A devout Christian friend sent me this. I post it at midnight: this is the Book of Joshua:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=joshua%201&version=KJV
Be strong and of good courage. Our forebears fought to carve our nation out of the wilderness, and have fought in numerous wars; our Christian forebears and the Israelites before them have endured horrors.
America is now an underground movement; don't expect our blogs to be allowed to exist much longer. We will need our own samizdat network. Watch the patriotic radio hosts get gelded (like they did to Don Imus).
We will live in "interesting times."
Who is John Galt?

well the welfare cheats and other leeches have officially won, in the next three years the military will be raped for funds for more welfare and Obamacare will take on a life of its own.
Another prediction - Obysmal will sign several UN treatries and the Senate will pass them, particularly the small arms treaty. After that he will replace two Supreme Clowns and you can then kiss the 2nd Amendment goodbye. Law of the Sea Treaty will be the second one and it will give up our rights to the wealth on our continental shelf to the UN. We will have to beg permission to get it and pay a stiff royalty to the UN for the priviledge of getting our own wealth.
Coal mining will be all but shut down. Coal fired electric generators will be going dark one after another and another trillion dollars will be flushed down the renewables rathole. Gasoline and utility rates will skyrocket and welfare payments will go up with them as it is only "fair".
this is not my parents America and now no longer mine

Electing Obama in 2008 was bad, but forgivable under the circumstances. Re-electing him wasn't merely stupid; it was aggressively stupid. >50% of this country wants free shit, and is happily distracted by bullshit vaginal issues that don't matter.
Meanwhile, every year there's more debt. We're one year closer to being Greece. The brokest nation in history gets broker.
I'm convinced that the GOP isn't going to win the White House for a while. Not with an electorate that's getting more dependent every cycle.
No, it's going to take a big crash. Something on the scale of the PIIGs. Maybe then we'll have a real discussion about the size and scope of government. Until then, though, it's MOAR FREE SHIT, MOAR OBAMAPHONES, and MOAR VAGINAL BULLSHIT as far as the eye can see.

I wish I could say differently but.....We're not a right of center country anymore, even if the margin is slim. When an electorate can be convinced that the "rich" are to blame for all that's wrong, they've essentially said it's ok to raise taxes on one group or another in exchange for more free stuff. 8% unemployment is OK so long as there's a "safety net" to fall into. Free healthcare, bailouts of student loans.
Mitt's "47%" was so politically damaging but just so devastatingly spot on. From now on, anyone who dares try to cut entitlements or govt programs is a loser in a National election -You're offically an extremist. Libs control the big cities through welfare and unions, making the outcome of National elections decided by only a few counties.
Face it - we're officially Europe.

The country's demographic future is pretty much baked in the cake. If the GOP can't win a national election against the record of the SCOAMF, when can they? GWB may very well be the last Republican President of all fifty states we will have, and boy wasn't he one hell of a small government conservative to end on?
Anyhoo, this is about the states now. If they don't want to go down the Euro-socialist sewer, they are going to have to band together and push back against the Federal Government like hell. Defiance and perhaps eventual seperation.
I'm going to ask a fellow Texan I know where he bought his SECEDE sticker. It's not hyperbole, it's a serious consideration.

Take 24 hours to mope and then buck the fuck up. I spent the day shivering outside a poll in PA, and lost most races on the ballot. It happens.
The reality is, Obama is the Dems' Reagan. And they now need a candidate of color to rack up minority votes and win. It's their crutch. The next one won't be Obama. Look at their bench and find one.
The GOP needs more than 60% of the white vote to win, and we can do better with Hispanics, without selling out on immigration. (Yeah, Rubio as VP could have won it. Hindisight.) This is just one election. They talked of a Permanent GOP Majority in 2002. 'Member that?

I'm becoming more libertarian all the time. I say so and stuff.
I am against Libertarians, capital L, as a political party, because it's an idiotic indulgence. There is a single presidency, and each house race produces a single victor. We do not have a parliamentary system where if you win 15% of the vote you get about 15% of the seats. If you win 15% of the vote, you get nothing. And you simply draw that 15% of the vote away from whichever major party is closer to your views.
The better you do as a third party, the more you help the party whose views are most directly opposite your own.
This is an indulgence.

Just got back from Boston Romney HQ. First time I ever saw anything like this.
It was quite revealing how powerful and grotesque the modern media swarm is now. The whole complex was overrun with journalists. They absolutely dominate everything about modern politics. It was amazing to see thousands of these leftist journolisters analysing, "reporting", concocting, covering up, spinning and lying en masse. It is ridiculous, absurd and sinister. And their lies register with millions.
Starve the beast. Cut out Comcast and stop all TV. All. If millions of Americans turned off TV and quit patronizing the outfits that employ these liars maybe some progress could be made. I plan to shut down Comcast tomorrow after seeing this media locust idiocy at the Romney HQ.
I personally witnessed some worthless, fat, pasty-faced Buzzfeed maggot run away and cringe when confronted by a Romney staffer who called out his lies. No defense. The bum just ran away. The clown just concocts bullshit, is called out on it and runs away.
A much better man lost yet again. Obama's 2nd term will be horror story in its tragic incompetence and corruption and lunatic leftism.
Quit TV. Quit buying products from outfits that help employ the scum in the media. This screws Hollywood, media, corrupt corporation enablers and other suspects.

Democracy with rule of law respecting property is merely two foxes and a chicken voting on what is for dinner. A little deeper analogy:
Obama and the Progressive Left have forged a winning coalition of those who want free chicken, and those progressive elites who think it will be cool to use the power of the government to sieze the chickens and serve them up to them.
Our coalition- the farmer and the Chickens, who wanted to sell eggs and maybe expand into the Dairy farm or Pork industries, loses.

They're not Americans, they're scumbags. "American" is an idea, its more than geography. Half the country hates the tea party, the group that follows the founders principals. Why? because they're scumbags. The founders ideals are completely foreign to them, and they also reject them, because they're scumbags.
Don't make the mistake of ever thinking they are Americans. They are communist scumbags that have zero connection to anything American.

