Romney's Tax Plan Is Full Of Lies
— andy

Lies by Obama and the media (BIRM).

See, that's the spin about the "$5 trillion in taxes" that the despicable Obama campaign came out with after Mitt Romney hit their strawman version of his tax plan like Curtis LeMay over Tokyo during last week's debate: Romney was just lying.

To set up the original talking point, which Obama repeated no fewer than three times in the debate, the Obama campaign represented a hacktastic, left-leaning study on Romney's plan as "independent" and "non-partisan". Of course their media mouthpieces dutifully repeated these claims ... one instance of which is now being used in an ad that's too shameless for even NBC to stomach. And that's saying a lot.

In the clip used by the Obama campaign, [Andrea] Mitchell quotes a liberal groupÂ’s claim that RomneyÂ’s tax plan will cost $4.8 trillion and will therefore raise taxes on the middle class, a charge that other, more credible analysts, have debunked. This is a point on which even liberal fact checkers have concluded that the DemocratsÂ’ pants are on fire, but Mitchell loyally spouted the allegation on the air as if it were objective fact.

And, never to be deterred when called out on these low tactics, they're continuing to misrepresent the plan in fundraising emails.

"Even the studies that Romney has cited to claim his plan adds up still show he would need to raise middle-class taxes," said the Obama campaign press release. "In fact, Harvard economist Martin Feldstein and Princeton economist Harvey Rosen both concede that paying for RomneyÂ’s tax cuts would require large tax increases on families making between $100,000 and $200,000."

But that's not true. Princeton professor Harvey Rosen tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD in an email that the Obama campaign is misrepresenting his paper on Romney's tax plan ...

So don't forget, Mitt Romney lies.

They are predicting an even bigger win for Romney than before. They have him at 320 electoral a vs. 315 previously.

Posted by: kawfytawk at October 08, 2012 10:57 AM (JWLqy)

34 ROMNEY'S DEFINITION OF TAXES IS FAR TOO NARROW:

Romney is thinking of only income taxes.  The problem is that since roughly half of Americans pay no income taxes they don't have skin in that game.

Romney needs to change the definition:

NEW DEFINITION OF TAXES: "Anything the government does which costs you money."

Now, according to this broader and better definition, unemployment becomes a 100% tax, rising food prices become a huge tax increase, doubling of gasoline prices become a huge tax increase.

This way Romney can show non-income tax payers how Obama's failed policies are taxing them the most.

A simple redefinition of a term could win Romney this race.

Posted by: Andrea Mitchell at October 08, 2012 10:57 AM (IoNBC)

36 I canÂ’t tell exactly how the Obama campaign reached that characterization of my work. It might be that they assume that Governor Romney wants to keep the taxes from the Affordable Care Act in place, despite the fact that the Governor has called for its complete repeal. The main conclusion of my study is that under plausible assumptions, a proposal along the lines suggested by Governor Romney can both be revenue neutral and keep the net tax burden on taxpayers with incomes above $200,000 about the same. That is, an increase in the tax burden on lower and middle income individuals is not required in order to make the overall plan revenue neutral.

Holy carp!

1) That's a huge "mischaracterization."
2) Why isn't Romney citing this guy by name saying, "Hey, I can make my tax-rate cuts revenue neutral, and this guy agrees."

Seems to me all the excuses and accusations about Romney lying not only look pathetic to the millions who watched, but are actually counterproductive.  If O would have just admitted he blew it and said he'd  do better in the next debate, the story might have died down.  Only a leader confident of his abilities could say that though, and that's not our dear little O.

To get to O+5 on a 7 day forecast, you need a total of +35 points over the 7 days, you had four days of +5, so yesterday O had to have been a +15 favorite. Um, I don't think that happened.

