What I want to know is, if Mrs. Biden is a doctor of education, and Mr. Biden is Vice President of the United States, why is it that with their combined incomes they cannot manage to give more than $300 bucks a year to charity? Heck, if you drop a ten dollar bill in the collection plate every Sunday, it comes out to more than that.

If an abortion can be considered in the case of a tubal pregnancy [where the mother's life is threatened],” said host Charles Jaco, “what about in the case of rape? Should it be legal or not?”
“First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Akin said about pregnancy from rape. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
Akin continued on to suggest that when those protections fail, abortion shouldnÂ’t be an available course of action for the victim.

Look just say the courts have already decided the legality of abortion. While i think it should be handled at the state level and not the federal, until that changes there is no point in debating legality any more than there is in discussing what will happen in Obama's third term.

Hey Moron,
Pay Attention:
1) Palin visited the Villages after Her incredible Convention Speech in
the middle of the full on campaign season. Paul Ryan visited before the
convention has even taken place and before full on convention season.
2) Palin is a remarkable speaker. She knew how to connect with the crowd unlike anyone since well...2008 Barack Obama, and by the time she visited the Villages, her reputation preceded her.
3) Paul Ryan is no Palin, he is not a motivational presence, he is a policy wonk.
4) Paul Ryan does not have boobs, although if you like moobs, he has a damn good looking pair from what could be seen under that t-shirt.
5) The Media
was in full on demonization mode on Palin by the time she came to the
Villages, and the conservative base was in full on defend palin mode by
then. That hasn't started with Ryan yet.
Lastly) A person like Palin
comes along once in a generation if you are lucky. You can be a Rhino
shit and claim what every you want, Fuck just slap a D on your forehead
while doing it, but she transformed the race, and since then has been
fighting tirelessly for conservative values. The fact that so many weak
minded shits on the R side of the aisle joined their D fuckbuddies and
Cocktail circuit dinner pals in trashing her (I am talking to you Noonon
you heinous old prune and you Frum you corksoaking rhino) does not
change the fact that she was the only reason many people voted for that
limp dicked whimp who wanted us to fight with him when he had already
surrendered and who birthed that blight upon humanity twinkie eating tub
of lard that thinks she actually has something worth contributing to
the political dialogue - further proof that peroxide kills brain
cells...And she was imminently more qualified than Mclame Bidez or
Obamao to run this country...but i am glad the ticket lost...America
needed to get a real good taste of hope and change so we could hopefully
correct course for another 20 years after ala Reagan.
...just sayin...

They're not mutually exclusive. From what I've seen, he's probably capable of growing into a persuasive public speaker. He's not afraid of crowds or a stage, and his voice characteristics are suited to public speaking, and he doesn't need a prompter.
If you're a policy wonk, then you're comfortable presenting difficult shit using analogies, simplifications, visual aids, etc because you have to develop that skill...because most of the time, you're presenting to, and trying to persuade imbeciles. As dim as the American public can be sometimes, they're often quicker to grasp essentials than the dolts in congress are.

And you make a medically provably false statement that women can't get pregnant from rape?
You just tossed this race in the trash with that statement. The Donkey's will hang that on you from now till November. Not that you're against abortion so much as that you are stupid and uninformed about biology.
I'm against abortion myself but at least I'm not fricking STUPID about it. And if you actually believe what you said you are certifiably stupid. Or, giving you the benefit of the doubt, massively ignorant about human physiology. But still stupid for making that statement in public during a political campaign.
I'm still going to vote for you. Obamacare has to be repealed for this country to survive and the only way that can happen is with a strong R majority in both houses.

Its not gonna happen in my lifetime, because polling shows ~70% of the public is OK with things as they are today so that states majority will never be formed.

As a matter of principle, Obama is now enforcing the Photo ID requirement to attend his campaign events just to show how discriminatory it really is. If it wasn't for that, there would be untold thousands waiting in line to hear the Master speak his wisdom.

