26 I still haven't seen it, but I'm pretty sure I'll believe it when I get around to it.

It still stuns me- the whole situation.

We knew that Libya was a home for terrorism
We knew that the entire Libyan delegation (both Tripoli and Benghazi) had sub-standard security.
We knew that a terror attack on 9/11 was likely.

Yet Obama and his Admin did nothing.

Then, when the attack occurred, we had assets ACROSS TOWN who could have helped, but were told to stand down.  Two of those who died were part of that group who disobeyed the stand down order, in the process saving about 20 lives.
Even if we hadn't had those assets, we had assets that could have been there in an hour (air support only), or 3 hours (ground troops, too).  The fight lasted 7 hours, but that support never came.

Afterwords, Obama and his Admin covered up for the actual perpetrators- the terrorists who killed our Ambassador- by blaming a YouTube video.

I'm losing my temper just thinking about it.

28 The worst problem is that President Bush signed an executive order that President Obama held on to, locking all presidential documents and paperwork away for 5 years after he leaves office. Convenient for the president, not so convenient for the truth.
Obama stays in office: Holder's justice department does nothing,
Obama leaves office: paperwork is declared secret and locked away, so nobody can do anything.

30 I'm reading Hillbuzz right now and found an article that looks interesting, although extremely speculative. Kevin DuJan is claiming that Obama's performance at the first debate was due to a detox attempt to wean him off of cocaine, in which they drugged him up with a combination of Adderall, Oxycontin, Dexedrine, Ultram, and amphetamines in an attempt to have him function at a decent level without a teleprompter. I'm not sure I'd buy that one, but the eventual fate of Valerie Jarrett may be the proof on it. She was supposedly the one in charge of keeping him manageable and is getting blamed by the Dems for letting him get to that state, which is going to bite ALL of them in the ass.

But it makes a big difference whether he realizes it immediately and goes to the police, or only after the confidence man is long gone. So part of the confidence racket is creating a period of uncertainty — a delaying process called “cooling out the mark.” We’re now seeing a cooling out” process, growing out of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the US consulate in Benghazi... yes

59 The folks at the networks are in no hurry to report this, ever. They view President Obama as sort of their avatar, the guy they'd be if only they were elected. He's them, in power, someone they totally connect to and feel a part of. Its very vicarious for them, and they are not giving that up when he's out of office. He's not just their creature, he's their substitute. If he loses the presidency he becomes the martyr who lost power because he tried to challenge the power structure too much, the man who paid a price for being too noble, too much a hero, and for trying to do the right thing. That won't ever go away, ever.

I agree, and I wouldn't stop there, I'd immediately start an examination of all executive orders ever given back to the Coolidge administration, one president at a time and yanking all the ones that were dated, unnecessary, wrong, or unconstitutional.
I'd make a big deal out of it too. Big announcements, stuff on the website, interviews, lists, make sure everyone knew. Frame it in terms of liberty and shrinking government.

83 You know, a month ago I'd have never said Oregon might go Romney, but I'd give it a 1% chance now. 88 Hey Horde, OT but I wanted to share the good, and insane, news. I'm an uncle for the 4th time! My BIL and SIL had their 3rd a little while ago.

So I've mentioned several times that my BIL is currently in Shitcanistan and wouldn't be here for the birth. Enter the wonderful invention of Skype. Due to the size of the previous 2 kids and wanting to try and allow my BIL to be "there", they induced my SIL about 1 1/2 weeks early. My SIL is in the hospital, nurses/doc check her and say "You're at about 4 cm, we'll come check you again in a bit." SIL has the laptop set up and is talking with her husband. Next thing you know, BABY ON THE FUCKING BED. That's right, no pushing, very little in the way of contractions and the baby quite literally falls out onto the bed. Pandemonium ensues. BIL is yelling "HOLY FUCK!!! She's here, she's here!!!" SIL is yelling for nurses. Nurses and doctors bum rushing the room.

Everybody's doing fine. Kinley is a healthy baby girl at 21 inches and 7lbs 6oz. (Which is close to 3lbs lighter than kid #2. Which may explain the easy birth.)

Just thought I'd share the good news and craziness. Carry on.

89 The same Gen. Ham that Tepid Air is reporting has retired?

Yes. An officer that retires is generally 'inactive reserve'. Not positive it is all branches, but my understanding is that they're still "in" the military unless they renounce their commission or are court martialed. That is: They're still military, and they can be recalled.

92 With so much power out in the NE and no time to bring it back on line in time, our worst fears have come to pass:

They're exposed. They have no reason to obey the law.

They have been handed a perfect excuse to step in and stop the election.

It will all be framed reasonably and calmly. The Media will promulgate the steps that will supposed to happen and either shun or excoriate anyone who questions their motives.

