Two miles from town. She came back a couple times telling me to get in, 30 texts saying she loved me. I said choose me as a friend, or being a democrat. She made the mistake of choosing Zero. I kind of regret the $50 dollar dinner I had just bought, but what the heck. This shit needed to come to a head. I cannot be friends with anyone that supports SCoaMF. Was kind of looking for a good excuse to end it anyway. Seriously, I couldn't look myself being close friends with someone like that. Oh well.

The sad part is that much of what Derbyshire said was true, as far as the off-the-chart criminality and safety issues.
Heather McDonald has said the same thing in several well-researched articles.
It is shocking, statistically.
However, Derbyshire's intelligence stuff was truly offensive, I have to certainly agree. That was practically from Der Sturm.

His latest provocation, in a webzine, lurches from the politically incorrect to the nasty and indefensible. We never would have published it, but the main reason that people noticed it is that it is by a National Review writer. Derb is effectively using our name to get more oxygen for views with which weÂ’d never associate ourselves otherwise. So there has to be a parting of the ways. Derb has long danced around the line on these issues, but this column is so outlandish it constitutes a kind of letter of resignation. ItÂ’s a free country, and Derb can write whatever he wants, wherever he wants. Just not in the pages of NR or NRO, or as someone associated with NR any longer.

the large horns can get tangled in the decorations.

Well what I'm getting at is the tendency to assign worth to a human being based on factors such as intelligence. If a person is deemed to be smart, he is most often valued more than a person who is dumb. One reason is that theoretically the smart person will contribute more to society than the dumb person. In other words, the smart person can be utilized by and is more beneficial to the group. Thus, people are looked at as not having intrinsic worth, but rather on their projected productivity.

For tonight, we have a prime rib, preceded by a spinach salad and accompanied by asparagus (with hollandaise).
Tomorrow, we have a boneless leg of lamb.

Boots.
I fancy a polished motorcycle boot, though western boots are acceptable. A nice walking boot also suits.
Avoid ankle boots unless you look like a young John Lennon and have the disposition of a young Paul McCartney.

"But even if true, so what? I mean really, so what? Are people just the sum of their scores on a test?"
You need an IQ of about 90 to understand addition.
You need an IQ of about 92.5 to understand subtraction.
You need an IQ of about 95 to understand multiplication.
You need an IQ of about 97.5 to understand division.
You need an IQ of about 100 to understand fractions.
You need an IQ of about 102.5 to be able to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
You need an IQ of about 105 to understand "Algebra I".
You need an IQ of about 110 to understand "Geometry".
You need an IQ of about 115 to understand "Algebra II".
You need an IQ of about 120 to understand "Freshman Calculus".
But as of the late 1990s, the average black child born in the USA had an IQ of about 80 [AND FALLING!!!].
Which is to say: The average black child in the American schools today is about a full "standard deviation" stupider than they would need to be in order to reliably answer a question like the following:
Dick has five tennis balls, Sally has five tennis balls, and Spot has five tennis balls. Altogether, how many tennis balls do they have?
A) 0
B) 5
C) 10
D) 15
E) 20
I.e only about 16% of American black children can ever even hope to be able to tackle a problem like that - for the other 84%, the problem is way out beyond the limits of their innate ability.

There is a definite theme within the black community that school is a waste of time because the black man/woman will never get the job/recognition they deserve. Those who avoid this poisonous mindset, Clarence Thomas, CJ Watts, Bill Cosby, are nominally accepted if at all, and considered Uncle Toms because they used the same system the failing blacks, and Latinos and whatever did, but they worked and succeeded.
I have heard Alan Keyes speak, and his debate against leftist harridan Alan Dershowitz was a slaughter. This is the single greatest piece of public speaking I have ever heard. Sounded like the prose of the Gettysburg Address. Keyes, along with those named above, are successful not because they were higher IQ'd but because they worked and applied themselves. Period. Barky couldn't carry Keyes's used shorts, by way of a speech either. There's that.
As to the gang mentality, yeah, there's a lot of it, just like there are an equally large number of barrios and majority Hispanic hoods a white or a BLACK would do well to steer clear of. Hispanics do worse on standardized testing that whites , as a rule, but Asians do better, as do Indians. So measuring intelligence is subjective, and the impetus for balck and other minority kids to excel at school isn't there. You never see Jesse jackass Jackson, or "Rev" Al Sharptongue at a school, or a rally for non-unionized schooling. The black community and its titular leadership long ago became a wholly owned sudsidiary of the Democreep© party, so they will only endorse unionized, publicly funded, Dem controlled education. Or Sports. No Einsteins in rainbow Smush or Al Sharptongue's tribe of invective throwers.
Ultimately, when the rest of the black community starts to think outside the Dem paradigm, things will change and get better...til then they have signed up for being cast as helpless, lazy and slower than average. And none of that is true of folks who pursue excellence and education. Van Jones is college educated and still a dullard. You get out what you put in, basically.
But as they say, impressions count, and the general impression out there is the standard disgruntled minority demanding something a la the Dem working model, and there, failure is always an option.
For the record, my niece is half Hispanic and just topped her class in math, so she gets it. And I drive the success issue every time I get the chance.
And I wear jeans rarely cause they push mah junk to the wrong side for some reason and made getting groped by the last GF complicated. I like a good, clean, refreshing GF grope. But that's just me.