"Tarkanian was polling 20 points over Reid, Angle, not so much."
Completely accurate, I have relatives in NV, dems, and they cannot stand Harry Reid, and were favoring Tarkanian or even the other lady -- I forget her name -- than comes Sharron Angle and they went right back to Reid after all the things Angle said, people who have been liberals or lean liberal aren't going to change overnight, a ship making a sharp turn like that breaks, and repubs keep making this same stupid mistake. First Angle, now Akin.
I cannot believe repubs in MO went for Akin, and he makes this dumba$$ statement, I am so pissed, I'm not giving him a dime. He couldn't shut his mouth until November?? I'm not even that socially conservative but I want fiscal sanity which is why I was willing to donate a lot to him -- especially to beat idiot Claire, but I know how this will play out, this interview will not just be used in MO, it will be used by the DNC. Stupid, absolutely stupid. A winnable seat and the idiot Akin couldn't keep his damn mouth shut until November. Couldn't keep the focus on just the jobs, economy, ObamaCare.

you have to get enough votes to block filibuster pass the house and have a president to sign it dude....
ever take civics?
at the state level you can try to pass state laws outlawing even third trimester abortions in all cases....
do me a favor and let me know how the federal courts rule on those when it sees them....
now quick YOU tell me how a guy so retarded he shoots himself in the ball with weapons grade fucktard is "helping save babies" by scaring women...
yeah exactly....
and as an aside Fuck You again for trying to cast me as such a pussy I am defacto pro choice.
My position on abortion in the end is between God and I you are not invites to the party.
You can argue against my methodology as often as you'd like but I refuse to let YOU question my heart on the issue.
My wife had a fucking pregnancy I had to have aborted because I was broke and had to pay out of pocket and we didn't find out until we were at the clinic that the baby was malformed because she is missing a fallopian tune and part of her uterus and the implant went wrong anyway. She had a nonviable baby forming.
I have lost 4 kids to abortion from my ex who did not even let me know she was pregnant or nuked them and my wife and I went through 10 miscarriages to get one child and the best OB/GYN at John's Hopkins told me literally after a miscarriage we had on my son's second Birthday that my son was probably 1 in 20,000.
See this is a fucking charged issue sport and we just had a fucking retard make our case and the biased fucking media will clobber us.
I dream of 14 never babies lowandslow....I cry for them when I wake up in terror....
so again nice fucking job Morality cop would you like my phone number so you can demonize my active duty wife who lost 8 of those pregnancies on active fucking duty?
I will let this go on the "moral battlefield" if you will but acknowledge it is more complex than "it is WRONG LET'S END IT NOW!" please.

My mom miscarried in december of 1970 and delivered a stillborn 6-8 month old child that my Father named our name with jr. as the suffix...
when my mom delivered me my dad was going to give me the same name as my older brother bore....she forced herself upright to scream and beg no, no the IId please please...
so I have the experience of building the house I was born in and seeing my headstone had he gone through with jr.

Yeah I must have missed the direct narrative from God to kill yourself to write a wrong. To aid evil in gaining power over man to try to stand on a moral principle that is God's realm.
Must have missed that one.
We will win this by showing we are reasonable, and by funding science that tracks development.
The best we ever get may be that you do not get to harm a child past brain activity and viability, but after 40 or so million dead US babies I will happily "settle" for that.
If God demands I let the democrat win in perpetuity he can send me a sign.
Otherwise I will work within Caesar's realm to change the law.

Dagny? What happened w Dagny?
---
Several weeks ago, there was a thread having a racial component. There was also one or more trolls who were posting truly racist comments thus angering Ace. Dagny had the misfortune, just prior to Ace's outburst, to post a comment making an unfavorable reference to the weight of a welfare recipient (or something like that, I've forgotten the details). Ace viewed this as an over the line comment demeaning a class of people. In actuality, Dagny was not referring to a class of people but rather to a particular person in the news who had made an obnoxious comment and whose weight Dagny may have exaggerated but who evidenced no lack of enjoyment of food in Michael Moorian/Roseanne Barrian quantities. Ace called her out for insensitive stereotyping or some such and Dagny was hurt. She voluntarily stopped posting. We all hope that this is a mere cooling off period and not a permanent condition. It was more of a misunderstanding that anything.

