Romney Internal Poll: We're Up By One In Wisconsin
— Ace

I meant to link this as part of the last post, but I forgot, because my brain is stupid and filled with dumbness.

But here it is.

FL, VA, and CO are looking very solid for Romney. NV remains within reach for Romney, but favors Obama ever-so-slightly.

WI, MI, IA, PA seem to be closing well for Romney. In WI, internal GOP polling shows Romney with a 1 point lead and gaining steam.

3 I think the actual polling isn't as important as what Team Obama thinks it is. Every state they're forced to play defense on between now and Tuesday raises the odds that they let Romney rack up the election-winning 270 EVs, if not more. If the rantings of Denver's mayor are any indication, Team Obama is scared shitless of what's going on in Wisconsin.

Evidently this is State law. http://www.pdcouncil.state.wi.us/voting2.htm A friend of mine was going to stand in a long line with her mother at the City/County building downtown Madison and they told she could go out and get in her car. 86 Nevada Early Vote Update (12th day of 14) After the 12th day of early voting, the Democrats have a lead of 40K raw voter numbers over Republicans; this shrinks to less than 37K when absentees that have been turned-in already are included. After ten day of early voting in 2008, the Democrats had an advantage of 70K in Clark County. The Democrats raw vote advantage is down 77% in Clark County from 2008, though the total number of votes has increased by about 15%, relative to four years ago. This results in a 67% reduction in their vote advantage compared to 2008 for early voting. Absentees are coming in at about 15% of the early votes. At this 67% reduction in advantage for the Democrats, their projected early vote lead will be about 13.6%, or about 62K in Clark County. Assuming that early votes are about 70% of the total vote, and with an 80% turnout, this would give a lead for the Democrats in Clark County at about 75K Washoe county continues to trend towards being an overall wash (pun intended) with a less than 1000 vote difference between Republicans and Democrats. The strong GOP turnout amongst the rural counties id the only thing that is blunting the Democratic raw vote advantage in Clark County of about 54K. With Washoe coming in about even, and the rural counties coming in at perhaps 25K in favor of the Republicans total, this would result in the Democrats having a raw vote lead of 50K. With an 80% turnout, this would result in a lead for Obama of just over 5%. This is good news for Sen. Dean Heller, who has been polling 4-6% ahead of Auton-American Shelley Berkley (D – Nestene Consiousness). All of the above assumes that 2012 trends like in 2008 (with Democrat vote advantage shrunk to 67%, and 115% of the early voters). If the last two days for early voting are decent for the Republicans, the projected raw vote lead of 50K could shrink. This also does not take into account a potential increase in absentee ballots, which don’t have to be in until election day, and would almost certainly benefit the Republicans, who have an edge in absentee ballots in and reported of over 3000 votes. An improvement in the ground game on election day would further narrow the Democrats raw voter lead. At that point, who get what percent of each parties or independents vote starts to really matter. I knew that Sandy and Chris Christie had swung momentum back to Obama with mushy swing voters, and this confirmed it.

Everyone's got their head stuck in their ass complimenting ourselves on where we were a week ago. The ground's changed.

We're losing.

96 Ras has Ohio 50-48 Romney. Good enough for me. Unfortunately, he also has Brown winning. Ras has also been cautious this cycle. I think he's underestimating R turnout, but that's only a gut feeling. Ignore all "University" polls. They're done on the cheap and there is no harm to them if they're wrong. A real polling firm has actual clients that pay real money for their surveys.

97 Romney has a terrific GOTV operation. Election day I will be in my precinct checking off voters who come in and relaying to team Mitt. Then to courthouse to watch and report the returns. Any shenanigans and the lawyers get a call.

I don't blame them for being nervous about WI, but what seems incredibly stupid is to keep going to Madison, as if there's only one friggin' county in the state. Obama does have Dane County in the bag. Why not go to northern Wisconsin, where he doesn't have a lock on the vote? Or the Milwaukee 'burbs? Does he have to keep visiting WI to ensure that those boneheaded undergrads will turn out on Tuesday? Seems as stupid a move, given the time constraints as sending the mayor of Denver to Milwaukee to campaign when nobody in Milwaukee knows or cares about the mayor of Denver.

