Romney Leads Obama 49-44...
— CAC

In Maine's 2nd Congressional District.

You all want a real white whale? the 2nd Congressional District is the ultimate, long rumored to be more Republican than the rest of the Land of Snowe, and thanks to redistricting, it apparently is. Maine is only one of two states that awards electoral votes to congressional district winners, the other is Nebraska, which gave McCain his final election 2008 kick-in-the-balls by awarding the 2nd district's EV to President Obama.

Obama leads in the statewide poll 48%-44%, still very close.

Flipping this would almost make up for Obamaha in 2008.

Almost.

70 I live in the Me-2 and Im not sure of this. Not to be a buzzkill. This dist is heavily gerrymandered by the Dems. The far north is French heritage mill workers who if they did abandon Obama would be a shocker. And the far south of the dist is mill town Lewiston with a heavy concentration of elders who have always voted D. The rest of the state is rural and certainly Romney territory, it has always been a "white whale" for us. I worked the Bush 2004 Campaign here and it was heavily organized and we still couldnt grab the 2nd. This time..no real Romney effort here. They have no camp office, except running it out of a Bangor office used by other Republican candidates.

I love the idea, but not sure of the reality.