Government cuts. Where is it the easiest and the pain is spread out so that the response is diffuse?
Not corporate welfare, plus they've got the lobbyists and know where the body's are buried.
Not the military (for the most part because Reps don't cut military) that too affects concentrated industries, populations and have large lobbyists.
Not the give away's (actually rebates) to the states for doing what the Gov't has demanded they do.
None of the special projects and set asides promised for reciprocation on bills passed.
So where's it going to come from?
Example; here in PA. Republican Corbett won governorship. He made deals with the unions (they got to keep their goodies and he got the peace he needed to get going). so where did he cut? Cut welfare and cut medicaid. I'm not arguing for or against it. I'm just explaining the realities.
The first thing Romney would've had to do is make deals so his agenda (or some of it) would pass. Where could he find money to cut that would spread the pain? Welfare, medicaid, social Security and medicare. They're the largest programs the most easily surgically sliced and those who depend on those programs know it.
It was baked in the cake that that's what would've happened. It'll still happen now but it'll be distorted and obfuscated by the Govt' Press (GP) so Obama will not be blamed. they'll blame it on . . Republicans.
It'll take about 12 months for the reaction to this election to be completely revealed. There may be other shocks we don't know about no that he's more flexible.
Fasten your seat belts. We're in for a bumpy ride.

I always thought Dave_in_Fla always had unrealistically high probabilities for the Senate races, but they were not completely out of line. He had some races as 100% win, who have lost.
I had more conservative probabilites. There were 15 competitive races, and I was just going by polls, although they were somewhat out-of-date. So far, we have lost at least 9 of those 15. I had the odds of doing this bad or worse in the Senate as less than 5%.
Something VERY, VERY strange is going on here.

As I have in fact been modestly suggesting be done for a while now.
Go off the grid when it comes to Big Media. Start creating your own alternatives with the Internet, but do NOT consume Big Media's news, or sports, or movies, or music. Seriously. Do not give the ratfuckers a penny. It'll be the best quit-decision you'll have ever made. Good for your mind, your body and your finances.
Seriously, and this is meant for many of the regulars here, will your life as a grown-up adult come to an end if you (for instance) never see another _Star Wars_ movie again? If that's the case, are you in fact really a grown-up adult or just an arrested adolescent with subadult tastes? Hard words. Meant to be.

A handful of random comments -
To all those blaming Romney - you're way off base. It's not Romney's fault. It's the voting population. In a perfect world, a coma victim should have been able to beat Obama with the record he's got. The problem wasn't Romney. It's that too many Americans aren't willing to open their eyes to the dire straits that the country is in.
Anyone who voted for Johnson - Sorry, but you screwed up. There's a time to stand on principle. But there's also a time to recognize that there's too much at stake for that luxury. This was one of those times.
Now that Obama's got four more years...
Obamacare - We're never going to get rid of it. Four years will give it the same permanence as Social Security and Medicare, despite the fact that a majority of the population doesn't like it.
Supreme Court - Obama gets to pick a bunch of new justices. Conservatives often have trouble finding justices that stay conservative. The only question with justices that liberals appoint seems to be how far off the deep end those justices go. The court was barely in balance during Obama's first term. It's going to tilt heavily to the left now, and it's going to be at least another twenty years before we can fix it.
I'm wondering how the markets will respond tomorrow.

She won it for Obama. And women are ADDICTED to lies. They have to be, and lets face it, GWB was the last White President this nation will ever see.
Obama is not smart. Not very gifted. Not very persuasive. His own people tune him out. Romney ran a tough, smart campaign on the economy, nothing else, and LOST. Why?
Because White women don't care about that, they care about the sexiness, the fun, the excitement of a Black President. Simple as that. They handed Obama the Presidency as I suspected they would.

It wasn't just that the demographics were against us - though the GOP obviously needs to break the ascendant liberal monopoly on minorities. Every Democratic vote we take = 2 vote advantage for us. So we have to try. Searching for an amorphous group of independents is not the way to go. We continue to hope that the blacks, hispanics, and youth are just gonna see how nice and right we are. Meanwhile our opponents call us evil.
We need to fight in the dirt, make the Democratic Party the party of failure (because it is) when it comes to blacks and hispanics, women, and the young. The Democratic Party is the failure. But we have not successfully tailored our message to those groups. That's not petty, it's smart. We NEED to co-opt immigration reform (it helped Bush and McCain), we need to take a forceful position AS A PARTY against abortion (and convey it with compassion), what we need is an enormous backbone and fearlessness. The problem is less our message and more our coherency when expressing that message.

Think about how Barack Obama just won this election. He did not campaign on a single policy idea or plan. He gave no great speech on economic policy, foreign policy. His wave at a plan at the end was a joke. He gave interviews to ladies chat shows, local goofball radio hosts, but only once to 60 Minutes and he never had single press conference in the entire campaign. He campaigned almost exclusively on college campuses. We all rightly ridiculed all of this and believed that it was not the behavior of a winning candidate.
But he won.
This country is just fundamentally unserious. It has twice elected an unserious man, the second time after the most unserious campaign that is humanly possible.
Now tell me why I should waste any more of my time and treasure trying to save this junk food Honey Boo-Boo Jersey Shore nation.
I'm done. I'm going to sell my house, sell everything I can, reduce my income and my expenses, and save as much as I can for what will certainly be a meager and miserable retirement.

I fully agree. He's just an amazing man, reminiscent of a past time when people had strong character and values.
He really ran a great campaign, he fought his ass off unlike McCain. Romney's margins in the non-minority demographics were the same as Reagan 1980's landslide. The country has changed.
Shit, he put Medicare on the table and fought that issue which is usually toxic to the tune of 20% to a virtual draw -- that's like John Lehman's naval strategy under Regan to drive a Carrier Battle Group right up into the Barents Sea and fight the Russians in their own backyard. It's honestly impressive.
Obama can go fuck himself, he's half the man Mr. Romney has been in life.

The recession coming next year to the entire world will dwarf the 2008 dip in both depth and duration. Hunker down.
Unfortunately, this was our last chance for a low-pain structuring. Now it will all collapse and have to be rebuilt almost from scratch.