I asked my wife, who cannot stand Claire what she thought of this statement. My wife is still a registered dem, she is not pro-life, however she is not pro-abortion, doesn't believe in late term abortion etc. I try to gauge her reaction as to what many women in her line of thinking will think when listening to Akin.
She thinks Akin was an idiot for saying what he said -- but she wasn't surprised as he is socially very conservative, then said his/RNC's apology she thought was very good, still thinks Steelman would have been a better candidate -- my wife is a fan of Palin's which is why she likes Steelman (more women in congress), or even Brunner. Then she predicted that the DNC will use this as they always do, but she cannot stand Claire M. so is willing to overlook this stupid statement due to Akin/RNC's quick "clarification", and then she said, Akin better not say something this stupid again and stick to the real issues people care about, jobs, economy etc.

Ours was on the origin of sin. Turns out it was derived from the German "azund" or something like it. As in "rent asunder". Thus, sin is to separate, to set apart from one's fellow man and God because of bad behavior. I thought it was a very interesting sermon, but maybe that's just me.

The risk we are running as a Military Family is the cessation of my wife's career by sequester. Not a high order of probability but it is there, but I decided to use our resources to fight hard once Mitt chose Ryan because I felt it was the best combination, and not one I would have wanted last year, to fight this evil we face. It is evil by the way that we face, the modern liberal is a fascist at heart.
If it is obvious we are losing I am getting my CDL to lay the groundwork for the higher risk loss of my wife's 15 year career, and deciding between Texas, The Rockies, or Alberta as "what comes next". I strongly encourage everyone to decide what your order of priority is on values and how mobile you are in trying to maximize your chances of weathering the next four years.
Things may happen quickly on my end so if I am gone too long or I make my snap judgement and forget to say "adios" or "'til we meet again" for a long stretch it has always been a mixed pleasure but a pleasure for your company.

Barack is going to work hard if he wins to wreck our way of life, the greatness of our nation is NOT in our unity as regards anything but freedom. Unity and the demand for it is a very dangerous thing in a system like ours and I have been harder than in the post admonishing people to put down their priorities and unify behind this candidate to stop the President. It would be my sincere joy to not be so afraid of him I did not have to bargain on this principle but the man is not an American in the sense his primary loyalty in to codified envy.
Plan accordingly.
This is not a suicide note WRT my being here but I want to take a break, reflect, refocus, and try to be a motivating poster and force multiplier not a divider.
I've shared more personal data here than I have with some neighbors on bases in Maryland, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, and although I own my house here in Indiana the next door neighbors here.
My friends here who have shared their experiences and perspectives have helped a lot to look at matters with a different set of eyes.
The clarity and graciousness gained by auditing multiple perspectives is seldom a weakness and thank you for your help in teaching me that lesson.

In complete agreement . The phrase "legitimate rape" is absolutely jarring to hear, and the rest of the statement is even more insane. I have to give Gov Palin a lot of credit, she so far has done a decent job picking the more politically saavy tea party candidates, she never endorsed Angle of NV, her dad endorsed Tankarian. In MO, she endorsed Steelmen, and really all 3 repub canidates are pro-life, but Akin has that stereotypical pro-life zeolot-like look that dems like to bash pro-life candidates with, Missy Claire probably knew this too and is just waiting to pounce, which is she was running ads for him. I didn't realise Huckabee endorsed him, I cannot stand Huckabee, he makes sense sometimes, but way too socially conservative for me.

