Romney to Obama: What About Your Gaaaffes?
— Ace

Good appearance -- a little bit of fire -- from Romney, questioning Obama's curious new excuse that he just can't change things "on the inside."

"Isn't that amazing?" Romney asks rhetorically. (Incidentally, Romney sounds good, at least to me, in using this sort of phrasing, which strikes me as old-fashioned, but appealingly so. It's deployed with sarcasm to give it that new-fangled feel.)

Meanwhile, Governor Rick Perry joins those with messages for Obama written on their hands.

If you check Drudge's headline--

FIRST SERIOUS INTERVIEW:
PRESSED ON FAILURES BY UNIVISION

you'll see it's calculated to embarrass the media. Will it? I have this weird hopeful streak that they cannot look themselves in the mirror being such godawful shills, and yet they're okay with it, aren't they?

We see what happens when Obama's asked some difficult questions: He screws up. The reason we don't see this often is not that he is a cognitive high evolutionary; it's because he's never asked difficult questions. Questions about wedge issues. With follow-ups. With contradictions.

When he is asked these -- which, fortunately for him, he never is -- he stumbles like, what was that phrase I heard one time?, a Stuttering Clusterf**k of a Miserable Failure.

The press is big on gaaaaffes when it comes to Romney. Hey, maybe ask the Bumbleflop Incompetent in the Oval Office a tough question from time to time and check out the pure failure that comes tumbling out of his mouth, huh?

As I have said before, the effort by the Republicans to create the idea that Obama is an outsider has never been more apparent.

54 The Univision interview was quite refreshing.  And no, the MFM presstitutes will not be shamed.  They now know that Obama is not that smart, is incredibly lazy (and always has been), schooled only in leftist memes and generalities.  That is why his WH pressers are scripted with pre-ordained questions and questioners.  The presstitutes "built that" and have to defend it.  They do and they will.

IOW, they are a bunch of dishonest/lying, elitist, self-important, anti-American suckers of TFG's cock.

They are addicts, in every sense of the word, they will rationalize that one more hit isn't that bad, isn't going to be the one that ruins them, over and over, puff piece after hit piece, they won't kick the habit until they hit rock bottom.

277 Good appearance -- a little bit of fire -- from Romney, questioning Obama's curious new excuse that he just can't change things "on the inside." "Isn't that amazing?" Romney asks rhetorically. (Incidentally, Romney sounds good, at least to me, in using this sort of phrasing, which strikes me as old-fashioned, but appealingly so. It's deployed with sarcasm to give it that new-fangled feel.) As I said on an earlier thread: This afternoon ABC News radio proclaimed Romney's response to Obama's statement was a meaningless attack over a topic the public didn't care about. Without directly saying it, they heavily implied it was a desperate attempt by a discombobulated Romney campaign grasping at straws. The MFM is drinking Barak's jism by the gallon. It' far past time to pay them no mind. People are gonna vote their wallets, which are currently empty. This election is the final battle by the MFM to prove they can move public opinion like chess pieces. They're putting it all on the line. When their effort fails the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be a thing to behold and rejoice in.

The more I dig into the polls on UnSkewed, the more I understand what they're doing, and have more belief in the numbers - I'll admit it's still hard to believe they're as high as they are, but I *want* to.  Their results are entirely dependent on Rasmussen's turnout model, so the major weakness is putting all their eggs in that one basket and assuming the Ras model is correct  They need to make that info available on the front page - it would be fun to see them get some traction.

316 As of 2010, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrats (tying a 22-year low), 29% as Republicans, and 38% as independents.[3] By 2011 Gallup found that Americans identifying as independents had risen to 40 percent. Gallup's historical data show that the proportion of independents in 2011 was the largest in 60 years. This increase came at the expense of Republican identification, which dropped to 27%, while Democratic identification held steady from 2011. Nevertheless, more American independents leaned to the Republican Party when compared to the Democratic Party. Combining leaners with each party's core identifiers, for 2011 the parties ended up tied at 45 percent.[4] In 2011 Gallup found seventeen states safely Republican or leaning Republican, up from 10 in 2010 and 5 in 2008. A total of 19 states (including the District of Columbia) were safe or leaning Democratic, down from 23 in 2010 and 36 in 2008. Gallup observed that the "greatest movement away from the Democratic Party came between 2009 and 2010, when the number of states with a Democratic advantage fell from 34 to 23". In 15 states no party had a clear political advantage for 2011. Gallup concluded that "President Obama faces a much less favorable environment as he seeks a second term in office than he did when he was elected president."[5]

No, thank you for bringing attention to the site.  I still have concerns with their using only a single voter turnout model, but as the HEwokIC says, we're ahead of the curve around here.  If the Rasmussen turnout numbers end up accurately predicting the vote, then UnSkewed is ahead of the polling curve.