But we need to start thinking about what comes after the United States. It is clear we are done as a nation.
Even if we get the Republican governors to start forcing teachers to teach our foundational principles and even if we make the long march through academia and the news media it is too late to resurrect the dream. The numbers are too big and this has gone on too long. The original version of America is dead. The revenge Obama was talking about was against the US and all it once stood for.
It is clear that we are going to have to start over now because there is no way "forward." The only question is when and how?

Having said that, it was not Romney's fault for losing. It is America's fault for failing the test of rationality and selecting a failure. Romney is a fine and decent man. He was a very successful man in multiple endeavors. He also was as moderate as can be in order to appeal to them so that he could win an election. Hell, the guy is a moderate from a NE bastion of Democrats/Progressives. He, politically, was the ideal to bridge the traditional gap of base to undecideds. And still he lost. To THE SCoaMF.
Romney/Ryan didn't fuck up. America did. Again. No one to blame but the American voter.
Idiocracy writ large. There's just no way to find a silver lining here for it isn't the people who are up for election that matter anymore; it's the foolishness of Americans to not demand more and better. We've turned into infants and imbeciles.

Take it from me, if you're looking at a chasm, me at 66 is standing at the edge. Yet I will soldier through and try to find some small amount of satisfaction and amusement on the way.
I may not live to see another Presidential election. What will be may be my last days on earth. Yet I look forward somehow to the challenge. Like challenges I've faced and met all my life. Some I've won, most I've lost but it's been interesting and I don't think I would change any of it. (well some of it)
I wouldn't be the person I am today without the life I've led. And I'm proud of some of what I've done and accomplished.
If you're an artist then you should realize that most artists do their best work during adversity and difficulties.
Embrace what comes. What's the worst that could happen? You can decide to leave any time. Why give the bastards the opportunity to gloat over your absence?
Stay and make your success or at least your existence in spite of what happens your best revenge.
Walking away won't make things better for you or others. You do have others who depend on you or would miss you don't you?
If so, you're lucky. all my family is gone and circumstances didn't allow me the opportunity to build one.
So build one for yourself and the future. Make that your goal and target to take away from this horribly disappointing day.

I live in a blue state, my husband leans libertarian but hates politics, and the only friends and family I have in this state are his friends and his family (all super liberal).
I feel so fucking alone right now. ______________________________ I hear you, mama. My husband had made a nice dinner & opened a bottle of wine, and we got into an argument over this election too. He wanted to watch CNN & Fox's returns tonight, and I was such a nervous wreck I told him no. He went off to bed and it all went downhill from there.
My father died last year; he was my political buddy, and hated the "Marxist in the White House" with the heat of a thousand suns. The fallout from Dad's death included the destruction of the relationships with my six siblings. My daughter has gone full libtard in Massachusetts with her lefty husband, and my son was so eeyorish on the election this afternoon I couldn't talk too much with him about it, because my nerves couldn't take it. My best friend is Canadian, but not political. And my country is circling the drain. So I'm feeling very alone tonight too. Thank God for my faithful little Yorkie and this smart military blog.

That's really all that need be said about why this election turned out the way it did, Fat Ass Weeping Gov. Christie notwithstanding.
We may simply have reached a point where demographics just about dictate that a Presidential race is unwinnable for the GOP, and won't be unless those trends change. Certain people simply aren't being fruitful and multiplying enough.

I'm not saying that. But there is this idea that "Tea Party" principle requires almost daring voters to vote for you, running on your least palatable positions rather than saying "As a personal matter I believe X, but I understand that the country isn't there yet."
You know-- Bush ran on abortion that way. He knew the country wasn't ready for a full legislative ban on abortion -- let alone abortion rape! -- and reassured people that he understood he had to change the country to a 'culture of life" first.
Look, when we are in an evenly divided country -- right now the national vote is 49%-49% -- you really cannot afford to lose a string of 1-2% things here and there.
And yes, I think the Rape Abortion thing was a 2-3% thing. It really does hurt. It played directly into the meme they'd already created -- war on women.
I think some people continue to be perplexed that there may or may not be some *tactical fudging* that goes on in politics.

As much as I hate going to work tomorrow, I still look forward to a better future for our country...it will just take a little longer than we planned.

Its worse....we have Intelligent people who are ignorant as well...
Spent this evening with my business partners.... two intelligent IT guys....
They did not even know that Obama had a Dem Congress for his first two years in office! They had to look it up on the net once I pointed it out...
They could not tell me who currently controlled the House and Senate...
And Benghazi was all about a failed report of Gen. Hamm being forced out, instead of any verifiable facts....
And one said 'wow, too bad Comedy Central isn't covering the election.... Colbert really knows whats going on..."
I left.... early....

We thought we were going to beat them beyond th margin of fraud. We just learned that with the Chicago Machine the margin is very large. And with the ends justify the means crowd, nothing is unthinkable.
I was disappointed with the apparent results, but had some hope when it appeared Romney would fight, that maybe America had a champion who would fight to the last ballot. It was so close too, perhaps the military ballots coming in late could have made the difference? It's awful, but we have to live with it. What other choice is there?

Yes and no. Federalism. States rights. Article V convention. Secession.
There are remedies. This is a huge country. Do you think that if all those red counties that voted for Romney revolt, a bunch of Upper West Side lefties are going to go out there and rule, e.g. Wyoming, like it was a Roman empire colony? The fact is that public opinion in this country is being set by a few dozen people who, when push comes to shove, rely on YOUR passivity to set that opinion.
No, they'll huff and puff and eventually say "Fuck it, I'm not going out to cow country" and leave you alone.
The Left is a paper tiger, but you (meaning the red states) have to assert your geographical interests. The Left of today isn't like the North of the Civil War era. They've got no fight in them if it involves anything more than getting miked up in an MSNBC studio.