need a good fiction/suspense book to take on vacation in a week. Any ideas?
---
A guilty pleasure of mine right now is Anno Dracula by Kim Newman. It is a re-imagining of the Dracula novel in which Dracula is not killed but rather Van Helsing and the others are defeated. Dracula then marries Queen Victoria and become Prince Regent. Turning into a vampire on the promise, if not reality, of immortality and eternal youth becomes popular and discrimination against them becomes impossible. But not everyone is so willing to see their way of life destroyed in favor of such tolerance, in particular, Dr. Seward from the original novel decides to engage in some bloody protest by killing vampire prostitutes in Whitechapel where he adopts the name Jack the Ripper. My description may suggest otherwise but this is not a comedy; it is a depiction of an alternate possibility.
I may be reading more into it than the author intended but I see a certain analogy to our current Chick-Fil-A crisis. I haven't finished it so I don't know how it ends.
Posted by: WalrusRex at August 19, 2012 02:18 PM (XUKZU)
"I usually like Dana Loesch but she is defending him, or rather criticizing the criticism of the remark."
well, very silly of her to do that, maybe she hasn't read his "clarification" statement, she needs to agree, it was wrong to say what he said, he apoligized and then pivot to the economy, no point in defending such an insane statement and digging the hole deeper, because then at that point, she herself starts losing an credibility in what she says in the future.
Ryan's "both parties spent more" really appeals to independents like me. There is nothing wrong with admitting a mistake, dana apparently doesn't get it, she will earn and retain more credibility is she accepts, yes, its an stupid thing to say, both parties have done it, Akin was stupid to say it, he's apologized, move on to the economy. No point in digging the hole deeper.

Can they have another runoff election(just after the primaries?) if Akin did step down? I doubt he would, however. I can only imagine the feminists that will be out for his head(and other Republicans). Sure Uncle Joey can say anything and Democrats and the media just blow him off, but this big blunder by Akin may cause problems for other conservatives as well.
Ryan does not have moobs, he has pecs. Barney Frank has moobs. They are completely different. But I suppose liberals would rather see Frank shirtless instead.

Boy this thread sure took a turn. One of the things I've really liked about this campaign season is that the R squared team has been pretty teflon. Obama has thrown the kitchen sink at Romney (is just starting with Ryan), but the attacks just bounce off Mitt, partly due to Dem overreach, but also because Mitt has volleyed back each time.
So yes, some Dems will try to use the Akin thing, but my confidence is building that the RR team can repel the attack. Also, people see through what the Dems have tried. Once you've accused someone of killing a little old lady with time-traveling cancer death rays, it's kind of hard to take other attacks from the same people seriously. Add in the nonstop Biden gaffe machine and O's blunders, and I personally don't think this is going to be as horrible a situation as some do.

If you would give me a succint rundown of what this is all about, this whole kimberlin thing and bring me up to speed in 500 words or less, i might care.

The RNC will be all over Akin. They will treat him the way the Obama campaign should treat Biden. With any luck, Akin is trainable. If he keeps apologizing and pivots to the economy it will be OK.

I think it's pretty obvious that Akin was talking (in his "legitimate rape" phrase) about women who will claim to have been raped in order to get abortions, given such an exception. I think it should be obvious that if there is only a rape exception for abortion, all of a sudden tons of claims of rape will come rolling in from women seeking abortions and the exception will become the rule - along with the collateral damage of many men being dragged over the coal in fake rape trials (since we give no punishments to false accusations of rape, as we all saw in the Duke case).
I don't know why people are having such problems with this. This is what we saw with "medical marijuana" which ended up being "recreational marijuana" with a little kickback to shitty physicians who are willing to say that anyone has a medical need for pot ... so long as the "patient" pays the fee.
Making a rape exception for abortion (for those opposed to abortion) does little to stop abortions but only will end up in insane numbers of false - i.e. illegitimate - rape accusations, just as we see all the illegitimatte claims of medicinal necessity of pot.
I think this should all be pretty clear. Akin semed to have been trying to address this point, and it's a point we should all be excedingly familiar with by now, as the left always takes any little "exception" and tries to blast it wide open and drive trucks through it. We see this in the regulatory agencies and everything else. This is the explanation for what he said and why what he said makes sense, even if Akin did a poor job of explaning it, himself.