Those who are too vociferous and too public may find themselves incommunicado with no one knowing they've been silenced. (all it takes is a few days)

Then will come the excuses to extend the date of the future elections.

Keep in mind, this is how it's BEEN DONE in the past by other regimes in other countries. As a geezer, I've seen it happen.

Oh, sure, you say, "well that was in some 3rd world country".

And I say "yeah". "What's your POINT?"

It will all sound almost normal. They will underplay the importance and the breaking of a 240 year string of elections passing the power from one group to another. They will be helped by all the pieces done by the Media playing up the necessity, the fairness, they will bring forth examples (real or imagined) they will ignore others that are more threatening.

They are not just going to steal votes and stuff ballot boxes, they are going to steal the election outright and the country.

And it will all look good on paper.

Think you can fight them if they decide they're going to delay the election? Tell me how?

167 Not sure if this is mentioned in another thread yet, but Team Obama has already dropped the ball on Sandy. They retasked FEMA so that all communications are to be sent out via Twitter only. 172 Now Sandy is a foreign policy issue ...

A pro-Syrian government Facebook page, News Network of the Syrian Armed Forces, is reporting that the hurricane that touched down on the East Coast of the United States is not a natural catastrophe. Rather, itÂ’s the work of Syrian and Iranian scientists.

“Sources have confirmed that Hurricane Sandy, now buffeting America, was instigated by highly advanced technology in the possession of the Resisting Iranian regime and in coordination with our [Syrian] Resisting regime. These same sources have confirmed that there are experts in Syria who have contributed to this effort. This is punishment for those who attack Assad’s Syria.”

Well some perspective is needed here. Places like Tallahassee get stormed and flooded not so rarely. Places like Manhattan, almost never. Its like tornados, if you live in tornado country you're more ready for them and have buildings and a town more set up to survive them. But if you don't it really tears up the place. Or an earthquake. A 5 point earthquake doesn't hurt Los Angeles that much, but it would obliterate something like Atlanta.
New York City just isn't built for flooding, despite being on the ocean and a few feet above sea level. Floods hurt it a lot worse than places that get hit more often.

Because a hurricane is a 'warm core storm'...when the temperature dropped, on Hurricane Sandy, the Weather Service downgraded it to:

 "Post Tropical Cyclone".

The threat didn't change.

It was still a hurricane-strength storm!

But the Weather Service dickheads used a technicality to downgrade it, ahead of it making landfall.

I haven't heard anyone else talking about this.

They will probably try to cover it up.

First video features a clip of Obama. In his own words, "Gaddafi has lost the legitimacy to lead, and he must leave." To which I responded that like Gaddafi, Obama has lost the legitimacy to lead, and must leave.

My point was substantiated by the proverb I quoted. The "scales of justice" balance on that narrow point some also reference as the razor's edge.

Unlike my point, you would dish out judgment without all due respect for justice.  Your point, more ego obesity for you at the expense of everyone else?  Even Dorian Gray saw himself for what he became.

249 Jcw46, do you think they'd get away with that? They would not - I guarantee you, they would not. Any loyalty the military owes the President, they owe him when he acts legitimately within the Constitution. Sure, Obambi's bent things a bit from time to time and gotten covered for, but the scenario you paint would be such an outrage, such a diarrhoeal purging of contempt upon that document, that it could not be ignored. Who knows? He might even find his Secret Service detail loath to step in harm's way for him.

255 The same Gen. Ham that Tepid Air is reporting has retired? Yes. An officer that retires is generally 'inactive reserve'. Not positive it is all branches, but my understanding is that they're still "in" the military unless they renounce their commission or are court martialed. That is: They're still military, and they can be recalled. Posted by: Al at October 30, 2012 02:41 PM (MzQOZ) Not to feed a conspiracy, but he retired immediately. He retires, maybe he will talk. I was a JAG. If Ham was relieved of command for insubordination, he likely would have also been offered at least an Article 15 (non-judicial punishment). An officer offered an Article 15 can turn it down and retire if retirement eligible. Just sayin. The timing is interesting

It's always easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.

Had he ordered the entire carrier strike group to rain hell upon Benghazi while our Navy Seals extracted everyone from the compound, he could have went on tv the next morning and explained what happened and what was at stake.  Our ambassador and everyone else at the compound would be alive today.  Any momentum that Romney had would have been completely wiped out had TFG any balls or brain cells.  It would have been a true gutsy call and he would have won re-election 80-20 or better.

He fucked himself by NOT doing anything and voting present again.

Christie was complimentary and gracious but not effusive in talking about the response from President Obama - overall it was like he was saying "No complaints from me, but that's his job: to make sure we Governors have what we need to take care of our people."

