— JohnE. Days from the start of the Iraq War until the fall of Baghdad: 21 Days.
Days from the Benghazi terrorist attack to securing the site: 17 Days and counting.
This is absolutely absurd. Explain to me how the situation on the ground is safe enough for a CNN reporter but not safe enough for an FBI investigation team? Is it the Goldilocks of dangerousness? Too dangerous for some but not too dangerous for others?
Furthermore, why is the Administration admitting that this is terrorism treated as some sort of endgame? Congratulations, you admitted the obvious. Now, what the hell are you going to do about it.

I do as well. The speed with which it was turned into a call for suppression of free speech seemed too fast to me. On the other hand, it requires an actual conspiracy for it to *not* have been organic, and I don't think I'm ready to go there. And yet, how did Scoamf even know about a video practically no one had seen yet in order to blame it?

Doubtful, it was probably a local who is connected to the news bureaus.
He more than likely was close to action as it unfolded and rummaged around the scene during the action or in its aftermath and came upon the diary.
He then probably sold it to CNN.

What happened to the Marine FAST Team that was being sent into Libya? They could secure the site with a little help from the Libyan Government, who actually seem to be trying to run their country and appear to hate what happened to the ambassador.

It never was merely a 'crime' scene, and it surely isn't now that people have been trampling all over it for going on three weeks. They went for the wrong letters: needed CIA, NSA, NRO, all that stuff, and USMC, not FBI.
I understand wanting to keep a light footprint because it might upset the Libyans to see US troops. Islam hates it when soldiers show up on 'Muslim land.' Wanting to, but not actually doing it when lives are at stake.
To simply make "no assessment," get waivers of usual security, to ignore warnings, the date being 9/11, MSM reporting from Benghazi, State Dept travel warnings even. Amazing. Hard to avoid malice at some level. And a huge cover up using the First Amendment as the scapegoat.

ST. LOUIS • A St. Louis teen who authorities say is a member of a gang called the "Obama Boyz" has been charged with two shootings on Saturday.
Anthony Jamal Lee, 18, fired at a group of people from the window of a Grand Prix at 2:17 p.m., according to charges. A 13-year-old boy was struck in the side of his body and had to be hospitalized; a 17-year-old boy was grazed by bullets on his face and arm.
So I need some input from that Atlantic writer -- is this racist too? True, it's no Obama Phone, but it IS a documented St. Louis gang name.

These agencies were the direct result of the 9/11 commission recommendations to prevent further attacks.
The 9/11 attacks were the result of the wall of separation erected by Jaime Gorelick between the FBI and CIA, she was coincidently on the 9/11 commission, her primary role was to mitigate any blame of Clinton for intelligence shortcomings. Also remember, this was when Sandy Burger was actively destroying Clinton era memorandum that was being housed in the national archives.

And if an American citizen, particularly an official is killed overseas, FBI has the discretion to investigate. FBI was sent to the USsCole, Khobar, etc, to ensure that any evidence obtained was legal to use in court, should suspects be apprehended and extradited . They are usually on the ground within 48 hours of a major incident, so the fact the no one has shown up 15 days later is very telling.

Thirteen days later, President Clinton had some 75 cruise missiles launched, attacking camps in Afghanistan and a pharmaceutical facility in Sudan.
Yeah, people snark that Clinton hit a bunch of empty tents and an aspirin factory. The point is he had the balls to respond and defend the United States from her enemies.
Eighteen days of Obama lies and counting ....

I have no doubt Obama knew about the video on September 9th (or the 10th at the latest) when the Grand Mufti of Egypt condemned the video publicly and the Mufti's statements were carried on Egyptian television. I'm sure the Embassy noted it and I'm also sure the Embassy reported it to Washington.
As for why he continued the narrative this long, I haven't foggiest idea.

The Goldilocks FBI. I hope they bring lots of money to give to them (Hillary and Barry's idea of Middle Eastern diplomacy...see Drudge and how we are throwing millions to Egypt and Syria in thanks for their rioting, murder and mayhem).

Great a story as that would be the sad more likely story is that it just a classic Fubar that will be in the dustbin within weeks.

Thought Brett B said the video was shown on Egyptian TV prior to the Cairo demonstration, but I had never heard that before. I had also never heard that the Grand Muffer of Egypt condemned the video on Egyptian TV.
In any event, I think this is another progressive action designed to convince us that we need to give up just a little of the First Amendment's protection so that we can have "peace in our time". We will never get that 1A right back if they succeed, as they appear to be doing!.

Yeah, they showed bits of it. It was in the newspaper, too. So was the Mufti's condemnnation. Garance Franke-Ruta at The Atlantic wrote about this in her timeline the morning after it happened. On 9/12. I'd been harping on this since reading about it that day.
Here's her timeline: http://tinyurl.com/9ob29x2
I've also been harping on why Anne Patterson, our Ambassador to Cairo, has been conspicuously out of the picture in all this. Her embassy must have known about the Mufti's condemnation and had to have reported it to Washington if anyone there is worth a plugged nickle for doing their job. In fact she was in Washington at the time. I wonder why and when she left Cairo.

Did we send the FIB to Pearl Harbor to take bomb fragment samples back to Washington?