382 It's probably just me, but when I see how Obama has handled some of these big issues in the past several months, I really do think he's trying to lose. That $35 million shack in Hawaii would certainly tempt me. It appears that, in the last few days, Romney has started to return to the boldness that he showed just after announcing Ryan as his running mate. I hope he keeps his eye on the clock and realizes that there are no more days to waste in the crouch position. Separately, I noticed that Drudge has continued to update the picture linked to the Univision interview story. At first, I wasn't that crazy with the one that's up there now, but when I noticed how Obama's right hand is protecting his man-parts, it tells me that this interview really did live up to Drudge's billing of "first serious interview". Talk about body language!!

I wouldn't say its unthinkable.  Its probably going to happen even if R/R win.  I'm not seeing the kind of discipline, or recognition of our situation, in D.C. that's needed to pull this out.

What I see is a horse race between doom, and actual recovery, where recovery requires unwinding 80 years worth of bad policy, and that's probably not going to happen before doom takes the lead.

Chick-fil-A Sets the Record Straight by Karla Dial

In response to media reports that Chick-fil-A has agreed to stop making charitable donations to groups like Focus on the Family, the company today released a statement to set the record straight.

Contrary to reports first made by the gay-activist group The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA) on Tuesday and later picked up by mainstream media outlets, Chick-fil-A and its charitable-giving arm, the WinShape Foundation, did not agree to stop making donations to groups that support the biblical definition of marriage in exchange for being allowed to open a franchise in Chicago.

“For many months now, Chick-fil-A’s corporate giving has been mischaracterized,” executives said in today’s statement. “And while our sincere intent has been to remain out of this political and social debate, events from Chicago this week have once again resulted in questions around our giving. For that reason, we want to provide some context and clarity around who we are, what we believe and our priorities in relation to corporate giving.

“A part of our corporate commitment is to be responsible stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. Because of this commitment, Chick-fil-A’s giving heritage is focused on programs that educate youth, strengthen families and enrich marriages, and support communities. We will continue to focus our giving in those areas. Our intent is not to support political or social agendas.

471 I have been hearing all day long on the news radios while listening to rush and sean and whoever else came on, during the news breaks from local affiliates,

the cut to abc nes announcer and they are insisting the economy is so much better and romney is falling behind.

THey keep hammering it....Econmy is getting better!

Economy Finally bottomed out and its all up from here!

Romney is falling behind!

Obama solidifying his lead!

You like COck andwant to suckee suckee.!

Eat more Ovaltine!

Obama Obama Obama!

Its hilarious, and fucking annoyng at the same time.

I think they shoudl add an angry man voice screaming in the distant background "WHO ARE YOU GONNA BELIEVE? US OR YOUR OWN DAMN LYIN EYES?" every time they say the Economy is doing so much better and Romney is falling behind and Obama is pulling ahead.

474 Well I should preface my optimism by saying that my Plan A is to be in Australia in 5 months

Australia is my 1st choice exit strategy too.  I'm planning on making the move within the next few years.  Australia will probably wind up being the core that remains stable and re-seeds western civilization.  The place is pretty self-contained when it comes to food and general raw materials for industry.

I think the Russians will fare pretty well too, but its too cold there for my taste.  After the Soviet collapse, they pulled back to a sustainable core, and they're used to hardship.  The Aussies are used to relatively spartan living too.

Americans have grown soft, they won't accept that 20 years of hardship and restraint are what's needed to erase the problems.  They'll trash the joint in a fit of rage instead.  I don't want to be here when that happens.

484 Hey, thanks BB!

I found an error in my model today that was putting too much variation into the reweighting (used x/y instead of (1=x/y) on the Inds).  The final results didn't move much.  I included Pew and AP/GfK into the average.  With Rasmussen going from R+3 to O+2 though, it moved the average down 1 to even.

It's all tied up for the moment.

Again, I make no allowance for enthusiasm.

Honey Badger @ 97, you are on to something about the flag thing.

Picture a 30-second TV spot thus.  Image of the idiotic "Obama flag".  Voice-over:  "this is the flag the president and his party want you to rally to on November 6".  (fade to black, return slowly to image of Old Glory flapping the breeze .... then fade to photo of flag-draped casket at Arlington ... then to an old veteran and his grandson at attention/saluting a flag .....) Voice-over:  "THIS is the flag most Americans, my party, and my team want you to rally to.  If you give me the privilege of serving as your president, I will defend and honor that flag, and the republic for which it stands, to the utmost of my ability.  I am Mitt Romney, and I approve this message".
