— Ace Before you think "Is he desperate?" (which is what some people say at first blush), let me say I'm enthusiastic about this. Romney is a leave-nothing-in-the-gas-tank kind of guy, and I appreciate the fight until the very end.
Also, Obama campaigned in Indiana on Election Day 2008.
There's no tea leaves here -- except that Romney has an admirable work ethic and isn't looking to knock off early.
I also find it heartening that his last push for votes is in Pennsylvania. And Democrat stronghold Cleveland.
I think @conartcritic was making this point a couple of weeks ago, but with respect to Republican voters in Madison and Dane county in Wisconsin. Obviously you want to turn out the red vote in red areas, in a close election, it's also imperative to turn out the red vote in blue areas. After all, their votes count just as much. You won't win Cleveland, but if you rack up a lot of Republicans in Cleveland who might otherwise not have voted -- figuring "I'm alone in a sea of blue" -- that will of course add to your statewide tallies.
I don't know why anyone would say this a negative indicator. Romney obviously thinks he can win Pennsylvania, and Ohio, or else he wouldn't be there.
My only complaint is that he's not also going to Wisconsin and Minnesota.

If you asked me months ago where would the final campaign stops be, I would have said Virginia, Florida, North Carolina and Ohio. 3 of those 4 are now firmly in the Romney column.
Romney winning PA would give him more of a mandate and my guess is, the Democrat Party would probably go into a more Clinton/DLC direction.

He's not "just" running up the score, he's doing something much more important.
He's building a mandate. He wants it clear to all who bother to look (so that excepts the MFM, but they're becoming less a threat every year), that it wasn't just that Barack Obama was rejected, but that the policies of Republicans were actively affirmed.
This will have two side effects. For the election itself, it will hopefully provide longer "coattails" and result in more Senate seats switching to R.
After the election, during the Lame Duck period, it might convince at least a few Senate Democrats not to stick their necks out too far to support the SCOAMT or in opposition to Romney- thus limiting some of the damage the Obama Admin is planning to do.

That's where campaigns are won and lost. And those are the earliest signs of who is winning.
That's why poll watchers in certain precincts are so important--it tells the campaigns whether they are getting the numbers they need from the areas they need to know they are winning.
With Romney getting some 34k to sign up--he's going to know by about 3PM on Election Day if he is winning by enough that it doesn't matter what the JEF does.

Pennsylvania is a slog for a GOP Presidential candidate. I think this election will come down to the Philly burbs because Romney will do better than most Republicans in Western Pa and the T is solid red, but Obama will triumph in Philadelphia.
But here in Western Pa, I am seeing Republican yard signs like "Casey Kills Jobs" everywhere; of course I do not live in the Hill District, where I am sure there is lots of SCOAMF love. And I am hearing bar talk etc that sounds to me like a lot of independents may not love Romney, but they loathe Obama. Mark Critz is running away from Obama so hard that you would think Critz was running as a Republican.
And the Obama people just trotted out a new ad with an endorsement from Colin Powell, stressing that he is a registered Republican. That looks to me like grasping at straws: few Republicans are going to be persuaded by Powell. Romney's ads are terrific.
I am keeping my fingers crossed and now have to take the dog for her hike in the woods so she won't eat the sofa or the cat.

ItÂ’s a curious move by the Romney campaign, which will now literally be working until the last possible day to win Pennsylvania. An election day stump could weaken the get out the vote effort for Romney on election day. A large rally would likely mean pulling significant resources from polling places.
In contrast, President Obama will be casting his vote in Chicago, and spending the rest of the day with his family.

From 1989:
"
Nearly all coaches are edgy in preparation, but Sam Wyche of the Bengals had an eerie feeling about his team's game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday even though the Bengals were home in Riverfront Stadium. Much of Wyche's fear stemmed from Cincinnati's playoff victory over Seattle last season. Though Seattle entered only 5-8, Wyche expected a revengeful bunch and more.
He got it. The Bengals' 24-17 loss hurt their playoff chances greatly. They now need help from several teams and plenty from themselves, finishing against Houston and Minnesota. The Seattle loss also featured two unusual incidents.
When fans began throwing snowballs on the field, Wyche grabbed a microphone and yelled that if anyone saw someone throwing anything, point them out and security would throw them out. ''This is Cincinnati, not Cleveland!'' screamed Wyche, referring to the Browns' games earlier this season at which fans threw items including dog biscuits and batteries onto the field."

Romney wasnt my first choice. But he strikes me as extremely presidential. Ever since the Ryan pick, I began framing it a voting for Romney instead of against Obama. While I fear the expansion of the government under Republican leadership, I am really excited about the prospect of President Romney. Character, Class, and a love of American Exceptionalism.

