Run, Joe. Run.
American Crossroads Makes Its Case For Biden

— andy

Is Joe Biden just a great Vice-President? Or is he the Greatest Vice-President Ever!?

A new ad from American Crossroads tries to answer that question ...

Bonus footage: My all-time favorite Biden clip.

(everything other than the moot court point is a lie)

Not to tear open old wounds, nor to say it would've been [much] better, BUT:

I kept hearing hearing from Leftards throughout 2008 that their primary difficulty with Sarah Palin was that she was inexperienced and McCain was old, so they expected he wouold kick it and Sarah was going to be POTUS and HORRORS!!1! It was a "polite" way of saying they hated her.

Well, here we are. McCain is still around and Sarah would've grown in office. Maybe not that much better an admin because of McRINO but probably not half as embarassing as Glue-sniffin' Joey B.

We moved into a new office with security locks in January.  they require a smart card (also your ID) to enter, or a PIN.  She is the keeper of the master PIN.

Since she has a perpetual chip on her shoulder any slight - mostly perceived because none are real (I work with great people) - is responded to with some elaborate plan to get even.  Her plan for several folks was to lock them out of the office and not let them back in if they had to use the bathroom.

She thought the door wasn't working right because people were still getting back in the office.  So she got up to check the locks and why her "master plan" wasn't working.

She locked herself out.

Five times in the space of 30 minutes.

Remember, she has her ID with her, AND access to the master PIN.

Bright girl.

There are a lot of other stories in that vein.

True.   Of course, my problem with idiot receptionists (and I've worked as a receptionist) is that they give ALL receptionists a bad name.  Like anything else,   people don't remember the GOOD receptionists who are      on-the-ball    with getting people checked in,   directing them to the elevators or the appropriate offices,   taking messages and relaying    phone calls     to the correct individuals, etc.   Oh no.   People always remember the IDIOT receptionists who spend an hour on the phone with their whining daughter or their airhead best friend while there's    someone standing at the window, slowly turning    purple with rage at being ignored.

A pox on stupid receptionists.

94

I don't     think the Rasmussen poll is particularly bad.   Here's the deets:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows President Obama attracting support from 46% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns the vote from 45%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

This is the first time in 10 days that Obama has had the lead.

New polling shows Romney up two points in Florida and up one in Paul RyanÂ’s home state of Wisconsin.  In Ohio, the candidates are tied at 45% each. All three are among the 12 states with 156 Electoral Voters rated either Toss-Ups or Leaners in the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College Projections.

Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).

96 Rasmussen. Obama now up by 1 after a negative four.

First off: up by 1 is a statistical dead-heat, I'm not terribly concerned.
Second: the trend is the other direction, this could simply be noise.

103 Years back I was temping and had an assignment for a pretty large company. I was told going into it that the other secretary I would be working with was difficult but not to say anything to her other than polite conversation since there was ongoing litigation about her role in the company. Needless to say, she was completely useless and I more or less did her job as well. I come back from lunch one day and notice there's a message slip in the box for the one VP who is out of the country. I look at the slip and it's an urgent urgent must talk to you now message. Now, mind you, this is several years back where calling someone in a foreign country wasn't a matter of where the hell is my phone but was a BFD. I call the person who left the message back and said hey he's out of the country, we can't get him, you should call person X. He thanked me and I promptly forgot about it. I wound up getting an employee of the month award for my initiative for doing that. When I was told this, I stared at my supervisor. From my perspective, I was getting an award for doing my job with minimal competence. Apparently it was considered remarkable that I would think to tell someone that the person they urgently needed wasn't available. My take was that wow people are idiots.

We had a "professional standards" policy memo issued a few years back by management.  It was totally innocuous standard boilerplate stuff like dress code, business card layout, office policy on returning phone calls, etc.

You know, just stuff everyone that anyone with a minimal degree of professionalism would known.  But hey, you issue the memo anyway because it's good to have a general record.

She filed an EO complaint because she thought everything about dress code an hygiene, and phone messages was directed personally at her.  There are 41 people in this agency....but it was all about her.

You should have seen the look on the Director's face.  It was like he had never encountered that degree of idiocy before.