326 Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, ran a piece Saturday afternoon titled "Interesting Rumor Concerning General Carter Ham and Stand Down Order." This piece is presented as a rumor. It suggests that General Ham was told to stand down from sending aid to Benghazi, that General Ham on his own decided to proceed, and that he was then relieved of his command. Remember, all rumor at this point. On 18 October 2012, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta participated in a "DOD News Briefing on Efforts to Enhance the Financial Health of the Force." In his introductory remarks, Mr. Panetta said: "Today I am very pleased to announce that President Obama will nominate General David Rodriguez to succeed General Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command . . ." I'll have a lot more to say about General Carter Ham's service in the months ahead, but let me say this. Under his leadership, AFRICOM has played a very central role in some very important missions, from the NATO campaign in Libya that led to the fall of Gadhafi; to successful counterterrorism efforts in Somalia and Yemen; to efforts that we are now involved in, in Nigeria, Mali and elsewhere. General Ham has really brought AFRICOM into a very pivotal role in that challenging region. Myself and the nation are deeply grateful for his outstanding service. This is not a rumor, but it also does not provide a reason for the change. Note that Mr. Panetta gives no insight into General Ham's future. General Ham is not quite 61 years old and so has three years left before mandatory retirement age of 64. General Ham has been commissioned for 36 years but did serve as an enlisted man prior to gaining his commission, so he might have the mandatory retirement 40 years of service. The New York Times ran an article by Elisabeth Bumiller titled "Panetta Says Risk Impeded Deployment to Benghazi." The article refers to the night of 11/12 September and includes the following: As a result, Mr. Panetta said, he and two top commanders "felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation." The commanders are Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. Carter F. Ham of Africa Command, which oversees American military operations in Africa, including Libya. You probably have seen similar clips on TV. The impression being given by Mr. Panetta is that the three of them agreed upon the course of action. Not how it works in the military. The junior person present gives his views, the next junior, his, and so on up the line until the senior person, in this case Mr. Panetta, makes the decision. It is not a vote and there is only one person with a veto, the senior person, Mr. Panetta. Of course, he could have had marching orders from higher up in the chain of command. Note also that the NYT piece, written eight days after Mr. Panetta's announcement, makes no mention of General Ham being replaced as commander of U.S. Africa Command. Is it not relevant? You have a blog?

331 283 Romeo13, "matter where American soil is not in Jeopardy (compound was RENTED... ouch)"

Again, rather than secure our personnel on sovereign American soil in Libya (purchase, build on what you own, where international law demands Libyan compliance, including respect for diplomatic immunity), the determination to rent was Obama's administration's  choice. Obama is ultimately responsible for the outcome of his administration's decisions. All of the American government personnel abroad are obliged to obey the President's Policy. Benghazi is but one horribly outrageous result of Obama's leadership. The Benghazi massacre represents "the audacity of hope" that Obama has given to Jihad.

Posted by: panzernashorn at October 30, 2012 11:37 AM (BAnPT)

332 >The sad thing is that Benghazi will likely be buried forever if obama gets re-elected.

Conversely, if Romney is elected, then the palace guard media has nothing to gain by continuing the blackout. Many will take the opportunity to suddenly become pitbulls on the story, in an attempt to claim the mantle of objectivity. But we will never forget.

335 Think you can fight them if they decide they're going to delay the election? Tell me how?

The thing is: How does it help them?

The Romney camp can just say "Look, we'll concede NY, NJ, RI, MA, ME, VT, CT."

If Romney was actually going to win any of those, then the complete blowout will be echoed elsewhere.

337 This from the WaPo bio of Ham Ham has worked with served alongside many current military leaders and some members of the Obama administration. One is Gen. Eric Shinseki, now Veterans Affairs chief. In 2003, when Ham, then a one-star general, was mulling retirement, then-Army Chief of Staff Gen. Shinseki pulled him aside during a conference, Ham told The Tacoma News Tribune one year later. "Don't screw this up. I'm giving you my two Stryker brigades. As you might've noticed, these are very important to me,'" Shinseki told Ham. Ham didn't retuire, and his career took off. Ham has also worked closely with Jeh Johnson, the Pentagon's top lawyer. This gives Ham another powerful ally -- along with Defense Secretary Robert Gates -- within the Obama administration. Johnson was inserted at DoD after raising big campaign cash for Obama during the 2008 presidential election cycle. Allies like that are key for generals eying bigger jobs.

283 Hmmm.... just watched the report....

Three questions not addressed...

AC-130 Gunships in the Area? Armed Drones?

Who told the Fast React team in Sigonella to stand down....

And could the Military, without a Direct Presdiential Order, get involved at all in a Civilian matter where American soil is not in Jeopardy (compound was RENTED... ouch), and American Military were not involved...

