Romney's Closing Argument in Wisconsin
— Ace

"Four more days! Four more days!"

Thanks to Jamster. He's got a story I like -- Sandra Fluke drew a massive crowd of forty.

Well, she wasn't in an area where it was easy to draw crowds. She was way out in the boonies... the boonies of the University of Florida.

As Paul Schaeffer said in Spinal Tap, "The University of Florida isn't a big college town anyway."

39 Confession: I supported John McCain in the 2000 Republican primary. Until Bush beat him, I liked McCain quite a bit.

By 2008, however, he was pretty ratty and dog-eared. As that year unfolded, I was not much enthused by the prospect of his being our nominee or our chances in the fall. Even so, after he picked Palin, I grew somewhat excited about the campaign. McCain himself never inspired me, despite his great biography and my earlier liking of him.

This campaign has been the opposite. I kept hoping someone would provide an alternative to Romney. The only alternative I came close to getting behind was, like Ace, Rick Perry. To me, Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich, and Santorum were disastrous prospects. Reluctantly, I began to see Romney at least as our best chance of booting President Boo-boo.

As we wind down to election day, I've come to like Romney. In accordance with several polls, I've moved from voting only against Obama to voting for Mitt. That first debate, we saw which of these men should be leading our country--and which should be teaching community college students how to organize.

I am hopeful America sees that distinction too. The choice on Tuesday is stark, and it is not between an ageing politico running on fumes versus a hotshot but unproven talker. It is the choice between a dynamic, principled leader and a rabble-rousing, dilettante failure.

Think of the people on oxygen therapy.  The folks with the portable gear.  Those things require batteries to run.  What happens when the batteries run down?

Romney is a breath of fresh air after the Bush Criminal Syndicate and their family values garbage. It's good to hear a Republican campaign on economic issues again. One in ten...that is the meaning of decimated.  That word does not mean what Barry is implying.  It's a quibble, it's an out, it's a way of sounding really tough and really strong and yet saying nothing at all.  Like Barry usually does.  If he actually meant they were destroyed, he would say destroyed or obliterated or annihilated.  It's almost Clintonian.

Down from his total at this time in 2008. Down off the pace.

BUT, the assumption is that Republicans win the Election Day vote. So without a big lead in the early vote, he loses.

Posted by: ace at November 02, 2012 01:36 PM (LCRYB)

Fucking MCCAIN (yes him) won election day turnout in Ohio by MORE than 100,000 votes at the APEX OF HOPE AND CHANGE. Obama won Ohio because of the early vote, which now has closed to less than ten thousand difference (if the numbers are correct). Romney will beat that handily with turnout on election day.

You know, they may really think they are ahead. They may really believe that they are going to get the same turnout that they got in 2008 and that all you really need is for your base to turn out and shave off the independents and you win Carter style (won against Ford while losing indpendents). They really seem to think ( or give the impression) that the white population will be down to the low 70's and that the minority populations will give them sufficient vote coverage to eek out a win.

Just look at how they have acted the last four years. Arrogant and hubris beyond measure.

236 A tale of 4 heroes - http://tinyurl.com/a5jsjk8 I don’t buy fog of war. I don’t buy “confused situation.” I’ve been on QRF (Quick Reaction Force) more than once for a TiC (Troops in Contact) call. You can tell by the tone of voice used just how bad it is. When words like “immediate” or “urgent” are used on the radio, it’s not because some Hollywood script writer is trying to make it sound good. They’re about to get rolled and they need help. If you’re on the QRF, you drop literally everything and move as expeditiously as possible to support and evacuate your comrades Both in Mogadishu and in Benghazi there were assets available that might have prevented the tragic events that happened. Air support, ground support, even indirect fire support; but because of the “political realities on the ground,” those assets were denied, and some very fine warriors were lost. I don’t care where you stand politically. This is simply unacceptable. It is truly lamentable that MSG Gordon, SFC Shughart, Woods, and Doherty had to pay the price for political squeamishness. They knew what they were risking, and they had every confidence that they could hold out until friendly ground forces arrived. Woods, his team, and Doherty’s team were not alone, like MSG Gordon and SFC Shughart were, but it is clear that they showed the same level of courage and moral fiber. They risked life and limb to help their comrades and fellow Americans. In the end we would expect no less of our brothers in arms. Both Woods and Doherty died in a pile of brass, with their boots on. That is what it means to be a Warrior, and we should not soon forget such men. ---------- As that cocksucker laid in bed getting rest for Las fucking Vegas.

248 Watching that speech, I realized that Romney is truly a leader.

I wasn't for him in the primaries, I'll admit, but I truly hope he succeeds with his agenda.  If he's half the president Reagan was, we'll all be so much better off.

249 I donÂ’t buy fog of war. I donÂ’t buy “confused situation.” IÂ’ve been on QRF (Quick Reaction Force) more than once for a TiC (Troops in Contact) call. You can tell by the tone of voice used just how bad it is. When words like “immediate” or “urgent” are used on the radio, itÂ’s not because some Hollywood script writer is trying to make it sound good. TheyÂ’re about to get rolled and they need help. If youÂ’re on the QRF, you drop literally everything and move as expeditiously as possible to support and evacuate your comrades   Posted by: RWC at November 02, 2012 02:04 PM (fWAjv)

Romney is a breath of fresh air after the Bush Criminal Syndicate and their family values garbage. It's good to hear a Republican campaign on economic issues again. The sad part is that between the damage Bush did to the GOP image and the media's support of Obama, Mitt probably will not win. This nation will reject a good man in favor of a con artist.

Oh, Hector, Hector, Hector.  Didn't mommy ever tell you to quit while you were ahead?  Now dance for us, little troll.  Dance.  But first. . .

259 Let's belay that, shall we? He's a politician. Hopefully he'll be a leader. In either case, he's just a man. That statement smacks of "Cult of Personality," which is a Democrat thing. I have no doubt the economy will recover, and much faster under Romney. Indeed, he is the one America was really waiting for. Yes, he's just a man, just like I am a woman, and a damn good leader myself in business. And, I recognize black and white when I see it. It's going to be tough, but Romney's up to it.