117 @Bannion, I also have a hate-on for HR sometimes, who seem to hire anyone that can fog a mirror. We had a middle aged black female receptionist by the name of Antoinette who was getting promoted out of there. Lovely, pleasant lady. Very smart, capable and she had this really regal dignity about her without seeming stuck up. So HR sends me a replacement for Antoinette to train. Young, female, pretty. Also black. Let's call her "Aquanetta." I introduce Aquanetta to Antoinette. Aquanetta looks around her new workstation and says, "Nah-uh! Whatch'all be doin' with that COMPROOTER?!" Antoinette turns slowly to me in her chair, eyebrow arched and says, "Jeff, I don't think this one is going to work out."

Oh Jeezy, that sounds so very similar to my own experience,   and for even LESS work than you.

I was working as a secretary in my state's Health and Human Services department.  The program I was with at the time had to put together a fairly sizeable report    to present to the Feds and to distribute to local shareholders.    They sent me the finished text    and asked me to make it "look pretty."    So I did what I could, made the formatting uniform, added some graphic elements where appropriate, and sent it back.

A month later, I got an official Certificate of Appreciation   from the HHS Commissioner     in a lovely leather      certificate holder,    along with    a letter of appreciation.

Again, for DOING.  MY.  DAMN.  JOB.

I don't think folks realize how insulting it can be to get such high praise for doing something that any idiot       could do.       It's    kind of like saying,    "Wow, you did such a great job stapling all those papers!   Here's a cookie!"     I mean, holy Christmas,     what do I get if I        actually    do something HARD, like      make twenty photocopies of massive, sixty page contracts    that have to be   downtown to     Administrative Services by 10am,       it's already 9am,   and the photocopier    keeps jamming?          A gold-plated    Rolls    Royce?

It's the same idiot logic that the Dems use when it comes to "taxing the oil companies" or any other business   or industry.   "We're not going to put the tax on the consumer;   we're going to put it on the producer!"     They conveniently ignore that the producers    don't just say, "Oh, well,    we'll just take that added tax burden out of our profits."         What they DO is either go out of business or jack up prices,   which directly affects... THE CONSUMER.

This is because regressives are idiots.   Dangerous, evil idiots.

173 That is the band's name. No idea if they are any good. But they took a stand against Vlad Putin, the protest thing, got arrested, and now two years in prison.

Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at August 17, 2012 10:17 AM (d5fLT)

They're less of a band and more of a    "kinetic art" group or something.    Typical   punk    anarchists.        Here's a sum-up of what they did, from Jim Goad at Taki's Mag:

The trio of young, unscrubbed radical lasses—Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich—are accused of “hooliganism” and “inciting religious hatred” for storming the altar at Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral in February wearing Day-Glo balaclavas, fist-pumping and high-kicking as they performed a “punk prayer” that urged the Virgin Mary to become a feminist and help them drive Vladimir Putin from power.

Arrested in March, theyÂ’ve already spent five months behind bars. They initially faced a maximum of seven years in prison, although the prosecutor is pushing for a three-year sentence.

A little description of their typical activities:

A loosely aggregated art “collective,” Pussy Riot formed in the fall of last year in protest of what appeared to be Vladimir Putin’s inevitable return to Russia’s presidency. The three Pussies on trial—all of whom are described as middle-class and well-educated—had previously belonged to a self-described “terrorist” performance-art group called Voina (War), whose feats included painting a giant penis on a St. Petersburg bridge, shoving a raw chicken inside a human vagina at a supermarket, and having live group sex at an art museum. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova participated in the latter event while nine months pregnant and reportedly gave birth four days later.

So, a fun bunch of ladies.   I can't say I agree with their methods or most of the message, but they're being railroaded for what is, at    most,        a minor offense.   Rude, yes.     Profane,    most probably.     Hate crime?   Give me a fucking break.

209 Always be nice to the receptionist, the janitors and the copy guy/office runner. If not? Yeah, your life will be hell.

This reminds me of a story I was told while starting my first engineering job way back last century; the program's engineers at [huge famous automotive client] were forced to sit through a bullshit "sensitivity training" where they were told not to treat the female engineers like secretaries.  And when the female engineers told the program's secretaries about that, the secretaries that served company management heard about it, and the suits had to make their own coffee until an apology was issued.

To the secretaries, mind you, not to the engineers forced to sit through the bullshit.

It may be apocryphal. That doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

And    likely very true;      if not in that particular instance then somewhere else.