That's too bad. I get the impression that Ace is especially sensitive on the subject of race. I've noticed that you can be pretty non-PC in here, and you can swear pretty liberally, but there is one - and ONLY one - word that appears to be off limits, and it starts with "n". Granted, I can see why using such a word in a racist way would be off-limits, but it seems like people are even afraid to use it as a direct quote.
The term was used by a fellow student at my daughter's high school once, referring to her, for example. It was kind of amusing, in context, while at the same time showing a double standard. But even in here, saying a specific word must be far worse than saying "Voldemort" in Harry Potter's world. I would hesitate to even tell such a story, even while talking around the dreaded word.
I presume there's some way he could fall prey to legal action, or he just doesn't want to deal with it when liberals pull something out of context, and try to blame him. And so that is the world we live in I guess.

You make a good point, but that is not a soundbite, what Akin said is a soundbite, I had to explain to my wife, not prolife, what Akin actually meant and it looks several minutes, her initially reaction to the phrase of "legimitate rape" was one of revulsion, if Akin had explained it in a better way, it would have worked, but he did the perfect soundbite that revulses people into not wanting to listen to anythint further.

The reason I say this is, Obama is going to lose Missouri by about 6-9 points this time. No one is going to split their ticket over this unless it becomes a fullblown fiasco. Walk it back, and don't walk into anymore social issue landmines.
Seriously, why do Republicans even talk about abortion with the media? The only way to change current abortion law would be to either pass a constitutional amendment or for the SC to overturn RvW. The votes aren't there for either to happen at this point in time. Tell these cocksuckers that you aren't running for office to talk about hypotheticals when you should be talking about jobs, jobs, and some more jobs.

I like and agree with both of these comments. I think there's a real craving for substance, more seriousness, from our leaders. I think way down deep even the left knows Obama's lite whipped cream approach isn't adequate to the country's challenges. O's current People magazine media strategy sums up this administration perfectly.
Meanwhile the R team is oozing competence and the willingness to address our challenges while also transmitting a sense of (dare I say) hopefulness. I think their tone has been good, conveying the depth of the problems but also some optimism without being pollyanna-ish.

The MFM is going to do that to anyone who opposes abortion. Pro-Lifers need to get their argument straight and turn any discussions of "exceptions" into lectures on how the left destroys the Rule of Law through exceptions. There's no getting around the MFM going elevnety on this issue, no matter how it's phrased. Pro-lifers have to accept that fact (which I'm sure most have) and just understand how to address these issues when the despicable, lying scumbag leftists try to twist them as they do.
False rape accusations are uniquely dangerous in our society since those accused of rape are stripped of pretty much all of their Constitutional rights and have little recourse against false accusations. Anything that promotes more false rape accusations - especially in the charged atmosphere of a woman seeking an abortion for a claimed rape, including the time pressure on such a situation - is exceedingly dangerous to society and the Rule of Law, in general.
The MFM will continue to try to twist all this but conservatives (even those who are pro-abortion) need to make this simple argument and put the whole issue in its proper perspective. This is, in any event, an important discussion to have as the left destroys more through the outrageous abuse of legal exceptions than they do in any other matter, I would say.

Yes, Akin did a poor job of explaining his position, but what he said was not nearly as outrageous as most imgine at first blush. People assume that only actual rape victims would be claiming they were raped to get abortions and they interpret his "legitimate" in that context, but when anyone thinks about it for more than a second he realizes that it's about those who weren't raped claiming they were to get the abortions.
Akin did an awful job of trying to dance around a very touchy issue. He tried to finesse it with the idea that the body rejects things of its own (which is a lefty position, BTW, as they like to think that the mind has lots of control over diseases and such) but that was a bad move. In general, though, his comment about pregnancies from actual rapes being "rare" was correct if given in an ill-phrased argument that included a little lefty hocus-pocus about the mind controlling the body to a huge extent.

I hear you. My wexplanation was long because this is about the left using exceptions to destroy our law - any law, for that matter. That is the issue and it is a very serious one that should be addressed in full.
People reacted strongly because Akin used a very poor structure of argument. Conservatives reacted strongly because they initially imagine that most people are decent and will follow the law as intended, thereby misinterpreting the "legitimate rape" phrase to describe actual rapes, a la Whoppi's distinction between "rape-rape" forcible rape and plain "rape" statutory rape, rather than delineating between claims of actual rape and fake claims of rape to get the rape exception abortion.
It shouldn't be that hard for people to turn this discussion around and make it apparent that leftist abuse of exceptions has almost destroyed our laws and threatens all future laws that we might even contemplate. If the Duke rape liar had been jailed over her baring false witness against the boys and Nifong had been jailed over his promoting the same then this exception idea would be less of an issue and the problem of fake rape claims less of a threat to general society, but none of that happened and little is more dangerous in our society than fake accusations of rape for which the accused have little defense against or recourse for when the truth eventually comes out.
It is important that this discussion finally take place. It's long overdue.