Don't know what this "we" business is. A number of commenters here said instantly after Akin opened his yap that it was a major disaster and he needed to be forced off the ballot by a unified front of the rest of the party. And, frankly, Romney did what he could to get Akin out.
Mike Huckabee and Tony Perkins and a half-dozen other high profile Christian socons instead sat down with Akin and told him that it was a "test of faith" moment, that God would make sure he eventually prevailed if he stayed in and did not waver.
Turns out to have been a great argument for atheism.
Note that before Akin ran his mouth using his empty head, he was the overwhelming odds-on favorite in his race. All he had to do was stand pat. Instead he lost that race due to his small brain and big mouth and swollen ego and Jeebus addiction, and he did collateral damage to the GOP in races all across the country.
As I said at the time, "Yay socons!" A stance that has hardened.

Oh, I'll live my life as best I can from here on out. I'll laugh, I'll love, I'll do all the things I've always done. But I will also mourn the death of a once great nation. That may sound hyperbolic, but I seriously believe that we've crossed the threshold from a generous, dynamic, entrepreneurial, risk-taking, adventurous nation to a boring, self-interested, trivial, shallow, superficial nation. From a nation where each of use try to do what's best for ourselves, but help out others along to the way, to one where we take from others and hold them back in order to keep us from feeling bad about our own failures. Where being "rich" is not something to strive for, but something to despise, etc. I could go on. But the point is, I can handle 4 more years of Obama. Heck, with a Republican house, he can't do much damage anyway, unless they roll over for him. What worries me is that the majority of this country looked at his record and thought, "Sign me up for 4 more years of that". What have we become?

Its the big danger with liberty, you cannot sustain a republic without a virtuous public. Once the people abandon virtue, the greed, selfishness, and short term gain begin to be the goals, and the nation pulls its self to pieces.
I had hoped, against hope, that we had one more shot to pull it out, but we didn't. It was too late.

rockmom, you stole many of my words. That such a disastrous, unfit, untalented, politically inept, small figure could wage such an absurd non-campaign as Obama did, and win - against an incredibly impressive opponent, with high and persistent unemployment, fiscal chaos, and foreign policy disaster ....... simply unbelievable.
And I have been using the "unserious" catch-all label for many years to describe the unworthy sorts who have been prospering in the Beltway since the Clinton years (Dubya's years being mostly a stark exception).
And there's just something here - as a few others tonite have noted - that's just very very weird. There wasn't a single shred of direct or indirect info or intel for months indicating the way the voting would go today. As recently as two days ago Obama's events were strikingly small, his volunteer centers half-empty - and he's been borrowing money for weeks. WTF?? The candidate himself even looked haggard and lost during some of his limp rallies. Not a matter of "echo chamber" - I'm talking about all the indirect indicators one can ever use to assess the state of things. Completely mystifying.

The downfall is inevitable given Obama's proposed fiscal and state-expansion trajectory.
A change via Romney was our only chance at altering it in any meaningful manner before the effects compound. Systems of this size are very sensitive to initial inputs, a small change now could have had meaningful results in the long-term as well as markets sentiments and projections of the future economic state.
If we are clever, we can identify and profit from this inevitable fiscal situation and provide for ourselves and families. I love this country, but it's time to be realistic.

It is the end. Tell yourself whatever you want, but it is the end. I am going Galt. I will watch them starve. I will watch them eat their young. I am done supporting their dysfunctional lives. The gov't cannot exist without our money. The gov't creates nothing but dependancy. They create no wealth. They collapse wothout the rest of us creators.
Just because 51% of the voters have decided top stick it to the rest of us doesn't mean the rest of us have to play along.
That may be "Democracy", but it is not a moral imperative.

The most irksome thing about this is the fact that few if any of the folks that voted for the most loathsome douchebag in history will ever even admit to themselves that they did a very stupid thing. Blame will be on Republicans for every single fucking thing, always. That's the most depressing thing about it to me. I can already guess how a typical conversation will go:
Lib: I can't believe I just had to spend $250 to fill my tank! Those greedy oil companies!

And here's the thing. For me, it was never about "my team" winning. I'm not much of a "Republican." Not a so-con; I'm a small-libertarian (who despised those "libertarians" who endorsed Gary Johnson in probably the most important election in our liftetimes).
For me, it was about the future of America.
I despise the endorsers of Gary Johnson as much as the Akin defenders and Maggie Gallagher's idiotic anti-Romney socon post yesterday. (Which is to say: I respect many libertarians, and I respect many socons. But anyone who's contributed to losing this election? FUCK YOU.)

I would reject that argument too.
But one among several key reasons appears to have been young low-information female voters being frightened by the idea that Republicans were going to make massive changes to reproductive rights.
Akin and Mourdock played into that as perfectly as could be imagined.
Did that account for all of the margin of victory that Democrats enjoyed here? No. But it was big enough to be a significant part.
Right up to today, voters consistently said that THE ECONOMY was their biggest concern. Akin and Mourdock allowed the narrative to be re-routed away from that with certain key demographics.
Idiocy.

Accept what has happened and don't try to parse to finely the reasons for it. Since there's no do overs, we'll never know what or why made this happen, only guess. It's not really effective for future decision making as the conditions in a future race will be different than now.

Tea Party VALUES is what we need- we need better tea party candidates.
Akin and Mourdock both fell into the same stupid trap- Abortion.
Dipshits. They both took the Santorum path, and tried to out pro life everyone within a 30 mile radius.
Roe v Wade is the law of the land. Period. Done. Senate can't overturn it. Supreme Court can, and if they did- GUESS WHAT? Abortion would still be legal everywhere.
Then it goes to the states.
So why waste time on it? Why go in depth on your heart and feeling? IT DOESN'T MATTER. You may as well give an opinion on how the Yankees will do next year, it would be just as pertinent to your job as a Senator.

The ideological and voting divide is already geographical. The red counties just need to somehow break free from DC. There is too much area to be policed to make it possible, especially if it all makes a break for freedom at once.

I'm telling you - the chance of this happening in the Senate is extraordiarily small. How can this be explained? Is every poll being taken heavily skewed against Republicans? Do only Republicans answer the phone? Is there some sort of widespread corruption in counting ballots going on? How would that even be possible? Did some mysteryious "we hate Republican" mania hit the voters all of a sudden, without anybody realizing it? Something doesn't add up.