I say this a lot, but it's true in my experience:   the "higher ups" in most big organizations couldn't work a photocopier, format a document, use an Excel worksheet, or, yes, make coffee, if you had a gun to their head.    Ask them to hook up an LCD projector to a laptop     and they're     as    effective as a bonsai tree at getting the damn thing to work.    Yet there's always the attitude from them that the people who CAN do these things are "little people" who are too stupid to do "real work."    Sort of like how they look at plumbers or electricians    or auto mechanics,      even as they're paying them $60/hour to     unclog their toilets, hook up their ceiling fan, and fix their Benz.

The ones who CAN do all those things?   Those are the      GOOD bosses.   Because they know that their idiot counterparts don't know what the     fuck they're talking about.

So the leftist looney's are calling  the Romney's selfish for keeping a horse;·        And employing a groom with a family to support.
·        And paying for feed thatÂ’s sold by someone with a family to support
·        and transported in trucks by someone with a family to support
·        and manufactured in a factory by people with families to support
·        from stuff thatÂ’s grown by farmers with families to support.
·        And having a barn built by construction workers with families to support
·        with materials trucked by drivers with families to support
·        from factories with workers with families to support.
My response to those nuts is:  that one horse has put more Americans to work than that horseÂ’s ass in the White House.

279 I say this a lot, but it's true in my experience: the "higher ups" in most big organizations couldn't work a photocopier, format a document, use an Excel worksheet, or, yes, make coffee, if you had a gun to their head. Ask them to hook up an LCD projector to a laptop and they're as effective as a bonsai tree at getting the damn thing to work. Holy shit, I was just telling someone here about pretty much that situation at my old office. I finally pitched a fit at my boss about how I was the only one who ever had to run the presentation equipment for trial even though a. that was supposed to be the paralegal doing it, b. I had spent 40+ hours training others to do it, c. we paid professionals to come train them and d. I would get screamed at by the other lawyers for going to trial instead of doing the briefing work they needed. It took me saying the next time it happened I was walking out, even if we were mid-trial, to get that to stop. A few weeks later, I was teaching a CLE seminar so I was going to be out of the area and unavailable by phone while one of the lawyers was going to be using the presentation stuff for a major mediation. I typed up a seven page step by step list of how to set everything up and how to fix the common problems. Lunch time comes and I check my cell and sure enough there are multiple messages. The first one was "Do not scream at me when you call me back but we can't find the list." I call back and was all "What did you do? I taped the list to the top of the projector! How did you lose it!" Apparently, the lawyer was the one who opened the case and he ripped the papers off and tossed them in the trash because hey those couldn't be important. I then spent 20 minutes trying to trouble shoot over the phone before I finally said "You did take the cap off the lens, right?" Yeah. Rocket. Fucking. Surgeons. There are no words for how happy I am to no longer work there.

Russkies love them some authoritarianism and feel uncomfortable without it. Considering their chaotic history, it's understandable from their perspective. Ugly, but understandable. That's why I keep saying that Putin should just call himself Tsar Vladimir I and get it over with -- they might as well dispose of the charade of democracy because they'll never get the hang of it.

326 "Do not scream at me when you call me back but we can't find the list." Pure awesome. It's even funnier when you know that the person who called me was not the person at the mediation. She made someone else from the office call because she knew that if D. called then I would be more likely to be laughing at the absurdity of it than screaming at the stupidity. This is the same firm where I was screamed at, quite literally, by one of the lawyers when the video feed for a video deposition died out in the middle of it. I get called over to trouble shoot and discover that our internet is down too which made sense since it was the same line for that and the v conference. I check everything, it seems fine on our end, I call the company and discover that pretty much half of the Eastern seaboard is down because a trawler cut through one of the major lines. I go in and tell my lawyer this. There are two opposing counsel there and three others on a conference call. She starts screaming at me about how dare I cut a line in the middle of something so important and make it come back and call them right away. She quite literally could not comprehend that there was nothing that I could do.