112 Until Romney explains how he will pay for his plan without increasing the deficit, it's safe to say he's lying. Does anyone, and I mean *anyone* reading this actually believe Mitt Romney is going to go to the American people and tell them he's going to eliminate home-interest deductions and tax their health benefits and charitable contributions? His plan is sacrifice-free: lower taxes for everyone, guaranteed entitlements for the elderly, all paid for by your kids and theirs. Here's an idea, how about you phase in tax cuts as you cut spending? Buying now and paying later isn't a new idea; it's the status quo.

Here's my (usually wrong) prophecy of the debate:

The next debate will be more to Soetero's strengths (I think), since it is a heavily scripted townhall and the media, seeing what a feeble catamite Soetero is, will structure things to protect him.  The medihadis will try to keep Barry away from any interaction with Romney (aside from the even-as-now scripted moment when Barry will launch into an indignant attack at Romney for being a 'liar'.  The narrative will be that Barry has 'gotten back' his energy and is now ready to fight the Enemy).

I suspect that the press moderator will overcompensate for Jim Lehrer's thinkcrime and will come off looking like a partisan psycho as she screams at Mitt to be quiet.

The audience will be moonbat liberals with questions straight from TalkingPointsMemo.  Mitt will be answering questions about his dog, Bain, the 47%, and Big Bird.  Obama will be answering questions about his pecks, killing Bin Laden, and Michelle.  Libya will be mentioned by Romney and have about thirty seconds to talk.

Provided Obama is able to keep from beclowning himself again, the press will declare he is 'back.'

OT. Was talking to an Argentinian friend this morning. She is terrified of the implications of Chavez's reelection for her country. And she is appalled at the fact that Obama could possibly get a second term. She said something to the effect of "I can't believe people bought that hopey changey garbage." She also ranted on how Obama's apologies have damaged the West as a whole, and is sick of the reflexive sucking-up to the pro-burka crowd.

So, here's a woman who lives in South America who has a better perspective on our current state of affairs than ~50 percent of our country.

Nick Searcy is an actor and a Moron commentor.  That's right!  He's been spotted right here in the comments section, posting a few times in the past year or so.  He is currently on FX's show "Justified" with Timothy Olyphant.  He's also been spotted on several anti-obama or anti-democrat vids, mostly satirical in nature, along with other fellow Hollywood conservatives.

One engine failure thus far gives a engine success rate of 97%. The chance of -two- failures would then be 0.03 * 0.03 = 0.09%. And you actually need -three- failures to cause a complete scrub.

True: More engines means a higher chance of individual failure. But more engines also can mean a higher chance of overall success.

They say that like raising taxes is a bad thing, something that they would never do.

Now all we're doing is arguing over who is in "the middle class." The lefties' definition: anyone who has any money, yet doesn't have enough to give him enough clout with the government to weasel out of taxes. If so, welcome to "the middle class," sucker!

192 155 here's what seems pretty clear, and it was perfectly obvious during the debate. obama can't refute what romney says because he doesn't understand it well enough to dismantle the arguments, even if what romney said was completely false. This deserves its own post. Or at least some rumination on this topic by the cobs. The one thing that I took away is how over his head Obama is when confronted with a man not made of straw. And yes, it's because he's either too stupid or too lazy to understand what he needs to understand to do the job he wants us to give him again. Even if he wasn't evil, this is enough to disqualify him, and I think that this was the reason 72% thought he lost the debate-- and, more importantly, swung the polls to Romney. Obama doesn't have the firepower to do the job.

207 "Maybe some things are worth spending money on and some things aren't? I'd much rather have that debate than pursue this across the board cut nonsense." I realize that. There's no advocacy at all for reducing spending, and it's a shame, because it has to be done. The roads are going to be shittier. The military is going to be smaller. The lines at the Post Office are going to be longer. States will pay for more of their own infrastructure. Class sizes will get bigger. Our foreign policy will be more restrained. These are the sacrifices we're going to have to make to reign in spending, but I think short term belt-tightening will promote long-term stable growth. You can't have your cake and eat it too, especially when you need to sell it to pay for the cake you ate last year.