And it wouldn't have mattered except that these voters were ignorant fools. And that's where the key problem lies. Not Akin, not Mourdock, but stupid, stupid voters. The stupidity, gullibility, and credulity of voters is what did it.
And, I'm convinced, very careful massaging of numbers by the people reporting districts.
I mean, how many examples did we see in just the last month of Democrats lying outrageously about numbers to help Obama? But this time we can trust them.

I expect the economy will continue to be ignored by Barky. The fundamental change "forward" he's seeking requires that the America we love be destroyed.
Barky learned well from his commie mentors, including and especially his mother.
He studied Stanley Ann, and what motivated her, and he really figured out how to pitch his "awesomeness" to ignorant white women who like to sleep around with men who are exotic.
Stanley Ann was the model for the way Barky ran this campaign, and how to appeal to today's Stanley Ann's. Hence all the campaigning on Teh View and other assorted trash shows.

We (and our parents the so called great generation) allowed this country to depart from it's righteous ways. To murder the unborn, to praise and applaud the decadent and perverted to worship money to the exclusion of almost everything else.
We allowed our representatives to accede to sinful ways and refuse to stand against them.
It's been going on since the '50's.
Our comeuppance is at hand. Perhaps God is being merciful by removing the righteous from the levers of power in government so as to keep them from harm and the cries of the mob.
This has all been foretold by our spiritual leaders and by prophets in the past yet we and others ignored the warnings.
Now the time is at hand for judgment to be meted out on this country.
may God have mercy on us.

So true. People worry about the economy, hate Obamacare, then they re-elect the guy it was named after?
Let's face it; we're not over race. People wanted to give the nice black man with the nice family another shot. I have so many friends who oohed and aahed over how nice it was to have a handsome black man as President (or some permutation of that).
So we let people call us racist, we didn't push on things like Benghazi because we didn't want to be called racists, and we didn't do a good job of making people understand the fiscal cliff we are about to fall off of. We have idiots like Hannity who are good at regurgitating talking points but don't really challenge Dems sufficiently with logic and intelligence. We also don't have a backbone and are too tentative in what we believe in. Paul Ryan isn't that kind of guy, which was one of the reasons I was proud to support the ticket.
So now we're stuck with another 4 years of EO's and at least another 2 of no Senate budgets. Frabjoyous day.

Exactly.
It is the historic task of the Republican Party to make white, working class American males more numerous, wealthier and more powerful.
The Republican Party has never tried to do that, because its attitude as been that it's for "everybody" but really nobody, and besides John McCain's Mexican hordes are coming to the rescue any day now.
It has to try now, otherwise it has no future.

America is dead. Its over. Its not coming back. You can't come back from having Half or more of Mexico move in through fiat amnesty. The Republican Party is DEAD DEAD DEAD.
It wasn't the hurricane, or the media, or Chris Christie, or Bloomberg, or any of that. Romney was a good candidate. He fought the only way he could on the economy. But most White women ARE Stanley Ann Dunham. That's about 60% of White women ages 18-45. Easily. Add 1/4 of Mexico here already and you've got instant Obama victory.
There is no answer. Just flight. Unless you want to just get mowed down like the Cole/Younger gang at Deerfield. Leave. If you can. If you can't ... well your life as a White man (a White woman its easier) is basically that of a Jew in Weimar Germany, save those with connections and power.

Yeah, a generation or two ago we still had some momentum but now? There was a slim glimmer of a hope as the guys came back from the war on terror and home schooled kids grew up but... too little, too late. The culture is rotted entirely from the inside.
Again: a republic cannot survive without virtue. Once we abandoned virtue, the collapse was inevitable, unless somehow, some way we could regain it. We didn't.

Be there for your family, for your friends, for your neighbors. Be there for your church. Stay and work for them, and let the rest of the nation go to hell, where its going anyway.
You're right, reparations and the rest are all coming, its a guarantee. Obama's going to forgive college loans and mortgages and keep borrowing nonexistent money from the fed to pay the treasury to pay for it all.

Still, that's probably 5th or 6th on the list of the destructive things desired over the next four years, with either a carbon tax or amnesty being your #1

Of course, that was when there were oil fields to work in, that were hiring.
The massive new EPA mandates kicking in next year are going to make the oil and gas patch (one of contemporary America's few economic bright spots) a far less vibrant place.
Elections have consequences. As someone once said.

But don't be too sad.
Germany and Europe on the whole had Obama policies for decades - yeah, it makes bitter people, makes people envious of success, everyone who fails thinks that he is "entitled" to other peoples money (my mother begged my brother ones to park his Porsche on another street, so her social worker friends won't be mad ...)- but as long as you still have a spot to get away to, it's endurable ... And inflation is fought by globalisation - Germany sustains itself by selling machines and cars to a growing chinese middle-class - and consumers profit from cheap technology ...
So it never hits as hard, as you might think on a day likes this ..

Seriously. I think a lot of Obama voters and third-party voters and non-voters have absolutely NO IDEA what's at stake.
They voted for the guy that has the same "social opinion" (as if they were just voting for their roommate) as them (e.g. on gay marriage). Though of course Obama has deferred any gay marriage policy to the states (i.e., not much a difference for gays whether Obama or Romney is elected).
They have no conception of the fact that when they or their loved ones are facing fucking DEATH they'll have to deal with a government bureaucracy equivalent to the DMV.
And, oh, a nuclear Iran. Among other things.

Be warned that I am a heretic for saying this, but the 30-06 is redundant. It was just so popular that its adherents are legion.
The .308 is more efficient, marginally more accurate (if only because it dominated competition), short action meaning a greater variety of rifles and they weight less, more options for types of rifles, far far FAR more options for high-capacity, it's cheaper and it's a government and international round so it is made in vast numbers and will be available even if there's an economic collapse.
Of the two, I rate all that as more than outweighing the almost irrelevant 100fps (maybe) velocity difference, delivered energy is going to be so close it's academic.
I would not recommend a .30-06 unless you already had a Garand collection.