I love this guy. Like talking to a wall. Has yet to explain how Christie switching parties would actually work, just pretends we all agree and moves on.

177 165 >>> Click the link. Ohio is mentioned and still considered too close to call. Ace choose not to include that in his quote. Ace knows this is "buck up the troops time" like he did in the last days of the McCain campaign, and then wrote a post-election post about how he was lying to keep up morale. Ace is worried about Sandy's (and to a lesser degree Christy's) effects with last-minute low-info swing voters too. We're in much better shape than we were in '08. Romney's a better candidate. Ryan's a better veep pick. And Obama has a crappy record and recent scandal to weigh him down. The question is, how much is Romney up compared to McCain? I think he was over Obama a few days ago, and now that's less clear. Posted by: Samwise Gamgee The Third at November 01, 2012 06:36 PM (SKX2R) Rasmussen hasn't changed. Still shows Romney +2 nationally. Gallup went away due to the hurricane. The only difference is that we're being bombarded with BS university polls that say Dem turnout will be more than it was in 2008.

178 177 Well, Benghazi certainly proved that.

179 But momentum has shifted back to the President with low-info voters
somewhat because of Chris Christie and Obama's stupid bomber jacket
antics
=============
So stupid. So very stupid.

Vapid stupidity conjured from the ether.

It's all GOTV now. TV means nothing. The JEF won 2008 by racking up huge totals in early voting and absentee voting. Election day voting was far closer.

All absentee ballots have been sent out. In Albuquerque there were some 75k absentee ballots cast in 2008; in 2012 less than 41k were even requested.

Most early voting is long done. And I haven't heard of a single Obama county where he's anywhere close to meeting his totals for 2008. In Albuquerque, 101k early votes have been cast vs. 125k for 2008.

183 Well I'll tell you point blank from jersey that right now christie is god, and the JEF don't even factor. Obama used us as a campaign stunt, and Christie shook him down for a ton of cash. Thats all we see. Christie made a ton of smart moves before the storm even hit that no doubt saved my house and a shitload of houses in other areas. He already had power companies from other states on their way before the storm hit, and they have been kicking ass too. They restored power to over a million customers from just last night to this afternoon. I was 6" of water level away from losing the house during irene, and this time around my sump pit was bone dry. Christie took all the lessons learned from irene and had made a lot of smart changes to how the dams and reservoirs work. The dude is kicking ass, and he endorses Mitt, and nobody on the street is talking obama.

184 >>>"So he's got to make his move now, and the fact that he hates Romney for passing him over as veep is eating away at his emotional little heart." This is what is known as a hypothesis. A guess for testing against the evidence, which will come in over the coming months and years. I wouldn't even give my hypothesis 50% likelihood, but I'd give it a non-trivial likelihood given Christie's behavior, his emotional tendencies, and other facts I mentioned in my prior relevant comments. What aren't conjecture and are facts is that Sandy happened, is a big deal, voters tend to rally towards leadership in crisis, Obama is doing his job for once if only as an electoral tactic, Christie is giving him major bi-partisan kudos (and hugs) for that, swing voters go gaga at this bi-partisan thing, and this has all knocked Obama's snowballing ethical and leadership scandal off what little of the media radar it was. These are all facts.

190 >>>Posted by: Ryan West at November 01, 2012 06:41 PM Hopefully. I am giving the polls weight because they match my expectation, in advance of the polling, of what would happen given Sandy, and also my thoughts about what Christie's behavior would do (although it's much less significant than Sandy itself: I just happen to hate Chris Christie right now, so I think it's worth mentioning so that people don't forgive him and give him a pass in 4 years).

I actually believe Chris Christie might be lining himself up for a party switch, to run for the top of the Democratic ticket.

Buttressed perhaps by a term as Holder's replacement at AG.