Bingo. Granted the MSM has lost a lot of credibility, people still don't get they're just an extension of the dimocrat party and the left and until a larger majority do, the MSM will get away with it.
Remember the Komen's cutting funds to PP, what a storm that was, that's going to be nothing compared to what the MSM will do with this Akin comment. Every single repub will be painted with this a$$nine statement from Akin.

Agreed!
Akin said something stupid and it's out there. The MSM/Dems will try to make hay, no surprise there. No R will condone or support what he said, and many will denounce. He's already issued a follow up statement, so as long as the R's don't over-react and stick to the script, I think could be a one day story.
I have just one "but." While the statement was good, he doesn't say he was wrong [about how women's bodies magically nullify rape-sperm], and he doesn't apologize. I wish those elements were in the statement because he could get drug into issuing another one which could extend the story. Otherwise, the walk back followed by a pivot to the economy and unemployment is perfect.

I disagree and I think you are wildly overreacting. Akin wasn't wrong about the essence of what he was driving at. He just stated it in a ham-handed way and added a little leftist idiocy about the mind being able to control the body more than a reasonable amount. That's it. His point about pregnancies from actual rapes (which is what he meant, rather than "legitimate", as he meant "legitimate claims" of rape) being rare is true and the risk of false rape accusations going through the roof given rape exceptions is also obvious to anyone who has lived in America for more than two years. And false rape accusations are about as dangerous as anythign in empathetic, PC American courts - so anything that promotes more of them is dangerous, stupid, and destructive. On top of all that, abortion is still strictly an issue that the federal courts retain all control over so there is nothing that Akin can do about it, anyway.
Don't go totally hysterical over this. The MFM would have made a big deal out of anyone who is anti-abortion and dosn't allow for rape exceptions and they create all sorts of other exceptional problems for anyone who is anti-abortion. There's no getting around that. Get used to it. Don't let the MFM push you around over nothing.

Yes, it was a complete bonehead play. An own goal, and it could cause a whole wave of un-needed shit to fall on our side's players all over the country. Could- we don't know for sure until the week plays out.
That said-
About this time last week, I was frightened that RMoney was going to pick pawlenty or that cypher from ohio or some other non-descript entity to be his running mate.
Instead we got the guy that's kicking ass all over the yard in the clip above, and in fact he's been doing so since last week at this time.
Also in the week just passed, we flipped mediscare over onto to earflaps mcshitstain and his differently abled sidekick chain-o the clown. In the process, neutralizing one of the dumbocrat party's biggest plays.
Also, we finally, FINALLY are getting the public at large to stop and think about just how stunningly moronic biden is after a lifetime of idiocy. This is a major blow to earflaps the unfit.
So on balance, even with akin sticking his entire torso up his ass on this one, I'm going to go out on a limb and say we are WAAAAAY the hell ahead of the game.
C'mon, we weren't going to win every issue for the next two and a half months. Yes it sucks that we just handed them a club to smack us with and they didn't even have to say please, but politicians are mainly dumb animals. What you gonna do?

They GOP did a fast pivot with Akin. Sure, the Dems will go to town with that statement, but I think it would have been much more harmful if he had said it a week before the election. The women who are going to base their vote on abortion and BC aren't going to vote GOP anyway.
What really concerns me is what else is going to come out of this dope's mouth before November. Is he going to be a GOP Joe Biden? Because while the media has smiled and said "That's just Joe" for years, you know damn well nobody will cut Akin the same slack.