Maybe Obama will graciously "pass the torch" and give Mitt his "Office of the President Elect" lectern seal.
Voting first thing in the morning for R-R and against Claire McCaskill. Hoping Akin can ride Mitt's coattails over the finish line.
BTW, I'm new here. Been lurking a while.

Mandel wins, as well.
Ohio was won the day Jon Husted took the oath of office as SofSt in Ohio. He cleaned up the voter rolls to conform with state law. Amazing how many "voters" disappeared in NE Ohio once that was done.
Be not afraid.

which they show to be the same internals as the presidential numbers.
The split is 40D, 36R, 24I. So Romney is leading by 1 in a Rasmussen D+4
poll."
You have to be kidding me. What is Scott smoking?
Posted by: Dave in Fla at November 05, 2012 03:49 PM (JxIk
Well he has party ID at R+6
My guess is none of the pollsters want to be the guy out there in front on this one. They have put out the numbers and they know you know the internals so its pretty easy to connect the dots and get the info out there by people like you Dave and the word spreads very fast.
By not putting his neck out Rass keeps his freindship with the cocksing left and all of the shitty pollsters huddle around its a tie so that they are 50% right no matter what.
Now you and i and my 14 inch woody all know that its going to be a devestation of Reaganesque proportions tomorrow.
So does Rass....but there is that tiny chance that his party ID is an outlier...an infinitesimally tiny chance...like the chance that in a sane world a dipshit mother fucker anti american capitalist hating cuntfaced piece of shit like Obama with no experience record history background or principles would ever get to be president.....but we all now know we do not live in a sane world. so.....since Rass is pretty sure Romney has this, showing him up by just one still has him in the lead and doesnt risk Rass' reputation.
Now yes its a bit cowardly, but take it from his point of view...what we are about to see is unheard of in election politics. the massive swing over four years is insane and would only happen in a country where the people were sold a bill of goods and were REALLY REALLY FUCKIN PISSED!
and we all know the media narrative is that OBAMA is LOOOOOVED by Teh Peepolls.
So does Rassmussen want to become the Sarah Palin of public polling outfits? Does he want to be savaged for sticking his neck out and saying hey guys, THIS MOTHER FUCKER IS OVER LIKE A MEGAN MCCAIN IN A FIGHT TO THE DEATH WITH A TWINKIE!
No I dont think he does. I think he is like the cat that ate the canary. He knows whats about to happen, he hinted at it very strongly with the ID release R+6 and the internals easily showing he is still useing D+ on the poll.
He is going to enjoy the WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED hilarrity even more than he would the WOW Rass was right after party commentary.
The best anal rape is when you dont tell them to bend over relax and breath out so it doesnt hurt....if you know what i mean and i know that you do.

Oh, but I'm a "certain" voted in 2000, 2006, and 2010 primaries. And I always vote late (do they know what time I like to vote?) Plus, I'm on record as donating to Romney (do they have that list to check against?). If they have a good database, they should know my vote will be there at the final hour.

Most people in this state HATE McCaskill, but Akin really screwed the pooch with the "legitimate rape" comment. Frankly, I'm going to feel a little squeamish about voting for him.
Akin doesn't seem to be all that sharp, but would be a reliable conservative vote in the Senate. Mitt's killing in Missouri, and the Senate race seems to be pretty close. So I guess we'll find out.

The shorter version is:
'Look assholes, I called the -win- correctly. Check these other fuckers out.'
That is: The "Percent error" isn't as big a deal as the overall call. And ... Gallup and Rass are the only ones near that.

Welcome on board! I hope Obagman does give Mitt his "Office of the President-Elect" seal and associated regalia -- and that Mitt promptly and publicly announces that "there is no such thing as the 'Office of the President-Elect'. The United States Constitution mentions it nowhere. I want nothing to do with this ridiculous and affected display." And then, on live television, throws the seal into the nearest dumpster.

Before you think "Is he desperate?" (which is what some people say at first blush), let me say I'm enthusiastic about this. Romney is a leave-nothing-in-the-gas-tank kind of guy, and I appreciate the fight until the very end.

Posted by: The Lightworker at November 05, 2012 03:13 PM (lwFRt)
He did the right thing.
Demographic change has made California unwinnable. A loss with a tinge of pink is still a loss, and there's no point on devoting resources to a loss.
This applies nationally too. Continuing non-White mass immigration, adding millions to the sure Democrat vote year, will make America unwinnable for conservatives if it is not stopped. Either Republicans change that, or for future Republicans chasing the Presidency will be as pointless as chasing California's Electoral College votes is now.
Either President Romney will try to close the border, or his whole presidency will be as wasted as a trip to California would have been.