I picked up a Tikka in .30-06 on clearance many moons ago for < 300 bucks. Shoots just under 1MOA with milsurp M2 ball and a bolt and trigger like polished glass. Put a nice piece of Nikon glass on it and a bipod. My "tactical shooter" in "deer rifle" disguise. :-)
Having said that I also have a SA M1A Squad Scout with an Aimpoint (as well as a scope and mount if needed).
I'd be hard pressed to decide which one to give up first.

As the Japanese commander in Bridge over the River Kwai said - "Tomorrow we begin again". but this time its time to really clear the decks and make sure that all the players on the team ARE on the team!
The wonderful example of the 'respected' Republican leader Colin Powell tells me that there are more in the party that need to be 'gone', or perhaps just start the 'conservative' party (heck call it the "Progressive Party" since the programs would be for progress and liberty instead of the thin gruel of 'reaching across the isle.... From one of his posts:
It appears that some massaging of the exit poll data is being done as the hours go by, perhaps to make it line up more with fairly close actual vote totals. In any case, here's the latest from NBC website, which has far more exit polls questions than CNN or some of the other sites. As usual, NBC has the Gender Gap as the 1st question displayed:

1. Survive, marry, have as many children as possible. Parasitize resources from the Revolution in order to survive. 2. Preserve the culture. Cling tenaciously to relgion, custom, language. Assume "assimilated" disguise to avoid becoming a target of the Revolution. 3. Build non-institutional links. Form a separate, sub rosa civilization. Associate, do business with, give and receive favors to/from "our people" only, never "them". 4. Endure oppression, persecutions, pogroms in dignified silence. Plan in terms of centuries. "Next year in Jerusalem".
Its how Jews have survived hostile cultures for centuries.

I do not understand it either. Even the most biased polls consistently said the GOP had the enthusiasm edge and the early voting data reinforced that. They were also nearly unanimous in stating that R/R were winning Independents. That plus the data showing an even to D+3 electorate makes Team Romney's confidence perfectly understandable. So what changed yesterday?

Let's note one other respect in which the USA subsidizes Europe:
Pharmaceutical development. Drug costs in the USA are sky-high. But those high prices also provide the profit margins which permit the risky business of exploratory new drug development.
Europe adopts the drugs which Americans have already paid handsomely to have developed, and then Europeans receive those drugs at low state-controlled prices.
Except now, as the US health care system becomes more like Europe's systems, chances for drugmakers to earn high returns on new drug development are becoming fewer. Development labs are being cut back sharply. Hence, there will be fewer new medications for a population in Europe that is becoming steadily grayer, older and sicker.

What lesson is learned by this, by having a good man (well, as good as politicians get) rejected by the people? Its that we're in really bad shape and desperately need something lacking in our culture.
You're thinking in terms of how much you got hurt instead of in terms of how a parent teaches children. Its infuriating and incomprehensible to have that cookie taken away when you're a little kid, but mom knows its not time for a cookie and too many are bad for you anyway.
From the kid's perspective its unjust, mean, and tyrannical, sadistic even to have cookies then deny them. From the parent's, its about teaching and helping the child grow.

I want to see the "internals", if possible. All the pre-election polls made no sense. Were the Independents just not there? Did the Dems show up, and not the Republicans? What the hell happened? Why were all those other states such disasters? I may check, but I don't think the actuals match the polls very well, and even those things made no sense.

@979
The thing is, we need to at least know whether it happened, so that it might at least be stopped in the future. If something massive went on and it is simply allowed to continue, we don't even have a democracy any more.
The widespread underperformance makes me suspicious, but the main thing to me is losing damn near EVERY contested Senate race. That's practically impossible. Also, we know that we are dealing with entirely lawless people.

"Be warned that I am a heretic for saying this, but the 30-06 is redundant. It was just so popular that its adherents are legion.
The .308 is more efficient..."
The greater magazine capacity and variety of options/sources of ammunition is important. And you're right, even a brief search shows there are a lot of very cheap rifles and ammunition in .308. On the other hand, I'll be blunt: I'm worried about the opposition having Class IIIA Body Armor and plates. Apparently, the tough stuff can take up to four hits by .30-06 before it cracks. On the other hand, if the .308 is that much more accurate, I might be able to avoid the armor/plate question entirely. Thank you for your advice, Ben Ghazi.

Fox had a poll up only minutes ago that said exactly that.
A huge part of this is about race and the media. Part of McCain's problem was he couldn't criticize Obama because he was "black". I thought we were past that, but I think a lot of that was still in play after all. Beyond that, the MFM reaches far more people than Fox, or the stuff in cyberspace. They were an overwhelming propaganda machine.
Hell, they managed to portray a complete empty suit as a President, and to demonize a virtual saint.
This was a "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" election. America chose the "shame on me" option. It's a national disgrace.

Apparently I was, I could see no feasible scenario by which Obama could win. It just didn't make rational sense, and all the indicators were of him losing.
Now, I'm convinced that there are some hard core shenanigans going on, but even without them, the election apparently would be incredibly close. And close= Democrat win, every time except one rare moment in time when Bush managed to stop it.
So any way you paint it, my understanding of politics and the nation's leanings was wrong. Completely wrong. So apparently I am in a cocoon. Funny how it doesn't feel very comfortable or safe.

@1009
This will only upset you more, but it makes me so angry I can't help myself.
When my friend and I were seeing this on a TV in a bar/restaurant, some schmuck near the TV starts asking "how's it going?" It took bout 5 back-and-forths to even get at what he was asking, the guy was so "challenged", and I eventually told him "It was called for Obama." This result had been flashed on the screen, off-and-on, righ in front of his face, practically, for 15 minutes.
His goofy girlfriend, lets out some enthusiatic yell, something like, "Yea! Obama!" Waving arms in air.
My buddy says, "Yeah, great. 4 more years of unemployment."
So this jerk starts in, "Oh yeah? Do you even know anybody who's unemployed?" He says. "Yeah, me." Then this guy and his girlfriend start in with some attitude like he's some sort of bum who's not trying to find work (when in truth the guy just got a job offer, and will start next week).
I said, "You know what? We should just thank this guy, because he really explains a lot."
Then this guy starts giving ME an attitude, like he's looking to start a fight, or something. We had finished our beer and wings, and were about to leave anyway, so I just said that I was basically done talking to him, and we left without incident.
So the guy's got enough brain cells to see that he's being insulted, but not enough to see how outrageous it is to be complicit in the unemployment of others, and then harrass them about it.
Like I said. Those two explain everything. Brainwashed nitwits.