SoCons, I love you and respect you but is there any fucking reason in this world that some guy in his 50's needs to be giving an opinion to anyone on what should happen to a woman who's been raped if she gets pregnant from that rape?
Can't we just say it's a tragic, terrible experience and she should decide what's best for her as far as her pregnany, mental and pysical health with the help of her church, family and doctor?
SoCons you aren't going to win that battle and if you keep fighting it you won't win your larger point because people including me think you are going just to damn far. Oh, stop. You kow that he meant cases of "actual rape" and wanted to say "legitimatte claims of rape". How difficult is that to understand or explain?
And the powers of the mind over the body are well within the lefty world, so I'm not sure that they would be so quick to cut out on that. The left is always going on about the power of the mind over the body - laughing your way as a cure to cancer and the rest of that tripe.
Akin was just saying that cases of pregnancy from rape are rare. It's true. He intimated that there will be many illegitimate calims of rape to get abortion exceptions. Also true, and too obvious for words, really.

and check out this comment:
What the actual fuck is wrong with this guy? First of all: What makes a rape be "legitimate?" And second: Whatever doctor told you that, is a fucking quack. It doesn't matter if the females wants to have sex or not. Sperm + egg = pregnancy. We don't have trap doors in our vagina for rape-sperm, you fucking douche-bag.
and this one:
Co-sponsored WITH PAUL RYAN a personhood bill last year in Congress. Be afraid, women, be very afraid. VOTE MCCASKILL, MISSOURIANS - if you value your women at all!
and this one:
Akin should be asked, in all further interviews, just what's the difference between "legitimate" & "illegitimate" rape. What a fucktard.

I think that the explanation is simple enough and that you need to be aware that you are politically aligned with lots of people whose basic conclusions you might agree with but whose reasoning to get there could differe in large part. That's life.
Akin made his argument badly but the essence of his argument was not wrong (not for people who are pro-life). He made one serious mistake with the idea that stress or violence seriously affects ones chances of getting pregnant but I would gather he said that to do a PC tap-dance around the intolerant people who would take apart anyone who didn't allow for abortion exceptions in cases of rape. He shouldn't have, because there is no tap-dancing around that. He should have just said that he was opposed to killing innocent life even in circumstances of rape ... though he would have gotten the same level of crap from the left, anyway.
Instead, he tried to make a case about people skirting the law by making illegitimate rape claims to get abortions and messed the whole thing up. Big friggin deal.

But they can't help it. The Dems and MSM have been subsisting on lizards and cockroaches for awhile now. They've been comforting each other by describing huge, delicious meals they have eaten in happier times. Reflexes say they are going to wolf this Akin shit down until they retch. But it's not enough to sustain; It's just enough to make them mad.

C'mon, there is no spinning Akin's asinine comment. When you think about it, it's also an insult to women who became pregnant as a result of rape and made the difficult choice to have the baby, because according to Akin, if they had shut down their bodies or some damn thing, they wouldn't have conceived in the first place. It also plays into the cherished lefty idea that cons are anti-science rednecks because this fool doesn't seem to understand basic biology.

Even if you take or accept the explanation that he meant some women lie about being raped to get an abortion, the next statements he makes "the female reproductive system shuts down when a woman is being raped, preventing conception" cannot be defended and will cost the GOP some serious points with independents, disgusted dems, in all the swing states, economy or no economy.

In a normal and sane world, this sort of remark would last for a few days news cycle and then disappear.
This is not a normal and sane world anymore. It is driven by the madness and the imperative of the Internet, the need for people to assert their personalities on all sorts of events. Twitter, Facebook, blogs, whatever.
It's mass madness of personalization. And there are groups of people all over the political spectrum that want to take any random comment by some idiot public figure and use it to typify whoever they oppose.
I have no real idea who this Akin guy is, but the picture plastered on the masthead of my ISP home page indicates to me he is a bit of a butter-faced moron. There is probably more stupid where this came from.

Well I hope I am wrong, I don't think so though.
This idiot is talking about one of the most horrific experiences a woman can have happen to her or dream of happening to her and he has to give his opinion on it? Then in that opinion he says it's not that bad because women have magic vaginas that insulate them from pregnancy in the case of rape.
All of this to justify an extreme abortion position but oh well we will either win or we will lose. This might affect it, it might not. No big deal either way right?