Nice. I got a good one from just yesterday morning. The company I work for does painting and installs wallcovering in commercial spaces. I get a call in the morning that "your wallcovering is failing on this project." The call comes from the project manager of the company that has contracted me. Incidentally, they are also the ones removing the old wallpaper and prepping the walls. So I call my wallcovering installer. "Why is the paper falling off the walls?" "It's not. The walls are falling off the walls." "You said what?" "They weren't prepped right. The drywayll mud is literally coming off the walls behing the paper." So I call project manager back to tell him, nicely, that he's the one fucking the chicken. Long pause, then in a very angry voice "Well? What are WE going to do to fix this?!?!?" "Excuse me? We? I don't do drywall. I don't know drywall. I don't even understand why this is happening. I do paint and wallcovering. This is why I excluded wall prep from my quote." Another pause. "Fine! I'll just take care of it myself I guess!" Click.

He has a best friend who is the sweetest kid, my wife and I love him to death, but bless his little heart, he's not very smart. He'll have a great life, but it wont be an intellectual one. My wife refers to him as "Zack" when we're talking alone, after the occasionally recurring character on The Big Bang Theory, Penny's ex boyfriend. Tonight he was over and I refered to him as "Biden". My wife whirled on me and said "Don't say that, that's cruel!"

It's not just the     "superiors" who are idiots, of course.    My sister used to be the Admin Assistant to    a     Division Director over at HHS, and she'd get a lot of phone calls from     the general public.     Some of them were just so mind-numbingly stupid she couldn't even get mad.        One she found particularly weird was when a woman called her one day...

"Division of Public Health,    Director's Office.  How may I help you?"

"I'd like to talk to the National Guard please."

"Ma'am,    I'm afraid you've dialed the wrong number.     You've reached the Division of Public Health."

"Yeah, I know.   Transfer me to the    National Guard."

"Ma'am, I don't have a number for the National Guard."

"You're government, aren't you?"

"Yes, Ma'am, but I don't have the number for every government agency in the state of New Hampshire.   Do you have a phonebook, or access to the internet?"

"G-ddammit,  why won't you transfer me to the National Guard!"

And on and on, for    at least five minutes.    Finally my sister gave up, Googled "NH National Guard," and gave    the general contact number     to the woman.    It was amazing.   It was like she literally picked the first     State agency she could find out of the phonebook,   called,    and assumed whoever answered would act like a Ma     Bell    operator.

I was doing a three week assignment at a firm in OH and the one partner comes in all shamefaced and asks me to help her to fax something. In her defense, we'd gotten new multifunction machines the day before and she could not remember what to do. We both go in, stand there and I go well this looks like it, put the paper down and hit the button. The lights go out. We stared at each other and she goes "Oh god did we do that?" Turns out the office building was in the same grid as the federal courthouse and there was a bomb scare and hey Speed was right! The Feds really do turn off the power to the grid. It just so happened that the power went down just as I hit the button.

367 well, this is funny (on huffington post):

Meghan McCain blasted Joe Biden for his controversial "chains" remarks on Tuesday, calling the vice president an "idiot" over his "race-baiting" comments.

During an interview on KTAR's "Mac and Gaydos" radio show, McCain spoke candidly about her distaste for Biden, who stirred controversy when he told a crowd of supporters in Virginia that Mitt Romney and other Republican candidates would "put y'all back in chains."

"I'm just so sick of this BS from [Biden]." McCain said. "I can't stand Joe Biden because I think stupid is worse than being mean."

"I just think any insinuation that in America we're going to go back to slavery times is delusional," McCain continued. "It's ridiculous and it is ignorant... If I were Obama, I would've never picked Joe Biden in the first place. I think he's an idiot. And I know people think it's cute because he's like crazy grandpa and they like his gaffes but I think it's offensive."

Yeah I know, I'm hearing it too, "aw leave him alone, he's a funny great guy but he's everyone's grandpa so we deal"....but she needs to amend her remark, to "deliberatively" stupid. She needs to get across that he knows better but is saying this outrageous dumb wrong stuff purposefully. 389 In addition to all the other issues noted about the second video, here's one thing that bugs me about his logic in proving his IQ is higher than the guys asking a question - in the first year of law school he said he was in the bottom 2/3 or his class , but then when he came back he ended up in the top 1/2 of his class. Being in the bottom 2/3 would put him somewhere below the 67th percentile, while being in the top half puts him somewhere above the 50th percentile. Now since he did not say bottom third or bottom half in the first sentence, it seems logical that he was above that level, but below the top 1/3 at graduation. Therefore my conclusion is that once he decided he did want to be in law school & returned, his class standing actually dropped.