I see 2016 being wide open, having a clown car show similar to this year, including a woman (not Bachmann, thankfully, but sadly not Mia Love).
Jeb, Rubio, Santorum, Christie, Rand Paul, Kelly Ayotte and a few others will run.
Some will run on issues only like Paul (obvious) and Ayotte (for the McCain/Graham neocon vote).
Some will be firmly rejected like Bush (the name), Santorum (the socon record), and Christie (the Springsteen/Obama worship).
Rubio v. Cuomo - a great election for America, so long as we drive a stake in the heart of the Clintons beforehand. The Os will be in Hawaii enjoying their time out of the WH - I'm mostly convinced that TFG didn't want to be president again but loved campaigning and the adoration of the crowds.

At first, was obviously annoyed at the 2008 redux percentages, but I assumed the raw vote would be equal and it was just a demographic shift that was the new normal. Hell, Romney equaled Reagan's margins in the non-minority demographic, yet still lost due to minority growth.
But when you look at the raw numbers -- even allowing for the fact that they will be revised up with provisional, etc -- it's not that both sides turned out like 2008 and we just didn't have the ceiling numbers; Romney and Obama each underperformed McCain?!?

Yes there was a clear difference between him and SCOAMF, but in practice are they really that different? Romney's rhetoric didn't add up. He's going to spend more money, cut taxes, and somehow balance the budget? The whole ordeal struck me as business as usual and I think a lot of people felt that way. How many people didn't vote?

I'm with you on Bush and Santorum, but I figure that a) people will flock to the most recognizable name and b) GOP voters, with exception of GWB in 2000, have gone to the runner-up in the previous primary, convincing Santorum ro tun (since Perry is too shaken and Gingrich is too old).
Of course, they will be soundly rejected by the voters.
You're right, though, about Ryan. The losing VP candidate has never had presidential success except for FDR, and it took him 12 years to get that done.
We can't wait 16 years for a Paul Ryan presidency - the country will be Zimbabwe by then

Never a losing VP candidate - won the VP in 1952 and 1956.
Nixon was a losing de facto incumbent, the way Gore was in 2000. Different scenario (and, like Gore, Nixon probably won the popular vote!).
Posted by: The Q at November 07, 2012 12:37 AM (w4fEE)
My calculus is this:
They say "Obama will have to reach across the aisle." That's beyond nuts. He didn't before, and now he has even less accountablilty. He did not have it in him before; it will not emerge now. Not that the suckers in the Republican Party won't give him a chance, and let him screw them.
So there will still be gridlock, and budgets will become a distant memory.
Obama has already declared that he will act where Congress fails to. In other words, he has already told us that he will usurp the power of Congress, writing his own laws through executive order and unaccountable agencies.
So, for the next four years, we will have a de facto dictatorship. Let's hope we're still able to have elections and try to undo this at the end of it.

I think the RNC had its problems, too - I kept getting robocalls from the RNC about voting in Virginia - finally got one yesterday talking about Roanoke County. I live in Texas - never have lived in Roanoke, although I did live in northern VA in 1980!! But they were calling my TEXAS phone number. They certainly wasted enough money on direct mail to my TX address, so it's not like they didn't have half a clue where I was. Tried to send them a msg via the Virginia GOP web site, but it was messed up, too.

Based on what? More likely a lot of libertarian-leaning Republicans sat home and wouldn't vote for a moderate.

This result is the final nail in the coffin for the credibility of Ace of Spades blog. I started reading some 10 odd years ago because it was funny and accurate and told the truth to the readers even when that truth was our side was going to take a beating.
No longer. It's not funny anymore and it's no longer a teller of hard truths. It's a GOP site now. Wishcasting to it's audience as part of the GOTV effort. That's why we are so stunned at this result, because we were fed bullshit that blinded us to what was actually happening. Anyone remember this site's crap about our chances in '08 because I sure do.
And thanks to Ace's revelation a short while ago that he talked up McCains chances on this blog despite knowing the old fool was doomed, I can be pretty sure he just suckered us again. Well fuck that. Fuck your ad revenue, fuck your moderation and fuck your bullshit partisan cheering.
When this blog changed from being one of the outsiders to wanting a seat at the popular kids table it all started failing. Now this is what it's reduced to. Filling the heads of it's reading with GOP bullshit, like we're stupid sheep.
I will never believe another word from this blog that has anything to do with elections.

jimi, you hit the nail on the head. Ace is in business now, and if the best business is selling bullshit to willing customers then that's where he'll go. And has gone. And that's why he can't be believed anymore. He's too willing to listen to bullshit when his GOP sources feed it to him and too willing to pass it on, even when it's suspect. He went from being a truth teller to a story teller, because the pay was better and he attracted an audience that liked to hear his stories.
It didn't used to be like this but the lure of Being Someone was too strong to resist and you can't be Someone when you're calling bullshit on the popular kids. And so now this blog sugar coats it for the willingly stupid. WE are the ones in danger of becoming the Reality Based Community. Ace is making a nice living from this, good for him. But he's done so by selling off what made him great in the begining. Now he's no different from any other GOP partisan. He'll tell us any stories we want to hear, so long as he gets paid.

For years, conservative blogs have ruled discussion of that out of court, saying only that the odds are not too bad yet, in this election, and what real men do is focus on the scandal of the week, the poll of the week, and electioneering.
That approach has failed totally. The Republican Party has to aim at the revival of its supporters, who are 90% White. If it continues to do nothing for its base, things will just get worse, and worse, and worse.
Conservative blogs should not rule out the revival of the White male working class base as "irrelevant" and "not practical" any more.

