— Pixy Misa That's how it's going to be framed anyway.
Early reports claim that Nikki Haley has chosen Tim Scott to replace Jim DeMint in the Senate.
Scott rode the Tea Party wave in 2010. He will be the first black Senator from the South since the 19th century and the only black senator in the current senate.
Ms. Haley seriously considered a number of potential contenders, particularly Jenny Sanford, the ex-wife of former Gov. Mark Sanford, who had been supportive of Ms. Haley in her race two years ago. But in choosing Mr. Scott, she selected a senator with a strong conservative voting record during his two years in Congress.Additionally, Mr. Scott offers a unique story and background, one that is in scant supply in the Republican party right now. Raised by a single mother, he was, by his account, a lost child who struggled with school and with life until a Chick-fil-A franchise owner took him on as a protégé and schooled him in conservative principles.
“Coming from a single-parent household and almost flunking out of high school,” Mr. Scott said in 2010, during his bid for the House, “my hope is I will take that experience and help people bring out the best that they can be.”
He was backed by the American Conservative Union and Jim DeMint.
Well that didn't take long, did it Luke Russert?
With Scott going to the Senate and Allen West losing, the 113th Congress will see no African-American Republicans in the House.

Tim Scott:
Black, 47 years old
Born 1965 (post Civil Rights Act)
Elected to the House of Representatives 2010
Conservative Republican
Michael Dukakis (potential Senate appointee):
White, 79 years old
Born 1933 (pre WWII)
Elected Governor of MA 1975-1979, 1983-1991
Lost 1988 Presidential election to George HW Bush
Liberal Democrat

This is the challenge we have been given. We can either sink into despair, or soldier on, fighting when we can and enduring with cheer when all else fails.
I wish things had turned out differently, but God's ways are sometimes mysterious. I still remember my sadness when Clinton wasn't thrown out of office, only to realize, several years later, that had Gore been the incumbent he would have probably won re-election, and thus would have been in charge when 9/11 happened.

What CAN be done is to set an example of a cheerful, helpful Christian in your community. Don't be ashamed of your faith, but don't beat people over the head with a Bible.
When I work at our church's food pantry, I would guess most of the people who come in are without churches. I try to remember that I am possibly the only contact they will have with someone who they know is Christian. I try to listen to their problems and I always thank them for coming in, just like if they were buying the stuff.
Anyway, nothing stops us from praying in our homes, in our cars, on coffee breaks, etc. We actually should pray daily for our sad country, which seems to be lost and floundering.

Most would consider me a loosely wrapped Christian, but even I know that this country's sense of morality has had a severe slip.
When people lose the knowledge of right and wrong, we get what we have now. Government intervening in every aspect of our lives in order to keep us "in line". The government becomes God.
Traditionalist should be pointing out that one of the biggest victories the left has managed is to remove God from all discourse in our schools. And it all started with banning school prayers.

The only problem with the idea was that we conservatives are principled people, and we often want to hold on to our principles even when they are not in our best interest. As our argument has long been that people need to be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin, we look at our potential politicians with a sort of Ethical color-blindness, while a huge chunk of the electorate does not.
Had we merely stooped to this unprincipled tactic, we could have won the war. It appears we let the enemy use this weapon, and now our nation is going to burn because we refused to compromise our principles.

The Liberals need to be very much afraid of the American right. Unlike other nations in which socialism/communism have taken root, the United States had a history of individual and collective independence with a willingness to back it up with violence when necessary. Adam Smith and Edmund Burke were not only contemporaries, they were good friends. Their philosophies are not mutually exclusive, they are synergistic.
If you do not know who is Edmund Burke, you are woefully inadequate to engage me in a debate.

Yeah I guess, but that ignores crucial demographics doesn't it.
Namely that there are very few AA's who self ID as Republican to begin with. (Ironic because may of them when pressed support conservative principles, but people like the Rev. Al have brainwashed them into voting the party not the issues.)

I don't hate gays, but I don't want to abridge basic rights and principles to pander to them. They have become a political elite.

Perhaps that's where the repubs went wrong. They decided to give up on American principles and become democrat-lite.

We lost track of the fact that our countrymen have become increasingly more shallow and stupid as the Liberal rot beamed at us constantly from Television had atrophied their ability to think objectively.
Posted by: DiogenesLamp at December 17, 2012 07:57 AM (bb5+k)
I did not always hate gays. But in my conversion to social conservatism, I realized how evil they were. Their influence must be eliminated to have a healthy pro-family environment.

And what should we do about the liberal members of your family or friends? Sorry, I think the disease is here to stay because we carry it with us.
Posted by: t-bird at December 17, 2012 11:54 AM (FcR7P)
It is my opinion that Liberalism is primarily a disease of prosperity. It is not the men who earned the wealth that engender it, but the wives and children of such men who exist in an environment of opulence which they could neither have created themselves, nor understood how they came to be in it.
You will note that the wealthiest areas of the nation are also the most Liberal. This is not an accident, and has been the case throughout human history. You are right, we carry the disease with us, and it manifests itself every time a nation becomes so prosperous that it can afford to tolerate utter stupidity in it's governance.

Last I checked it wasn't in the VRWC handbook, and I just got my updated copy last Wednesday. I suppose it might have changed since then, in line with Traditionalist's fabled conversion. I'll have to get on the horn with TPTB to make sure that there isn't a revision of the revision out there. The hotline is still through Goldline, right? Of did it get changed after the election?

But that's exactly what the left is doing now. They have given the government the power to be a god in so many people's life. And they're trying to jam that idea down the rest of our throats.
Why do you think we joke about Dear Leader being the messiah. But for a large part of America, he is.

Yes, because rampant secularism in government schools (except for Islam), unlimited access to and participation in a medium that routinely reduces women to barely sentient cum-guzzlers and the ability to freely wipe out an inconvenient pregnancy without thought are the pillars that made this country great.
