Romney: I Intend To Spur The US Into An "Energy Superpower"
— Ace

He has this bizarre arch-conservative idea that we get growth and jobs from producing things, rather than restraining and sabotaging production.

Sounds crazy. I'll wait for Paul Krugman to knock holes in it before I accept this preposterous notion.

The one thing i never see them talk about is that when we invest in our own energy production the money we spend on not only developing the industry but also purchasing the product stays in our economy.

When we buy oil from overseas, that money goes out of our economy.

I'd rather see domestically produced refined petroleum products sold to them, but in the meantime, of course not.  We have the raw materials and refining capacity, and should take advantage of both.  If there's an interim period where we sell them back their oil after our expertise and hard work make it useable, we should certainly take advantage.  Look at Iran - there's way more leverage, politically, in refined products than in crude, since the capacity is so much more scarce.

Mitt has the ONLY path to true recovery we have.

No bullshit, no lies.

The US HAS GOT TO GROW.

We need to crank the EPA regs back to 1994, and we need to beat the Sauds' heada in with shale.  We relax our debt load selling shale oil to the chinese and others, and renew investment in a new industrial age in the US.  Growth, youeither want it or you don't.

Me I want it so I maxed my donations to Mitt.

I hope you give what you can your vote, your smile and peer presure, your time volunteering, your money whatever you can.

The schools are turning out kids who will need trained and need taught how to work.

If we as a nation wait too much longer you boomers who remember who we used to be will be gone like our grandpas are.  We need your memories of when we were mighty.  Together anything is possible.

By God I am an American, and when we see a problem we are supposed to look hard and say "We are Americans and we do MIGHTY THINGS."

Keep the faith and on to victory.

What better way to do that...than to help nudge the price of gas up to $6....$7....$8....?

Then, when people are screaming..."Do something! Do something!"....they will say:

However, Romney has said he will not renew expiring tax credits for wind farms, so that's one in the plus column.

The goal -- and this would put fear into all of the Russkies and Muslims - should be to become a NET energy EXPORTER in 5 years.  (Hey Greenies... since the 3rd world can't afford to go green, then the U.S. should help them with cheap fossil fuels til they can develop their green tech too, no?)

By the way, as someone who is in the science of energy (moi), I can tell you that any significant move in which our energy is majority green-made  is 20-30 years away from implementaion-- maybe even a decade or 2 more.