The polls, even the liberal ones, indicated independents breaking sharply for Romney. Who in their right mind would believe a D+8 electorate again?
I am heartbroken. I cried last night. For Gov Romney. For the country. For my children.
No, Mitt Romney was not a bad candidate. If a good, decent man who visibly loves his country with a stellar business acumen cannot be elected in dire times like this....who could have been? Did he make some mistakes? Sure. Did he have some great moments? Yes. But, I cannot see how anyone else could have done any better.

I think establishment GOP guys will tell Ace and other conservative bloggers to get back on the job selling the same old same old, effectively working for them, personally, while they continue to pursue the policies that allow the hard-line locked-in Democrat vote to creep up to 48%, then 49%, then 50%, then 51%...
Because they don't care. They're just cashing in, and beyond the time frame of their next election they're indifferent. Plus, the party elite is way to the left of the base, because "leftism" is still in favor with with academia, which highly educated but intellectually insecure conservative elites still respect.
What's going on is a colossal sell-out. The interests of an anti-White elite point one way; the interests of the base lie another way. Fundamentally, continuous mass immigration plus forced integration and assimilation is genocidal. It means that the old White ethnic base of conservatism will cease to exist, inevitably. Some people, the future generations of present elites, will be able to get on a plane to Rome or Paris or Jerusalem or London, and leave and have a future as wealthy cosmopolitans. But most won't be able to do that. For most this means that the future for them is a dead end, where neither their genes nor their values will survive.
You have to decide whose side you are really on and what you really want.

Who's paying you? The White House, or the Bushies more like it. Blame the Evangelicals all you want. It's either them or the Jews, right?
A little birdie tells me that we're going to see a lot people on Right blogs bagging on the Evangelicals, and anti-Amnesty people and So Cons. Talking about The Latino Vote and how we need to compromise. Funny that's just the topic of Jeb Bush's new blockbuster political tome. Funny that just before Obamacare was upheld by Grand Master Roberts, it was the same Jeb Bush who penned an Op-Ed in one of the major East Coast papers trumpeting bipartisanship and compromise as the path to stability in the future. Just as the entire world saw that law was about to go down, just when we saw Obamacare lawyers utterly destroyed in their arguments before the Supreme Court and everyone could see the country rejected completely that law and the entire Statist Globalist agenda, it was only Jeb Bush who had the foresight to see reality- that we need to compromise and accommodate ourselves to it.
This country was all geared up to toss that ghoulish imposter out of the White House yesterday. We all know it. Everyone even the Dem spokesliars showed it in their faces when even they couldn't lie enough to hide it. Now they're going to try to make us forget what we saw right in front of our eyes.
As if the Scott Walker blowout didn't happen just five months ago.
Watch the blogs for these trolls and what they say. Listen to the Medveds and the "compromise" line that they've been paid to dish out. How we need to move away from these entrenched Conservative positions in the name of "gettin stuff done".
This election was a fraud and those numbers are false.
"Barack Obama" is a completely fraudulent identity. He was created to perform a certain job and he's been kept in office to see it through.

We could have really used a man like Romney at the helm for the coming crises but looks like we'll have to make do with Obama, personally I'm not optimistc that Obama has learned any lessons from his first term and so he will most likely fail. There will be plenty of 'I told you so' moments for republicans in the next 4 years and I suspect the Obama and Dem brand will be damaged goods by 2016, like republicans and Bush were in 2008.

However, how do you think one cobbles together a victory with a declining demographic? That's the part that mystifies me.
-
I'm glad to start with at least partial agreement.
The demographic decline of the White working class male is not a natural thing, it's a political thing. It was produced by policies that drive up the cost of raising a family, make it harder for Whites to get jobs that could support a family, and tougher to compete with ongoing mass immigration, which just swamps the Whites.
The GOP needs to fight to overturn those policies. It needs to make it 100% clear to its supporters that in getting a job, in raising a family, in getting promoted and in every way, your party the GOP is on your side.
Also, the GOP needs a more practical attitude. When Reagan took power, he refused to stack all federal agencies with his supporters, because he said he was there to drain the swamp, not control it. Well the swamp didn't get drained and the left controls it. The GOP needs to struggle to control institutions, and it needs to play the jobs for the boys game for real, and better than the left does.

The GOP does nothing with ideas like this. They don't fight for institutions, they don't try to reduce the freebies that their proven enemies get, and they cooperate in driving down the demographic support base of conservatism, the White working class male, with genocidal levels of mass immigration.
I advocate that the GOP abandon the Jonah Goldberg theory that liberals are for particular groups of people, while conservatives are for "everybody" (which really means, for nobody).
Struggle to grow that support base! Help the working class White male so he can help you. (Above all, help him get and stay married, it makes huge difference.) Try to take over institutions, the way the left has - start stacking academia at every opportunity - you might not win, but try as hard as you can every time. And repeal the Hollywood tax cuts, and all other tax-funded freebies for leftists.
This would be completely different from and much more practical than what the GOP has done. What the GOP has been doing has hit a dead end.

If it's true that these are the actual numbers, then I haven't seen a scam run like that was this damn obvious.
The counting for most of the states is reported at 99% complete. Most of the rest are counted 90-98% complete. Oregon and Colorado are around 70% counted. It impossible that votes remaining to be counted could add up to 18.5 million. Not to mention there should be a sizable increase in the total votes cast as opposed to 2008.
I'm also interested in any comments on this.

I want people to see that the GOP routine of the last few decades is like a wrecked car with its nose against a big wall, and in the wall is painted: END OF THE ROAD.
It's time for fundamental thinking, for rejecting conventional lies, and for deciding who you stand for and what you care about.
Personally, I'm ardently, absolutely pro-life. But I see the end of the road.
There are so many other things that I would like to be better that I can now see are not going to be better.
The house is burning, much will be lost, and some things are too heavy to move, even if I would not have willingly abandoned them.
Everybody has to decide what their bottom line is.

I'm a Party of Lincoln Republican who believes founding principles transcend superficial attributes such as skin color and ethnicity. We go down the dark road you advocate and we become just another tribal demographic, doomed to extinction. As a people, a nation, we're either about freedom or we're about nothing at all, and will soon dissolve into warring factions fighting for an ever-dwindling number of scraps.
