Electoral College.

Michigan may just be a Red State in 2012.

The chances are getting better and better. Many of us are concentrating on the local level contests, myself especially moreso now that Thad is out. Even so, it still looks good for the R vote here in MI-11 (12) I'll keep ya posted.

In the meantime, look for the Red Label on the Winter Water Wonderland, Snyder is doing a first rate job, and has a lot of converts, and is resurecting the Reagan Dems.

205 One element not generally discussed much by the political science wonks is that people (mainly independents without conviction) want to be associated with winners. If things continue as they have and Mitt keeps generating momentum, more people will be jumping off the ChoomWagon just because they don't want to vote for a guy whose perception is now that of a loser. I have no evidence to support it but I'm guessing that all the people that made up their minds in the last days of the 2008 election, voted the way they did because they believed that McCain was going to lose. If Michigan is really in play, a landslide is coming and everyone knows it...So in essence, perception very much becomes the new reality.

207 For all those worried about RINOs, Rick Snyder, MI's governor, has been doing an absolutely stellar job in the state. His critics on the right called him a RINO. They were largely single issue idiots, one of whom is now challenging our no-op senator Debbie Stabenow. I agree with most of Rick's positions. His approach has been wonderful. He just announced our second year of balanced state budgets, with no gimmicks required. Just pure and simple fiscal conservatism. You can follow Rick on twitter with @OneToughNerd . Mitt and Rick are very ... very similar. The dems are beside themselves, trying to cast Rick as an extremist, and only managing to expose themselves as extreme. Rick's got an all GOP senate and house to work with. And they are reasonably good, with some good Tea Party folk in there. Rumor has it that we are going to become a right-to-work state soon. Rick opposes this, probably more to keep the few dems that we need happy, but not so actively in opposition. The point is, in 2010 we handed this state to an adult and a large group of adults after kicking out the spoiled whiners who've run the state into the ground. We will be in a good way if Romney wins and we can get a tea party heavy house and senate.