Whatever meaning this actually has will be twisted to suit the purposes of the people who manage the media.
There are a lot of stupid people in politics and they frequently say a lot of stupid unprovoked things. If those who manage the Mass Bullshit Media want to make a big thing of this, they will.
It's out of our hands, so perhaps people should just chill a bit and be a bit more civil to each other. Feeding on the madness will serve no purpose.

This ain't my first rodeo. I know how the MSM works. There will be some pounding holler and screaming about this for awhile. Until the next squirrel runs by.
We were told that Romney's "gaffes" on his overseas trip would doom him. We were told that the alleged pederast Harry Reid's tax charges would bring Mitt down. We were told that the Ryan pick was a sign of desperation, and that tying Obama to Mediscare was a stupid strategy. I see how long the MFM will hold on to a meme, they're still bringing up Seamus the dog.
I understand that this was an error. R & R have run a great campaign so far, I think they've already dealt with it properly.
What's Romney supposed to say when asked about abortion? "I already answered this. How about that 15 percent unemployment rate?" FYNQ.

And about the Obama comment "You didn't build that...."
Nobody on the left thought it was significant until the upwelling of revulsion built from the grassroots and the blog wildfire.. Then the Mass Bullshit Media went into full Total Defense mode, explaining how it was all taken out of context, and that the meaning was inverted.
Except the more you read or listen to that little speech by Obama, the more it seems it was not taken out of context, and that is exactly what he meant and has always thought. Which the Left knows because they think the same way, but realize that the wording of Obama's statement was a problem. So now they have tried to change reality.
Which is what they do. Try to change reality.

mama winger is correct. Yes, it was a stupid, stupid thing to say. But jeez, you didn't think the Dems weren't going to replay the "War on Women" card before this came up? Politicio reported this morning they're planning a "Ryan Hates Women" campaign. That was in the works before Akin ever opened his dumb mouth. Sure, Akin handed ammo to the enemy, but this election is not going to be about abortion or birth control or how babies are made, no matter how much the Dems want to change the subject.
To whoever said he wouldn't vote for Akin if he lived in MO - please tell me just how a US Senator can singlehandedly change US abortion law? If I lived in MO, I still would vote for the bonehead, because he's still a damn sight better than what they have in there now.

I used to be totally pro choice / pro death.
I was like omg WOMAN'S BODY WOMAN'S RIGHT LET THE BOOBS FLY FREE!
Then I got a puppy that was scheduled to be euthenized cause she had all kinds of problems at birth, weak knees that would likely lead to luxation, abdominal lesion at birth, cushing's disease. I had 8 years with her, and countless surgeries - nearly 30K in medical costs. She ended up developing autoimmmune disease and almost died at 6 but fought back for two more years of time and finally cancer from a tumor on her adrenal gland brought on by cushings took her from me.
She was the most loyal loving amazing dog I ever had. Taught me the value of life and how unique and precious every life is.
Not being a woman I do not believe I have any right to tell a woman what she can and can't do, but for me personally, I am 100% pro life now.

Not married. so its not an issue i have faced yet. I am sure if it directly affected me i would say no way but its pretty unrealistic to expect that I could tie my future wife down and force her to give birth to a child she didnt want just because I wanted it.
Thats why there is divorce court i suppose although i imagine when i marry i will marry a woman who does want children and is pro life. I dont think it would get to the alter if our views on something that basic were so divergent.
But do i have the right to walk into my neighbors home and prevent them from aborting? Not with the current laws in this country.

OK, here's Thorvald's sentence before the one I quoted: "Internet source saying only 5% of rapes result in pregnancy."
This is because the majority of rapes are committed by inmates. male-on-male, and female on female.
I cannot vouch for either Thorvald's cited 5% rape pregnancy figure, or the overall total number of rapes given, but the facts are that most rape is prison rape, and we have over 2,000,000 prisoners in the US. Hey! Let's get Todd Akin's input on this.
