— Ace Not too shabby.
Meanwhile, via Politico (no link), Obama claims he raised even more than that...
"We've outraised the Romney campaign in that time period but that's not the point - our supporters are more committed than ever to ensuring that insurance companies can't drop coverage for people who get sick or discriminate against people with preexisting conditions by reelecting the President," campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said in an email.
...but won't say how much.
Greg Sergant demonstrates the unwavering nose for news he's known for:

Who cares which campaign raised more in the last 24 hours?

or from whom? Ostensibly it's assumed that Romney raised the money from furious Americans.
If Obama raised a ton (which I don't believe), bet it was predominantly from all over the world.

I'm not sure if public opinion will change, at least not among those who have seen their insurance premiums rise several hundred dollars since the act was passed. My insurance company conveniently put right in the letter about the rising premiums that it was due to the affordable care act. I also know people at an extremely large company who are going to lose their health care choices in 2013 and the company also put it right in the notifications that the change was due to the affordable health care act.
So, unlike a lot of other things the government does that you don't right away see the tangible result to your own life, this one is being nicely spelled out for people in actual dollars and cents taken out of their wallet.

Not a Federal system that will work for few and take from all.

Who else is still in a funk? I have zero faith in the GOP or Mitt to repeal this thing, or even make a determined effort. I'm not even certain Mitt can win. And I definitely do not want to hear any more about the political statemanlike genius of the saintly John Roberts. Spare me the "this gives him political cover" for future rulings. What does he need political cover for? I hope he strikes down part of the voting rights act when it comes up next term, but when and if he does, the left will have long forgotten this ruling and will lable him a racist wanting to take us back to the days of Jim Crow.
We conservatives are always being told we need to play the long game. The left plays the short game and always wins. The country that wins the wars typically wins the most battles. They at least win the decisive battle. But when the most decisive battle of our time comes up, we lost. The left made the political sacrafice. The GOP never does.
Yet, I'll vote for Mitt. Fooling myself into thinking I am voting for someone who will push back against the left. I'm tired of losing all the little battles. I'm tired of losing the big ones. I'm willing to fight this war, but we need to see some concrete victories. When the GOP truly engages on certain conservative issues we win. We defeated the Communists (abroad anyway). We won on gun control. We are winning on public sector unions. We win, but only if the GOP, fully engages with us. I hope the Mitt backers are right. I'll support him, but only because I am eliminating the other choice.
From the ramblings of a depressed conservative.

Why Paulie. You must be a douche nozzle if you don't have those things yet in your life.
What the girls just don't understand you? And your bosses are all assholes just because you screw up now and then?
Must be tough being a douchnozzle. Is that why you've had to resort to taking it up the ass on the corner? How's that case of herpes simplex that you got from your Mom coming along. ObamaCare will soon have you and Mom cured. Your sister too.

No, no, no: Under the Roberts Rule, it has to be a tax on _not_ having a kid. That is, if you get pregnant and you choose not to carry to term, it'll cost you $5k. Now, as Roberts said, "You are free to have the abortion, you are not free to refuse to pay the tax."
So, it's not an infringement in any way, shape or form on their right to an abortion--because they can still get that. And the tax comes after the abortion, not before.

Too bad we have Candidate Romney who instituted its twin in MA. Too bad we have a fawning socialist pravdaesque press that will not report on any negative consequences of the plan. Too bad that we have a CJSC that is more interested in getting invited to the best dinner parties than in defending the Constitution.
I don't think Roberts is capable of two dimensional chess, let alone eleventh dimensional chess.
On the other hand, as a newly designated serf, I have a lot less to worry about because there is so much more that the state planners are willing, able, and empowered to do FOR me.

Of course the answer to your questions is never. The crash is happening now. The only way to stop a crash is to hit the bottom. The only way to beat Statism is to have it fail in such spectacular fashion that there is no doubt about its' futility. We will have to rebuild from the ashes on this one. There is no magic bullet, no cutting of spending or other nostrum that will stop the crash. It's too late, the tipping point passed around 2007. Piling the health tax on top of everything else is just sugar on the cake. You can only tax to 20% of GDP and we are above that now, so no worries. The health tax will simply lower GDP output and hasten the end game.
;;;;
And the end game is the only way out. Prepare. It won't be as bad as many think, and itis not avoidable.

You know what really pisses me off? THE LIES TOLD BY THE DEMS ABOUT PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. Insurance companies have not been allowed to have more than a 12 or 18 month wait time for pre-existing conditions since 1996 and the passage of HIPPA, and even those times get dropped way down if the insured can present a certificate of creditable coverage Admittedly, HIPPA only deals with employer-provided health coverage. But it has a rational way to deal with getting people covered without having them only jump in and be covered when they get sick (there is a penalty of a wait time).
AND NONE OF THIS SMOKE AND MIRRORS DEALS WITH THE REAL PROBLEM OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND. Health care is expensive because there aren't a lot of doctors because the AMA keeps a stranglehold on how many people go to med school, and licensing boards keep a stranglehold on what foreign doctors can practice. More doctors, more equipment, and less people grinding on insurance paperwork and voila - lower priced health care.
I've been screaming this to my congresscritter - who is a doctor - for years with no response other than a form letter. To the moron horde: explain to me why it is possible to get a first class boob job in Dallas for about $5k while super standard appendix and gallbladder removals cost $10k plus? It's because boob jobs don't involve insurance companies. And get the free market involved (there are specialty credit firm that will finance a boob job if you want to buy now, pay later), and you keep the price down. Why not expand this model instead of taxing the sh#t out of people who only need catastrophic policies?

#96 has it right. If all the GOP people used a credit card to donate 1 penny to Obama's campaign it likely would be economic disaster for him. The credit card companies charge 25 cents per transaction to the recipient. Not only that you would then be put on a very expensive mailing list. Just think, everytime a DNC letter comes to your box, that is 50 cents or more out of their coffers.
I'm guessing $100 donated to the Obama campaign in 1 cent increments would be the equivalent of giving $2,500 to the RNC.