Murray's infamous Footnote #44: In the 18 years between 1979 and 1997, the mean IQ for blacks plummeted from 83.7 to 80.2.

I don't like this Derbyshire cat, ideology of not. He's a turd, and a bad name to slander conservatism with.
I think any cod piece should be leather lined brass, well polished and worn on the outside to scare the commoners. But hey, I like sharp things and guns, so I'm suspect anyway.
For the record, my high shool standardized IQ was 125 or something, and 133 by the military test I took. I learned Russian, some Serbian, some Korean, and was a cryptanalyst. Signal intel, dontcha know.
Not a genius, not a dullard. Like most folks, color being not that important. Culture is what ruins people's minds.
I'm done now.

Hey, now. I'm gonna call BS on this. You come to work with me and meet a bunch of doctors, anesthetists, PAs and all who happen to be black. Innate intelligence needs direction and guidance, honing. Color is irrelevant to me. Smarts count, period.
Bet Mongolians and rainforest people do crap-poor too. Exposure to what you're supposed to know surely does help. Color isn't the issue, brains are the same, by volume and structure. I know, it's what I do as a civilian. But culture, resentment, and motivation are not innate: they must be taught and encouraged.

My husband got a thank-you note from a miner who was educated at one of those schools. In English. And the damn thing read like it was written by Winston Churchill.
Ghana is a very religious country, evenly divided between Catholics and Presbyterians (weird mix due to missionaries who showed up). Families are intact and very loyal to each other. My husband is unafraid to drive through the cities by himself, and he has many Ghanaian friends.
It is the CULTURE here which is killing black kids and holding them back. Growing up where you have been told all your life that you are a loser and a victim and you won't accomplish much.
Furthermore, this poisonous idea about work and education is spreading through our country. Been to a white apartment complex or trailer park? Have you looked at the people in line at the welfare offices? Have you watched some of the people on reality TV?
My dad always dated the trouble in schools to the time of that show "Welcome Back, Kotter." He felt it glorified bad students and made ignorance look "cool." Probably pretty close to the truth.

This is my observation as well. I think it was a commenter here who said about a year ago that what the "black community" does to their children is very close to child abuse. Fostering greed, covetousness, and paranoia will mess up anyone no matter what skin tone they may have.

I think being brilliantly perceptive in a sea of sophistry drove Keyes to the brink of madness.
I worked on his Illinois Senate campaign in 2004, and saw several of his speeches.
Absolutely mesmerizing speaker.
I still remember him saying back then, almost prophetically, that the nation didn't face an economic crisis, but a moral crisis.
But yeah, the droning, straw man slaying Obama is an inspirational orator.

Seems like I hit a theme we agree on. CULTURE is what drives the black kids toi underachieve and then feel like they're owed something. Same thing for recent immigrants from Central America who want everything they've seen on tv.
The downward pressure to under achieve and underperform is perfectly traced back to Democreep® politics, too. The Dems want a permanent, under-performing, dependent class that relies on their gubmint largesse to get by. The Dems control the inner cities where the Cabrini Greens of the world are found and encouraged. Kids, regardless of race, who learn to think for themselves become problem solvers and that means higher standardized scores for anyone. And they become independents or conservatives, usually.
So higher scores, more analytical thinking, more independence means trouble for the narrow, autocratic Dem Party Line™. If black folks take their own path, like Clarence Thomas, or Alan Keyes, they begin to think beyond their black "leaders" and their tired rhetoric. And that means nothing but trouble for the Dem Party Line™ and its dreadful results.
Does anyone else remember Thomas being lectured by some lib senator about how he owed his judgeship and legal degree to affirmative action and not his own study and hard work? I remember how one comentator said he wasn't "black enough" to replace Thurgood Marshall on the SC. More than one lib senator implied Thomas was a dim bulb because he was a black conservative and thus, must be unfit intellectually for the position. That kind of crap really pissed me off. Still does.
Intelligence has a lot of measuring points, testing being just one among them, and that data can be construed a million ways from Sunday. I take little comfort from knowing that the average black male stands a less than 48% chance of graduating High School, not just on time but ever. That is a stunning bit of news there. And it highlights why blacks do poorly in general, as they are not encouraged , in general. The Huxtables are the exception and not the rule in black America, and that's a shame.
And Derbyshire seems like a douche bag.