Obama is Pontius Pilate in this morality play.... he did not tell them not to go... nor did he tell them TO go help.... he washed his hands, and went to bed...

Posted by: Romeo13 at October 30, 2012 03:24 PM (lZBBB)

-----------

The reason the 'Military were not involved'...is because the security detail for the consulate was called back home two weeks before!

There is so much about this that stinks to high heaven.

Starting with the fact that...

Barky put our military 'in harm's way' to protect the Lybian protestors...who were protesting Kuhdaffy.

He sent our military...into Lybia, without permission...to do that.

But then, when our own people on the ground there, came under attack...he wouldn't send anyone to help them!

342 Sending the FBI to Benghazi days (weeks?) after 9/11/12 to "investigate" the "crime scene" was the cherry on top.

343 I watched the three Brett Baier clips and they raised one big question: What happened to the number of people rescued by Doherty and Woods? I had heard that they rescued 30 after being told to stand down.
I listened hard, but didn't hear any evidence of that. I've been hoping we could hear from some of those who were rescued to bolster the idea that Obama washed his hands of any responsibility for Americans there.
Does anyone have any good sources for the real number of people rescued by the ex-seals?

344 Obama can do nothing to delay the election.  The election date is set by act of congress.  The election itself is carried out by the States.  Some of the very blue States may go along with him but none of the red States would.

346 There's nothing wrong with unusual (but real) names like Kinley. It's probably best to avoid made-up names with "kreativ speling". Also "classy" brand names ("Lexus"). That way a potential employer doesn't look at your kid's resume and think "Wow, this person's mom must've been an illiterate stripper".

37 were rescued by Marines from Tripoli. They are witnesses to the terrorist attack as are the Marines. Some, I hope, are blowing their whistles.

348 Once a day I go over to the Washington Post and take out my Benghazigate wrath on the trolls by posting a link or asking WaPo why they don't report the news. This results in trolls coming out of their dung piles to attack me and screech that I am not going to swiftboat this time! Whatever that means. Or they will throw in Bush for good measure. Or Romney's taxes. Then one will link a WaPo column that has nothing whatsoever to do with SEAL Ty Woods dying due to the "stand down order." I bless their hearts. I swat them around a few more times then leave. There are assigned trolls there, living in their mother's basements, who are there all day. I have only been doing my raids for a few weeks and I even recognize their names.

Good for FOX Bret Baier's investigation, and for others who responded including Col. David Hunt.

Thanks, rdbrewer for the post here.

352 304 EC, "It's always easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission."

Most politicians would agree.

But Obama would rather deal with an outraged USA than even request a favor of those he just put into power to rule Islamist Libya. A few bumps in the road obviously did not matter to Obama. These lives represent such a /small fraction of a fraction of a percent/ miniscule proportion of our personnel abroad, according to Obama's official spokeswoman.

After the massacre, Obama still is not willing to beg America's forgiveness for himself allowing the incident while sleeping, while awaiting permission from the new (unstable) Libyan government officials that he put into power.

With the Marxist US Ministry of Propaganda, Obama abusing the minority of Americans who are directly involved in US Military activity is all the easier. Too many Americans don't care, staying snug in the cocoon of ignorant bliss.

Hear no evil, speak no evil, think no evil.
Translation (clear and concise): So?

Lincoln didn't suspend the presidential election while in the middle of a desperately fought Civil War--an election he privately thought at the time he would almost certainly lose. That's the precedent. So no, Obama can't use Sandy to forestall the election. The bar is far higher than that.

356 Regarding the Obama - Christie photo op.  Since apparently FMA is only available on the internet,  I would like to see a bunch of older New Jersey people saying, "Why have we heard from Governor Christie but not from FEMA?  Don't you care about us?"

Maybe Obama will step in a hole like that Doocy kid did on Fox and Friends this morning.

Constitution requires that national elections happen all on the same date.  Congress could change the date, but it would be a huge fight and unlikely to happen in time.

Obama could attempt an executive order, but that would go to SCOTUS stat.  The outcome wouldn't be good for OFA, I believe.  No guaranty.

358 The press cover-up is incomplete but still as offensive as possible. The reaction of the administration is so demonstrative of their attitudes, their incompetence, dishonesty and dishonor that it is essential that we get as close to the bottom of this as possible before the election. And the MFM, as usual, instinctively rushes to Protect The Democrat. They are grotesque, a horrific parody of what they claim to be. Caddell is right, the majority of the industry is not just an effective enemy of America, but an enemy of the principles they claim to uphold. The average journalist is an anti-journalist. The whole chain of events would be unconvincingly bizarre in a novel, but it's reality. But that's me, Johnny-on-the-Dead-Thread.
