— LauraW Ooooooo.
The Republican presidential candidate refuses to identify his biggest donors who "bundle" money for his campaign. He often declines to say who's meeting with him or what he's doing for hours at a time. He puts limits on media access to his fundraisers. And he resists releasing all of his tax returns, making just a single year public after facing pressure to do so.-----------snip-----------------------
Not that Obama has been totally open, either.
Oh, no? "Not...totally open?" The article goes on to insinuate that while Obama restricts access to information, he has his reasons. Somehow Romney is more sinister about it.
Let's consult the Wayback Machine, since reporters do not care to do any actual work anymore. Nor do they have any personal memories of 2008 other than of following their heartthrob breathlessly around the country and writing "Mrs. Gregory Christina Obama" in lipstick on their hotel mirrors.
Democratic National Convention, 2008. Colorado. ABC reporters are on a public sidewalk watching who is going to meet Obama.
DENVER -- Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.
This is what happens to reporters who want to know who Obama's big donors are.
And THIS is what happens to Romney's big donors, when Obama identifies them to his deranged fanbase and the MBM (but I repeat myself).
I certainly can't imagine why Romney isn't hurling all his files open for media perusal. Very mysterious.
Let's talk about what is, and is not sinister, now, please. PLEASE. We have a lot to say on that front lately.

Even more OT: I got a call from my Senator re: Lawfare after a letter/response/slightly angry followup. The system kinda works!

You know, is it just me or is really, really, REALLY cheesy to refer to the sitting President by his first name in any sort of semi-official or official correspondence?
Also, Jon Corzine could not be reached for comment on the subject of secretive bundlers...'cause no one seems to know where the hell he is.

OT: Blumenthal is up at the Holder Oversight Hearing. He just said something along the lines of, "I don't think you should pay any attention to people who are saying you should consider resigning because of various issues. And I also think that, if this discussion was held six months from now, the tenor of the discussion would be very different."
(That's just a paraphrase, but the second half is very close to the actual quote)
So this raises several questions for me:
1) Is Blumenthal suggesting that Obama is probably going to get kicked out in November?
2) Is Blumenthal suggesting that a Republican administration's DOJ would not be scrutinized as closely by Republican senators, even for such gross malfeasance?
3) Is Blumenthal implying racism as the reason for the current scrutiny?
4) IS Blumenthal actually a walking skeleton wearing a skinsuit?

This is the type of behavior increasingly engendered by the caustic and terribly tainted mode of Team Obama and more broadly, the DNC of which Mr. Obama's leads.
The stark hypocrisy within the DNC political machine when it comes to money and campaign bundling goes beyond the pale and into the land of sociopathic in its consistent ability to completely discount the facts through a theme of projection.
While the DNC did not have direct control over the Denver law enforcement, they have created a strong arm Banana type republic repression when it comes to access, transparency and fair play. And it is precisely this that provides the directive and signaling for the type of behavior exacted on a press that presumably is still covered under the first amendment in this country.
During the 2008 campaign, we should remind ourselves which candidate it was whose campaign turned off all internet security so as to claim ignorance from where on-line donations were ultimately coming from.
Disgusting tactics at all costs is ugly, very ugly indeed.

Yeah, maybe. And if this were a sane nation I'd not be too worried about it. But here's how it will be enforced:
1. If you look seedy or dangerous or dirty-poor, you can cuss all you want without result. Nobody wants to go out of the way to risk annoying you, and what's the point of trying to make you pay money you don't have?
2. If you look like a docile, law-abiding type, especially with money, you'll suddenly find out that "darn" is an objectionable word, and there's no recourse to paying the fine - no day in court.
I'd be pretty happy if they actually enforced some of the wiser laws already on the books. Like the junk and noise ordinances, for example.
Posted by: Reactionary at June 12, 2012 09:28 AM (xUM1Q)
WRONG-- They're trying to legislate more income. And $20.00/pop is low enough that most people won't complain too loudly.
There are an incredible number of difference between using offensive language (offensive to whom?) and, as you say, peeing in public. For one thing, if everyone cursed in public we'd have a slightly courser culture. If everyone peed in public, we'd have a breeding ground for plague and disease in our streets.
Back to that "offensive to whom" question- that's a serious one. Are they going to maintain a list of specific forbidden words. Let me just say enhance your calm. Or are they, instead, going to say, "Oh, if you offended someone, your language must have been offensive!"
Neither of those work.

I acknowledge the difference between cussing and peeing, but let's not go overboard. I don't think that pee presents the same epidemiological risks as, say, feces piles. In a reasonable society, peeing gets the $20 fine, and cussing gets you public scorn and dirty looks.
On a related note, the idea that peeing in public can get you on a sex offender list is beyond absurd. That's what happens when do-gooders run amok.

They found a solution to that in the UK. Play classical music in your store and around the store front, and the young people will flee in terror.
Why not just toss the miscreants out?

My God! He declines! For hours at a time! Do you know how long it takes to perform a Mormon ritual human sacrifice to Satan? Hours.
To give them the benefit of the doubt, the press is no longer accustomed to a Presidential candidate who can safely be left unsupervised for hours at a time, so I can see why they'd be a little panicky.
