— Ace Ehhhh... I guess this is a story.
Viewers will cast their votes with their clickers Tuesday.
If you're a Couric fan who misses those bygone mornings on the Today show, then click to Good Morning America, where Couric, now an ABC star, is subbing all week for co-host Robin Roberts. But maybe you love the "mama grizzly" panache of Sarah Palin. And maybe you're still miffed by how Couric, then anchoring the CBS Evening News, went to town on Palin during the 2008 presidential race. Then tune into NBC's Today, where, during the 8 a.m. (EDT) hour, Palin will serve as a guest host at Couric's old haunt. (Take that, Katie!)
The politics here are complicated: If Palin "wins" in the ratings, than NBC, the most left-wing of all the networks, wins.
If Palin loses (which I don't think she will, but if she does lose) than NBC could lose the thing that makes Today very profitable, which is being able to brag they haven't lost in the ratings to Good Morning America or any other competitor since 1995.
So... to the extent we care at all, do we want NBC continuing to raking in premium advertising prices for its low-cost, profitable morning show?
Anyway, they'll be on tomorrow.

(Todd should have an hour a day too - just saying I'd time-shift it too!)

I really liked Palin when she first came out in 2008. Down to earth, a good conservative, built herself up from nothing. The goofy accent didn't bother me.
After the 2008 shellacking, I had hoped that she would immerse herself in learning everything there was to know about economics and foreign policy, and reinvent herself in 2012. She's smart enough that she could have done that.
This move kills any political chance she has in the future. It's too stereotypical-- a soccer mom type hosting a morning chat show. And that's okay--if she's decided that public politics isn't her thing anymore, I certainly don't begrudge her making a good living. At least the leftist looters can't sue her every week like they didn when she was governor. I wish her the best. And I hope she shellacks Couric.

Palin should 'look up' and make sure there are no giant buckets of green slime over her head.
I don't trust NBC at all. ....Period. ....For anything.

I wonder if the producer is professional or apolitical? It would be easy to make the host look bad by messing with the cameras and floor direction.

"I think that only works if you have a Nielson box, right?"
Not sure if the cable companies take part in that or not.
I asked our local cable provider a couple of months ago if they kept track of cancelled stations through the boxes, and never got a reply that made sense. Which means they probably do, but don't want to tell anybody. I was wanting to block out Current TV, AlJizzeera and a few other leftie stations just to put a burr under their saddle.

Katie will come on drunk and angry at the unfairness of the universe. In her altered state she'll imagine she has to perform some sort of Royal Nonesuch to win the ratings competition over that unspeakable trailer-dwelling chillbilly Palin who refuses to lie down and die like she's supposed to. I could forsee Katie maybe doing a strip tease and hoarsely singing an ironically-chosen pop music number as she demonstrates her famous "I'm taking a dump" dance moves.
Winning!

Gotta wonder if there's any connection between Palin's network shot and Easter....
Seriously, I happened to hear her "call-in" on the Today show this morning, and realized that standing more than 30 seconds of her accent, diction and vocabulary was more than I could stomach.
It will bring her some dough, and some added celebrity, but the net positive on her politics-wise strikes me as being slightly lower than zero.

If they ask her if she has been reading newspapers and magazines, she should say that she has been reading the Zimmerman 911 call transcript. Both the original and the NBC cover version.
Posted by: Alaskan at April 02, 2012 02:25 PM (vdMyh)
What's sort of odd about this is......why hasn't Fox put her on to do something like this?....She's been under some sort of 'exclusive contract' with them, hasn't she?
I mean, if Sarah were interested in standing in for someone, doing the News....how come Fox hasn't put her in on an hour show like this? ....Does this mean that she's no longer under contract with them?

She's only doing this because she needs to be the center of attention. The spotlight has been on the ACTUAL candidates and she can't handle that.
You know what will make me take her seriously? Pretending to be a talk-show host on scummy NBC! Yup, that'll add much-needed presidential gravitas to her thin resume... NOT.
This makes as much sense as her realiaty show on TLC (the same network of course as "Kate + 8", "Toddlers & Tiaras", and "LA Ink"), her being involved with DWTS, or her empty-platitudes on Fox.
But to read the Plinbots who make their way into my twitter stream this is earth-shattering, awesomest-est news!!eleventy11!