I doubt he'll switch parties. Christie should have told him to stay home instead of providing a Greek column To support him, yes I borrowed that from Rush,

202 Chris Christie.....oh wtf....trying to stay positive here. My instincts want to say he is kissing BooBoo's scrawny ass so he is buried by the fallout from Sandy. Talking from experience here...those peeps in NJ are going to be loosing their patience big time. That mess is not going away any time soon....and no offense to anybody living there...but you guys just aren't use to waiting. I wouldn't want to be in Christie's shoes for anything. The mob rule will come after him when it goes into week 2 with no power, etc. Last report was Coast Guard was not allowing fuel to be dumped in locations due to damage infastructure. He is just throwing FEMA $$$ at them right now. Question is....where are they going to spend it? Sad situation.

Anyone else notice that Samwise is parroting, almost word for word, the same concern trolling that gumbypokey spews over in the Hotair comments?

207 Ugh. I didn't even realize that Willam Jacobson, lead blogger at Legal Insurrection, agrees with my thesis in the main: "We need to focus on getting out the vote big time. Sandy has been the perfect political storm for Obama. ItÂ’s like calling three consecutive time outs before we were about to kick the winning field goal." http://goo.gl/toc6a Like me, he agrees the only thing to do about it GOTV. Like me, he also agrees it's a real deal. Yes, I realise the Sunshine brigade would like to think we've got it in the bag. But our side is frequently guilty of overoptimism (as is probably their side too: the "optimism bias" is a normal and well-understood part of human psychology, by people who study such things). I -- as much as I try to suppress my own optimism when analyzing things -- still overestimated GOP performance in the last 3 elections straight. To say the least, this site's commenters got that wrong. Lots of you were going with the 100-pickup Morris Scenario in '10, and in '08, you badgered Ace into unrealistic optimism so much he had to lie his ass off to you during the election's closing days to maintain his readership base. Then after the election, he wrote a Mea Culpa post admitting he did lie about his predictions. >>>Anyone else notice that Samwise is parroting, almost word for word, the same concern trolling that gumbypokey spews over in the Hotair comments? >>>Posted by: Concern Troll Oh yes. Word for word. http://bit.ly/TVswMG --- Question for Secretary of Defense Panetta: US casualties during the entire air operation in Libya and against their organized national military forces were precisely zero. Are you saying the risk to manned American air assets was just too high to fly them to Benghazi in defense of the Ambassador, the consulate, and the CIA annex with Americans inside? Follow-up question for Secretary Panetta: Is it your contention that it would have been irresponsible for America's air assets to take a risk to defend our Ambassador and citizens, yet the risk they took during thousands of missions to assist the Libyan rebels' military operations was justified? Follow-up to the follow-up: During the Libyan operation when we sent our air assets to strike Libyan targets, did we generally have a drone overhead providing real-time video, personnel on the ground lasing the target, and real-time video feed from buildings near the target itself? Follow-up to the follow-up to the follow-up: If so, what additional intelligence did we have in those cases that was greater than the intelligence we had on 9/11, 2012? Why were those air missions undertaken, but not a mission in defense of our own personnel in Benghazi? --- Question for the President: Why did Libyan rebels get air support, and American citizens not get air support? --- 'll just add that FINALLY someone said it. I despised Obama so much 4 years ago that I took months off from the rest of my life to do what little I could to see he didn't come into office. I even deluded myself into thinking we had a chance to stop him at the last minute. This editorial is right -- Obama is a disgrace to the office. http://bit.ly/Vgy7Dt --- ... and I could find hundreds of similar comments from myself if I had to. @ "Concern Troll" and others like you. I know you actually believe what you're saying, but you're an idiot. You're not a very smart person. You're confusing your emotional feelings of how the world ought to be with analysis, and accusing your own allies of being your enemies just because you're not smart enough to see the difference. Nonetheless, thanks for your vote. GOTV.

The Democrats control Pennsylvania by controlling Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.  The Republican control the rest of the state.  If Democrats in Philadelphia stay home, Republicans may win the state. We will see.

Pennsylvania is the home of the first oil well.  Large numbers of Pennsylvanians work in the coal and oil industries even today.  The same is also true for those in West Virginnia and eastern Ohio.  Obama's war on coal and oil can not have helped him.
