7 CANAL + actually has made some great films. I enjoy a lot of them immensely. I think that is because most Hollywood stars have managed to piss me off at one time or another. When I watch CANAL + I can enjoy the film undistracted by angry baggage.

Wolverine called last night, wanted to know if I was still planning on hitting the junkyards today. Insisted on coming along, so the three of us hit a couple of yards and found another beater like mine to use as a parts car. It was nice having the help getting the thing onto the trailer. We were on the way back when he sprung his surprise on me, apparently he called for backup. Had a bunch of his friends meet us at my place, so I've got a ton of help putting the beater back together. One of them actually works for a body shop, and damn, this kid really knows his stuff. With him and the tools he brought along we got the front and back glass replaced in probably an hour and a half - by myself it would have been an all day job at best. So we're taking a break at the moment, I ran down to the local grocery and I'm feeding the crew. Burgers and dogs on the grill, nothing special - but they seem to be enjoying themselves.

18 Well, if that kid hadn't arrived in a closet, I'd expect to find him in one anyway. Have a look: skinny, caved-in looking, recessive face. Looks like he'd last, like, 25 seconds in the saddle, if he ever even got there. Since they don't show him licking his eyebrows, you have to figure he used his screenwriter skilz to get into that boudoir in the firstest place.

How in the world would such a precious lamb get those mean old sojers to shoot at him like that? Che envy. DonQuixote fixation.

Or maybe he's her long-lost kid brother, or something. What's the saying in the FIllum dept? "We'll fix it in post."

That's really cool. Glad you've got some help. .....I was also glad to read that they're going to be patrolling the parking lot from now on....so maybe your hard work on the beater won't get messed up. ....It's awful that you're having to be out the expense for all the repairs.

Well the guy that works at the body shop thought I was nuts for putting this much work into that old piece of crap car. He even said we'd probably be better off fixing the one I pulled out of the junkyard, it would most likely be less work and the body is in better shape. He got it though when I explained to him why it had to be the original beater I drove to work Monday. Now he's a man on a mission - lol. I offered to pay him and all of the rest of them for the work - they all turned me down flat. So the junker itself cost me about what it would cost to have just had the front windshield replaced. And it looks like were going to be here into the evening, since the driver's side door and front quaterpanel need replaced as well. So I'll be headed back down to the grocery store here soon, this time I'm getting steak. They earned it

I know this might seem weird, but this is actually working out.

By standing up to that Che-tshirt kid, you helped your company get rid of some rot and deadwood.

The night shift Republican/Con lady knows that there is at least one person that thinks like her, and also found the courage to stand up.

The kid "Wolverine" proved himself, made a friend, and gained a little stature in this world.

And you, aside from all the pain and heartburn, I think, have the respect of management at your company. You're either muley stubborn or have a steel backbone (or both), but they know who you are now.

Nothing worthwhile in this world is easy. A couple of years ago, I stood up to our former GM (who was a real jerk, now fired) over an issue and made a point of either "this" or I'm quitting. It was the right thing to do, although I've got a family, etc.

The years since have vindicated me. No one should go looking for a fight, but it's never wrong to stand up for what's right. It's funny how that works, and sometimes pays big dividends that you could never imagine.

Kudos, big guy. You earned this.

I guess I could see it if somehow he thought it might help get his son off the hook, but I can't see him paying someone to trash my car simply out of revenge. My original beater was red, the only one I could find of the same model in good enough shape and with intact glass is brown. It looks pretty damn ridiculous. I'd have to call it "Frankencar". But as long as it's legal to drive when it's all said and done, that's all that matters.

I'd guess so. The thing is, I feel a little sympathy since there was an attempt to do a couple things at ours with unseemly haste. If Luap Nor were just not a complete fruitcake, they'd actually have most of my sympathy. Since it's quite clear he is a complete fruitcake, I'm a lot more concerned as to their intentions.

I was able to get info about local Republican meetings and such. Since the chairman made it clear everyone was welcome to participate, by the time the next set of elections roll around they won't be able to claim they've been kept out of the process.

It's been a real rollercoaster couple of weeks, but I've got some great young folks here and were enjoying a nice day. Kind of a strange feeling not being allowed to do anything in my own garage. Feel a little odd just sitting here watching, but I've got a little blonde watching me like a hawk and scolding me every time I try to do much of anything. I'll be making a food run here pretty soon, called the grocery store and had them set aside some steak for me, going to make sure the crew gets fed good tonight. Even the crazy neighbor has poked his head out and came up for a chat. I guess he's in a sociable mood today, he left his sandwich board that reads "The end is nigh" at home.. lol

Hadn't really considered that but I guess it would make sense. I'll be touching base with the police on Monday to see if they've made any progress. Honestly I'm not holding out a lot of hope, I seriously doubt this case is very high on their priority list, but I guess it won't hurt to make a call or two and see if maybe I can't get them to at least look into it when time permits.
